Costs

Pushing the three stalls on one side of this design together so that they're next to each, will eliminate two stall walls. Based on this pricing, you would be looking at $450 savings for just the wall panels.

Edit: Hi again, sorry for the edit, and sorry if I’m being annoying for making this. I apologize if I am being annoying, obnoxious, or ruining the fun for the past couple of days when I answer, as some replies on here have been saying. I believe this subreddit is an amazing place built on an interesting idea, and following some tragic events in my life in recent years, I have been very fortunate to meet a bunch of wonderful people, questions, and great answerers in this community. To hear many attacks and allegations directed at me, especially ones I have constantly denied, to the point I possibly made this place worse on accident, is personally saddening to me. You have every right to hate on me.

This and I'm no plumber, but I'd imagine this would unnecessarily complicate the piping setup.

Edit: My notifications are full of so many conflicting answers lmao

499

u/aurumtt 13h ago

i don't think the piping will make much difference in cost when it's newly installed. the panels totally would though. these badboys are deceptively expensive.

317

u/Any_Contract_1016 12h ago

That's why they cut costs by eliminating the bottom six inches.

409

u/camel_case_user 12h ago

And the half inch around the door so everyone can see you poop

274

u/Chimpbot 12h ago

If folks want to watch, then I'm gonna give 'em a show.

113

u/subtxtcan 12h ago

That's the spirit!

104

u/Chimpbot 12h ago

It's why I always carry sparklers and a t-shirt gun with me at all times.

27

u/Chrisscott25 12h ago

Yes! Nothing like lighting a sparkler and doing the sprinkler for an eager audience…

17

u/jervin22000 11h ago

If I’m taking a shit I ain’t lighting anything in the same room.

3

u/MsMercyMain 11h ago

What, you don't want to do an accidental terrorism!? Coward

2

u/jervin22000 11h ago

If I’m going to do a terrorism it’s going to be on-purpose and not pantless. Besides I spent a lot of time growing the hair back there I’m not in a hurry to singe it.

2

u/Hexual_Innuendo 6h ago

Come on, live a little before you go... in a sudden explosion or spontaneous self combustion...

Would I need to pay more for the extras? Asking for a friend.

5

u/johnnyhandbags 12h ago

Are you a hockey mascot?

8

u/Chimpbot 12h ago

I mean, I wouldn't say no if a team approached me.

4

u/Badger-of-Briarwood 12h ago

Please tell me the t-shirt gun isn't for launching t-shirts!

3

u/MagnumMyth 12h ago

He's not just waving the sparklers around with his hands...

2

u/Chimpbot 12h ago

Let's just say that it can be used to launch a variety of objects and materials.

3

u/digiliquid01 11h ago

TP... There's always someone who needs it 🥴

1

u/jervin22000 5h ago

I’ve always wanted one for launching suction cup jelly dongs at people who drive like dicks so they have something to go fuck themselves with.

6

u/Darkspire303 9h ago

Too soon

2

u/DescriptionIll5227 11h ago

I appreciate that you elaborated with this second comment, because after reading your first comment my immediate thought was How?"

1

u/Chimpbot 11h ago

Oh, I have my ways.

1

u/BonitaTres 11h ago

My very sleepy eyes read this as sht gun, damn

1

u/Nukkuma 10h ago

Have you priced a t-shirt gun? 800 buckeros for one gun 😭

1

u/Dry_Bad_3599 2h ago

Youre the guy that shot that tee to me!! Thanks again.

1

u/The_Troyminator 55m ago

Just don’t mix up the t shirt gun and toilet.

1

u/Professional-Mix-562 51m ago

THATS why you carry yours?! I keep mine incase the toilet doesn’t flush…. Shit really hits the fan then….

1

u/Flat___________ 12h ago

Yup! When I poop it’s like exorcising a poltergeist 😆😆😆

1

u/peptide2 10h ago

Shit like no one’s listening!

10

u/PretSafe4677 12h ago

Now if we charged people to see that show we could make up the extra wall cost in no time!

9

u/Biabolical 12h ago

Remember folks, the first three rows are the splash zone!

1

u/slackfrop 10h ago

I’m going upper deck, just like The Babe

2

u/kaur_virunurm 11h ago

Do you know the ROI on installing cameras into the stalls? Asking for a friend.

2

u/kangarutan 11h ago

Nah bro, they gotta sub to the OF if they want that show

2

u/sworththebold 9h ago

Everyone knows that when someone watches you poop, you lock eyes with them as a show of dominance.

Hey I don’t make the rules

1

u/AntonioSLodico 6h ago

If you really wanna give a show, you gotta be a wallfacer!

2

u/AvengingBlowfish 9h ago

I like to squat on the seat like a bird of prey.

2

u/iamshifter 8h ago

Make irrationally intense eye contact.

Establish dominance.

1

u/King0Horse 12h ago

Anyone can piss on the floor. Be a hero: shit on the ceiling!

2

u/Chimpbot 12h ago

That's what the thing that, for legal purposes, I have to call a "T-Shirt Gun" is for.

1

u/Primary-Floor8574 12h ago

Bonus points if you can get all 4 walls covered, and a fancy design on the floor.

1

u/NoNefariousness4598 12h ago

"sir, please close your stall door"

1

u/I4mnot4robot 11h ago

I get better tips when I sit reversed

1

u/Snoo-20174 11h ago

A real shitshow!

1

u/phager76 10h ago

Who...Does...Number...Two....Work For?!?

1

u/toomanyukes 9h ago

You show 'em who's boss!

1

u/grumpyligaments 8h ago

"Who does #2 work for?"

1

u/OwnConsideration408 7h ago

Never break eye contact

1

u/Forbden_Gratificatn 6h ago

They could at least pay you for that shit show.

1

u/KreagerStein 3h ago

That would be a shit show

1

u/grouchy-koi 3h ago

Found the Imperial Roman.

15

u/SavageTrireaper 11h ago

That’s a Schrödinger’s box of Bathroom usage. The stall is empty until you look through the crack and make eye contact with someone pooping and collapse the waveform.

1

u/MrBootylove 10h ago

That's actually the plot of Dark Matter. A scientist travels to other dimensions by achieving superposition while taking a fat dump at work.

1

u/Forbden_Gratificatn 6h ago

Schrodinger's shitbox. You dont know if deadly gas has been released until you know if someone is in there.

14

u/less_accurate 11h ago

That is one weird US thing. Having a large gap at the bottom and then a smaller gap everywhere else. I am getting anxiety attacks just by thinking about it

2

u/ReliefNo1362 7h ago

In China, some places get the half wall that comes up to your waist so you can make eye contact with people before you squat in the squatty potty. So like....anything is better than that.

1

u/UntidyVenus 4h ago

For toddlers to crawl under and scare the poop out of you.

1

u/HoOkAySo 3h ago

That “weird US thing” is actually the ADA. The gap provides toe clearance for wheelchair users while still keeping the stall size small.

1

u/bshr49 2h ago

I thought toe clearance is just for forward approach. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the ADA clearance circle impede stall walls.

12

u/fenrsulfr 11h ago

When I notice someone watching I just start to jerk harder.

10

u/Apart_Debate_6515 12h ago

Pfft. Doors are for the weak, we're just gonna Value Engineer those out of the project

3

u/Firesine330 9h ago

Note to everyone who thinks this guy is joking: he's not.

3

u/Apart_Debate_6515 9h ago

Absolutely not. I've been a contractor for a long time, and I've learned a lot about threatening architects with the consequences of their own actions

2

u/Pension_Pale 11h ago

You know what? Forget the stalls altogether!

1

u/Apart_Debate_6515 10h ago

It's poop with a buddy day! Look at all that saved money

2

u/Pindogger 2h ago

I worked at a Mexican auto plant for a short period. There were no doors on the stalls. If you desired a modicum of privacy, you carried a newspaper and held it up like a barrier.

10

u/lowteq 12h ago

The eye lock through the gap is so creepy.

17

u/Repulsive-Basket7435 11h ago

Grunt louder and maintain eye contact to show superiority

6

u/QuipCrafter9 12h ago

Peeking through there in the men’s room is a great way to get your ass kicked where there are no cameras and a lot of hard surfaces. I mean “slip and fall”

2

u/MrBootylove 10h ago

I'm sure the peeping tom will patiently wait for their attacker to wipe their ass and pull their pants up.

2

u/PressureItchy9372 9h ago

brave of you to assume that all guys wipe their butts.

1

u/Gwynito 6h ago

How do they not? Wouldn't your ass rash up like crazy if you didn't?

1

u/PressureItchy9372 2h ago

oh, don't ask me. I'm firmly in the "bidet til clean, then blot dry with T.P." club. No skidmarks for me please.

2

u/QuipCrafter9 9h ago edited 5h ago

I’ll wipe my ass with him, my weighty dingus flopping in the breeze and all

Jk I’d probably invite them in very loudly and animated, to draw attention to their behavior and make them feel rediculous

5

u/Vassar-Longfellow 10h ago

Only in the US though. In many places in Europe the doors are all the way down. Which is nice since many are unisex.

0

u/HoOkAySo 3h ago

Europe doesn’t have ADA, which specifies the bottom gap for toe clearance (wheelchair accessibility).

3

u/lankyleper 11h ago

We have 2 stalls at work. 1 has a strip that covers that gap on the non-hinge side. The other has no strip and is oriented at the precise longitude of your anatomical confluence. The icing on the cake is that it's right across from the mirror/sinks. Great setup for someone to inadvertently view your groin-al region!

1

u/Boring-Persimmon6739 12h ago

watch if you dare!

1

u/Little-Staff-1076 12h ago

I like to imagine that when buying these poop shack walls and doors that they sell a standard stall with reasonable tolerances. Then there’s a drop down menu for “viewing slits” that every single retail store is selecting when buying their setups. Gotta have that eye contact with customers when you’re cleaning the bathroom and someone is dropping a log.

1

u/Short_Ad_8635 12h ago

So, glory holes are just to save material and costs?

1

u/Not_an_okama 11h ago

Thats to make construction as cheap as possible. Much easier to mount in a 1/4 gap than 1/16" gap

1

u/MrGumburcules 11h ago

That's just for team building

1

u/Shankar_0 11h ago

That was actually me.

I'm not sorry.

1

u/DetectiveChmpionFace 11h ago edited 9h ago

Hey I didnt request single play to be comfortable

Edit:single ply

1

u/Terrorscream 10h ago

Apparently that's a very common thing in America, baffling. Glad my country has better public bathroom regulations.

1

u/inthemindofadogg 10h ago

Or just remove the dividers altogether. Will save a ton of money!

2

u/camel_case_user 10h ago

Get roman style with it, hell yeah

1

u/CommercialSomewhere8 10h ago

Thats a small glory hole. Wide dicks are too much of a liability.

1

u/ImYourGodX 10h ago

Thats an american problem

1

u/UsedDragon 10h ago

all of these things are features that are designed to assist you with sharing, and that means caring.

1

u/Killjoycmdrkj 9h ago

Jokes on them I poop facing the flusher for this reason! :D

1

u/NoBonus6969 8h ago

Plus now the side walls will need a little window so we can watch them poop while we pee. Ladies don't understand

1

u/Critical-End6308 7h ago

I went to Germany and the stalls went to the floor and no gaps anywhere. It is possible.

1

u/HoOkAySo 3h ago

Legally, in the US the stalls would have to double in size in order to eliminate the bottom gaps. The gap provides toe clearance for wheelchair footrests.

1

u/ididntunderstandyou 7h ago

Only in the Land of the Brave

1

u/AlGekGenoeg 6h ago

Why do American toilets even still have a door at this point 🤷🏻‍♂️

1

u/iieeef 6h ago

and sometimes a little circle from the wall

1

u/MuscaMurum 3h ago

How else are people going to know that I have a "wide stance"?

1

u/PoweredbyAndroid 1h ago

And cut out an additional whole on one or both sides of the side walls of the stall. For CoSt CuTtInG measures....

-4

u/One-Ad-4295 12h ago

That half-inch makes it very easy to see if the stall is occupied.

17

u/kzwix 12h ago

It's a US-only thing, though. In civilized countries, we have stalls which close properly, hide you from inquisitive gazes, and people still manage easily to know if a stall is occupied - usually thanks to an ingenious device on the lock indicating whether said lock is open or closed (green or red, "Open" or "Occupied", etc...)

1

u/RogueThneed 12h ago

So the illiterate red-green colorblind people just have to guess? Not very civilized!

1

u/kzwix 12h ago

I agree. They should add a picture of an empty toilet stall, or a gruesome view of something using it, in order to be really universal !

1

u/exploding_pancake 12h ago

They bathroom stalls in USA need to fit very strict regulations to make sure they are accessible for disabled people. It makes a proper fitting door hard to do.

2

u/kzwix 12h ago

Well, we do have toilets for disabled people, too. Wider doors, even wider stalls, usually with a sink and faucet, sometimes a changing table for babies too, and the like.

It's honestly a bad excuse, because it's very easy to cut wood panels to the right dimensions, or to provide doors or such panels from various standard widths.

Also, you don't need them to fit exactly the right size, as long as they can overlap, for instance (usually, the door is INSIDE the cubicle, so if it's wider by a few centimeters (or inches) to the left and right, it's not a problem, as long as the hinges and lock can be used properly. Just like you can see in many pool changing rooms, you know.

Nah, that "gap" probably has other reasons, like allowing a manager to sneak a peek to ensure you're not doing drugs, or merely browsing your smartphone, instead of taking a dump... but that's a shitty mindset, honestly.

1

u/HoOkAySo 3h ago

Literally no manager would ever do this and manufacturers certainly wouldn’t add features to facilitate such a thing.

-3

u/One-Ad-4295 12h ago

What if somebody forgets to close the lock?
Why do people in your country want to spy on each other taking a crap, that's gross, the people in my superior country would never do that.

3

u/kzwix 12h ago

It happens, and the person, in that case, is just as visible as she would have been, permanently, through that gap. But just until that person scrambles to close the door (or silently stares you down, daring you to enter anyway - depending on her mood, street cred, etc.)

Maybe the fact that the door is closed and locked should be enough, without having to double-check using a crack in-between the door and the stall ?

u/one_last_cow 12h ago

It's so he can keep an eye on you

5

u/LegitimateGift1792 12h ago

I like how the floor is filthy and now it is on his shirt.

1

u/loveatthelisp 12h ago

I don't think he's even wearing shoes, so I doubt he cares

1

u/LekgoloCrap 8h ago

I bet the floor was clean before he got there

1

Fofão, it is you?

1

u/DominusLuxic 6h ago

... Why does his face look like a ballsack?

1

Believe it or not, it's a kids show character.

19

u/ParroKomvol 12h ago

In America yes. Rest of the world: not so much

14

u/under_the_c 11h ago

Oh, so now 6 inches is a lot...

13

u/IndividualStranger98 11h ago

I got spoiled being in the Netherlands the last two weeks - Full on door for each stall…America would never

4

u/HobsHere 11h ago

Except for Buc-ee"s!

2

u/DoHeathenThings 7h ago

Ill drive a little out of my way to shit at a Buc-ee's

1

u/MakeItHappenSergant 6h ago

I'll go a little out of my way to shit on Buc-ee's

2

u/Phyreflye_1376 9h ago

Actually, we are, in a number of places I've been. Mostly restaurants and maybe an upscale dept store?

1

u/Forbden_Gratificatn 6h ago

Full doors and this design create a problem with being able to share the toilet paper when the inevitable happens. Also no foot tapping for those so inclined. Yea, im looking at you, sir.

2

u/Constant-Quit7608 12h ago

And the small 3 inch holes about waist height.

2

u/TheMonkeyInCharge 11h ago

Just you, America. Just you.

1

u/wobble_flop 12h ago

They did that for Larry craig

1

u/mal_guinness 11h ago

Make sure the urinal dividers barely go up to the waist too.

1

u/Tactless_Ninja 10h ago

I like my privacy as much as anyone else, but that is so they could see if the junkies or elderly fell over.

1

u/archseattle 10h ago

In the US that’s also done for the toe clearance required for the accessible stall at the end if it’s not a certain width. This seems to be falling out of fashion though with many clients preferring the wider accessible stall and lower partitions. Some clients have even requested the all-gender restrooms that require actual stud framed walls and regular doors for each compartment.

1

u/JayHuhman 10h ago

No, it makes mopping the floor much easier.

1

u/CariadocThorne 10h ago

Reason #347 im never moving to the US.

1

u/POD80 10h ago

I mean there is benefit to seeing a stall is occupied before you try the door and find out it didn't get latched well.

Are we really all so ashamed of our bodies that we can have someone see our shoes beneath the stall walls?

1

u/orangesfwr 9h ago

George is getting upset!

1

u/Fantastic-Pear6241 9h ago

That's only in the US to be fair.

1

u/PSX1990 9h ago

Yeah tell me about it, I always wondered where the main half of my “D#%€” went, now I know it was eliminated for cost cutting reasons. :(

1

u/mirhagk 9h ago

There's a variety of factors, in addition to what others say it also stops it from being it's own room, which would require ventilation and sprinklers (though granted that's more about eliminating the top)

1

u/ComasArentFun 8h ago

In America. In the civilised world, anyone over 5 foot tall isn't expected to accidentally watch their colleagues straining out last night lasagne.

We have floor to ceiling coverage usually

I'm 6'2". My trip to the US was horrendous.. I've never seen more balding, angry, stressed businessmen trying to usher out cocaine shits in my life and it's not something I want to repeat

1

u/Due-Ball8157 8h ago

It’s to see if it’s occupied as opposed to you knocking / pushing on every stall. Material savings is just an added benefit

1

u/Capitan_Typo 6h ago

And so you can see if someone has collapsed in the cubicle without needing to force entry.

1

u/FamiliarStruggle-80 5h ago

The bottom 6 inches are missing so you can sweep a mop through there instead of having to squegee the corners

1

u/BroadConsequences 4h ago

Im honestly okay with the bottom missing. Im 6'5" and i always get that awkward reverse mirror look when i stand up in a stall. Make them taller!

1

u/MeishinTale 3h ago

Actually there are studies about that 🤔 Eliminating bottom of the door reduces privacy which reduces time spent per use in average which increases bathroom rate / flow

1

u/Cultural_Star25 2h ago

That’s not why. Factory size is what it is. They don’t custom order minus 6”. Or buy a full panel and cut 6” off.

1

u/PresentRaspberry6814 25m ago

I think that is an American thing. You guys may an well put one plank with a hinge on it and call it a stall door.

1

u/Electronic-Bid-3723 18m ago

Eliminating the bottom 6 inches also makes it easier to clean & see if the stall is occupied

0

u/Deep_Working1 12h ago

Check out Ryan George on YouTube, he has a surprisingly good explanation on the design of public bathrooms.
