"Iām in deep despair as I write this tonight. RJ Mitte, my sweet son on Breaking Bad has died.
I met him when he was only 14 years old when he was cast as Walter White Jr., a part he played with such joy and enthusiasm.
Born with Cerebral Palsy, he never - ever - allowed that challenge to be an excuse for anything. He met the demanding shooting schedule head on with great determination.
Always listening to the advice that his TV parents (Anna Gunn and myself) gave him - but being a teenager, sometimes mischievously ignoring the counsel in order to learn the hard way⦠He was one of the stars of a hit TV show - but still a kid.
That kid was pretty raw when we started shooting the pilot in February of 2007, but little by little we watched him grow into a really fine actor. He parlayed his experience on the show to be a vocal advocate for performers with disabilities, and was the head of a philanthropic organization with a focus on helping the disabled community.
All that promise and potential now is such a loss.
It is especially devastating to hear that he took his own life.
Why?
We were texting each other just a few weeks ago - figuring out when we could meet for lunch. I donāt know if that lunch would have changed his futureā¦
But I do know that I loved him, and thoroughly enjoyed being with him throughout the years on the series, and after the spotlight on Breaking Bad dimmedā¦
Iāll miss you, son.
I canāt stop there without imploring anyone who is contemplating suicide to please call for the support you need at 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (https://988lifeline.org/). There is hope"

From Hollywood Reporter:
Paul, who played Jesse Pinkman, wrote in a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter, āI am at a loss. I am heartbroken over this news. RJ, I love you my friend. You will be missed. And to whoever happens to be reading this, please know you are loved, and you are not alone. Always remember that.ā
Dean Norris, who played Hank Schrader, the uncle to Walt Jr., also shared, āThough RJ didnāt play my TV son, I always looked out for him as a young kid on set. He was a sweetheart of a young man and will be greatly missed. This is so heartbreaking, I canāt believe it. Thinking of him and his family.ā

Breaking Bad is my most rewatched series of all time. I have watched it so many times since i was a teen, and iām 27 now. I genuinely cannot believe this has happened. Its genuinely probably the celeb death that has hit me the hardest. The show will never be the same again. He will genuinely be so missed

The world can be a cruel and unforgiving place sometimes. Just know that no matter where you are, you have people who care for you and want to genuinely help you. May RJ Mitte rest in peace and his family taken care of as they navigate this difficult time.

Literally an hour ago I saw a Walter Jr reel on instagram and the top comment with 36k likes said: I hated this r*tard more than Skyler.
I went to bed feeling slightly mad at how idiotic this world is considering 36k people agreed with that comment.
I couldnāt sleep so I checked my phone and 2 of my friends messages me to tell me he passed. Iām so fucking mad at this world and how mental health is not even considered a real issue. Fuck Hollywood.
He did out of this world portrayal of Walter Jr, I canāt believe this is real š. And he did such an amazing job, he will be missed forever. I feel shallow writing anything, feeling like itās too little. I felt for this character on BB so much, he was one of the most innocent characters who just suffered a lot and it made me so emotional, especially with the savewalterwhite.com, I cried watching that part. He made our favorite show so awesome with his part.
Guys, please take care of yourself and your loved ones. This is so fucking horrible and a constant reminder of how many people struggle. Donāt forget that thereās always someone to talk to.

RJ's friends and family (especially his fiancƩe) all have my sympathies, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for everything he had ever donated to disability charity. His performance as Flynn White was nothing short of awesome, namely during his last phone call with Walt in "Granite State"; RJ acted his fucking heart out in that scene.
Here's to hoping Flynn gets all the breakfasts ever in heaven.

He truly was a beacon of living life without a condition weighing him down. I admit I only watched breaking bad for the first time a few years ago but I'm so glad I saw his performance and the love that he got.
Rest in peace to a phenominal actor.
I know a lot of people are spreading this message but allow me to as well. Don't be afraid to give your cared ones a hug, shoulder to lean on, or ear to talk to. You are never alone. There is always someone out there that cares about you.

RIP RJ Mitte, part of the greatest show of all time. I have watched the show about 20 times like a lot of us here, the show means a lot to me. Itās crazy how much impact this young man has had on millions of people around the world

Iām devastated. absolutely horrible news. Just imagining how much he mustāve suffered to get to this point is making me cry. Seeing him on screen will never feel the same again, but his talent and his legacy will carry on through his work and activism.
He was such a sweet guy. i canāt imagine how bryan and anna must feel right now:(
rip, you will be forever missed by millions

With many people having just heard the heartbreaking news of RJ Mitteās passing, I want to remind everyone of something important: Talk to the people around you. Whether youāre the one struggling or youāre worried that someone else might be going through a hard time, talk. Talk. Talk.
We live in a time when weāre becoming increasingly isolated. Doomscrolling and social media only make things worse, often leaving us feeling even more miserable.
If you feel like someone you know has stopped reaching out as often or seems more withdrawn than usual, take a moment to ask them how theyāre doing. But donāt forget to check in on the people who seem the happiest, too. Sometimes, the people youād least expect are the ones struggling the most.
Conversations have so much power, and we often underestimate just how much they can mean. Even a brief conversation can have a much bigger impact than you realize. You might give someone a new perspective, a different way of looking at things, or even a new reason to keep going.
Thereās a reason talking can make such a difference. When we put our feelings into words, they can become easier to understand and less overwhelming. Sometimes, hearing ourselves say something out loud or hearing someone remind us that we're not alone can help us see a way forward when our own thoughts make everything feel hopeless.
And if you feel like youāre in a dark place yourself, the same applies to you. Try talking to someone you trust. If you donāt know who to turn to, reach out to a crisis helpline. There is always a way forward, even when everything feels dark right now. You don't have to see that way forward just yet, and you don't have to find it alone.
Talk to each other. Check in on each other. You never know how much it might mean to someone.

I have no words to describe how awful reading that made me feel. He seemed like such a kind person on his interviews and a very down to earth kinda guy.
It's the first time that an actor's passing makes me feel this way. Again, we'll miss you.

It's hard to believe what the news today is; the talented actor who portrayed one of the most lovable and grounded characters on television as Walter White Jr./Flynn in Breaking Bad has passed away at the age of 34.
What's even more heartbreaking to process is that RJ recently got engaged to Kennedy Suarez in late 2025, and they were looking forward to a bright future full of love, happiness, and success together; he gave so much authenticity, diversity, and heart to the screen, capturing the attention and admiration of millions of people all over the world.
Thank you for the beautiful memories, RJ, you will forever be remembered as a legend to this amazing community. Rest in peace, my friend. šļø
(Breakfast in heaven today, Flynn. š„š„)

For most of us, RJ was the moral anchor of Breaking Bad* *Playing Walter Jr. (Flynn) wasn't an easy taskāhe had to portray the innocent kid trapped in the middle of a absolute hurricane of lies, deceit, and violence. In a show full of morally grey monsters and criminals, Flynn was just a good kid who loved his dad, loved his family, and wanted a normal life. RJ played that emotional vulnerability so raw and so authentically.
He was so young, engaged, and had so much left to give the world. Itās easy to take actors for granted until theyāre gone, but RJ truly used his light to leave the world better than he found it.Ā
Rest in peace, RJ. Thank you for the memories, the advocacy, and for being the heart of one of the greatest shows ever made. Youāll be missed so much. ā¤ļø

My heart goes out to RJ Mitteās family, friends, and everyone who loved him. I canāt imagine how painful this loss must be for them. He meant a lot to so many people, and he will be remembered for the person he was and the impact he had on others. Sending love and strength to everyone grieving him. May he rest in peace.

After reading about RJs death, I teared up, I couldn't believe it. We really need to watch out for each other more. Please talk to someone. Try opening up. At least try fighting your demons. You owe this to yourself. There are several hotlines you can reach out to if you don't feel like talking to someone you know. It's gonna get better. I promisse.

You've probably heard that RJ Mitte (Walter Jr./Flynn) took his own life today.
I've been dealing with thoughts of this nature for a while now and this really shocked me and crystallized what that would mean for me.
Please reach out to your friends that you haven't heard from in a while. Or who seem like they're isolating themselves. They may ignore you. Or you may be what they need in a time of distress.
Also reach out to your friends who have it all together. Maybe they're engaged or maybe they're a famous actor maybe they just got promoted.
Reach out to the people you love.

Itās such a tragedy that we lost RJ. He was such a kind-hearted young man that was gone too soon. He spent his free time helping others with disabilities all while he had cerebral palsy. Not to mention his amazing performance as Walter Jr. on Breaking Bad. Words cannot describe the pain I feel right now, as well as many of you guys. Rest in paradise, RJ, RJ. You will forever be missed.
