Question how long did it take for baby #2?

hi everyone. me and my husband have decided to ttc for a second child! we will start after our baby is 1.5yo (shes 9m now). I want to prepare myself, and have a few questions. with our first baby it happened on the first try so we’re not aware of a lot of ttc information.

my questions are:
- how long did it take for you? i have seen both it takes longer and less time and was wondering how the experience was for others.
- i had an emergency c section. if you had one as well, did it affect the ttc journey? anything i should prepare for? (also no worries we have green light from out docs to try after baby now has reached 1y)
- lastly, im not expecting to get lucky like the first time again so any advice is appreciated!

Question Second loss in a row trying for the second, I am not well

Hi, new to this group but not to the matter. I just had another later loss due to chromosomal abnormalities, the second one in just 6 month. I have a son who is almost 5, light of my life. I really wanted a second child, so finally my husband agreed to try. We are older, tried for our second when I was 38, and he was 40. Got pregnant on a first try just like with our first, but the baby had a severe case of T 18, non viable with life. The doctors called it a fluke, we did our karyograms and me and my husband are clear, healthy . so we started to try again, conceived on a 3rd try, I got my hopes up and then this Monday at the 12 week scan, just horror nothing was right, multiple abnormalities , again chromosomal, again non compatible with life. I am beyond devastated and the doctors told us it’s probably my eggs that are defected. I have been on every possible supplement for egg quality for almost 2 years, I lead a healthy life, never smoked drank did drugs, nothing. please has anyone had a similar issue? I feel like I would just crawl up and disappear from this life if I didn’t have to be here for my son. And everyone around me is having their second, third whatno. Sorry for this long rant I just wish I could talk to someone who is in a similar situation.

Question I’m over 35, what is first course of action with fertility treatments

I am 37 next month and currently trying for a second baby, this road so far has been much for difficult than trying for my first kiddo who was conceived on our first try at 34. I’m going to schedule an appointment with a fertility specialist, if anyone can tell me what to expect as far as medications and treatments I’d greatly appreciate it. I have no known conditions such as PCOS or endometriosis. I’m so stressed out because of my age, I had wanted two kids close in age but an emergency c-section derailed that. Any help greatly appreciated!

Question Seriously considering IVF and hoping to hear from others out there

My first baby was conceived on the first cycle at the age of 31. So of course, I got it in my head that the second would be no problem. We started trying just before she turned 18 months, when I was 33. It took 4 cycles and then I had a MMC at 11 weeks, with the fetus stopping growth around 6-7 weeks. After miscarrying in September, days before my 34th birthday, it took until the following June to get pregnant again, about 8 cycles of trying. We finally got pregnant again on the first cycle I tried Clomid. I miscarried again at 7 weeks, the fetus had stopped growing at 5 weeks. Now I’m about a month out from my 35th birthday and waiting for my first period post miscarriage. Next cycle I’ll go in for the Receptiva procedure to see if I have silent Endo, as well as check at the same time for Endometritis, and have an SIS. We did a blood draw for APS (no results back yet), karyotypes too (mine is normal, his is still out there). The dna fragmentation test came back at 11% which the RE said is really good, so it’s probably not him.

So the thing is, I always wanted a lot of kids. I just started late. But somehow still thought it’d be possible because so many women around me have kids late. My grandma had my dad at 41 or 42. So obviously my illusion feels shattered and like I’ll be lucky if I get just one more. But I can’t help still wanting more. IVF feels like the one possibility that might mean more children beyond 2 because I’ll have embryos banked, but I know there are no guarantees, especially since half my problem is staying pregnant rather than getting pregnant.

Do any of you good people have any advice or success stories? What should I be primarily considering or aware of going in?

There’s also so much pressure to hurry and decide because our coverage for IVF starts over in January, so I’d have to try to do as much of the process before then as possible. I also don’t know how long it takes and all this is assuming I don’t have Endo and have to have the surgery or take medication for another 2-3 months.

My AMH is 1.66 and ATC is 15
No hormone issues or anything else from the blood tests. HSG was normal too.

Question If we TTC this cycle, baby would be born around 1st kid’s birthday. Try or wait?

Casually trying for 3 cycles so far and I used a pregnancy calculator and if I got pregnant this cycle, due date would be 2 weeks after my preschooler’s birthday. I was induced at 38 weeks with her and if successful, 38 weeks would fall on her birthday. I don’t know if we should “sit this one out” to avoid crowding birthdays? I’m 34 but feeling time pressure. What would you do?

Question Only fell pregnant the first time because of a HSG

I genuinely believe after 14 cycles of trying that we only fell pregnant because my tubes were flushed. I’m now experiencing secondary infertility again and wondering if it’s worth paying for a HSG again.

Anyone else experienced this?

Question Letrozole

Can you share your experiences with letrozole? My ob is recommending it for unexplained infertility but I’m seeing its used for breast cancer. Has it helped you conceive or is it a waste of time?

Question Ttc while breastfeeding

hat was your first cycle like after your period returned? were they regular? did you struggle to conceive? stay pregnant? take supplements?

I just got mine , 16 months postpartum on the 29th of this month. I believe this is the first time I ovulated late, if I even ovulated. only tested with strips and had cervical mucus / cramps. next month I’ll temp if this didn’t work. I’ve never really tracked before. I just got my first period & followed what the Flo gods predicted for me.

I’ve gotten pregnant 3 times ( and stayed pregnant) while giving breastfeeding. my current toddler is a lot clinger which I believe may have caused my ovulation delay. idk why but this time has just been the hardest on me mentally.

just don’t know what to expect because things are different this time. I feel really alone and when I went to ask my dr to order labs I was told no. just hoping to hear other experiences & stories!!

Question TTC third baby

Hello! I’m after some success stories.
We decided earlier this year we want to try for our third baby and much to our shock it’s not happening
I’m tracking everything and confirm ovulation with temp tracking. I am 33 but my first two were easy to conceive so this is new territory.
Currently 10DPO and negative test.
Will it ever happen?? 🥲
I feel like I’m doing it all. I sleep well, track ovulation, take my prenatals, I’ve modified my diet, I manage stress.
What else can I do!!

Question Breastfeeding, ovulating, but only ~7-day luteal phase — did anyone still conceive?

Hi everyone! I’m wondering if anyone here has had a similar experience while trying for another baby.
I’m 10 months postpartum and still breastfeeding, mostly in the morning, evening, before bed, and usually once overnight. My period returned around 6 months postpartum, but my cycles have been pretty irregular since then.

I’ve been tracking ovulation with BBT/Natural Cycles and more recently with Mira (LH, E3G, PdG and FSH). The good news is that I do seem to be ovulating. This cycle, for example, I had a very clear LH surge and Natural Cycles subsequently confirmed ovulation based on my temperature shift.

What worries me is my luteal phase. In the cycles where I’ve been able to confirm ovulation, it seems to be only around 7 days long. My PdG also doesn’t seem to stay particularly high after ovulation.

I’m wondering whether this could simply be related to breastfeeding and my hormones still regulating postpartum. I’m not really ready to fully wean yet, but we would really like to conceive again.

Has anyone here had very short luteal phases (around 7–8 days) while breastfeeding and still managed to conceive? Did your luteal phase gradually lengthen while you continued breastfeeding, or did you have to reduce/wean feeds before things improved?

I’ve also contacted my gynecologist because I’d like to understand what’s actually happening hormonally rather than just guessing based on my tracking data.

Would really appreciate hearing your experiences ❤️

Question Secondary infertility; RPL of euploid embryos

Hi all,

I am looking for ideas and feedback on my journey with secondary infertility. After being unable to conceive for 24 cycles, we turned to IVF. We proceeded to have two back-to-back miscarriages of euploid embryos.

Background: I am a 37yo female with a 40yo husband. We conceived our now 4yo with no trouble at all. My husband and I are in excellent health, and on paper all our fertility tests have come back normal.

Timeline:
August 2022 —Gave birth to first child via c-section after conceiving quickly and naturally. No complications (no scar tissue or ithmocele) from c-section.
May 2024-October 2025–TTC naturally for 24 cycles. (Not totally natural, as we did two cycles of letrozole and one unmediated IUI). Incorporated a super clean fertility-supporting diet, supplements, and acupuncture. Never conceived.
November 2025–Began IVF evaluation and treatment. Doc says I have slightly t-shaped uterus but not concerning enough to require repair.
December 2025–Had egg retrieval following very standard protocol resulting in 7 euploid embryos.
January 2026–Treated for endometritis. Then first FET (modified natural) worked!
March 2026–No heartbeat at 8-week appointment after having heard heartbeat at 6-week appointment. Embryo had stopped growing at ~6.5 weeks. Had a D&C.
April 2026–Hysteroscopy to remove products of conception.
June 2026–Second FET (modified natural) worked!
July 2026–Heartbeat detected at 6 weeks but embryo stops developing soon after. Another D&C.
July/August 2026–Reccurent Pregnancy Loss blood panel comes back normal.

My doctor‘s current theory is that both embryos had issues that the genetic testing didn’t catch. He is optimistic that we will eventually be successful since my body previously carried a healthy pregnancy to term.

Looking for
-Alternate theories
-Ideas for additional testing
-Ideas for different protocol (doc says to keep protocol since implantation is not an issue)
-Similar stories with a happy ending

Thank you 🤍🤍🤍

Question Should I get my short luteal phase checked? (9 days)

I’m out this cycle again. 😔 I was actually feeling a little hopeful this month because I thought maybe my cycle was finally improving.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been doing everything I can .. taking supplements and vitamins, going to bed earlier, eating healthier.. trying to take better care of myself, etc.

My positive OPK has consistently been around CD17 since June, but this cycle I got my positive on CD15. I know CD15 may still not be considered “early” compared to what some people experience, but for me, it felt like a small improvement, so I thought maybe… just maybe… this could be our cycle.

I was also hoping that even if I didn’t get a positive, at least my luteal phase might be a little longer this time. But today I’m 9 DPO and my period came. So another 9-day luteal phase. 😞

I feel really, really upset. I’ve been trying to hold it together, but honestly, I’m crying inside. I feel guilty and sad that I haven’t been able to give my son a sibling.

I really wanted to make it happen this year, but it feels like things just aren’t working out. I’m already 35 and my son is 5, so I’m racing with time..

For those who have had a consistently short luteal phase around 9 days, did you get it checked out? Did you manage to conceive after visiting the doctor and taking the right medications?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through something similar. ❤️

Question Has anyone else been prescribed birth control to help get pregnant?

Hi all a little bit of background info:
I am 35 and husband is 30. We have two children who are 6 and 4 who were both conceived first cycle so this is my first time in this position.

Been trying for 14 months now for baby 3 and basically as soon as I got my husband on board my cycles became weird.

I have been to the gynaecologist/OB and had bloods, pelvic ultrasound and colposcopy done and all the results come back in the normal range.
I am now spotting for about a week before my period and then get my period so bleeding for about 14 days a month which is exhausting.

I have had two chemical pregnancies this year which I have never experienced prior to this.

I think I have a luteal phase defect as I am spotting from cycle day 21/22 until my period arrives, sometimes I will stop spotting for 2 days then start my period.

The gynaecologist won’t give me progesterone suppositories until I get a positive pregnancy test.
But she has pushed birth control on me, specifically the progesterone only mini pill for a few months.
I feel like she won’t actually help me until I take the birth control for a while.

Has anyone else been prescribed birth control to get pregnant? Or I guess to regulate cycles??

Nothing else has helped so far so I started taking it but it seems so counter productive. I’m pretty upset about it. I never wanted to take birth control ever again because of the side effects so I’m having a hard time emotionally with it.

Does anyone have any insight on this or suggestions on what to do next?

IVF is out of the question as we don’t qualify for any fertility treatments and I don’t want to put my body through that.

Question Negative 11/12 DPO

Looking for advice or hope. Has anyone ever tested negative on 11-12 DPO? But then ended up getting a positive ? I’m very sad right now and I’m hoping I just tested too early or don’t have enough HCG TO SHOW… I’ve lost hope. Convinced I am not pregnant. It’s a whirlwind of emotions. My expected period is the 15th….

Question Losing hope

It was my 40th birthday 3 months ago and I've been trying to have a second baby for 2 years. In that time Ive had a chemical pregnancy, a missed miscarriage and am about to start my 5th cycle of letrozole with monitoring (no trigger shot and no IUI). I was very lucky and conceived my first child quickly and with no issues but the last two years is making me feel like it just isn't going to happen again for me. IVF is not an option due to cost. Does anyone with a similar situation have any success stories - either pregnancy stories when all hope felt completely lost or stories on how to accept and move on from secondary infertility?

Question Should I do ivf?

We started trying in September 2024 and I had an ectopic pregnancy in march 2025 which ended up in emergency surgery to remove my left fallopian tube. I didnt even know I was pregnant which made it even more confusing.

Since then weve been trying each month and the past 6-8 months with letrozole. Still no positive test.

Deep inside I believe that i'll get pregnant naturally but now that its been almost a year of trying and it still hasn't happened...i'm just unsure if we should just do IVF now. We can do it at anytime as its a funded cycle, just nervous about it and dont know if we should keep trying or just go for ivf.

What would you do? Does anyone have any similar stories?

Question TTC while breastfeeding?

Does breastfeeding make TTC harder? My son is 13 months and is a little boob barnacle. He rarely takes solids and I’m struggling with weaning him. He maybe latches at night for less than 5 minutes 1-2x between 10pm and 5am and then frequent feeds during the day.

My periods came back in April and since then my cycles have been 41, 42, and 43 days. I don’t track much outside of apps and my ultrahuman ring, and because I’ve been told ovulation can be delayed we try every day from the first day my period ends until my cycle starts up again.

I’m currently on CD42 and my pregnancy test was negative. The pharmacist told me that pregnancy wasn’t likely while breastfeeding and that I’m either having periods and not ovulating at all, ovulating very close to when my period starts, or my prolactin levels are too high to conceive.

I’m just looking for some advice. We’ve been trying for 5 cycles now.

Thank you!

Question TTC before period returns while breastfeeding?

I’m 12 months postpartum with my second baby and still don’t have my period back. I really want to get pregnant again soon, so I’m starting to feel a little anxious about it.

With my first, my period came back at 11 months postpartum and I got pregnant that very first cycle, so I kind of had it in my head that I’d probably have a similar timeline this time. Obviously I know one month isn’t a huge difference, but I really want to have another baby with a close age gap and it feels like that timeline is slowly slipping away.

I’m nursing my 1 year old about 2ish times during the day and then whenever he wants overnight. Sometimes that’s once or twice and sometimes it’s like 4–5 times. I really don’t want to wean just to get my period back, though. I’d love to get pregnant while still breastfeeding if my body will cooperate.

I’ve started using OPKs, but obviously it’s hard to know what’s going on when I don’t have a cycle to go by.

Has anyone here gotten pregnant before their first postpartum period? Or had their period return while still breastfeeding and nursing overnight? Did you do anything to help your fertility return, or did it just eventually happen?

I feel like I mostly see people talking about breastfeeding delaying fertility when they don’t want another baby yet, but I don’t see as much about people who are actually trying to conceive again while still breastfeeding.

Would love to hear your experiences! ❤️

Question Letrozole-cycles not being monitored normal?

Just out of curiosity, when you were prescribed Letrozole, were you closely monitored or have timing ultrasounds or anything? I’m on my second cycle and my OB hasn’t said anything about monitoring me at all, even with an increased dosage of 5mg. (IF this cycle doesn’t work she wants to go up to 3 pills so roughly 7.5 mg but also didn’t mention anything else). Should she be monitoring it more closely? I read it was because of the chance of multiples but is that true?

Question TTC for #2 at 36 almost 37

My husband and I have been trying for another. I’ve been taking prenatals, use my Oura ring, and Natural Cycles. Flo is also sometimes. I track my ovulati0n with clear blue digital and sometimes use the strips. The strips just give me different readings whenever i scan it into the NC app. We also use the every other day method as suggested by my OB.

It’s disheartening to see others getting pregnant around me after they had IVF. I’m happy for them, but now I am starting to know how they feel.

Are there any other tips to help conceive? I turn 37 in October. It took me about five months with my first.
What worked for you? Thanks in advance.

Question TTC #2 at 34

Trigger warning: miscarriage
A few questions, advice, and maybe solidarity?
I’m 34, we’ve been TTC with our second for 8 months now. I’ve had 2 anovulatory cycles in the past 3 months and varying cycle lengths/ovulation days (by 5-6 days or so) on the ones that I have ovulated. Is this enough to get a doctor to give me Clomid or Letrozole? I haven’t gotten a PCOS diagnosis (yet?). Husband got tested and everything is good on his end so that’s not the issue. It took us 6 months to conceive our first, with an early MC after 4 months but at least there was an indication that something was working. This time has been big fat negatives every time. Also, for anyone who struggled with their first or second, how long did it eventually take to be successful? Any tips or things that finally worked? Added context: I had a c section with our first.

Question success stories after taking longer to conceive second?

I am grateful to have a healthy toddler. She was conceived easily and I didn't realize how lucky I was at the time.

We've now been trying to conceive for >8 cycles and it is taking a really really big toll on me. Mentally I'm struggling, I'm not as supportive of a friend or partner, and I'm just really down and it's hard to live in this for so long.

I had normal initial labs and my HyCoSy showed a small synechiae but patent tubes. I am just really struggling/spiraling and am hoping for any success stories from people who conceived easily the first time and may have taken longer the second? I have gotten into the place of thinking that since it's been longer than 6 months and my first was easier that it won't happen and that something is just irreparably wrong this time around.

Really just looking for any hope <3

Question Is BBT reliable when taking progesterone supplements?

I started tracking BBT a few days ago for the first time and this is also my first cycle on Letrozole and progesterone supplements (Duphaston).

Honestly, my BBT is causing me more confusion than reassurance about whether I’ve actually ovulated 😪

My recent BBT:
Oct 2 — 36.20°C
Oct 4 — 36.29°C

Oct 5 — 36.21°C (started progesterone + OPK positive at 5pm)

Oct 6 — 36.31°C + my 1 and only BD at 11:50pm

Oct 7 — 36.46°C (today)

My OPK was getting darker on Oct 5 at 2pm and clearly positive at 5pm.

Would the BBT rise on Oct 7 still be useful for indicating ovulation, or can progesterone supplements cause this kind of temperature rise?

would I have already missed the fertile window by only BD-ing at 11:50pm last night? 😪

Question 15 months postpartum still not ovulating

Breastfeeding around 3x a day very spaced out and no ovulation in site but want to try for baby #2. Any advice?!
