Other Waking up to a 10/10 performing video is the worst

It sucks every time it happens. My videos are in a long-running series that take 2 weeks to a month to make each video, and it sucks when one underperforms. The videos either explode in views for a week or get a slow trickle of views for a week. There is no in-between. The slow trickle style sucks ass. That's it. That's all I wanted to say. Not looking for advice or anything. Just wanted to scream into the void.

Talk / Discussion After 1.5 Years on YouTube, I've Finally Made My First $1,000

After roughly a year and a half of creating videos, I’ve officially passed $1,000 in YouTube AdSense revenue.
Now, I know $1,000 over 18 months isn’t exactly life changing money, but to me it’s a pretty incredible feeling knowing something I started purely as a hobby has managed to earn that much.
For a bit of context, I run a gaming channel. I started with nothing more than my PS5, a microphone and a genuine enjoyment for making videos. No expensive setup, no professional editing experience, not even a PC, just learning things as I went.
And I’ll be the first to admit, YouTube has been one hell of a rollercoaster.
I’ve had videos reach thousands of people, followed immediately by uploads that struggle to get even 100 views. I’ve spent hours recording, editing and putting together thumbnails, only to watch a video completely flop.
There have been times where I’ve questioned whether what I’m doing is actually worth it, times where I’ve felt burnt out, and times where I’ve probably spent far too long staring at YouTube Studio wondering why something wasn’t performing.
But then you get those little wins. A video suddenly takes off, someone leaves a genuinely nice comment, or you see a familiar viewer coming back to support another upload. Those moments remind me why I started in the first place.
My channel currently sits at around 2K subscribers, 573,000 longform views and just over $1,000 earned.
I’m nowhere near where I’d eventually like to be, and I still have so much to learn. Some months I feel like I’m making progress, and others it feels like I’m going backwards.
But looking back at where I started, I’m genuinely proud of what I’ve managed to build.
I guess the reason I’m sharing this is because I know how discouraging YouTube can be, especially when you’re putting so much effort into something and not seeing the results you’d hoped for.
Don’t let one bad upload convince you that you’re wasting your time. And don’t compare your first year to someone else’s fifth.
Keep experimenting, keep learning, take breaks when you need them, and most importantly, try to enjoy what you’re creating.
I’m still just a small creator figuring things out myself, but 18 months ago I never would’ve imagined that making gaming videos in my spare time could earn me $1,000
Here’s to the next milestone. 🍻

Question / Problem Youtube accused my channel for reused content and denied my initial monetization request.

Hi! I have a channel based on aviation, it's not plane spottings, i usually make aviation documentaries, memes or just ratings. Recently 2 of my videos hit 100k, one has 107k views and the other one has 127k views. And now I'm eligible for applying for monetization. I applied for the first step, it got denied. Youtube says that my content is reused. Yes i use clips from other people's videos. Thing is, the clips themselves are NEVER the main focus of the video. I use them for perspectives. Like the specific plane the video is about taking off. The takeoff isn't the main part of the video nor the footage is. Most of the time these clips only take up like 30 seconds of the video. Only 2 of my videos start with 30 seconds clips with only an initial commentary for perspectives. I have one video where i included many clips in between, again for perspective. Like a plane flying over. The actual video was about "How to ragebait an avgeek" and i don't think the takeoffs are the main part of the video.
What can i do to deal with this?

Talk / Discussion does your estimated youtube revenue usually match what you actually receive?

the estimated revenue in youtube studio isn’t always the final amount, and i’ve seen creators get confused when their finalized earnings look different.

without sharing exact amounts if you don’t want to, do your estimates usually end up close to the final figure? have you noticed any consistent differences month after month?

Question / Problem How easy is it to estimate a youtube channels revenue?

Hey, I got a question about monetization on YouTube and I thought you guys might be able to answer it. Does anybody know as to how easy it really is to estimate a channels earnings and what you'd need for that? It's just that sometimes I watch channels and I am curious as to what they earn, which they don't share most of the time for obvious reasons. But what would you need to try to give an educated guess as to what the monthly earnings for a YouTube channel are? After all, most channels monthly views are just public knowledge anyway.

Total layman on this one. I know what "RPM" is and I vaguely know that there are certain genres of videos that generally pay better per 1000 clicks than other ones. For example comedy / gaming does worse than finance because I suppose there's more money in the latter category. I know that RPM can vary from $3-$7, sometimes below that to maybe $1.50, sometimes a lot more than that to i-don't-know-where. I know that the YouTube money isn't just AdSense, I know that there are memberships and Super Thanks. I know that not every view is monetized.

Do you think there is a somewhat reliable way to estimate this kind of stuff? Just curious!

Question / Problem A copyright claim from The Orchard Music

I have a quick question. My first video has received a copyright claim from The Orchard Music. If the video becomes eligible for monetization in the future, will I still be able to earn money from it? And if a portion of the revenue is shared with The Orchard Music, what would the revenue split percentage be?

Question / Problem Address Verification Issue

I am from Argentina and am trying to verify my address on Google AdSense so I can collect my YouTube earnings, but I’m facing an issue with the verification PIN that I can't seem to resolve.

Google sent the PIN via postal mail, but I never received any of the letters. I tried using different addresses—including those of relatives living closer to the capital—yet I still haven't received anything. The last request was sent on September 13, 2026.

I contacted Google AdSense support and spoke with several agents. One of them updated my address and informed me that the case had been escalated to an internal team to review other available options; they asked me to wait for a reply in the same email thread.

After waiting four weeks for the letter, the agent replied in that same thread stating that the latest letter containing the PIN was already on its way. The problem is that I have tried to receive the PIN many times, and the letters never arrive.

Has anyone else gone through a similar situation and managed to verify their address using a different method? Or is there anyone who works at Google—or has a contact on a team that could review my case—who could help?

I would greatly appreciate any help, shared experiences, or contacts that might assist me in resolving this. I have been trying to fix this through support for far too long without getting a concrete answer.

Question / Problem Will I Continue to Earn Money Over the Next 32 Days?

Hey all, I’ll try to keep this short.

I began YouTube a couple months ago and worked very hard to get monetized. The problem is I decided to use my old YouTube account from nearly 10 years ago, and apparently I set that up as an organization/business account. Big mistake from teenage me.

I deleted that Adsense account but it won’t let me relink to a new Adsense account for 32 days now. If I keep “earning” revenue on YouTube, will I still be able to actually get that money in 32 or so days through AdSense? Or is all the money from the next 32 days just a wash?

I’m also guessing I can’t expedite this process… Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Talk / Discussion Shorts Channel Dead after New Update

Post image
0 Upvotes

I've been creating content for over 4 years, monetized for more than 2 years. Never have I gotten such low views. And I understand if the content itself is bad but my AVD & Swipe ratio is also good. I can't seem to understand what more could i do here to increase my views. It feels like youtube isn't pushing my shorts after the new update.

About my videos - Movie reviews & critics ( faceless shorts ). I know in the new update they are pushing original shorts and not repetitive. But many channels exactly like me are still working fine and getting decent views. In fact I have 2 channels and both are struggling for views.

I understand you might think it's ai slop but it's not.

Can anyone here help me understand what is happening?
