We shouldn’t have been in OT to begin with
OT was garbage management and individual errors but we should have closed out the game before hand. How do you squander a 14 point lead in 10 minutes? Everyone wants to talk about OT but bruh we can’t even close out the 4th quarter. Our problems started here not in OT.

You know yesterday's game was bad when...
You're a therapist and your session with client who happens to be an eagles fan starts off with them checking in with you to see how you're feeling about the end of the game yesterday and them asking if you need space to process what happened.

Every pass catcher was open on Isaiah Likely’s second touchdown. This Defense is so embarrassing.

Here's what I think happened exactly during that final sequence based off the evidence and interviews.
It took a while but I personally think I've put together exactly what happened during that final play after piecing everything together:
The call was what DQ said - a quick sideline out to the TE or immediately spike/throw the ball away if covered. The reason this play was called was two-fold: First, lack of full confidence in the kicker at that range, combined with his earlier miss and the rain. Second, Blough thought there was a good chance at another all-out blitz and they could get a wide open, easy TE completion to the sideline, gaining another good chunk of yardage and still have almost 10 seconds on the clock to kick.
What happened: JD5 just had a complete brain misfire in the heat of the play. He saw the TE was covered immediately, he didn't really expect that. He momentarily lost his judgment and instincts told him to tuck and run. He went down, and had a complete deer-in-the-headlights look that we've never seen before while looking over at the sideline. That's telling. It's because he's trying to briefly process what just happened and what he did, slowly realizing he messed up the play, before then realizing with the help of his teammates and probably coaches yelling to hurry up and spike. Why is the team not all reacting quickly to get back? It's because some of them didn't actually see the play at the end, and were expecting the whistle blew because JD5 threw the ball out of bounds or TE went out of bounds as called (they probably looked towards the TE, saw he didn't have the ball, and thought JD5 spiked it/chucked it resulting in the whistle). Absolutely no one expected it to be a live ball at that point, and thus no sense of urgency - which is another problem in and of itself. They absolutely weren't prepared for an off-schedule live ball event (like a fumbled snap, etc).
The aftermath: DQ spiked his headset in frustration with JD5 - not with the team, not with himself. He knew JD5 messed up the game at that point. What's very telling - in his presser, DQ said he hadn't seen or talked to JD5 yet after the game. What? It's one of the most embarrassing moments in NFL history, and 2 of the top 3 guys responsible, and closest to each other, haven't even seen or talked to each other while out on the field / walking back / in the locker room yet? Again, extremely telling. It's because there was a bit of lingering heat there from the play.

Rams vs. Us
Seeing Stafford and McVay operate and the urgency during this two-minute drill moments ago on MNF just infuriated me all over again. Night and day difference in clock management.

[Schefter] Per the NFL: 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw has been suspended without pay for one game for an act of unsportsmanlike conduct during Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. He misses this week's game against the Commanders.

If no timeouts was discussed in the huddle, how is Daniels not most responsible for the OT blunder?
According to Yahoo Sports, Chris Paul said the lack of timeouts was discussed in the huddle. Quinn could have simplified things by calling a spike, but once the situation is communicated, shouldn’t the quarterback be responsible for acting on it?
What bothers me even more is the lack of urgency afterward. Daniels stayed down for roughly five seconds before teammates pulled him up. It looked like the quarterback needed other players to alert him to the urgency, rather than being the one directing everyone. We can’t know exactly what they said, but that hardly looked like someone aware the game was ticking away.
His “top down” comment also rubbed me wrong. To be fair, he said “Ultimately, it’s on me,” too. But I wanted to hear that and not “top down” first; I can’t imagine this happening to Brady or Manning but if it did, don’t think that would have been the response.
I blame the coaches for unnecessary risk and Daniels for the decisive execution failure. For those blaming Quinn most: was calling another play a bigger mistake than Daniels’s apparent lack of situational awareness, even after the timeout discussion?

Yo guys, we still got a QB
Despite all this crazy shit, Jayden looked like the real fucking deal! We’re on year 3 and there’s no doubt that he is a franchise QB.
Did he and the coaches have a gaffe to end the game? Yes.
Is his injury history a concern for us? Yes.
But, the kid can PLAY. Even the Giants on the other sideline don’t know what they have in Dart yet.
Few teams in this league can hang their head on “We have a QB”
We are one of those few teams. We need to effectively build around him and give him the best chances to succeed. But, we’re not left wondering “Is he gonna be a Trey Lance? Should we draft a QB in the first round?”
Yesterday sucked ass.
But, we had a QB whole does not have the question mark of “Is he good enough?” The answer is yes. Never in my life have I been able to say that about a Washington QB

More ranting but not about the OT
WE ARE UP 14 IN THE FOURTH QUARTER
WE ALLOW 14 UNANSWERED TO JAMEIS WINSTON
14 UNANSWERED TO JAMEIS FUCKING WINSTON
Generational collapse, I don't care if the refs called back an INT. You can't hinge stopping Jameis fucking Winston with your new and imrproved defense on a ref call.

[Svrluga]: Before his crushing mistake, Jayden Daniels showed his electric best
When Daniels feels like himself — when he is himself — it’s not an exaggeration to say there’s no one like him in the entire NFL. It’s not just that, in miserably wet conditions, he completed 17 of 25 passes for 199 yards without anything close to an interception. Or that the box score shows he ran nine times for 103 more yards, including two scores.
“For somebody that’s missed time,” Quinn said, “I thought he played sharp.”
For Daniels, sharp means being accurate with the football, which he was. The Commanders’ second possession of overtime — the possession that should have led to the game-winning kick — featured exactly-where-they-had-to-be throws to Terry McLaurin to start and Treylon Burks to put them in position to kick. Daniels looked comfortable in just his third start in the offense of new coordinator David Blough, notably pulling off an audible that set up a 22-yard run from back Jacory Croskey-Merritt.
“The small things that won’t show up on the stat sheet — him at the line of scrimmage, killing a run from one direction to another vs. the blitz,” Quinn said. “And demonstrating the ability to use his legs when he need to — and not forcing that.”
About that: There are a lot of quarterbacks who throw an accurate ball. There are a lot of quarterbacks who are versed at getting their offense into the right play. There just aren’t a lot of quarterbacks who can put on tape the two touchdown runs Daniels pulled off Sunday.

How Come New York never helps us?
Ad the title says. How come they never help us on bad calls. They just let it go and we get screwed. Watching this Monday night game and they instantly changed the roughing the passer call.

Every Team Needs A Madden Degenerate
Given everything that went down in overtime yesterday, I am a true believer that every team needs a Madden degenerate on the sidelines for clock management. I’m talking your true neckbearded professional who does nothing but mentally plan when timeouts should be taken, balls get spiked, and ensure the clock doesn’t hit 0:00 unnecessarily. He/she should have veto authority over the head coach. Our team has been trash at time management since I became a fan in 2011… I truly think this would fix that.
