Question Could i use these as Proxies without getting shouted at?
So i heard quite a lot about people getting gatekept from the hobby because they can't get the moddels. Lego however creates these very cool mini sets of Star Wars Warships so if i freestiled some of the smaller models i.e. the Starfighter could i use the lego models instead of the official one's?

Technicaly as long as you have the plastic base and the actual ship card base with the firing arcs, you dont even need the model in the first place. As long as your lsit is valid and the cardboard base is the actual bsse for that ship you should be good- though i understand some would prefer the actual model so that way pieces dont fall out or the ship model doesnt get disconected from the base.

These models are pretty solid the only things that are loose are the attached mini ISD's but otherwise they don't really loose parts.

If youre new id suggest atleast getting a starter kit if possible, since it contains the core game and ship base, tokens, measuring tools, etc. Experiance and knowing people who play will give you a good idea of what you can and cant substitute though like everyone says, the really important parts are the plastic bits that actualy notch into the official movement tool and this peice of cardboard with the green lines on it (depicted underneath the ssd model)

For a long retired game that isn't hosting any "official" competitions you'll be hard pressed to find anyone barring you from doing much. Armada players will jump at the chance to play with anyone at this point.
So i heard quite a lot about people getting gatekept from the hobby because they can't get the moddels.
Not really how that works... If you don't own a game you typically can't play the game, I don't think that's unreasonable, nor do I think the word "gatekeep" comes into play here. That being said, since the retirement of the game, 3rd party products have exploded, so exact copies of the models are very accessible, even if the official ones aren't.
Scale is something messed around with in Armada already. The models are in a sliding scale, so few of them perfectly match up in scale. For example, the SSD model is no where near proper scale to any other ship, and the small base ships are too large in comparison to the ISD model (the CR-90 corvette obviously can't fit in the ISD hangar). But those ISD Lego models are miniscule compared to the actual Armada ISD model, so it wouldn't work at all. The SSD might be close to the official model, but not those tiny ISDs. They look even smaller than a Light Cruiser.
So no. If you're asking about the pictured models, I doubt very much that they will be appropriate. There is an official and unofficial rule in games like these, and that's not to obscure your model in a way that makes it unrecognizable, intentionally or unintentionally confusing your opponent. I need to know what ship I'm playing against, it can't be ambiguous.
If you built a proper Lego model with recognizable details, which was at least quite close to the scale of the official models, and you found a way to mount it on official stands with official cardboard firing arcs, I'd have absolutely no problem playing against you. But you can't play ISDs on the table and use Lego models 4 times smaller than they're supposed to be.

As others have said so long as you have proper bases I wouldn’t mind. Personally I’ve seen quite a few people using proxies at the event I went too. Too say nothing of the fact that they are going to be the best way to expand the player base going forward. Personally I’m working on making Kotor fleet with the republic cards.

If they shout, shout back & louder! Then block & ban them from your life.
As long as the base is correct for the purpose of measurements, any crying after that is behaving in bad faith.
Run.

Consideirng the costs of Legos these days, you'd be better off getting a 3D printer for anything other than squadrons.

Look i like the ship models so they would be dual purpose if i got the stuff together to play Armada.

Considering that specific Lego is $70, for the same price you can go on Etsy and get some bases and a ship or two (depending on size) that are 3D printed by one of many talented people, or even find someone local to do it for cheaper. As many people have said, the bases are the main thing for the game. They are how you measure movement, shooting, and so on. I have played against people who have just used just the bases, people with official models, people with 3D printed models, and so on. You could use other models, as long as the person you’re playing with is cool, but I will say the 3D printed option offers a lot of very cool and detailed models!

I’d play with it, but I also got laughed at for making my own Brettonian fleet for Man O War out of old Corks :)

Midi scale armada would be awesome, unfortunately you’ll have to moc most the models yourself and downscale some.

I mean if you custom built it that’s super cool and I’d play against it. Same if it’s from a set but even more okay if it’s custom.

Your mileage may vary from person to person, but I'd absolutely be cool with someone playing with Lego ships.
You'll want to figure out a good way to make bases for the ships that match the dimensions of the official bases so the game will work properly, otherwise build away.
