Psychologically, I love spiders and deeply respect them (ex: whenever I found a spider in my childhood home, I'd be too scared to bring it outside, but I'd beg my dad to not kill it). But, when spiders get close to me or touch me, I go into fight or flight, and I'll sometimes even start crying from fear.
I just want to not be afraid of them anymore, so hopefully some fun spider facts will help :D (they can be facts to convince me that my phobia is unwarranted, or just general fun spider facts)
Also, I fucking love tarantulas. I don't know what it is, but I'm not scared of them. I'm also not afraid of insects. I pick up insects all the time, and am honestly struggling to figure out why I'm scared of what's basically an insect with a few more eyes and an extra pair of legs.

On holiday in Cape Verde, I was lucky to see one of my favourite spiders in real life for the first time!

Hi! My husband found this guy (or gal) in our house earlier today. We live in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina (USA) but neither of us have ever seen this kind of spider before.

Hi guys.
Any idea whwt what small spider this is? Found in Tzaneen, Limpopo in SA.
It moves and rotates like a jumping spider, but I've never seen one with these black and white markings.
Thanks!

What is it. For location, it's in Florida. I never posted on this subreddit before so if I used the wrong flair.

I found this lady last night. She was curled up, still moving her legs and mouth pincers slightly, I don’t think there is anything I can do. Poor lady. Beautiful color! Oranges, multiple shades of black and grey.

Update: Resolved!
Hello all! I'm more of a beetle person but as all us lovers of creepy crawlies know we get asked to id arthropods outside of our wheelhouse all the time. My friend in Colorado saw this beauty on a walk the other day and wants an ID. All of my reference material is for the north eastern part of our continent sadly so any help would be lovely!

It was sad to discover that she would soon complete his life. She was attacked by wasps a few times while staying on the web and jumped off for her life. It doesn't stay on its web anymore, but it's waiting between a brick on the edge of the web. If the web catches something, she gets out of there and checks. I think she's very smart.

I think this is the biggest spider I have ever seen
Correct me if I’m mistaken but I think it is a Mccook’s split wolf spider. They are very common in my area but I have never seen one this big!

Very small, like roughly ½". Found near kitchen sink. Very calm & shy. Tried to hide / make itself small when I first captured it. Shiny black with orange accents.
