Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Trouble deciding on unlimited 2% cash back card

I’ve been wanting to get a 2% credit card to use for the long run for a while, I was pretty set on getting the SoFi 2% card but then I saw they’re charging some people a monthly fee and I don’t want to deal with that. Cutting to the chase I’m currently having a hard time deciding between the Citi Double Cash and the Wells Fargo Active Rewards. I trust the longevity, safety, and reliability of the Citi card a whole lot more than I trust Wells Fargo (mainly from that whole Wells Fargo fraud thing a while back), but the Wells Fargo card is visa and I don’t have a Visa card yet. So I guess I’m just asking if people think Wells Fargo will screw the card at any point in the future, or if there’s some better 2% card that I’m missing

Help Needed / Question Is Rakuten releasing a Naruto design for their card?

I don’t know if I’m crazy but when opening the Rakuten app today I saw for a split second that they said something about a Naruto design for the Rakuten card.

Probably not very noteworthy as I haven’t seen anything posted on Reddit about it but I’m curious as I was looking for it on the app but can’t seem to find any more info about it.

Help Needed / Question Special offer to upgrade Chase Sapphire Preferred to Chase Sapphire Reserve

I got a targeted offer to upgrade my CSP to a CSR and spend $4000 in by mid-December to earn 75k points.

The appeal:

  • It doesn't cost me a 5/24 slot.
  • I've already gotten the bonus for the legacy CSR before so I wouldn't have ever been able to get the bonus from the CSR post-refresh (because of the newly introduced lifetime language).

The downside:

  • Not a particularly great offered compared to new cardholder bonus offers (but this is not as big of a deal to me because of the upsides listed above).
  • I have about 120k in points that maintain the 1.25x redemption rate through the Chase portal through the legacy conditions that took place before the Chase Sapphire product refreshes. I assume that if I upgrade that I would forfeit the 1.25x redemption rate if I chose to upgrade.

What would you do in my scenario? I think the main deciding factor is if the 1.25x redemption rate value of those 120k points is worth as much as it seems like at face value.

And maybe the big question is, "do people find good deals on flights/hotels in the Chase travel portal?" Or are the prices so inflated that the value of the 1.25x is significantly nerfed and doesn't actually provide the value expected?

Discussion / Conversation Be careful if you are considering Aven

I thought I was doing a pre approval, it even said it would show my offer than I would need to do a hard pull. I was just curious didn’t really want the card and it ended just straight applying and approving me for the card. It’s the 6% grocery and 2% everything card. It’s my fault and I’m an idiot but still annoyed

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Capital One Savor vs Samsung Galaxy Card

Hello all,

I am preapproved for both the Capital One Savor and the Samsung Galaxy credit card. I was looking for something to get 3% back on groceries. I was initially just going to do the Savor but the 3% on anywhere that does tap to pay seems enticing. Does anyone have any experience with these cards or any recommendations?

Edit: I also have the Venture X.

FICO Score: 792

Oldest account age: 7 years, 2 months

Income: ~$100,000

Average monthly spend and categories:

  • ~$1800 (not including rent)

  • Utilities/Rent: $250/$1450

  • groceries: $250

  • Dining: $350

  • gas: $200

What's the purpose of your next card? Cashback on everyday purchases:

Groceries, dining, entertainment, gas

Do you have any cards you've been looking at? Amex Gold and Capital one savor

Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? Ok with category, just can't be a monthly rotating cashback card.

Some maybe relevant notes:

  • I go to a lot of DJ shows where 75% of the time they'll play at a smaller venue/club so I'm unsure if they qualify for any entertainment cash backs.

  • I don't travel much maybe once or twice a year

  • Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? category spending is okay

I am AU on partner's CFU Sept 2023 $9200 which covers dining @ 3%.

Help Needed / Question Silly Q - US Bank Credit Line Increase

I unfroze my trans union credit score for US bank Connect card (required for CLI) and was told it would take 7 to 10 business days to receive a decision via mail! Because they operate so differently from other credit cards I was not sure if I could just freeze my credit back or if they needed it open to review still? Does anybody know?

Data Point I'm shook, never thought I'd be here. Just got approved for CSP and Barclays Jet Blue

36 years old, always been irresponsible with credit cards. My score hovered between 575-615 for as long as I've had a credit score, at least up until today. Have multiple 120+ days late on my Capital One cards, which have all been charged off at this point. Two within the last 1.5 years.

Decided enough was enough, and applied for a Discover secured card 8 months ago with a $200 limit. Payed it off religiously.

Today, I decided to apply for some other cards. My scores, according to Experian, are: 617 EX; 644 EQ; 630 TU. Likely helps that I have basically zero debt, and expected income of $103K this year.

Today, I was approved for the Barclays Jet Blue ($4K limit) and Chase Sapphire Preferred ($5K limit).

I'm so happy I could cry. Never thought I would make it to this moment. It's just so validating and relieving. Proof that I can be responsible with my finances despite my past irresponsible decisions. I'm stoked!

That said - job's not finished. The path continues.

Help Needed / Question Credit card recommendation Canada (student and decent credit)

I am a 30 year old with a bad history of not managing my finances well in earlier years. I had a great income and would have been eligible for good point credit cards but never knew anything about points and building credit so ruined it instead. I am now currently back in school finishing my degree but not working. My husband is not from Canada so I can’t use our household income to be eligible for a good credit card but we spend almost $3000 a month and I think it’s a waste if I’m not using that to atleast get some points build for a vacation at some point until I can get a good credit card with better benefits. We travel atleast once a year from Scandinavia to Canada and that ends up being another $3500 at the very least in just flight costs that we put on debit cards instead of credit. I want to get a credit card that is the best or even 2 because with my credit score I believe I should be eligible for student credit cards atleast right now. My score is at 630 last I checked. I’ve been trying to be better these last few years.

Good customer service

Easy to navigate card benefits enrollment

If anyone has either of the cards mentioned above, which one should I choose & why?

Discussion / Conversation BMW Credit Card - Terrible Update to Reward Redemption

U.S. Bank and BMW Financial Services launched a redesigned BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad Mastercard lineup on October 13, 2026, shifting focus heavily toward automotive rewards and dealership redemptions rather than general travel redemptions....

Prior to today, existing customers had the option to redeem reward points through 3rd party sites for travel... hotels + flights.... But now, that option is discontinued, spun as a way to "increase point value" when you use BMW channels.

"Under the new system, points can be worth twice as much when applied toward eligible dealership purchases and BMW Financial Services loan or lease payments."

Existing customers should maintain the option to redeem points for travel!!! Sooooo annoyed.

Help Needed / Question I ruined my Credit at 18 now I’m trying to fix it at 22

When I was 18 I got approved for a credit card with a $1000 limit. Long story short the card ended up being used in a Manic Episode where I attempted to move from Washington State to Maine during the start of winter and crashed my car in the snow in North Dakota which resulted in me having to return to WA.

When I was able to successfully move out of state a year later I irresponsibly abandoned the bank I had the credit card with without saying a thing to them and ignoring any attempts they or credit collectors made to contact me.

Now I’m 22 back in WA and in a position to fix my credit and pay back the old card, but I’m not exactly sure how once goes about that.

Who do you contact to pay off old credit card debts?

I now have a Card with Capital One so I’ve already covered the base of getting a good credit card with strict limits for building g credit. However through FICO I was able to see that the old Credit Card Debt is still on my account and I would like to pay that off to help my credit score. Just not sure who to contact.

If anyone could toss some advice my way about the next step of paying off old debts, I’d love to get that started.

My credit score is currently 539 if that helps

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used) Looking for a travel card rec please. Grandfathered C1 Duo, Sapphire, or something else?

Looking for opinions please.

Current cards

  • C1 Savor World Elite (grandfathered 4% dining): $17.5k limit, $95 AF, opened 2021 (not considering PC)
  • Amex Platinum, authorized user: $195 AF, added 2023 (previously Gold AU since 2019). Adore the Centurion lounges, 30 visits in last 4 years
  • WF Autograph: $17.5k limit, converted from OG Bilt (opened 2023) in Feb 2026
  • WF Active Cash: $6.5k limit, PC from WF Platinum opened 2012

Profile

  • FICO: ~800
  • Oldest account: 14 years
  • Chase 5/24: 0/24
  • Income: $100k base + 15% bonus + $7.5k dividends/interest
  • Business cards: small side hustle; open to them if eligible

Average monthly spending: ~$1,760, highly variable

  • Dining: $210 (Savor)
  • Groceries: $25 at coded supermarkets + ~$100 Costco/Walmart (Active Cash 2%). Splitting with partner
  • Gas: $20 (work from home, ~5,000 miles/year)
  • Travel: $470 average, but $0–$2,000+ depending on month (flights, hotels, cruises, rental cars, etc.)
  • Insurance: $140
  • Medical: $220 average over past year but likely to drop significantly
  • Other: ~$450 (shopping, entertainment, subscriptions)

Goal: Build transferable points for international travel, ideally including long-haul business class, while getting better value on domestic trips. I spend a fortune to select my airplane seat because I get claustrophpbia/anxiety in the middle. Flexibility is important, bags/boarding priority less so. Interested in maximizing rewards, not optimizing for simplicity; can strategize to improve benefits. Don't want to churn dozens of cards. Will need credit for new lease in a year.

Considering

  • Venture X or Venture: Would either let me convert my existing Savor cashback into transferable miles? Is Venture X worthwhile when I already have Platinum lounge access? I don't think it would be hard to spend a $300 travel credit, but I'm worried the portal is too restrictive (I occasionally use it with price match already).
  • Chase Sapphire Preferred: Is starting a second points ecosystem worthwhile given the overlap with my existing cards?
  • Concerned Discover is too limited
  • Open to other recommendations

Travel Style

  • Domestic: 3–5 trips/year; international: ~1/year
  • Airlines: no loyalty currently; generally book based on price, dislike Frontier
  • Airports: BUR/LAX for foreseeable future; DEN until I move next year
  • Status: currently have Hilton Gold, Marriott Gold, Hertz President's Circle, and National Executive Elite through Amex
  • Other: enjoy occasional luxuries like a Michelin dinner

Upcoming spending: can easily hit $5k in the next few months (exam registration, flights, other bills). Could also charge $2,100/month rent to meet a SUB, but there's a processing fee.

Upcoming travel (not booked yet)

  • Dec 2026: holidays, need $300 flight, staying with family
  • Feb 2027: domestic vacation, need $400 flight and hotels for 4 nights
  • Summer 2027: ~3-5 weeks in Asia (China, Japan, Vietnam); first visit; business class would be great but isn't essential
  • 2028: family trip to Australia

Thoughts?

Thank you!

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used) Just moved in together—looking to add a new card or my partner as an AU

Hi everyone! The title basically says it all. I looked at a few other threads on this, but each had a few specificities to the OP’s situation so I thought I might as well ask :) Neither of us are churners (for now…) or looking for something overly complicated. Down to get a new card, but I’m wondering if the daily drivers I have are plenty for our everyday expenses (groceries, rent, utilities, internet, some streaming, dining out). We like to travel so that would be a bonus for a flight here and there.

Also the changes in the Chase trifecta (and my lack of keeping up on it) leave me confused as to if I should complete it with Freedom Flex or branch out. Not particularly committed to hotel stays either hence not feeling committed to Chase, but the initial CSR SUB was nice :) Trying to use those points before they’re devalued lol. Anyways, maybe just a long way of saying, pretty average expenses for living in an expensive city, hoping to find a card that’s best for the both of us!

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) First time credit card user @ 680

I’m looking into credit cards to soon build my credit in a few months, since I would have at least $500 ready to begin my journey but I don’t know which to start on at 22 years old.

My goals is to build my credit score (currently at 680) and use my credit card as my main spender rather than my checking account (still have it by hand to Zelle/rent, etc) and use cash back. I currently bank with capital one as my main bank for everyday+my hys. Of course, I want to make sure to pay that said balance back before the due date in full+I’m getting the rhythm down for making sure my money goes to each account for specific things.

I’m leaning towards capital one quicksilver as my first card or discover it student chrome!

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used) Card Recommendation / Strategy Request: College Student traveling abroad next year (748 FICO)

CREDIT PROFILE

• Current cards:

• Discover it Student, $2,500 limit, opened October 2025 (has $37 Rewards Cash)

• Chase Freedom Unlimited, $2,200 limit, opened June 2026 (has 26k points)

• Authorized User Card (not sure when I was added or the limit)

• FICO Score 8: 748 (With only 1% utilization)

• Oldest credit card account age: 1 year 0 months

• Annual income: Student budget level

CATEGORIES

• OK with category-specific cards?: Yes.

• OK with rotating category cards?: Yes, currently have Discover it.

• Estimate average monthly spend: Mostly grocery, dining, and campus spending. All of non-category spending goes to Chase Freedom Unlimited.

PURPOSE & NEED

• What's the purpose of your next card?: Travel rewards / Study abroad prep.

• Do you have any cards you've been looking at?: Chase Sapphire Preferred (Pre-approved in portal as well as reserve) and Capital One Venture X.

BACKGROUND

I am currently a Sophomore in college looking to Study abroad in the Spring of my Junior year and I've been thinking of my strategy of the future card I should get for this and my overall credit card journey.

My plan was to grab the Chase Sapphire Preferred, but I'm split between it, the Venture X (If its even possible for me to get approved in the future), and the flood of cards on the market. Or if I should pivot in a completely direction than what I'm thinking of now. I am also weighing my current rewards cash (my Discover is now in Capital One) and points with its ability to transfer to a travel card to save on my flights abroad.

I am also struggling with using my Discover it Card enough as its categories often don't align with what I buy. So most of what I do is with Chase Freedom Unlimited now. Any suggestions?

Any and all help figuring out my credit card journey would be amazing. Thanks.

Discussion / Conversation Need advice from more experienced people.

So I'm currently in the position where i want to expand my credit. I have my first credit card with my local credit union (EECU) they are awesome without a doubt. But I am traveling soon out of country and I only have a credit limit of $500 (USD). I would like to be able to spend more. I have had my credit for 1 year and 1 month along side I'm only 19 years old and in zero debt of any sort. Would love to hear feed back from others on if I should ask for my credit limit to be increased or, just get a new card in general with another bank!

Also for anyone wondering why I am going to be using a credit card out of country its because there are 0 currency fees from me being from the good states in the other country. On another note looking too increase my credit score from 700s range, sadly I haven't been able to escape the low to mid 700s. All advice and information I would greatly appreciate.

Help Needed / Question Wells Fargo Reflect-Supercheck vs Direct Deposit

I have a Wells Fargo CC I’ve had for awhile that’s high right now. I know you can’t balance transfer a Wells Fargo to Wells Fargo. But my Wells Fargo banker I spoke to said I can use the super check to deposit into my checking and then use that when it clears to pay off the older Wells Fargo CC. Is this a true loophole?

Because Ai is telling me no, they have to do it via direct deposit on the computer (direct deposit the new Cc funds to my checking instead of using the checks). Should I trust my banker or Ai? Has anyone done this and it worked? I do not want a high % “cash advance” fee! Also if you cannot balance transfer Wells Fargo to Wells Fargo, wouldn’t they be aware of this loophole?? I’m nervous to make this transfer!
