Talk to people. Talk about how you feel. Check in on each other.

With many people having just heard the heartbreaking news of RJ Mitte’s passing, I want to remind everyone of something important: Talk to the people around you. Whether you’re the one struggling or you’re worried that someone else might be going through a hard time, talk. Talk. Talk.

We live in a time when we’re becoming increasingly isolated. Doomscrolling and social media only make things worse, often leaving us feeling even more miserable.

If you feel like someone you know has stopped reaching out as often or seems more withdrawn than usual, take a moment to ask them how they’re doing. But don’t forget to check in on the people who seem the happiest, too. Sometimes, the people you’d least expect are the ones struggling the most.

Conversations have so much power, and we often underestimate just how much they can mean. Even a brief conversation can have a much bigger impact than you realize. You might give someone a new perspective, a different way of looking at things, or even a new reason to keep going.

There’s a reason talking can make such a difference. When we put our feelings into words, they can become easier to understand and less overwhelming. Sometimes, hearing ourselves say something out loud or hearing someone remind us that we're not alone can help us see a way forward when our own thoughts make everything feel hopeless.

And if you feel like you’re in a dark place yourself, the same applies to you. Try talking to someone you trust. If you don’t know who to turn to, reach out to a crisis helpline. There is always a way forward, even when everything feels dark right now. You don't have to see that way forward just yet, and you don't have to find it alone.

Talk to each other. Check in on each other. You never know how much it might mean to someone.

I’m just so angry at this world that did this to him. We’re meant to be better than this. This shouldn’t have happened :( he slipped through the cracks and no one noticed

Why do people only say this after a suicide? Keep that same energy all the time

You’re right, we should keep this energy all the time. But I’d rather say it one time too many than not say it at all.

You're not wrong. But is it really the time for this

I think… that’s the point of why people say it after suicides. Your comment, however, was pointless.

Pointless comment. Thx

It’s also saying it before. Copycat suicides are a thing, even when it is someone famous. “They seemed to have everything, i have nothing, why should I go on?” It’s never a bad time to remind anyone that they are loved, that there are other options, that there is help out there. It’s called, by any positive change. If one person is helped by this post then it is worth it.

Yep I just read this comment of someone saying RJ’s suicide gives him the strength to go through with it.
