This isn't true. How do we know it isn't true? Because back when they immigrated there were no applications. You just showed up and if you weren't literally flowing with disease, you got in.
And to play devil's advocate for Fred that's a perfectly acceptable thing to claim at that time. Being from an "unpopular group" at that time meant not getting work or at worst being sent to a camp. Japanese people would claim to be Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, etc. to avoid being sent to Japanese internment camps.
So if you want to be angry at Trump's dead daddy for being racist, go right ahead but I mean this was a man born in 1905 while the British were still building concentration camps in South Africa. I'm more concerned with Trump being literally the embodiment of evil. It feels like we don't have to nitpick here people. He's a convicted rapist and a public pedophile, can't we just hammer that in?
Oh, it's completely understandable: Several different sections of my own family tree did pretty much the same thing.
I just find it...not funny, so maybe just "bleakly ironic"...that Trump's entire political career is based on a very similar kind of hatred that prompted his father and grandfather to lie about their history.

Trump’s German grandparents lied on their applications by stating they were Swedish.
