"Melania Trump was granted a green card in 2001 under the EB-1 visa, often referred to as the "Einstein visa," which is designed for individuals with "extraordinary ability" and "sustained national and international acclaim." This visa allowed her to later sponsor her parents for U.S. citizenship."

Yeah....nothing suspect about that 😒

Her being the bad guy and part of the bad tribe does not justify spreading this misinformation or propaganda for the past decade.
EB-1 is not a "genius" visa, it's a visa for people who fulfill requirements related to reaching a notable level of acclaim, importance or success.
If you don't have a petitioner or one of the highest awards, you need to qualify on 3 out of 10 conditions; And if you know them, it's quite obvious that the legal interpretation of each one can get murky at times, especially in the field of arts.
So Melania is merely a well-known example of the very likely intended subjectivity of that visa.

u/onyx737 3h ago
That actually sounds equally elitist class based privilege.
14
u/DeftlyRolled53 3h ago
Yeah I like knowing more details of the process, but I don't see how that information necessarily contradicts the original premise besides the "genius" part being slightly inaccurate

u/eightbitfit 3h ago edited 3h ago
The "genius" or "einstein" visa is just a very well-known nickname. One must still meet extraordinary requiments - which she obviously did not. For example, the Green Card is not a "green card" it's just a nickname for the Permanent Resident Card, issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) as Form I-551.
"The Einstein visa is a nickname*, not an official visa. Most often it refers to the EB-1A green card for people with extraordinary ability, and sometimes to the O-1 work visa. The name is misleading, because you do not have to be a Nobel-level genius to qualify. The real standard is being among the small percentage at the top of your field, shown either by one major award or by meeting at least three of ten kinds of achievement. Founders, scientists, engineers, artists, and athletes use it. Whether your record qualifies is case-specific, and the name scares off many people who could actually meet the bar.*

You didn't say anything of substance here.
which she obviously did not.
Well, do elaborate how she failed the legal standard for fashion models. That's what matters.

3
u/eightbitfit 2h ago
Fashion model?
We are talking about Melania here, not Cindy Crawford.
If if by some incredible stretch of logic you would include a fashion model in the EB-1A, where was Melaina of the top of that class, even on her best days? She was a cheap escort/hostess who posed for nude photos.

u/bloedit 1h ago

The logic is the law as written.
No one's defending MT here, so no one cares about your personal feelings.
I'm asking what the legal standard is. What magazines qualify, what pages, what locations of billboards, what renumeration, etc.
Even if they tried to paint a rosy picture of her moderate carrier, she still reached a certain level (Sports Illustrated, British GQ, Times Square) and you need a proper reasoning what's enough and what's not.
•
u/eightbitfit 1h ago
Legally you are possibly correct that with the right lawyers and a strong vouching (she was publically dating Trump) she could have got the visa in 2000-2001. I was looking at current standards and certain loopholes were closed in 2010.
Trump was deeply connected with "modeling" executives at the time, including ones who brought her to the US. They could have easily been what got her over the finish line.
Disgusting - but not illegal.
•
u/monocasa 1h ago
So which field in sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics did she reach a notable level of acclaim, importance, or success when she was granted an EB-1 visa?
Particularly given that quite a bit of her modeling would have happened illegally under a travel visa that forbade her working.

She's a genius at dick sucking you see...

u/BrightlyResponding 1h ago
Isn't Melania a Red Sparrow? She's Trumps handler. I'll try to find the link I read. It had to do with the report that MI6 (UK intelligence agency) put out in 2015 when Trump was running the first time. It's how we know his code name was Krasnov.

In some cases it appears to be more an epstein visa than an einstein visa :/
5
u/pixelprophet 3h ago
MC2 (pronounced MC squared) was the modeling agency that Epstein, Brunel, and the mob would use to get trafficked girls into the US with “genius visas”
and...
Nicknamed the "Einstein Visa", the EB-1 is in theory reserved for people who are highly acclaimed in their field - the government cites Pulitzer, Oscar, and Olympic winners as examples - as well as respected academic researchers and multinational executives.
Mrs Trump began applying for the visa in 2000, when she was Melania Knauss, a Slovenian model working in New York and dating Donald Trump. She was approved in 2001, one of just five people from Slovenia to win the coveted visa that year, according to the Post.
and...
While President Donald Trump has dismissed his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, The New York Times reported that Epstein has claimed he introduced Trump to his third wife, Melania.
and ...
According to the 11-page, heavily redacted record, a former Epstein assistant — who worked for him from 2005 to 2006 — told federal authorities that Epstein "introduced MELANIA TRUMP to DONALD TRUMP," in files seen by The Daily Beast.

Trump’s German grandparents lied on their applications by stating they were Swedish.
15
u/Jesus_of_Redditeth 4h ago
This isn't true. How do we know it isn't true? Because back when they immigrated there were no applications. You just showed up and if you weren't literally flowing with disease, you got in.
16
u/AwesomeBrainPowers 3h ago
It's true they lied; you're right that there's no evidence it was on any kind of "application": Trump's racist slumlord father Fred claimed it (fearing xenophobes in America would harass him if they thought his heritage was from an unpopular group); Trump repeated that lie in the 80s while someone else was writing his book for him.
4
u/TheNotoriousSAUER 2h ago
And to play devil's advocate for Fred that's a perfectly acceptable thing to claim at that time. Being from an "unpopular group" at that time meant not getting work or at worst being sent to a camp. Japanese people would claim to be Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, etc. to avoid being sent to Japanese internment camps.
So if you want to be angry at Trump's dead daddy for being racist, go right ahead but I mean this was a man born in 1905 while the British were still building concentration camps in South Africa. I'm more concerned with Trump being literally the embodiment of evil. It feels like we don't have to nitpick here people. He's a convicted rapist and a public pedophile, can't we just hammer that in?
3
u/AwesomeBrainPowers 2h ago
Oh, it's completely understandable: Several different sections of my own family tree did pretty much the same thing.
I just find it...not funny, so maybe just "bleakly ironic"...that Trump's entire political career is based on a very similar kind of hatred that prompted his father and grandfather to lie about their history.
•
u/fairyam4z 11m ago
My comment was meant to highlight the hipocracy of Trump. Nothing else. Of course there are worse things he’s done.
1
u/WackyHumanSlop 2h ago
There were some standards: you had to speak a sentence or two in English and look presentable and clean
•
u/fairyam4z 2m ago
Trump said it himself that his grandparents pretended to Swedish when they first arrived to USA. They refused to even speak German according to him to keep the lie going. I was being dramatic about calling it an application.

25
u/sidepart 5h ago
Her DC home to be specific. I'm not sure if she was there when it happened, or lives there for extended periods of time beyond just using it for her work as a house rep. Which makes it even more questionable why they'd raid that house in particular to find evidence related to the immigration forms her father filled out when she was a child.
Of course I say, "questionable", but what I really mean is that that's all horseshit and it was politically motivated retribution.

Isn’t that that one translator company? I only know of it because this one super insufferable Russian guy who uses it. Was banned from the Automation forums for being an asshat and a racist among other things, but basically his comments were all jumbled nonsense until a few of us realized he was using Yandex translator.

Homeland raided her DC home today on some made up bullshit about immigration issues. It's all just theater ahead of the midterms.
She ain't gonna shy away from these bitches and their fear tactics.

Whoring yourself out to a failed business mogul, real estate swindler, and Russian money-launderer comes with perks. Polish the right mushroom-shaped knob and you too can earn a "Genius Visa" and have your whole family naturalized.

Or she could've campaigned for Kamala Harris to prevent this altogether, but we don't want to talk about that.
(I'm not happy at all that she's going through this. I read Project 2025 and knew things like this were going to happen. That's why I tried to stop it. I only wish Omar had done the same).

u/Ok_Conclusion_6324 6h ago
not the victim blaming of an innocent woman
3
u/WeirdProudAndHungry 6h ago
It's not "victim blaming" if someone is actively complicit in making the outcome happen. The thousands of Black men and women this is happening to around the country who did nothing to cause any of this are innocent. She's in a position of power and chose not to use that power to stop this.
10
u/Ok_Conclusion_6324 6h ago
Actively complicit is insane

u/WeirdProudAndHungry 6h ago
History shows over and over again when fascism is on the ballot, there is only one choice: stop it before it starts. Period.
4
u/Ok_Conclusion_6324 6h ago
You clearly know nothing about Ilhan Omar and this is an unproductive and mean conversation
4
u/WeirdProudAndHungry 5h ago
You clearly know nothing about how fascism works. It doesn't spare anyone, including Omar. There aren't rules for 99.999% of people but a special carve out just for her.
It's not unproductive because hopefully people learn cause and effect. If the effect we want in the future is the opposite of this, we need to act in an opposing casual manner. What's "mean" is when someone has power, knows the history of fascism and yet doesn't advance the most effective means of stopping it knowing what it ALWAYS leads to.

u/Ok_Conclusion_6324 5h ago
I been active in antifascist spaces IRL for over a decade, thanks for the laugh
3
u/WeirdProudAndHungry 5h ago
Which just means you should know better. And nothing you said absolves her of her complicity in this my not actively working against it when she read Project 2025 and knew with 100% certainty that this is where it was going to lead.
3
u/PangaeaDiarrhea 4h ago
I don't know why anyone would overlook the fact that she looked out for herself and campaigned for herself over campaigning for Harris despite her knowledge of what was at stake.
4
u/Gymflutter 4h ago
She literally endorsed Kamala Harris and went on shows to support her candidacy. Yall need to STOP rewriting history!

u/No-Advantage-579 6h ago
I'm kind of "meh" on this one. I mostly like Ilhan Omar as a politician (although I disagree on her Ukraine stance), but yes, that green card marriage was fishy.
Was it fishier than most other Republicans plus some Democrats?
No.
But that is merely an indictment of the political class being above citizens in every way. It just shows how rotten the system is.
3
u/Gymflutter 4h ago
What Green card marriage? The guy they claim to be her brother in this falsehood is a BRITISH citizen. Can yall stop falling for right wing made up stories WITHOUT any evidence? You think Trump would have done nothing about it in his first term if they had anything about her marriage?
