Hello Ladies and Gents of Baseball!

I am new to Baseball and I have been watching the post season and man this sport is amazing and fun, I am reading more about it and learning as much as I can and since it going to be offseason soon I thought maybe try to pick my team and start brushing up on them and the history along with the current status before next season starts, I live in SoCal and I know people are going to say root for closest team lol however I feel no connection to the local teams .. Dodgers, Angels Padres etc .. just don't feel a draw towards them, Location of the team really doe not matter as my job allows me to be able to watch games at 4pm or 7pm so I wont miss anything there .. also I am able to travel to go see them play live so distance and location isn't a big factor for me, That being said .. the type of fan that I am with teams I root for is that I get very supportive of them, I invest money on Merch, I go to games when I can, I go all in and support my team, so if you can please pitch me your team! I don't mind rebuilding teams either I'm good with having to build up with the team ... who's family am I joining!? lol

As we all know, Justin Verlander just retired. I’ve never been a huge JV fan, but I’m a stats junkie so I decided to look up his final line for his career. Lo and behold, he just barely missed finishing up with more strikeouts than innings pitched: 3560 Ks against 3576.2 IPs.

So this sent me down a rabbit hole to see which great pitchers actually pulled this feat off. Currently there are two active pitchers with at least 2500 Ks and more strikeouts than innings pitched: Chris Sale and Max Scherzer. In this history of the game, of the 40 players with over 2500 Ks, only four pitchers finished with more strikeouts than innings pitched.

So without googling it, which pitchers do you think are on this very exclusive list? Post your guesses in the comments.

I think this video does an excellent job pf describing exactly what a balk is and is not, obviously there will still always be debate and subjectivity involved when it is a actually called in a game but this will help some of us actually understand instead of just spam posting the copypasta.

The third base runner take a HUGE LEAD

Question: Can you throw to third base for a pickoff and count it out? Or will the runner be able to run to home and score after you throw it to 3rd base?

Just had this happen in irl game earlier and our pitcher and 3rd baseman had a talk that pitcher shouldve thrown to 3rd to get the last out. I said to never throw to third in that situation because the 3rdBase runner will just sprint his way to home and score.

We went with my statement but it had me thinking—Could we have had a quick out right then and there?

(They werent able to score in that inning)

With how terrible and cluttered the modern broadcast has become (looking at you, prediction markets in-game trackers), I really like Fox's 100mph+ pitch graphic. Those flames are neat.

Genuinely curious to see if he frantically tapped his helmet, then threw, or threw while yelling “CHALLENGE! CHALLENGE!”, or turned after he threw and asked to challenge.
