Opinion Seriously, why are some/many/most of us psychos around this team?
I'm probably one of the worst. I have impossible-to-meet expectations that essentially ruin every Sunday for me. I have no patience, and a zero-tolerance for mediocrity.
Rams, Niners, Chiefs, Bills, Ravens fans... they have some fanatics, but none of them come anywhere close to the level of perfection we hold the Birds to - going back well before our first ring in 2017. When they lose, they seem to have a healthy ability to be frustrated but chalk it up to "a part of playing in the NFL", where as we by-and-large are ready to commit a multitude of felonies out of pure rage.
I'm a normal dude, working a normal job, don't listen to WIP, and don't gamble.
Yet there is nothing in the world that makes my blood boil more than seeing the Birds underperform to what I should believe to be a "Super Bowl-at-minimum" standard of play.
I'm also not the only one in this Sub, or real life who feels this way.
Have we ever actually introspected on this?

Picture What teams *wouldn't* struggle when they look like this?

Serious question. There's been so much handwringing on this sub about Hurts, Sirianni, Mannion, Stoutland, even Howie. But our team has been decimated on the offensive side. All while learning a brand new system. And yet we still hung around with two clear playoff teams until the very last seconds of each game. If you replace Hurts, do we magically become some dominant force with this lineup? If you replace Sirianni, do we magically become 5-0? (Okay, maybe we're at least 3-2).
At least me personally, I'm not making any rash decisions. I want to see some key players back on the field. I want to see the team have more time to get used to the new system. I want to see the starters actually start to gel and develop some comfort with one another. I want Mannion to get some more experience calling plays. Lot of season left for that to happen.

Opinion When did we change our expectations?
From what I recall, before the season every local (Roob, local stations) and national (like Baldy, Chris Long) reporters were telling us to temper expectations of this offense and that it will “take time” for things to get rolling as everyone acclimates to the new system. This was even this sub’s consensus.
To me, this meant at LEAST 1/3 (week 5-6) of the season until things begin to improve.
Given the combination of the laundry list of injuries to our first stringers, the sudden retirement of our best player leading to the depletion and weekly shuffling of our OL using rookies and PS players, AND the tough stretch of games as we go through it (losing to top talent teams like LAR, JAX by one possession in winnable games + a division game to follow)…
Doesn’t it stand to reason that the way we look right now makes sense for the current circumstances?
Yes things look terrible but in my eyes the math checks out on the root causes. Better days SHOULD be ahead.
At this point the only thing I can’t explain is Jalen Carter’s inconsistency. If he can be like he was in London every week we have a shot at anyone. But hey, it seems like his wrist is healing so he’s playing better so maybe that’s it. Go figure.
Go Birds. I’m not off this train yet

Picture Some people forget this man went to two super bowls and won one!
Why would we get rid of a QB with his accomplishments? Tell me what college QB went to two Super Bowls, I’ll wait
If you’re a true eagles fan, you should only care about Jalen earning his spot, not the best chance we have to win in the future!

Question Realistic chances of Nick getting canned at the end of the season?
To be clear I’m not stating he shouldn’t be canned if the season goes in the toilet. Im just worried that the NFC East is so bad that it’s not unimaginable for them to win the division with an 9 and 8 record. You also have to consider the the injuries excuse, the recent Super Bowl appearances, and .670 career record. I could definitely see a historically patient owner and gm keeping him on for another season.

Picture Jalen Hurts Appreciation Post, I stand with QB1, all he does is WIN.
My mini Jordan, so clutch, you'll see this week, he's going to prove all you doubters wrong once again, he's a former Super Bowl MVP, I'd take a Super Bowl MVP over any other QB in the league, argue with a wall.

Opinion Those Offseason Takes not looking so great right about now…
"The offense could be better by addition of subtraction without the man who shall not be named. " in fact we are not. We are the worst second half offense in football. 28th ranked passing offense.
"Eagles got Jonathan Greenard"
Jonathan WHO !? A nothing burger of a signing. Bryce Huff 2.0. Never thought this was an important signing. Like once.
People expected major contributions from at least Lemon, with the addition of stowers. Stowers probably won’t even register a catch this season while Lemon is being misused.
I knew this would happen strictly because how routinely Dallas gets hurt. So a top heavy team with injury concerns and overly relying on new additions and a new coordinator ? Sounds great 👍
I’ve been watching this team for too long to believe all of this BS. Fool me once shame on you.

Highlights Jalen Carter is the best player in the nfl. Prove me wrong
He is the most lethal game wrecker in the field. “Single handedly” kept us in the game. I think locking him up has been the biggest move of the season and I’m excited for a long future.
Picture The amount of hate Jalen Hurts gets, despite all his success is insane to me! Played amazing in the Super Bowls, and has played great this season given all the injuries and trash coaching. QB1 will bounce back 🦅🦅

Question Why don't the reporters ask the right questions in the right way!
We have not run a tush push all year! We have had a burner of short yardage situations where we could have done tush pushes. So since the plays we have run have a 1% success rate why wouldn't we try a play with an 80% success rate!
I'm not sure , but I think we have a - yardage on screen passes . So do we really think the next one will work?
And since everyone stops ours, why don't we defend the screens the way everyone does against us!
Manion needs to answer these
And many more!

Opinion I don’t think he would last 2 years here
Herbert’s already fragile as is and low on confidence. This isn’t the fanbase/city to play for if you’re a mental midget. Ask Ben Simmons.

Player Discussion #20
Brian Dawkins.
I remember during his 1996 rookie season thinking this kid is a good player.
My favorite player of all time.
Eagles 1996-2008
13 seasons
7 Pro Bowls
Eagles decide he is washed up.
Broncos 2009-2011
3 seasons
2 Pro Bowls
It was a blessing in disguise when he did not make the NFL HOF in his first year of eligibility 2016, for by having to wait a year, he was at Eagles Super Bowl victory as a member of HOF 2017 class.
I was at the Eagles season opener when he wore his HOF jacket for the 2018 NFL season opener at Lincoln Financial Field.
Wish I saw him inducted in Canton in person, but so be it.

Tailgate Thread Tailgating plans for first timers? 🇮🇪🦅
My partner and I are visiting from Dublin for our first ever NFL game this Sunday against the Panthers
We'd love to get the full experience and join a tailgate before the game. Any recommendations for welcoming tailgates that we could join?
We're bringing a nice bottle of Irish whiskey to share / trade
Any tips would be much appreciated!
Go Birds! 🦅

Question Would you take the more aggressive “gunslinger style” 2023 Jalen Hurts over the one we’ve seen this year and last year?
I personally would, plus he ran more in 2023 than now which added another dimension to the offense and complicated things for the defense. I remember a lot of his turnovers in 2023 also being pretty unlucky (tipped balls, receivers slipping on routes, etc) or late game desperation heaves downfield. I want him to be more aggressive like he was in 2023 (just slightly more mindful about ball security).

Question How would we feel about this ??
Our RB room is depleted? It’s Damien pierce and Steele. Now personally I love Steele because of his name and what he did in preseason. However, do we need an established bellows we can have on the roster just in case?
