Now that the final video is out with the #MarauderIIC, I figured I'd start sharing the last piece of art I'd kept to myself up until release.

Oh Marauder IIC of the swamp, what is your wisdom?

An amazing art-piece by Flying Debris, which was done for my YT Channel. Not directly tied to any particular video or anything. Super happy with how it turned out, I think it looks incredible.

I'm just dropping this version with Nightshade here for everyone to enjoy. :)

Fan Creations Dream Casting a Terrible 1990s Battletech Live Action Movie

Post image
540 Upvotes

So, obviously, a *good* live action movie is basically impossible, but the best possible actor we could've had for Takashi Kurita passed away, and I think even a series a la Game of Thrones would be lesser without him.

What brought this to mind is that I'm reading through the novels again. I just finished Wolves on the Border and am now reading Heir to the Dragon. And there's exactly one person whose face comes to mind whenever Takashi is present in a scene.

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa

So, that got me wondering. Who else would've been perfect casting for an awesomely terrible/terribly awesome '90s Battletech movie?

Today's an important day where I can start releasing this artwork for people to see.

This one's of a Phoenix Hawk IIC for an Inner Sphere unit. Marco also did another perspective of this shot, which will get shown off later as well.

There is also a couple pieces by Eldonious Rex that'll be on display as well over the coming days.

Fan Creations I Still Make Original BattleMechs (and now I'm making it your problem)

When times are tough for a small, local, Inner Sphere serving ‘mech building mega corporation they so oft turn to old stock and retrofitting old mechs to resell to the unsuspecting buyer. Corvus MechWorks presents the IKT-0-M1 Iktomi. The Iktomi was made as an answer to an unforeseen downturn in company fortunes after the less than stellar initial sales of the GRB-1B Grebe.

Built off the chassis of a dock loading industrialmech, the IKT-0-M1 Iktomi sports a highly unconventional body plan with two forward vestigial arms on a quad mech body configuration. The original M1 load out sported two LRM5s an LRM15, a medium rifle, and two Rocket10’s on the forward legs to surprise anyone that ended up getting too close. Once the company’s fortunes began to look up, the M1 was completely replaced by the M1r, replacing the medium rifle with a large laser. Combined with a modest maneuverability with its four jump jets and a Pinard Protectorates Limited 220 Fusion Engine the Iktomi was a surprisingly effective 55 ton mech in small force projection campaigns, often against local pirates.

What was originally to be a low cost, long range fire support mech, after taking cues from the venerable Catapult, was able to turn into a surprisingly customizable quadmech. Able to support numerous weaponry load outs at a slightly lower cost than the typical rebuilds needed for similar equipment changes. Eventually Corvus MechWorks would produce several different weapon systems configured to the Iktomi, including all varieties of Autocannon, PPCs, Gauss rifles, and even Blazer Cannons when materials could be sourced.

These days original run M1 Iktomi mechs are one of the rarer quadmechs one can find. Don’t take rarity for value however, as they are often valued at even less than half of their original prices.

Fan Creations The Grand Titan Redesign: This time by Battletech Art Director Marco Mazzoni

Post image
907 Upvotes

"No Big Red! Stop! You cannot keep posting artwork from your new Battletech: The Grand Titan Video on reddit!"

I heard them cry. But I knew that I had to ignore them. They needed to see this. They needed to be confronted by the full power of the Purple Bird's big Mech. And so, I reached out, with a tremble in my hand, knowing the full weight of history was behind me, and did post the image once more. In doing so, I knew millions would suffer from seeing such beauty, but suffer they must.

All jokes aside. What an absolutely amazing piece by Marco Mazzoni. I'm in love with it. I hope you all enjoy this slice from the video, now here for all of you to appreciate it.

The Art is fan-based, but the new official design for the Grand Titan will be the new design going forward.
