Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Best travel credit card for NYC to Paris

I'm in a long distance relationship and will be traveling from NYC to Paris at least every other month for the next two years. I'm wondering which travel credit card would benefit me the most here? Right now I only have Chase Freedom, and I use that for cash back/points but not really for travel. Should I go Amex? Chase Sapphire? Not totally sure, I'm new to all of this and trying to do some research, though it's overwhelming. Thank you in advance!

Data Point Got approved for the amex plat 175k sub

Not much more too it than that. Just happy to finally get approved. I already got the Gold sub last year, been trying for Plat for months but couldnt get more than 50k offers.

12k spend, can likely reach it organically. If not, I've been needing a new tv for a while.

Discussion / Conversation How sensitive is BoFA with *recently* opened cards?

I have 8 cards. Income would be around $85,000.

Planning on applying for Freedom Flex by the end of the week, as I’m intrigued by the elevated SUB.
Kicking myself for missing the Discover It SUB this summer, as well as WF Active Cash SUB suddenly dropping from $200 to $100 … so I don’t want to miss this one too.

I want to get the BoFA CCR too, but anticipating a higher sub on Rakuten around Thanksgiving so I’m waiting for that.

Currently 2/24
Cap 1 Savor 11/2024 which should drop off from my reports at the end of November (unless it drops on the exact 2 year anniversary?)
Citi Strata 01/2026

So I might still be 2/24 or even 3/24 after opening the Flex.

I may be getting ahead of myself here because I don’t have any preapproved offers/messages in the Chase app for the Flex, but I have a checking account with them and the other 2 Freedoms so I think I should be fine …

I don’t have any BOFA credit cards, but recently opened a Checking Account this past July. So I do have a relationship with them, just not sure of acceptance stats if I open the Flex within a month before applying for the CCR.

Help Needed / Question I ruined my Credit at 18 now I’m trying to fix it at 22

When I was 18 I got approved for a credit card with a $1000 limit. Long story short the card ended up being used in a Manic Episode where I attempted to move from Washington State to Maine during the start of winter and crashed my car in the snow in North Dakota which resulted in me having to return to WA.

When I was able to successfully move out of state a year later I irresponsibly abandoned the bank I had the credit card with without saying a thing to them and ignoring any attempts they or credit collectors made to contact me.

Now I’m 22 back in WA and in a position to fix my credit and pay back the old card, but I’m not exactly sure how once goes about that.

Who do you contact to pay off old credit card debts?

I now have a Card with Capital One so I’ve already covered the base of getting a good credit card with strict limits for building g credit. However through FICO I was able to see that the old Credit Card Debt is still on my account and I would like to pay that off to help my credit score. Just not sure who to contact.

If anyone could toss some advice my way about the next step of paying off old debts, I’d love to get that started.

My credit score is currently 539 if that helps

Discussion / Conversation Chase travel - hotel can’t find reservations flight is in 3 days

Made a reservation for an all inclusive(finest punta cana ) to DR , called hotel they can’t help me due to buying reservation through 3rd party. Called chase they contacted hotel could not get an answer.chase then follows up with Expedia and they also cannot get an answer so they are sending a email to the hotel to confirm booking.

I thought this process was supposed to be easy for credit card holders now I have to think about risking it getting on my flight with my family and HOPE my reservation is in the hotels system or reschedule everything.

Discussion / Conversation BMW Credit Card - Terrible Update to Reward Redemption

U.S. Bank and BMW Financial Services launched a redesigned BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad Mastercard lineup on October 13, 2026, shifting focus heavily toward automotive rewards and dealership redemptions rather than general travel redemptions....

Prior to today, existing customers had the option to redeem reward points through 3rd party sites for travel... hotels + flights.... But now, that option is discontinued, spun as a way to "increase point value" when you use BMW channels.

"Under the new system, points can be worth twice as much when applied toward eligible dealership purchases and BMW Financial Services loan or lease payments."

Existing customers should maintain the option to redeem points for travel!!! Sooooo annoyed.

Data Point Paze Chase + Sephora missing credits success DP

I was missing 3 paze credits from Chase + Sephora. Purchases were made in late July and I called multiple times to get it sorted out. Finally on 9/28 got a rep who escalated the issue. I received a letter in the mail a couple days later saying they were looking into it and that I would hear back within 14 days. Today the credits posted on my account.

Discussion / Conversation 0 Interest Credit Cards in 2026?

My wife's Bank of America card has 0 interest. She's had it for over 10 years and doesn't remember how the process went when she got it. I'm doing research now and finding that 0 interest cards are essentially non existent now? This is disheartening news indeed to me. I've never had one and im trying to change that.

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Best Travel Credit Card to Pair With Hilton Honors Amex?

I currently have the Hilton Honors American Express card and am looking for a second travel credit card to complement it.

My husband and I travel about 5-6 times per year, primarily flying out of Cincinnati (CVG) or Columbus (CMH). I’d love to find a card that gives us access to airport lounges, good travel rewards, and benefits that make sense alongside my Hilton card.

Ideally, I’d like to keep the annual fee under $500 but am open to other options.

Which card would you recommend, and why? I’m considering Capital One Venture X, Chase Sapphire Reserve, and other options. I’m especially interested in lounge access for both me and my husband, guest policies, and whether the benefits justify the annual fee.

For those who have paired another travel card with a Hilton Amex, what has worked best for you?

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Travel Credit Card Recommendation?

Hi I need some help with deciding what credit card to get. I’m mainly getting this credit card to hopefully relief some financial stress on just the flight portion of the cost. Here are some details:

  1. I’m planning on going to Japan in April of 2027

  2. I’m a frequent Japan go-er and I go every year with my family who has paid for my trip all this time but i’m planning on going by myself which is why i’m thinking of how I can fund this trip

  3. Since I’m only interested in going to Japan even in the near to far future, I’m really only looking for a card that’s compatible with airlines/flights that can convert 1:1 with those airlines (Alaskan/Delta/JAL etc)

  4. Preferred to not pay any annual fees since I don’t travel that often enough (maybe twice a year?) to really get my moneys worth from it (open to changing my mind about this depending on the benefits of the card that might be worth it if i’m using it in Japan and the points add up fast enough to fund another trip)

  5. I am mainly looking at cards for their sign up bonus to use towards my next trip. For reference, i’m trying to fly from HNL to anywhere in Japan.

Discussion / Conversation Approved for Amex Plat, but only 125k SUB. Take it?

I’ve been wanting an Amex Plat for a bit. I applied a few weeks ago and they approved me, but gave me no SUB at all. I realized I mis-inputted my income and reapplied, and now they gave me a SUB, but it’s only 125k and not 175k. I know you can only get this SUB once. is this ‘good enough’ to take, or should I hold out and try again later?

Help Needed / Question I’m not sure if this is the place to ask

I just had my cc info stolen and they are locked and cancelled. My question is isn’t there a program that provides a temporary cc number for online purchases that hides your own real numbers? Am I making this up?

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) 19-year-old college student with a 755 credit score. What should my second credit card be?

Hey everyone!

I'm 19 and currently in college. I'm looking to get my second credit card and wanted some advice before applying.

Here's my situation:

  • Age: 19
  • Credit score: 755
  • Current credit card: Discover
  • Credit history: Over 12 months
  • Monthly spending: Around $100–$200
  • Main expenses: Mixed everyday purchases
  • Payment history: Always pay on time

I've been considering the Citi Double Cash, Amex Blue Cash Everyday, and Capital One Quicksilver Student.

Since I don't spend much monthly, I'm mainly looking for a card with good cash back, no annual fee, and decent approval odds. I also want to continue building my credit history.

Would you recommend getting another card now or sticking with Discover for another year?

I'd appreciate any recommendations, especially from people who were in a similar situation!

Help Needed / Question Special offer to upgrade Chase Sapphire Preferred to Chase Sapphire Reserve

I got a targeted offer to upgrade my CSP to a CSR and spend $4000 in by mid-December to earn 75k points.

The appeal:

  • It doesn't cost me a 5/24 slot.
  • I've already gotten the bonus for the legacy CSR before so I wouldn't have ever been able to get the bonus from the CSR post-refresh (because of the newly introduced lifetime language).

The downside:

  • Not a particularly great offered compared to new cardholder bonus offers (but this is not as big of a deal to me because of the upsides listed above).
  • I have about 120k in points that maintain the 1.25x redemption rate through the Chase portal through the legacy conditions that took place before the Chase Sapphire product refreshes. I assume that if I upgrade that I would forfeit the 1.25x redemption rate if I chose to upgrade.

What would you do in my scenario? I think the main deciding factor is if the 1.25x redemption rate value of those 120k points is worth as much as it seems like at face value.

And maybe the big question is, "do people find good deals on flights/hotels in the Chase travel portal?" Or are the prices so inflated that the value of the 1.25x is significantly nerfed and doesn't actually provide the value expected?

Data Point I'm shook, never thought I'd be here. Just got approved for CSP and Barclays Jet Blue

36 years old, always been irresponsible with credit cards. My score hovered between 575-615 for as long as I've had a credit score, at least up until today. Have multiple 120+ days late on my Capital One cards, which have all been charged off at this point. Two within the last 1.5 years.

Decided enough was enough, and applied for a Discover secured card 8 months ago with a $200 limit. Payed it off religiously.

Today, I decided to apply for some other cards. My scores, according to Experian, are: 617 EX; 644 EQ; 630 TU. Likely helps that I have basically zero debt, and expected income of $103K this year.

Today, I was approved for the Barclays Jet Blue ($4K limit) and Chase Sapphire Preferred ($5K limit).

I'm so happy I could cry. Never thought I would make it to this moment. It's just so validating and relieving. Proof that I can be responsible with my finances despite my past irresponsible decisions. I'm stoked!

That said - job's not finished. The path continues.

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Amex Gold vs. Chase Sapphire Preferred

Looking into credit cards as I am buying a house soon & am trying to consolidate my spending for house hold items but also get the most bang for my buck.

Main things I’m looking at are:

Points or cash back on groceries

Points or cash back on gas

Points or cash back on Streaming Services

Good customer service

Easy to navigate card benefits enrollment

If anyone has either of the cards mentioned above, which one should I choose & why?

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Trouble deciding on unlimited 2% cash back card

I’ve been wanting to get a 2% credit card to use for the long run for a while, I was pretty set on getting the SoFi 2% card but then I saw they’re charging some people a monthly fee and I don’t want to deal with that. Cutting to the chase I’m currently having a hard time deciding between the Citi Double Cash and the Wells Fargo Active Rewards. I trust the longevity, safety, and reliability of the Citi card a whole lot more than I trust Wells Fargo (mainly from that whole Wells Fargo fraud thing a while back), but the Wells Fargo card is visa and I don’t have a Visa card yet. So I guess I’m just asking if people think Wells Fargo will screw the card at any point in the future, or if there’s some better 2% card that I’m missing

Help Needed / Question Silly Q - US Bank Credit Line Increase

I unfroze my trans union credit score for US bank Connect card (required for CLI) and was told it would take 7 to 10 business days to receive a decision via mail! Because they operate so differently from other credit cards I was not sure if I could just freeze my credit back or if they needed it open to review still? Does anybody know?

Help Needed / Question Is Rakuten releasing a Naruto design for their card?

I don’t know if I’m crazy but when opening the Rakuten app today I saw for a split second that they said something about a Naruto design for the Rakuten card.

Probably not very noteworthy as I haven’t seen anything posted on Reddit about it but I’m curious as I was looking for it on the app but can’t seem to find any more info about it.
