MAKAI LEMON NEEDS THE FUCKING BALL ALREADY
We can talk about the QB, the HC, or the GM all you want. THAT IS NOT WHY I'M MAD RIGHT NOW. THROW THE DAMN BALL TO LEMON MORE. WHOEVER DOES THAT MAKES ME HAPPY
We gave up immense draft capital to get this kid. He was supposed to be the eventual replacement for AJ Brown, allowing Smitty to become Batman and fully take over as WR1.
Instead, we're treating him like he's some random depth piece. We throw him screens or just flat-out refuse to get him involved. We invested a first-round pick in a receiver with SUPERSTAR potential, and we're barely using him!
I don't care if you think he's ready or not. You know when young players develop the fastest? IN ACTUAL FOOTBALL GAMES WITH THE BALL.
Our run game is DEAD. It's genuinely some of the worst rushing football I've ever watched without Barkley and competent blocking. I think those issues can eventually be fixed, but that isn't who we are right now.
I know Wicks came back. I know we like him, and I know he can make big plays. That's fine. But I find it absolutely UNACCEPTABLE that a first-round receiver with superstar upside isn't even getting 12 targets when our WR1 is out.
THROW THE DAMN FOOTBALL.
If we're going to lose games while developing our younger players, then LET'S ACTUALLY DEVELOP THEM. I can live with losing if we're learning something and getting our future stars meaningful opportunities.
What I cannot accept is making an INSANE draft investment and then seemingly refusing to use it.
And forget the target numbers for a second. Why does Lemon constantly seem like the last read outside of designed screens? Why aren't we even LOOKING his way?
I'm not asking Jalen to force-feed him 20 targets every game. I'm asking him and Nick to make Lemon an actual priority in the offense. Make him the second read sometimes. Give his routes time to develop. Give the kid opportunities to make plays downfield.
YOU SPENT A FIRST-ROUND PICK ON HIM. START TREATING HIM LIKE ONE.
