Discussion Rip🌸My Angle - Charlie 💔🥺
I lost my 9-year-old dog today due to parvovirus.
The last 12 days have been the hardest I've ever lived through. Every day was spent taking him to the vet, getting fluids, glucose, antibiotics, and hoping that each new day would be the day he finally got better.
He stopped eating, became so weak that he couldn't walk anymore, but he still looked at me every time I sat beside him. He still drank water on his own, and I kept telling myself that meant he was still fighting.
Today he passed black, bloody stool, and a few hours later, he was gone.
I keep replaying everything in my head, wondering if I missed something or if there was anything else I could have done. I don't know if that feeling will ever go away.
He wasn't just a pet. He had been with me for years. He was there through good days and bad days, and now the house feels strangely quiet without him.
I'm literally crying, my tears aren't stopping , for me you are still with us
Rip 💔
Last year I lost my grandmother and now today i lost another family member
I'm shivering rn

Many may judge me for what I'm about to say. But I am pretty clear in my head. And I'm at an age where some opinions have simply stopped mattering.
My dad had a prolonged progressive incurable illness. He worsened slowly, in phases, over 8 years. Until his body couldn't go on any more. And I know, believe it or not, what it's like to say "if it's time, so be it". It'd been my prayer for the last few months. He was suffering bitterly. We gave him every treatment Dr.s recommended. But we knew his condition wasn't reversible. We knew.
People may judge me for comparing my dad with "a mere pet". And I couldn't care less about their opinions. Your pet is family. I think you felt something similar u/Visual-Director-9537.

Share the vaccine name if you have the stickers.
Please do not trust any Indian made vaccine that you get at government hospitals.
Always go for Nobivac by MSD or Zoetis.

Bro, why? I just opened the app and saw the dog photo and a smile instantly pass through my face without reading the caption, and the smiles went off after reading the title, RIP, angel.

I'm sorry for you loss.. I lost my dog last year .. it was a stray dog but it always used to stay near our house .I lost him not due to any health conditions but he crashed into a speeding vehicle.. it was during the time of diwali.. and I was at my native place .. so I couldn't do anything and it killed me so much that I wasn't there .. every now and then when I think of him i can't help but be overcomed by guilt and sadness

How do you cope with this? My dog is 14 years old and if I ever think of him not being with me my body shivers like crazy and I think if someday he dies o would die too because of heartbreak if by any chance I survive something would eventually die within me and I genuinely pray I die with him I cannot come to my house knowing he isn’t there. Idk how long he is gonna live but one thing is sure I'm living my life to the fullest knowing my life is tied to him.
Sorry for your loss.

I used to feel exactly the way you do. Every time I came across a post or video about someone losing their dog, I would scroll away because it terrified me. Sometimes I’d even get up just to check that my girl was okay. I couldn’t imagine a world without her.
Then I lost her this April. I won’t lie to you the first days were some of the hardest of my life. I cried constantly and thought about every what if. But something unexpected happened. Those same posts that used to scare me stopped feeling terrifying and started feeling familiar. Instead of making me panic, they reminded me I wasn’t the only person carrying this kind of grief. I felt understood. I hope your dog has many more happy years with you. Don’t spend today’s joy grieving tomorrow’s possibility. Love him as fully as you already do. And when that day eventually comes, as heartbreaking as it will be, you won’t have to carry it alone. There are so many of us who have loved a dog that deeply and understand exactly what that loss feels like.1

So sorry for your loss man!! I have lost so many puppies because of this damnation, it doesn't even give you time for the diagnosis and the moment you figure it out, it spreads like plague. But how did your senior dog catch the virus ? It usually affects dogs upto 1 year ??!! Again I'm really sorry man 😔

Was he vaccinated against the parvo vaccine? In my case we were fostering a india puppy in our society and once he turned 8 months old, the local municipality picked him up for neutering and gave him the required vaccines. After the procedure we assumed that they might have given the parvo vaccines which they actually do but within a month or two He got infected with it, unfortunately I was out of town when this happened and he died within 2 days 😢

No he wasn't vaccinated with parvo , only rabies

u/pjguts Jul 11 '26
Unfortunate 😕 please get them vaccinated in the future with full course. You can use 9in1 vaccine and it's booster doses if budget is the issue.

I lost my Puggie in Oct, I know I was just barely surviving. Later in December rescued Mukku nobody adopted her so I adopted her, she is living her best life at my home, my heart is crying while typing this. But this pain of saying goodbyes never goes away, take one day at a time, OP
Please take care. Feel free to talk to me; I know what you have been going through right now. Rest in peace and love, lil angel. She has crossed thr rainbow bridge now and is running happily and freely. Don't be sad my friend. Lil angel will always be with you. ❤️🩹🫂🕊️

I am so sorry for your loss. Pets leave such a big impression on our life, they heal us in ways no one imagines. 3 years ago I also lost a dog I used to take care of. I can totally relate. Time is the best healer, allow yourself to feel everything . He is an angel now and he will always be present with you

I lost my lil angel this April too. And I felt everything you felt, each thought about how I could have done differently to save her. Seeing her that way broke me in ways I never experienced, she couldn’t walk anymore, couldn’t eat, and she fought hard but I looked her and said ‘if it was her time to go, it’s okay, she didn’t need to fight anymore’ and I was the one to check for her breathing to find out if she was gone. And I will never recover from the pain to find out that she was gone, her lil heart stopped beating forever. I’m so sorry for your loss, but thanks for being with your dog in those final moments, it meant probably everything to him. Take care please.
