Phone suddenly fixed itself?

I've had my phone for the past 7 years. It never worked properly, there was always something broken about it. It never saved pictures I took, didn't remember any app data and randomly crashed games. The good thing is about this, infinite storage! Anyways. As of January of this year, my phone kept randomly putting my volume to max, I had to manually turn it down to the point the volume button on my phone is almost inside of the phone. It took a while for it to connect my wired headphones, and the touch screen barely worked. The touch screen would either not let me drag things, only click, or only let me tap once ever few seconds, making typing hard.

This morning my phone started lagging HARD, so I thought it was best to restart it before going to bed. I woke up to it fully booted up. I logged in and saw a text message of a conformation key to a french website that I've never heard of - mind you, I don't speak fluent French. I don't know who took control of my phone, because they did leave a trace in my browser that they were on said website, but who ever was on my phone, you fixed my issues! I can easily type again and my volume button works again!!

What is the best way to find a 4k TV under $350 in 2026

• Upvotes

I'm in the market for a 4k TV with at least HDR10 support, preferably Dolby Vision as well, for under $350 but would prefer something closer to $200 if possible. I know this is a pretty low budget right now, especially in terms of brightness, but I would like to upgrade some of my setup from an old 1080p TV to 4k. I am making this post so that I can see what the people in this sub will recommend with this budget.

The TV would mainly be used for watching movies, but would also get a lot of gaming use as well with possibly some sports content every know and then.

Amazon, Walmart, and Costco would be my preferred vendors, but if other sellers get recommended, I'll probably check them out. I would prefer to stay away from Facebook Marketplace as well, so please do not recommend me to look there as I already have previously and prefer sticking to the already listed sellers.

I really am not too bothered about the brand or on-board OS, as long as it is not LG, because I am currently using an Apple TV 4k to stream all of my content from a few streaming services as well as my Jellyfin server.

How do you spoof your location? (with or without a vpn)

• Upvotes

A tf2 server i frequent usually tells you where someone joined from (i.e XXX has joined from Russia!)

I wonder if it’s possible to trick it into saying you joined from a funny country (North Korea) or a territory (like Falkland Islands or Norfolk Island). do I need a VPN or can I change something in my computer so it thinks I’m there

Earbud Recommendations

I'm starting a new job as a real estate agent in New York City and looking to invest in a high-quality pair of wireless earbuds. I need to get new earbuds that will allow me to make phone calls while walking the streets without having any noise interference on either end. Ideally, I'd like to hear callers clearly while also minimizing traffic, wind and other city noise on their end. I'll be wearing them for hours throughout the day, so they need to be comfortable. I also listen to music very often while commuting—sound quality is also a priority. I use an iPhone, and my budget is flexible for something reliable and high-quality.

I'm currently considering the AirPods Pro 3 and Sony WF-1000XM6, but I'm open to other recommendations. Which earbuds would you recommend, specifically in terms of microphone quality, comfort and sound quality?

Desktop CD player only burns some songs

Hey all, I have a HP Z 640 desktop with Win 10, ran a diagnostic to update driver's and re-started. I very seldom use the CD but here's the problem: When burning a CD, using Windows Media Player, for my original songs that are in wav format, it will only burn the first 2. The disc is new, the songs play in my DAW and through another app,VLC just fine but can't figure this one out.Other post's have suggested to just buy an external burner and be done with it.Any help with this is greatly appreciated!

Are there any cheap speakers where two of them can connect to the same source of playback, similiar to Sonos?

I would love a Sonos setup but as a single parent I just can't afford it.

But I would love a speaker for each of the kids bedrooms where I can play the same music at the same time. Is there any cheap options?

Doesn't have to be very loud speakers, it's mostly bedtime music. Bonus points if they have some ambient light.

Laptop recommendations

I'm thinking of getting a laptop to run linux almost perfectly as a spare thats no more expensive than maybe €400, just for general practice for anything networks related or cybersecurity i.e like firewalls, TCP/IP all that stuff.

What laptop you think would suit just to have linux but not lacking a lot for specs?

Laptop problem, asking if I should continue using it.

Hello! I have a laptop that doesn't charge anymore and only works(turns on) when it is plugged. Should I stop using it before I get it repaired? I don't really have any replacements for it because I'm a poor college student, thank you for whoever may answer.

What counts as credible testing for consumer exoskeletons?

The usual marketing materials for consumer exoskeletons don't always make it easy to tell how reliable the performance claims really are. Independent testing sounds more useful, but I'm not always sure what actually counts as meaningful third-party recognition. For example, I'd want to know who tested it, whether they tested the product people can actually buy, and whether the results reflect normal use. When comparing consumer exoskeleton brands, what kind of third-party evidence would you actually trust?

Text popped up when pc was shutting down. Curious if there is any way to find out what it said.

As the title states. It was a white pop up box (windows) and stayed for two seconds while the pc was shutting down. It was fairly long at three sentences in length so I couldn’t make out what it said in time. It looked like a file directory but I am not certain. Can I use event viewer or something here to find out if it was just a program I installed or if I am compromised?

Cell Phone Question

Cell Phone Question

My daughter is getting severely bullied, and I wanted her to be able to have a phone while on school bus/at school to let me know whats going on.

I was given a brand new Huawei Phone, but upon factory reset it is I guess you could say locked to someone email? Through Factory Reset Protection via Gmai.

I was trying to give it to my daughter for her birthday tomorrow. It's not an option to get the person who gifted it to unlock via email, or previous phone password.

I guess im wondering if there is a way around this? I know Huawei stopped giving bootlocker codes a few years back.

Is there a way to jailbreak the phone? Its a shame as its brand new.

[Poco F6 / Android 15] Locked out with a Pattern (remember most of it). Any ADB or advanced trick to avoid data loss?

Hi everyone, I’m locked out of my Poco F6 (Android 15 / HyperOS) and I cannot lose my data.

The Issue: It's a Pattern lock, not a PIN. I remember most of the shape/sequence, but can't get the exact one. Fingerprint is locked after 7 attempts.

Status: Phone is online, Google and Xiaomi accounts are fully linked.

My Question:

Since I know most of the pattern, is there any advanced method, ADB command, or tool to bypass the lock or reset the gesture file without wiping the phone?

Please upvote maybe someone else can help

Any technical advice would save my life. Thanks!

Edit I have remembered the pattern finally And advice for everyone if you face this problem You cannot do it yourself to open the phone without losing the Data or you must remember the password Or go to the service center Thank you for the upvote and help ❤️

What kind of sensors are there in fitness bands and what do they measure ?

Asking specifically for fitness bands without screen (fitbit air and whoop type). Also the data that they measure how do they convert it to metrics ? What kind of calculations is done on that data ?

Are the sensors used in these fitness bands custom made by these companies or are these generic ones ?

Any open source repo available for the post processing of the data collected by sensor ?

looking for earbud suggestions

Hi guys i’m here looking for suggestions for earbuds to buy. My airpod pro 2s are on their last legs so i think that it may be time to replace them soon. The case is completely shattered and the buds themselves have also started causing me a bunch of problems recently. I have an IPhone 16 and so i wanted to ask if there were any non apple earbuds i should look into before i automatically upgrade to the newest airpods.

I think the most important thing for me when looked for earbuds is sound quality specifically when listening to music. I love the music i listen to and want to feel like the music is in my head or that i’m at a concert when i’m listening to it (especially with some bass heavy songs). Open to any suggestions including newer airpods.

I was given my deceased grandmother's iPad but it has a password and I don't want to spend money to try to access it

As stated in the title my grandmother passed away and my aunt who's in control of the will gave me her iPad. Unfortunately it has a password. Does anyone know how to access it without an apple ID or anything? I don't have the funds to spend on having someone unlock it at a shop. I don't know what model it is but I was told it's relatively new

edit; do you think I could trade my iPad at a tech shop so they can use it for parts and I get a new one of a similar model or do most shops not do that?

Ho creato un'app Android gratuita che mostra la riparabilità, i cicli di batteria e gli anni di supporto software dal database EU EPREL (sono lo sviluppatore e cerco feedback)

Ciao a tutti!

È nuovissimo e sto ancora migliorando l'analisi. Cosa vorresti vedere che non c'è? Le critiche oneste sono molto benvenute.

Upgrade to a new laptop or pair current laptop with a Desktop?

TIA

My current laptop is struggling to keep up. I am in landscape design and do need hardware that can handle multitasking and design software Real Time/Adobe matched with casual gaming in my free time.

I am routinely on the move for work - meeting with clients or working at job sites. Mobility is helpful but much of the true design time is stationary at my desk

Is it more practical to keep the current laptop and pair with a solid desktop at home?

Or does it make more sense to upgrade the laptop…. I imagine I would end up needing to upgrade the laptop within a couple years regardless

I have a ~$2k or so budget

i think i failed to replace an external hard drive

i got an UnionSine 12TB 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive from my family in christmas 2024 before vacation, i've mention in my previous post that somethings seems wrong with it and i'm supposed to replace it last year. i didn't bothered because of price hikes and schedule conflicts. but on Sunday Night (October 4th) while i accidentally fallen asleep from 9 to 11pm, windows explorer freezes when after i opened it. so when i reboot pc and wait 10 minutes to boot up the desktop, i notice that the external hard drive won't connect (not a single file drive was shown) and then i hear clicking (meaing Click of Death) after i replugged back in (while turning the fan off) and so i immediately plugged it off. i panicked and tried replugging it in small seperate times (3-4) until i gave up.

i'm worried that i failed to protect my data once again (since 2018 over dropping an portable hard drive) all because my family got me a worst external hard drive WITHOUT knowing (and it's probably my fault. i didn't help them pick which hard drive i need other than unionsine because i started to have tinnitus during mid 2024). i may try plugging it back in one more time to see if i can still get access to data after leaving external hard drive off for days/week then softley blow dust off with an air hose (i believed there's an 99% chance it won't work once again though).

if the platter with data remain intact but the head and read/write are the only ones that doesn't work, i may start a fundraiser on gofundme or whatever to use money from that (instead of using most of my family's money this time because i don't want to waste it as a only present on christmas) for either data recovery or external hard drive transfer if i send it to an specialist who may succesfully transfer my data into their computer for free.

before i do all of that, does anyone have been through with this similar problem? and if so, does the platter remain unaffected (as in head stuck on park not touching it or something else) during the clicks sometimes? or is this the WORST scam ever that i wish someone should go back in time and prevent Unionsine products from ever existing.
