I’m currently car camping with my dog. Mornings start with activities to tire him out. I find out there’s a free agility course near where I spent the night, awesome, ready to go.

When I get there, a lady and her dog is already there. She’s not even doing anything. I talk to her to see about coming in because I figure the agility course is big enough for everyone and again, she isn’t using it.

“No you can’t. My dog can’t be around other dogs. Just use the big dog park.” She pointed to a huge, empty, muddy pit. So I can already see why she didn’t use that one.

WTF? Why are you even here then?

She says she’ll leave in 15 mins anyway. Obviously 15 mins turns to 45. She’s still here, no signs of leaving. I’m still waiting. Best part? She still isn’t doing anything with her dog. At most the dog occasionally paces while she’s on her phone scrolling away. I’m waiting it out in the muddy park out of pure spite and because I know my dog cleans up fast. But I’m still pissed

Edit: Just to add; there was another small dog park area. In this area was the woman’s other reactive dog and her husband. The husband was huge and looked like he’d be more than happy to shoot me so no, I wouldn’t have done anything crazy even if it didn’t put my dog in danger. Didn’t think I’d have to mention that as I didn’t realize everyone here would be so eager to see me and my dog hurt someone or get hurt.

Needed to make Tres Leches for my school project, but we accidentally ordered the wrong one. Thankfully Walmart offers returns (thus only mildly infuriating)

For reasons, I was trying to figure out how to spell PENIS in braille. For any other language, I’ve been able to search “what is XYZ word in Arabic/Japanese/Spanish/etc…” and it will show said word in the requested language.

Sucks I can’t write a love letter to my homie though.

A few years ago, when DoorDash first started offering grocery/convenience store deliveries, I ordered Plan B because I was too embarrassed/ ashamed to go buy it myself.

Since it was a “new” feature there wasn’t really an option to select replacements or cancel individual items if something was out of stock. It was pretty much up to the Dasher to figure out a substitution.

My Dasher decided the best “replacement” for Plan B was a pregnancy test.

For anyone wondering, no, I wasn’t pregnant. But I still think about how unhelpful that substitution was.

I booked a weeklong Airbnb in Costa Rica, doing so for a week to get a long-term discount. It was $230/night, which was on the upper end of what I was willing to spend (especially for 1 bedroom in Costa Rica), but it looked nice. I booked it and the host accepted.

Now, weeks later, the host is saying that there was a pricing error and that I need to pay an additional 35% ($310/night) if I want to stay there. Umm, no thanks...

My brother and SIL recently had a baby. They invited the family over to meet the baby. When my SIL's mother answered the door (I had not yet met this person) she immediately assumed I was my younger sister. I corrected her, and she initially argued with me and didn't seem to believe I was who I said I was, which is always a great way to meet someone. She then declared, "wow, you are so much prettier than I thought!" And when my SIL came downstairs with the baby a bit later, she says to her (and within 5 ft of me) the same thing again. My SIL had shared with me before that her mother is "challenging" but hoo boy I thought I would least get to sit down before the shots were fired.

The self service coffee station in my apartment lobby has been upgraded! Just scan the code, register an account, confirm your log in, sign in, and we’ll start keeping track of when and what coffee you drink every day!

I’m tired. My family is sick. I ran to pickup some meds and ice cream. Saw “black cherry” available which is my favorite so I quickly grabbed it. I didn’t know I had to read the fine print for “Black Cherry”.

Also - the picture isn’t even right. The ice cream is white with sparse amounts of cherry. It’s awful. I’m returning it tomorrow. I think this is BS.

As the title says. I've had this little USB camera in my house and flat before I moved for a few years to watch the cat(s) while I'm out. At some point in the last week, it's updated and now if you want to actually watch any of the videos it captured, you have to pay a subscription. So it's only useful for viewing live now. Vicohome is the brand, it's not a big brand name product, but after years of use with no issues, this is irritating. Some may even say it's mildly infuriating. Bah and humbug.

Edit edit: yes it has an SD slot but it doesn't let me watch the videos on the app with one in still, so I would have to put it in a computer to read.

Of course if you're after proper security cameras, a proper wired set is always going to win over something like this. I needed a camera like this at the time just to check up on my cats as we'd moved house and I was in the office a lot.

Interesting to see the discussions on not having a camera like this in the home for security concerns. Valid points and happy to see conversations happening. Mine was only watching the cat chair and we have no kids in the house, just to talk to that aspect.

The vending machines at my university used to let you just tap your card and buy whatever you wanted.

Now you have to install their app, make an account, recharge an in-app wallet, scan the machine, place an order through the app, and then confirm it… all for a drink or snack.

The more annoying part these machines are usually the cheapest option on campus compared to the actual stores, so I used to use them a lot. But honestly, I’d rather pay more than deal with all this hassle just to buy a can of soda.

Last night, the new assistant store manager told me that he is implementing a new rule in which grocery workers can not have their water bottles out on the store floor while facing or putting out freight. We can only drink our water while in the back or on our breaks.

The reason? He is concerned that it would be a health and safety risk in case the bottle would break and a customer would slip and fall on the water. I suppose this would occur during the time we would go and get supplies to clean up the spill? This concern has never been brought up before within the five years I’ve been working at this grocery store chain.

I still have a lingering cough from a cold I had a few weeks ago. I told him that I have to hydrate frequently. He said that reason doesn’t matter.

We also sell water bottles and can move them around freely but we can’t have our own reusable water bottles.

He could be spending better time and resources that managing when and where people can drink water.

Half the groceries were missing as well, boxes must've gotten mixed up.

Preface I probably should have been more aware of my surroundings but this was probably not preventable. Background I am a 23f nursing student that is currently doing a clinical in lower Manhattan. I was on my way to clinical this morning and still had time before I needed to go in, so I decided to get dunkin as I’ve done many times before. All was good up until this point I order my food, a $6 meal that came with a sandwich, hash browns, and a coffee, and I go to sit at a table. This is a relatively small Dunkin that had only 2-3 tables available. But again I have already done this same routine many times before. I’m eating my breakfast while I’m talking on the phone with my mom to pass the time as I watch people go in and out of the Dunkin. Maybe 15-20 minutes into me passing the time. My half drank iced coffee was grabbed by a homeless lady as I watched her drink from my straw and run out of the dunkin. I was in shock as I wasn’t expecting my coffee to be snatched right before my eyes and then very confused as I watched this lady run out with my coffee. I decided I was already over the day and went to my hospital clinical coffee-deprived.
