I finally open sourced Android 16 booting on an iPhone 7.

Sorry guys, this took longer than promised. I said I would release it about a month ago, but I got stuck on the boring finishing parts. I like weird, hard hobby projects like this, so if you have other “sounds impossible but maybe doable” ideas, send them my way. Cleaning them up afterwards is the hard part for me.

Tested only on my iPhone 7 / iPhone9,3 running iOS 15.8.8. Other devices are not tested.

Bluetooth
GPU acceleration
Untethered boot

It still needs a Mac to boot every time. The UI works, but it is slow because there is no GPU acceleration.

A lot of this was vibe-coded with AI, so please be careful and check things before running them.

I would be really happy if someone continues it, improves the drivers, or makes a proper dual boot / better boot setup.

I’ve been here since the iPhone 4 and GeoHot days, but I think I’m finally calling it, I am finally updating my iPhone 15 Plus.

I’ve kept my 15 Plus on iOS 17.2, the firmware it came with over two years ago, holding out. But with more and more apps requiring newer iOS versions, I keep asking myself what I’m actually waiting for—especially when I’m not even taking advantage of the jailbreak options available.

I still have an 8 Plus running unc0ver, but I barely use it anymore. It just doesn’t feel like it used to. I miss when jailbreaking was one of the most exciting parts of owning an iPhone.

Honestly, I don’t even know why I’m posting this. After all these years, hitting update feels like closing a chapter.
End of the ride for me, but what a ride it’s been.

Looking for a working location spoof tweak? Similar to relocate? I’ve used geranium but it always fails eventually and stops spoofing randomly, the creator or geranium told me it’s just what happens because of the way the newer iPhones work.

Anyone got any suggestions or alternatives? I was a really huge fan of relocate because it never stopped working.

Hey everyone! I just released OITI 0.1.0, the first public release of OITI as part of my larger OITUI project (Order In The User Interface).

OITI brings the Dynamic Island to iOS 16 devices that don't natively have a Dynamic Island. I originally started this project on my iPhone 8 Plus because I wanted to bring a more modern iOS experience to a device that never officially got it.

Features currently available:

• Enable or disable the Dynamic Island
• Automatic or custom Island positioning
• Custom color and opacity
• Option to hide the Island outline or hide the Island when not in use
• Notification banner positioning and custom offsets
• Independent X/Y scaling
• Separate Island width and height resizing, allowing you to change the Island's size without scaling its contents

Compatibility:

• iOS 16.x on a compatible rootless jailbreak
• Tested on an iPhone 8 Plus running iOS 16.7.16 with Dopamine 3.0 rootless
• Other devices and configurations may require custom positioning, I haven't confirmed compatibility with any device other than my 8 Plus

OITI is based on VisibleIsland, and has been extended as part of OITUI.

Development has been assisted by Claude. I have used it mainly for logging, diagnostics, debugging, and other things like that that are more for me and developers than they are for consumers. This is still an early release, so feedback, bug reports, suggestions, and anything of that nature are very welcome!

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update on Lantern since the initial release.

First, thanks to everyone who's tried it out, left feedback, or offered to help test. I've gotten some useful reports so far, especially from people on devices and iOS versions I haven't been able to test myself.

I've fixed an issue with the repo's package indexes, cleaned up the GitHub documentation, and added a compatibility report form to make it easier to keep track of what's working and what isn't.

Right now, I've confirmed Lantern working on my iPhone SE 2 running iOS 18.2 with Dopamine. Some people have reported that the Control Center button shows up but the flashlight stays white, while others have run into Safe Mode. I'm still working on figuring out why.

I'm also extracting data from my two iPhone 14 Pros running iOS 16.2 and 17.0, and I have an iPhone 11 Pro on iOS 18 coming in. Hopefully, having more devices to work with will help me narrow down the compatibility issues and get Lantern working on more setups.

If you've tested Lantern, whether it works or not, I'd appreciate it if you could fill out a compatibility report. I added some dropdowns so it shouldn't take long.

Still a work in progress, and I don't have an ETA on the next update yet. I'd rather figure out what's actually causing these issues than push out fixes that haven't been properly tested.

My iOS 12.5.8 device jailbroken via Amethsyt cannot login to Havoc. Havoc is not loginable with this setting and the help desk is not helpful at all, even though I demonstrated this with a video. They are not providing me with the deb of the tweak that I purchased. So I would like to download it via my iOS 16 device and copy to my iOS12 device. I’d appreciate any help.

I'm working on a project called HoolockOS, where I'm trying to run Debian Linux on an iPhone 8 Plus (A11), not through an emulator. I've already managed to boot Linux, get the screen displaying stuff, and get USB networking and physical buttons working. The main problem right now is that the touchscreen doesn't work. I've been digging through iOS 16.7.12 and found that the touchscreen uses Apple's Z2 protocol over SPI1 (spi-1,samsung). I've also extracted the original kernelcache and touchscreen firmware from the IPSW. Does anyone know anything about AppleHIDTransportProtocolZ2, AppleHIDTransportSPI, or how iOS initializes the touchscreen?
