Un-Flaired New Banner & Subreddit Icon

Liquid Glass got a lovely update with iOS 27 & macOS Golden Gate.

Took the time to update the icon with the new Icon Composer 2.0... and decided 5 years was long enough with our old banner, especially with the iOS 15 references.

Really thrilled with how the banner turned out!

Edit: I've found the time and updated the icon to just the Apple Home Icon on dark.

Question/Help 2 to 3 minute delay on "Someone was seen" notification from doorbell

I'm getting "Someone was seen" notification 2 to 3 minutes after my Logitech CircleView doorbell camera catches me or my girlfriend stepping onto the front porch or out the front door. I do not have facial recognition enabled, so I'm not getting an immediate notification for person detected.

If we ring the doorbell, we get an immediate notification that the doorbell was triggered, but the "Someone was seen" notification only comes 2 to 3 minutes later.

Everything was working correctly with nearly immediate person detected notifications before I upgraded our Apple TV 4K and my iPhone and Apple Watch to version 27 last week.

I found a post from 3 weeks ago on this sub from someone who has an Aquara camera and has facial recognition enabled. They stated that they receive the notification that a recognized face was detected nearly immediately, but that 2 minutes later, they are receiving the "Someone was seen" notification.

Anyone know of a fix for this issue?

Question/Help Does anyone make a floodlight camera that works with HomeKit?

I currently have the hardwired Ring floodlight cameras over my driveways. I really like the dual floodlights because they really light up the area when someone pulls in. And it also helps if I’m doing something outside at night. But I would prefer the cameras to work with HomeKit. I checked out the Aqara site and it doesn’t look like they offer anything with dual floodlights lights. Is there anyone else out there that offers something similar?

Discussion Hearth 1.6: iPhone portrait mode and Duo support

Disclaimer: this post is brand-affiliated, and I am the developer of Hearth for HomeKit. All content are created by human so please go easy on me Slop Polices😂

This update does not bring many new features but it took me long enough.

Most of the work is focused on adapting the original iPad layout to portrait iPhone and iPhone Duo. iPhone Duo did bring a lot of variety to layout complexity, with the custom layout of Hearth, it became slightly harder. Glad I made it through.

The meaning of this is not to encourage you to use the fancy iPhone Duos you are about to purchase as a long standing HomeKit controller, but more as a self-inspection on the layout adaptiveness and stability. With the flexibility, you can use Hearth as a floating window, or side by side with other dashboard apps on iPads.

Many thanks to all of you who provided feedback on Hearth! You are the reason I made it so far. While Apple’s Home Dashboard is around the corner I also have a lot of new features coming up. I’m actively working on it and glad to hear your thoughts. New users get a one-month free trial for all pro features.

Discussion Help me understand automation shortcuts.

I wanted to setup an automation so when an occupancy changed, it would log to a note. I figured I could do this with an automation shortcut but I just learned that the automation shortcuts are completely limited. What are some of the things you do with them? Like why is 'Find App Store Apps' an option but nothing that would actually do some sort of output like notes or music.

I understand automations, I have several time based open my shades, shut off my lights setup. I also really understand Shortcuts thru the Shortcuts app. I'm just completely baffled what good the Automations 'Convert To Shortcut' is good for.

Question/Help Apple Home no longer working on Wifi, but works for my wife. Help needed?

Post image
12 Upvotes

For some reason, in the last few days, my Apple Home is no longer working when I am connected to my Wi-Fi. However, it will work fine for my wife, who has the exact same iPhone model as me. The only difference is I am on ios27, whereas she has not yet updated.

I am the main owner of the accessories. The HomePods and Apple TV are assigned to my email, and all are connected to the same single Wi-Fi connection. Nothing has changed with my Wi-Fi settings. Nothing has changed with my phone settings either. Just, one day, it’s decided to stop working for me.

On cellular data I am able to connect, just not via Wi-Fi. I can still talk to my homepods with Siri, but on my iPhone I cannot access Siri to turn accessories off.

I’ve run out of options now, but tomorrow I’ll try connect to someone else’s wifi to see if I can access.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix it?

Question/Help Home Hub Not Responding (After Months of Smooth Sailing)

We use our Apple TV as a home hub and it's been functioning this way for months. Our matters devices (blinds, outlets, lights, etc) connect to it.

It's been power cycled, restart via the settings, and it's still connected to our wifi network.

On the apple home app I can still control our devices (open and close blinds, turn lights and outlets on and off)

However at the top it says that the Home Hub is Not Responding and all my automations have broken. I also can't change automations since it says it won't connect to the hub.

Does anyone have recommendations for me that don't require rebuilding the whole thing?

Question/Help Failing automation with Sonos speaker

Posted jn Sonos subreddit as well

I have my Sonos speakers registered as devices in Homekit. I have had a Homekit automation running for the past few years that stopped working in the past few weeks. When i say "Hey Siri, Sleepy time for Tony", the automation is configured to start playing white noise through ambient sounds on the speaker next to my bed. These are the same ambient sounds that you can play on your iPhone through accessibility settings, so I don't believe this is related to not being subscribe to Apple Music.

when i try to run the automation today, the rest of the automation runs (lights turn off, blinds close) but Siri says "the media is not available" and the automation indicates that it failed. the media is available as i can play it on my phone, just seems like Sonos is no longer able to access ambient sounds?

Does anyone else have similar automations like this that trigger music through Sonos? Anyone else having issues?

Would love to post some screenshots but apparently you can’t attach in this subreddit?

Question/Help Hue Button No Longer Working

Thumbnail

Hey all,

Hoping someone can help me diagnose this issue. I have a hue button that I configured with Apple HomeKit to turn on / off several plugs at once. The button suddenly stopped working the other day. I removed and re-added it, reconfigured it, and still no luck.

I can see that the button presses are being registered on both the hue app and the apple home app, but Apple home refuses to run the associated shortcut. Running the shortcut by itself works perfectly.

Wondering if this is because of some update or something? This was running totally fine until just yesterday, I believe.

Question/Help Meross temp controller plug

Post image
29 Upvotes

Hi r/homekit! I am trying smarten up my room, especially before the rough Canadian winters.

I have been looking into smart space heaters for myself, but none have tickled my fancy. I came across this meross smart temp controller, and as someone who is extremely into UI/UX and cares a lot about stuff like that, I would like to know how this actually shows up in the Home app!

Another quick question I had, was does this actually control the temperature of a dumb space heater no matter the brand? i have been looking into this amazon basics space heater and it would work extremely well with the space i am situated with right now!

Thanks!

Discussion First look at Schneider’s smart thermostat and room sensor, possibly co-developed with Apple

Official product documents provide details about Schneider’s Smart Thermostat and Smart Thermostat Room Sensor.

These products may have been co-developed with Apple, although that has not been officially confirmed.

The thermostat has a 2.85-inch color display, built-in temperature and humidity sensors, occupancy monitoring, and a proximity function for the display and start screen. It supports heating, cooling, air circulation, and emergency heat. The data sheet lists Matter 1.6, Thread 1.4, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.4, with touch controls for temperature adjustment and Schneider Home app support.

The room sensor measures temperature and humidity and uses a replaceable CR2450 battery, with a listed battery life of three years. It measures 45 × 45 × 17 mm and can be mounted with adhesive tape or screws. Its data sheet lists Matter 1.5, Thread 1.4, and Bluetooth 6.1. A status LED indicates normal operation, commissioning, and faults.

The specifications above come from Schneider’s official documents and may change before release.

Question/Help Apple Home weather automations fail when using Home location

I’m having an issue with weather-based automations in Apple Home. I also updated to 27.2 beta and same issue.

When using Get Weather at Home in a HomeKit shortcut automation, the entire automation fails to run.

However, if I manually enter my full address instead of selecting Home, everything works perfectly, including automatic triggers.

I’ve checked and corrected my Home address through Apple Maps and Contacts, but it hasn’t resolved the issue.

My main Home hub is an Apple TV 4K.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a known bug with HomeKit’s location handling?

Question/Help Home Not Triggering All Hue Devices?

I recently added a bunch of Hue Bulbs and Hue smart plugs, all via the Hue Bridge Pro and then connected to Home through the hub.

Most, but not all, of my Hue devices will turn on at sunset as I have the automation set up in Home. A random handful will not turn on. I can manually turn them on in the Hue app, however.

Is this a Home or Hue issue?

Question/Help Smart Notifications not working on my iPhone Air, iPad Pro M5

Smart Notifications does not work on my iPhone Air, iPad Pro M5 or even my M4 Max Macbook Pro. I have an Apple TV 4K which is the main hub, so not using the iPad Pro.

Regardless, when troubleshooting this, there is no Apple Intelligence in Home Settings in the Home App. Also, I've checked the Siri language is the same as the Region Language, which is English (Australia).

Anyhow, appreciate any info, pointers or even steps to resolve this.

Cheers!
P.S. Oh and yes, I have iCloud+ with 2TB and I'm the primary owner. In fact, this is from the Apple One bundle subscription.

Question/Help HomeKit thinks the blinds are open, when they are closed. And visa versa.

I have Leviosa matter blinds, which work great.

But HomeKit thinks they are open when they are actually closed. And vice versa.

Is there a way to get HomeKit to sync up with their actual state?

Discussion I'll Never Miss My Baby's Cries

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Our baby girl was born six months ago, and like any new parents, we want to make sure she's safe and sound around the clock. So we got an Aqara G350 to keep an eye on her.

At first, I thought I'd have to keep opening the Apple Home app and checking the live feed to see how she was doing. Then I came across a post on the forum mentioning that the G350 has a baby cry detection feature. It can send a notification to my phone whenever our baby starts crying, so I gave it a try, and it worked perfectly!

But then I realized my phone isn't always within reach, so I started wondering if there was a better way to get notified. I enabled baby-cry detection in the Aqara Home app, so its alerts can reach my Apple Watch. For the HomePod, I set up an Aqara automation that syncs a scene to Apple Home, then created a Home automation to play an alert sound when that scene is triggered. It took a few extra steps, but now I can hear an alert at home too.

At first, I just wanted a camera to keep an eye on our little one, but I never imagined I could do so much more with it through Apple Home. Now I can get alerts even when I'm not looking at my phone. It's such a small discovery, but it makes life as a new parent a little easier.

Are there any other useful features or automation I might have missed?

Discussion Using intercom with New Siri. What’s the deal and why is it a two step process now if it even works at all? Do I have to change what I’m saying (Siri, intercom, message- response: Sorry can you give me the message on its own?)???

Title. Am I missing something here? Is there a faster way? I usually use this for a quick messages but now I have to argue with a robot to ask for diapers or something.
