Rules:

Submission Guidelines:

1. Submissions must be primarily news and developments relating to technology.

  • This is a "news" subreddit, do not submit old content. Submissions relating to business and politics must be sufficiently within the context of technology in that they either view the events from a technological standpoint or analyze the repercussions in the technological world.

2. Images, audio or videos

  • Articles with supporting image and video content are allowed; if the text is only there to explain the media, then it is not suitable. A good rule of thumb is to look at the URL; if it's a video hosting site, or mentions video in the URL, it's not suitable.

3. Titles

  • Submissions must use either the articles title and optionally a subtitle, or -- only if neither are accurate -- a suitable quote from the article, which must: adequately describe the content, adequately describe the content's relation to technology, be free of user editorialization or alteration of meaning.

4. Requests for tech support, questions or help

  • Submit to /r/techsupport, /r/AskTechnology, another relevant community.

5. Petitions, Surveys or Crowdfunding

  • Submissions of this nature are not allowed, do not ask for an exemption.

6. Submissions discussing incidents of customer support.

  • Please do not submit discussions about customer support or feedback about products and services.

7. Reddiquette

  • Remember the human You are to abide by reddiquette; it will be enforced when user behavior is no longer deemed to be suitable for a technology forum. Remember; personal attacks, abusive language, blatant disregard of reality and abusive trolling, bad-faith abusive comments, flaming and baiting, and bigotry/hate in any form are not allowed and will be removed; offenders will be banned.

8. Reposts

  • Please do not submit articles that are already covered by submissions currently in r/technology. Please doublecheck reddit.com/r/technology/new to make sure the topic you're submitting is unique.

9. Spam/Self Promotion

  • No Spam or Self Promotion at all. Do not submit anything you are affiliated with. News Organizations must contact us in advance to contribute here. NO AI, NO Automations or Agents, NO LLM comments.

All reddit-wide rules apply here and are actively enforced.

  • Self posts must contribute positively to /r/technology and foster reasonable discussion. Self-post cross-posts are not acceptable. Please message the moderators before attempting to submit a text/self post.

  • Mobile versions of sites, url shorteners: please directly submit the desktop version of a webpage in all cases.

  • Social media links as submissions (eg. Facebook, BlueSky, Instagram, Threads, etc) are forbidden.

  • Submissions discussing the subreddit itself should be submitted to /r/TechnologyTalk, or messaged to the moderators of the subreddit.

Miscellanea

  • If you see a rule-breaking submission, please report it and message the moderators with an explanation. We respond to modmail much faster than to generic inline reports.

  • Want to host an AMA/Q&A? Please message the moderators.

  • All legitimate, answerable modmail inquiries or suggestions will be answered to the best of our abilities within a reasonable period of time. Ban appeals for trolling and being abusive will be ignored.
