Phone message A guy asked me out, then called me stupid when I said I wasn't ready to date. Make it make sense.

I (37F) met a guy at a concert yesterday. He approached me, asked for my number, and we exchanged texts afterward.

He asked if I was free and said we should hang out. He even wanted to see me that same night, but I wasn't available. We ended up discussing meeting another day.

When I asked what he had in mind for our plans, he hadn't actually thought of anything and asked me for suggestions. I started feeling like we weren't really on the same wavelength, but I was still open to seeing how things went.

Meanwhile, I realized something about myself: I'm genuinely not ready to date right now. I recently got out of a long-term relationship, and I'd already made a commitment to myself to stay single until the beginning of next year. I want to honor that instead of going on dates when I'm not emotionally available.

So I sent him a polite message explaining that I wasn't ready to date, didn't want to lead him on, and would potentially be open to exploring things in the future when I was in a different place.

His response? He started calling me stupid and insulting my intelligence, saying we weren't dating and asking why I was talking about my headspace when he had simply asked me to hang out.

I KNOW we weren't dating. We'd literally just met! But he approached me, asked for my number, wanted to pick me up, repeatedly asked to hang out, and practically begged me to hang out tonight. I interpreted that as romantic interest, which doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

If he meant it platonically, he could have clarified that. If he was disappointed that I wasn't available, he could have said so. Instead, he chose to insult me.

I eventually fired back and blocked him. I could have handled my response more gracefully, but I have zero tolerance for someone speaking to me that way.

What makes this even more concerning is that I later found out that he lied about his age, name and even where he lived.

I'm honestly baffled. Why pursue someone, then act offended when they politely explain they're not ready to date? This is what dating in 2026 really is because I am not made for this.

Am I missing something here, or was his reaction completely disproportionate?

Facebook DMs Date Gone Wrong - Not Sure How to Feel?

I met a woman on FB dating and we agreed to get mexican food.

I drove over, walked up, and she instantly took offense to my nose piercing. (They are in my profile pictures).

We were both hungry and I offered to still pay for dinner despite her distaste, but she noped out and said she was leaving.

I’m genuinely not sure how to feel. Admittedly, it did hurt my feelings slightly. On the other hand, I’ve also just learned not to care anymore.

Screenshots are of what she had to say after it happened.

I guess I’m just sharing this because I’d like to hear other opinion.

Phone message Girlfriend broke up with me over money

I am 30m and met the girl of my dreams a few months back in the summer. She is beautiful, amazing, sweet, and a hard worker. However, when I met her she told me that she didn’t want a relationship due to her having financial and mental health difficulties. I respected it but asked to still hang out. Eventually one thing lead to another and we ended up in a relationship. Things were going well I thought but she broke it off earlier today due to her saying that she’s broke and depressed.

Now I understand the depressed part but idc that she’s broke. I love her and I just want to be around her. Plus she isn’t greedy. She never asks for anything. I just love being in her presence. But she feels like she still isn’t doing enough. I wish that she could see that I don’t care. I just love her. But she doesn’t want this.

I just hate that she’s going through this.

After the date I thought it went well and I was surprised to see she was not liking it based on looks and decided to try handing me off to her friend. Really crazy stuff.

Phone message told a guy i didn't want to date him

i wish i had the part where i told him i didn't want to pursue things too (something like "hey i think you're cool but i don't think we mesh very well", i was polite) so that it could really be understood how much he blew up lol.

he sent me this same message on instagram and snapchat as well🫠 very glad that i didn't end up in a relationship with this guy

edit: guys this is an old screenshot. i thought me saying i didn't have screenshots of parts of it would make it clear it was old, but it didn't and that's my bad. this guy has LONG been blocked (i blocked him directly after this screenshot). i found this looking for a different photo and found it funny enough to post. that is all.

Reddit DMs Why are men?

Nothing about my profile or anything involving it would ever make it seem like I would be open to a message like this

To all the men saying “at least he asked” I was never asked if I was okay receiving an unsolicited sexual message from a stranger. Asking for consent implies that the person has already expressed some sort of sexual interest in you. Don’t message strangers sex shit. It isn’t some unalienable right to ask women if they want to fuck you. Doing that with no other preamble makes you a creep.

For some context, my female friend in this text string was asking to follow a girl I’ve been seeing for about 3 1/2 to 4 months and before they’ve even met in person, she sent me the strange rant about her, not following her on Instagram still shocked that in our age of 27 people can still act like this. opinion be appreciated or if anyone has dealt anything like this let me know and has it been over anything besides a petty

Phone message The last text my brother sent me before he passed away

Post image

This was the last text I got from my brother before he passed away. It's been nearly two years, and I still look at it. We had lost contact for nearly three years, but I reached out to him again, and this was his response to me. Nine days later, he passed away. I'm grateful I got the chance to speak to him one last time; I just wish we had more time. I still feel very guilty not reaching out sooner but I'm so happy I got to speak to him one last time.
