Official How to Submit Tickets and Log Issues

Hi everyone!

We know that having lighting issues or checking on an order can be frustrating, and we want to make sure you get the help you need as quickly as possible.

While we try to monitor the subreddit, the best and fastest way to get a resolution is through our official support channels. Here is the exact procedure to ensure your issue is logged and tracked properly.

1. Create a Ticket (The Official Way)
Creating a ticket ensures your issue is tracked by our team and not lost in the Reddit feed.

Option A: Via the Nanoleaf App (Suggested)

  • Go to More > Customer Support > Submit Support Ticket
  • Description: Try to be as detailed as possible to reduce back-and-forth.
  • Attachment: Add photos or images to demonstrate the issue.

Option B: Via the Support Site
A few things to be noted:

  • Cloud or Nanoleaf Shop Email Address: Use the email associated with your Nanoleaf account/order. You can find this in the app:
    • Android: More > Account
    • iOS: More > [Username]
  • Photos or Videos: Include these if applicable, strongly suggested for technical issues.

2. DM TomT_Nanoleaf_
If your ticket is not responded to in time, or you want to get help from Tom, feel free to send him a Direct Message (DM) here on Reddit.

Why?
Submitting the ticket creates the official record, but sending Tom a DM allows him to escalate for proper attention and see if he can also help directly.

What to include in your DM:

  • Ticket Number or Email Address: (If you've submitted a ticket)
  • Brief Summary: (One or two sentences about the issue)
  • Order Number: (If this is an order issue)

Important Notes
Privacy: Never post your full order number, address, device information, or personal info publicly. Always use DMs or emails for sensitive information.

Patience: Our support team is small but mighty! We aim to respond as quickly as possible, but volume can be high during sales or product launches.

3. Utilize our Weekly Megathread

We have created a weekly megathread to centralize our users' technical issues. We encourage you to utilize that resource going forward as it will be monitored often.

Help & Questions Shapes and Google home automation help

Hi

I use Google Home to make my Nanoleaf shapes come on at sunset - a specific theme. At midnight, the Nanoleaf app changes the theme to a low brightness chilled theme, and then it goes off at 1am.

When it gets to sunset again, Google home turns them on, but the shapes play the nighttime theme, because that was the last theme playing when they turned off.

I cannot figure out how to get Google home to turn on the specific theme at sunset every day.

It must be something easy that I am missing. Hopefully, someone can help me.

Thanks.

Help & Questions Is it possible to address individual lights?

I installed the permanent outdoor lights this past weekend. They are working well so far. I need to address individual lights/pucks. Before purchasing, I saw this video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/LNWeH38bK-Y The video seemed to indicate it was built into the app now. This a big (huge) reason why I bought these lights. How do I get to that functionality? I can't seem to setup a scene where each individual light is addressed.

I've subsequently done some searches and I'm starting to get worried that that functionality was actually removed or doesn't exist. Again, this as a huge reason for me purchasing these.

Nanoleaf Reply Nanoleaf 4D v2 stopped working while updating. Now won’t turn on

I just received a 4D v2 for my birthday. After attaching the lighting strip to my tv and making all the connections, it powered on for a few minutes. It wasn’t reading what’s on the screen tho.

I download the iOS app and it said it needed a critical update. Now the update was in progress and suddenly it turned off and now won’t turn back on.

This is a brand new device and my first time using this, how can I get this fixed/replaced ?

Hi I’ve been trying to troubleshoot this for hours now but none works

my app says that it is connected to the threads and is checked in the sync+ but it is not syncing
This started happening after I updated the firmware to 5.1.45

is anyone also experiencing this issue and if so, have you fixed it?

Nanoleaf Reply Nanoleaf and Secretlab MAGRGB

Hi All, new to Nanoleaf. I'm getting a Secretlabs desk that comes with a MAGRGB strip powered by Nanoleaf, so I'm considering adding some additional lighting to my home office space as well such as a strip light under a floating shelf on the wall, the main ceiling light bulb and a table lamp bulb.

Any advice for a nanoleaf first timer, things you would have wished you'd known, recommendations or things to avoid?

Also I'm curious about integrations with other systems in the home. We've got an Amazon Echo Show which uses Alexa for example.

Nanoleaf Reply Firmware 5.1.45 available for Essentials Matter over Thread – anyone have release notes?

Post image
26 Upvotes

Just noticed firmware 5.1.45 is out for Nanoleaf Essentials Matter over Thread devices. All my NL65 picked it up in Home Assistant (Matter integration) and are currently updating.

I couldn't find any release notes anywhere. A few questions for those who have updated:

- Has anyone seen an official changelog?
- Is it showing up in the Nanoleaf app too, or only through Matter controllers?
- Any noticeable changes or issues after updating?

Will report back once mine are done.

Nanoleaf Reply I’m SO DONE with Nanoleaf. Every update makes these products worse.

I am so unbelievably fed up with Nanoleaf and their consistently broken products. At this point, I’m genuinely questioning why I continue investing money in this ecosystem.

Nothing ever seems to work reliably. Devices randomly disconnect, require constant restarting, fail to respond, or decide to play completely different scenes than the ones selected. And somehow, every software or firmware update manages to make the experience WORSE instead of fixing anything.

The latest update has been the final straw.
Every single one of my scenes is now unavailable across all of my Nanoleaf devices. When I attempt to transfer them, the app tells me, “Sorry, your device isn’t available at this time.”

Seriously? The same devices that are ONLINE and responding perfectly fine in Apple Home? Yet somehow, Nanoleaf’s own app can’t communicate with its own products? Every attempt to send a scene fails.

And don’t even get me started on their customer support. Every time I’ve reached out to Nanoleaf, I’m met with what feels like the same generic, AI-generated, copy-and-paste troubleshooting responses that accomplish absolutely nothing.

There’s seemingly no meaningful effort to investigate the actual problems, just endless canned responses and the same troubleshooting steps we’ve already tried a dozen times.
I’m tired of troubleshooting products that should JUST WORK.

These aren’t cheap products. I’ve spent a considerable amount of money building out my Nanoleaf setup, and instead of enjoying it, I feel like I’ve taken on a second job as an unpaid beta tester.
Smart lighting is supposed to make your home more convenient, not require a troubleshooting session every time you want to change the damn lights.

I genuinely love the concept and aesthetics of Nanoleaf products. That’s what makes this so frustrating. The hardware looks fantastic, but the software experience is an absolute dumpster fire.
Nanoleaf, stop pushing updates that break existing functionality and start prioritizing reliability, stability, and actual customer support.

I’m beyond tired of hearing about new features and products when the ones we’ve already paid for can’t reliably perform their most basic functions.

Is anyone else at this point with Nanoleaf? Because I’m seriously considering abandoning the ecosystem entirely.

Enough is enough.

Are these bulbs and the app getting worse?

I have 3 BR30 Matter bulbs and an A19 Matter bulb. When trying to get them to play a specific scene, the will randomly stop playing the scene after some time and go back to a normal color.

Has anyone experienced this?

Nanoleaf Reply What happened to the app?

Using the iOS app, and admittedly don’t use it often, but now it’s impossible to even find scenes to try out on different devices. Half the app is just selling me stuff, and the other half is things I already made. I have to reverse and re-traverse like 6 clicks away just to try out the (now VERY LIMITED) scenes. Talk about enshittification..

Nanoleaf Reply Nanoleaf Shapes, Google home integration broken

Hi folks, I have both a Nanoleaf Canvas and a Nanoleaf Shapes. For whatever reason, despite both being perfectly controllable from the Nanoleaf app, and cloud synced to my account, Google home is not able to see the shapes.

I have tried hard resetting, network reset, plugged in more times than I can count. Nothing will allow these to connect.

Any solutions for this?

Nanoleaf Reply Control Panel Dead?

Post image

Couldn't tell you what model this is. I've had it a few years.

Today when I tried to turn it on, the control panel doesn't respond and is shown as offline in the app.

I've tried reseating the connector as well and unplugging the AC adapter for a few minutes, but nothing has changed.

Is the panel dead?

Nanoleaf Reply A19 won’t show up after power cycle

Am I doing something wrong here, I’ve had an A19 19B bulb for a while now. When I get it setup on thread everything works just fine, I can see it in HomeKit and it works. I’ve had a few occasions where the bulb has completely lost power not just me turning it off (electrical) work. Every time it loses power competently I have to fully reset the device and setup as new which is a complete pain and made me not want to use these devices anymore. I’m trying to fully move to thread but my WiFi bulbs are able to recover from a power outage but not my Nanoleaf bulb. I have plenty of Thread BRs around even one and the same room as the device. I’ve left it powered on for 1+ hour after the power outage thinking the thread network had to rebuild but nothing. Nanoleaf app doesn’t see it, nor does HomeKit.

Hardware version is 4.08
Firmware is 4.1.3

Model NL67

Am I doing something wrong here or are these just that picky?

Nanoleaf Reply Nano Leaf Aurora home integration issues

Hello,

Long time nanoleaf owner, first time poster. I've had the original nanoleaf aurora panels nearly since launch. They've been part of my smartphone setup for quite some time. I moved a couple years ago and never set them up in the new house, and finally got around to setting them up.

I have been struggling for two days to get them integrated into my smartphone set up with Alexa.

Initially I could not get Alexa to even find my panels but after removing, hard resetting, soft resetting syncing and u syncing the cloud probably 100 times Alexa can now see the panels. They are however unresponsive. I have done the above steps more times than I can count, and have even deleted my account and made a new one.

Nothing can get these panels to respond to Alexa, Google home, or IFTTT. Everything else in my smartphone works just fine, and I even edited some suggested settings in my router to no avail.

They are on my 2.4ghz IoT network that even has a different SSID from the main network. (I even tried directly adding them to the main network on the 2.4ghz band as well)

Additionally I have two controllers because I bought two panel sets. Both controllers experience the same issues.

Anyone have any idea of what I can try, I feel like I've done everything possible.

Update: They mysteriously started working with zero issues, and no intervention on my part (or nanoleafs, I don't think as I've not even had a response to my ticket).

Nanoleaf Reply Matter Over Thread

Is it just me or has Nanoleaf basically given up on Thread? They seem to have discontinued most of their thread hardware in favor of WiFi. I bought a lot of the Essentials line back in the day because they were affordable thread accessories. Plus the shapes wall lights were thread border routers.

Resolved Anyone else having a problem after the 3.0.0 update

I've been trying to run orchestrate but I keep running into a bug that says "an unexpected error occurred. please submit a bug report." I have followed all the troubleshooting steps with no success and I even uninstalled nanoleaf and reinstalled it but unfortunately still running into that error. Anyone else having this problem. I just paid for the premium as well to see if that was the problem but still, nothing changed.
