Question My bf says I broke his ship… plz help

Long story short, I attempted to try to learn to play this game so I could surprise my boyfriend since he has no one to play with. I have pretty bad adhd and struggled with the instructions and honestly… I don’t really know a lot about Star Wars. I had put it away shortly after and resolved to do more research before trying to set it up again.

Longer story short, I somehow broke this ship (he told me yesterday when he noticed it and asked if I touched his game pieces, which I had to come clean about my idea for a surprise).

He’s pretty upset, I feel horrible. I didn’t think I was being particularly rough with them but here we are. I have offered to replace it but he wont accept.

Can someone here tell me which ship this is so I can look it up to try and replace it?

I also apparently broke a small piece off another ship but he put that one away somewhere and I can’t find it to try to replace that one as well. I think it was triangular and had like a little hook or something on the top (or bottom maybe) which is the part that broke. If I find it I’ll upload some photos.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Question Games like Armada?

Are there any sci-fi ship to ship combat games that aren't dead? I've played Leviathan from FASA Games and wasn't a huge fan, have heard of Dropfleet Commander but I can't find much about it online.

Question Linked Turbolaser Towers change

Building a rebel fleet for the first time in a while using ryan kingston's website when i noticed turbolaser towers got changed. My question is, how is it supposed to work now with rebel/empire ships, since none of them have the tags that the clone wars ships have? Do i just ignore it and stick to how it used to be?

Question Hammerheads - how many is too many?

I've slowly been getting Armada back to the table, after a long hiatus.

Looking through my collection, I think I own *too many* of a number of ships, and it seems like a sensible time to make them available to others.

So, how many Hammerheads does one need? I can't see myself ever using more than 1. Is there a great list I'm not aware of?

Question How do you store ISDs?

Hello all! I am getting back into armada and have gotten the core set as well as the Imperial-1 Class Star Destroyer Expansion, i am able to store the Nebulon-B as well as the CR-90 from the Core set, but i am running into trouble finding a way to store the Victory Class as well as my new ISD. I currently have storage containers from micheals and am wondering if there's anything that would be better then that to use.

Question How to fix this?

Hey guys, I recently managed to snag an ISD for a good price, but once it arrived, I noticed that the ship's stand's body is leaning somewhat to the left and this makes the Star Destroyer tilted.

Is there any way to fix this? Like heating the stand with an hairdryer or something?

Question Considering SW Armada

I already play some SW Legion and was thinking about giving armada a try.

Any recommendations on how to try the game without breaking the bank?

Question What ship did you initially write off, but then realize was a lot better than you first gave it credit for?

For me, absolutely the Rebel Providence. I wrote it off as clunky, awkward, and downright terrible, until I saw some people using it as a very unique squad pusher, and the rest was history. Now it's my default when running rebels.

Effectively 4 Squadrons, on a speed 3 Large Ship, and can actually equip Flight Controllers.

Unfortunately no Boosted Comms, so limited to medium range activations

Question Why armada is not supported?

First of all I haven’t played yet, waiting for everything to be printed, but what I see in rules and how I understand gameplay - it’s fantastic! Why they stop official support ?

Question Do Goran and Dengar stack?

A favored strategy of mine is to stick Dengar and a few Interceptors by Quasar with Stronghold and Goran, to make a largely unappealing wall to touch, but do Goran and Dengar's effects actually stack, or am I gaslighting my play group?

Question Recreating Starter Set with only Rebel ships?

A friend of mine really wants to try out Armada and I thought about just playing with the base set to ease him into the game. However, I only own a Rebel fleet (another friend collected the Empire's ships).

What do you think is the best substitute for the Victory-class from the starter set? An Assault Frigate has rougly the same point costs, but is quicker and has less hull. An MC80 is as slow and sturdy as a Victory-class, but way more expensive.

And for the TIEs, would you chose the Z-95 or rather some A-wings?

Question What's been your hypest moment playing?

Basically, what have been the coolest/best moments you've had in a game?

Once was lucky enough to crit an SSD with Luke's squadron, and got the crit effect that reduces their strongest shield to zero, making it vulnerable.

This was already pretty exciting, but my opponent quoting Piett enhanced it.

Question New to the game

I’m new to the game and have a question. I played my friends starter set and decided to buy my own fleet. I’ve bought some separatist 3d prints including a Lucrehulk. Does anyone know of an existing ship card for it?

Question Could i use these as Proxies without getting shouted at?

So i heard quite a lot about people getting gatekept from the hobby because they can't get the moddels. Lego however creates these very cool mini sets of Star Wars Warships so if i freestiled some of the smaller models i.e. the Starfighter could i use the lego models instead of the official one's?

On paper, they're sorta funny, although In practice the most that you could get from a ship is 3. An Interdictor with Engineering Team.

Question Solve this riddle, if you can (English as a second language)

So, this seems like a very simple question, but I was butting heads with two fellow players, regarding the Hyperspace Assault objective. As I read it, I have a bubble of range 1 around the objective token that my ship and squadrons merely need to touch to satisfy the deployment criteria. They read it as meaning that it had to be completely within range 1 of the token, and nothing could peak out of it.

So, friends whose English is the first/only language, or who master it better than us plebes, what say you?

Question What's a good second defensive retrofit for the assault?

I usually go with Early Warning System, and then draw a blank on the other. On the Providence I'd go with thermal shields, but can't do that with this one.

Question First play

I learned of Armada way too late. I never even put it on my list to own as the second hand market prices seem too steep for me. Recently, I found a LGS that had it in their library and played it for the first time. I’m simultaneously hooked and absolutely blown away at how much fun this game is. Games with such relatively simple rules that allow the depth of play to shine through feel more and more rare. I’m really kicking myself that I didn’t get in on this years ago. Is there hope that the FF Vault might reproduce in a crowdfunding or am I just stuck with the second hand market?

Question Is there any chance of some other company taking over the game?

I realize that, for many people who play Armada, 3rd parties with 3D printers have really filled in the gap. However, for those of us who aren't into that side of the hobby (I personally just have my fingers in too many pies when it comes to free time - I just don't have the hours or interest to paint these ships), Fantasy Flight selling out/Atomic Mass Games ending production was sort of... the end.

Obviously, the expensive part of this hobby from a manufacturing perspective is the ships themselves - the cardboard pop-outs are just... cardboard pop-outs. And there is some precedent for a small sci-fi ship line being dumped and then resumed: Eaglemoss (with their Star Trek license) went out of business, and Fanhome picked up the pieces and soldiered on. So even though those are just collectibles and this is a game... I feel like there is some overlap in the transition that was made there.

Is there any chance that some other company might look at the continuing interest in Armada and buy the license (or... maybe just produce a similar game that we could reuse our current collections in)? Because, I gotta be honest: I'm priced out of Ebay now. This has become a phenomenally expensive hobby.

Question A rework to a custom ship: the Viscount Class Star Defender 2.0

A few months back, I attempted to do a test game with a Homebrew Rebel Huge ship, the viscount. What resulted was a basically indestructible, poorly designed beast that just bulldozed the enemy. After an extensive rework, I've tried to rework it a bit.

Viscount: Stats

402 points

30 hull

4 Command, 6 Squadron, 5 Engineering

Up to 2 speed, same nav chart as the SSD

5 shield front, 4 shield sides, 3 shields auxiliary sides, 3 shield rear

2 brace, 2 redirect, and 2 contain as defense tokens

Viscount: Dice

Front: 4 Red, 4 Blue

Side: 4 Red, 4 Blue

Auxiliary side: 3 Red, 2 blue

Rear: 2 Red, 1 Blue

One of each for anti squadron

Viscount: upgrade slots

4 officers, 1 support team, 2 fleet command, 2 fleet support, 1 offensive retrofit, 1 ion cannon, 1 turbolaser

In a hard pivot from the original incredibly bulky ship, I wanted to make this a massive support vessel. 2 Fleet command and 2 Fleet Support should make it able to help a larger fleet with whatever it needs.
