I didn't even know isopods would do that to you! It kind of tickled.

Second generation of baby ducky's are finally coloring up nicely! Hanging out with the other subadults in the bin as well, while the big adults are lumbering around in their field of moist sphagnum moss😊
Side Note: Apologies for the high saturation, needed to get better lighting for the macro photo, but the only light I could use was the nearby plant shelf light🥲 (though the ducks don't seem to mind)

Not at all educated in isopods lol. Just here for fun and to share this cutie! I’ve never seen a brown isopod outside before, only the purple ones. Who is he?

Just showing off. My 3yo loves caring for our isopod colony. He handles, feeds, and talks to them almost daily. Started with 10, now we have sooooo many!

i just selected all the most yellow ones, this first ones are very vibrant, im very proud.
i was worried because, this started with 4 wild isopods, only one of them was this yellow and it died. i was worried it didn’t breed before die, but i guess he did!
(first picture is the 2 most vibrant of this gen, second is all the other with most visible yellow. and last pic is how the other 3 first adult look like)

I fell in love with isopods and I purchased a 40 gallon tank to try and eventually have my own little bioactive set up for them. I have been keeping a colony in a small shoebox and one by one they all keep dying… lately. I’m noticing these weird marks on the top of the clear wrap.

I bought 5 Titans this spring, and having read that they don't breed often, I wasn't expecting to find babies so soon!
I saw a bunch when I looked in yesterday, but of course I only see 1 or 2 once the camera is out.
Pic 3 has rice grains for scale, pics 4 & 5 have a few of the adults.

Hiiii everyoneeee I just made my first ever Isopod terrarium enclosure from plant cuttings I have around the house. I have about 10 dairy cow isopods in this 7 gal enclosure. What do y’all think? So far I’m loving it! Any ideas? Anything more I should add? And what about feeding them? I gave them some Betta fish flakes and saw some of them nibbling on it, I’ve already done research but would love to hear what works best for you ☺️
Btw I’ve put most of the leaf litter out in the back of the enclosure bc personally I think it ruins the look from front.

Found him like this. Bad molt? I've never seen anything like that. His whole back end is shiny, boulbus, and smooth/ fused together. He almost looks like a hermit crab. Picture of this normal looking family at the end.

They were chilling under the bark of a decaying tree. I took a peep and then let them go on with their important invert chores

My Shiro Utsuri seem to be very prone to have a smaller pod riding on bigger pod's head sideways. With other species I have, all the "rides" I witnessed were mating attempts and lasted for a few minutes tops, usually ending with the male being thrown off. But Shiro seems to be okay with wearing accessories for multiple hours, I've seen this couple like that at least since this morning, so for 9 hours in a row at least. Why?

Sorry for the repeated question, but now all my isopods are hiding in one spot and going no where else. This giant log is on the dry side of the enclosure. They have slowly started to collect in this one spot near the edge and top of the enclosure. They have stopped going anywhere else. The log is the biggest hiding spot, but I also have cork bark on the wet side along with plants and leaf litter. I keep the humidity between 70-80% but the humidity reader on the dry side says 90%. It seems like they are trying to crawl up to the ventilation holes, or maybe the moss on top of the log. I thought maybe the wet side was too wet, so I let it dry out a bit, but they’re still not going to that side. They only ever come down to eat and then they go right back up. What am I doing wrong? A few weeks ago they would explore every part of the enclosure and now they don’t.
