Question What felt different about your successful TTC cycle?

Moms who were actively TTC: what happened during the cycle you finally got pregnant that was different from all the cycles you swore you were pregnant but weren’t?

I was on an antibiotic for strep. Makes me think my issue was a microbiome thing.

I had just been on an antibiotic two weeks before mine also

From what I’ve gathered in my limited 7 years of struggling, unexplained infertility seems to almost always be endo or a microbiome issue

And I had both! Ha

Did you have surgery for the endo?

Haha omg why was this me, too? I decided that I was going to get back in shape

I just happened to go on a hiking trip the first time and had an active week with family visiting the second time. Total coincidence... Maybe. 🤔

I was highly stressed and was high when I conceived for my second. For my third, I was mildly sick and also very stressed.

I gave up on getting pregnant and resigned myself to having to do ivf/iui treatments.

My husband started taking a supplement to help with fertility, but I don't remember what it was.

Yes! Me too. We were going to start IUI the following cycle and I had given up and wasn’t even thinking about it much that cycle. But I know that’s the most annoying answer- “stop stressing about it and it will happen!”

u/ShadowlessKat Aug 29 '26

Oh I was still stressing lol, I had just given up hope. Similar but different.

I got flu and COVID boosters during the luteal phase of my first monitored cycle at the fertility clinic, gave up on the monitoring after the third ultrasound finding no mature follicles, and finally ovulated almost a week later than usual (CD17 instead of my very consistent 11 or 12). I also took guaifenesin (generic Mucinex) for the first time but I didn't notice a difference in my CM.

ETA: I also held an acquaintance's newborn-sized baby (she was a few months old but had been a premie) at a party full of mostly child free friends during the TWW. And bought myself hands-free step-in sneakers.

Well…. The first time we were on a cruise drunk off margaritas and had sex like 3 times a day… the second time we were at home drunk off margaritas and had lots of sex… the second one ended in miscarriage so what did we do when I ovulated again? You guessed it… margaritas and lots of sex 🤷🏼‍♀️

This is the best! Sounds like a very relaxed way of dealing with the stress of TTC. Too bad I don't drink haha

You can make a margarita mocktail!

Absolutely nothing. Both times I threw a pity party, swore I was out, then tested positive the next day. So maybe more emotional? But also I’m quite known to throw a pity party. I literally felt absolutely nothing.

I took guafenesin.

To be honest, nothing at all! I went to urgent care for a spider bite around 8-9 DPO—maybe even a day or two later. Told them I might be pregnant because we'd been trying. They had me take a test and it was negative. They prescribed me some safe antibiotics just in case. I thought I was out that round for sure. Then about a week later I felt this random wave of nausea. Took a test the next morning and it was positive. Now the kid is 4.

I finally made peace that it wouldn’t happen and became genuinely okay with the beautiful life i had with one child.

Bam pregnancy lol cycle 10 and after a bummer found of IVF.

I knew it would happen that month because I had a weirdly calm feeling and the other times I was so anxious. It’s like my body knew this was the month

I got on zoloft a month prior. Also had an SIS done the cycle before the successful one— no findings but it may have cleared things out from my c section.

We tried for 13 months with no clear cause of infertility and it finally just happened— I’m 6 weeks tomorrow. Don’t lose hope!

I had just started acupuncture, my second round of letrozole, and SMEP for timing intercourse

I was worried about everything under the sun being dangerous in pregnancy, and the cycle we conceived, I had to just chill out and resume my normal living, instead of being worried about painting while pregnant, for example.

And then with my second, we conceived the first cycle, but I felt SO in tune with my body and my ovulation. Felt like I could time sex exactly to when my body was ready to make a baby.

The weekend I conceived #1 was an uncharacteristically good weekend. I did several things I wouldn’t naturally gravitate towards, but had a really good time. I had also started therapy the weeks leading up to ovulation. No idea if any of these things helped, but that’s what I remember so vividly.

I started taking vitamin B6. Got pregnant that same cycle. I was still nursing my 16 month old and had read convincing evidence about B6 helping with hormone regulation

1

u/shimmertaupe Aug 31 '26

I took Geritol liquid

u/Big_Bowl1204 Aug 31 '26

I had a HSG that cycle. The only thing in hindsight that seemed different during my TWW was that I showed up for a doctors appointment on the wrong day. Like a total brain fart or whatever. That was with my first (and so far only) child. If that happened now, it wouldn’t stand out to me because my permanent mom brain has made that the norm lmao.

ETA: I also took a major break from running that cycle. I was normally hitting 3-4 miles per day and was wondering if that was overworking my body for ttc. So I just jogged a little and mainly walked. No idea what, if any, of these things helped or if it was luck.

I feel bleh, and had a vivid dream last night. My nipples feel ouchy for no reason, and my husband says I have a redder skin tone. Normally I’m pale and don’t show blush at all. I think I’m 10 DPO today but I’m not certain I’m new at all of this. I really hope I’m pregnant though, and not just imagining it.

1

u/Curious_YESS957 Sep 02 '26

Vivid dreams were one thing I had when I was pregnant earlier this year (ended in MMC). I didn’t even know that was a symptom of pregnancy. Lately I’ve been having those same vivid dreams again and my boobs should hurt by now but they don’t, they just feel heavy. I think I’m 6DPO rn but I’m going to wait till I miss my period to test for my sanity.

1

u/After_Mouse_699 Sep 03 '26

Omg my boobs feel the same, like not painful but definitely heavier and plumper! But I’ve never had odd feeling nipples. I took a test yesterday and it was negative :( even though I had an even weirder dream last night!

1

u/lesbiehonest Sep 03 '26

Vivid dreams were my first symptom and it took 2 days before I got a positive test.

We only hit O-1 during my fertile window, I didn’t use any lh strips that cycle, and just monitored my body’s signs of ovulation.

1

u/Project-Middle Sep 14 '26

That cycle:

  1. More exercise and eating super clean during TWW.

Also warm everything - food, lots of tea and socks!

  2. Mucinex starting CD10 every 12 hrs (9am & 9pm) stopping after ovulation.

  3. Preseed! Read the instructions- apply in advance!

  4. Husband and I knocked boots every other day starting CD10, then on day oh LH surge and day after.

My shot in the dark advice:
Dental care! Both my husband and I got dental work we had been slacking on done in the months leading up to TTC. There’s soooo much research that poor dental health can lead to overall poor health so if you’ve skipped cleanings or keep putting off getting something checked, don’t wait to go in!

Every month I get premenstrual symptoms and think I must be pregnant!

Today was the day of my missed period, and I was thinking I could not be pregnant because I feel completely normal- it’s because I was not in fact going to start my period!
