have these guys explain it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmYiBp9HMR4
i feel like lane 'plays predictable or nice' when he's in an opponent's stadium with fans jeering him because deep down he wants to be liked, so he lets off easy and give the opponent chances to win and lose the game to please the opponent's crowd. he gotta let that shit go man and just win football games, they will stop jeering him once he stacks enough wins to the point he's respected like kobe and mike vick after their off-the-field issues to be liked again, even with saban leaving LSU for bama just to be hated at LSU until saban retired...just win and overcome these jeering crowds, cmon

i think lane kiffin needs to make a pilgrimage to go see les miles to channel his antics, cuz having the shadow of nick saban to play expected conservative football isn't how we do things around here

If you ever want to know if your team is “good”, watch how their O line and D line either manhandle or GET manhandled. What happened to having an LSU O line that could get some push? What happened to D linemen that could push their guard into the backfield? The reason we are so disappointing is trench play above all else.

Family and I are heading to the Mississippi State game from indiana. I know everyone says walk around and somebody will welcome you in. That was fun in my 20s, but would rather not do that this time haha.
I did some searching and didn't really find anything. Anybody know of family friendly tailgates, or paid tailgates?

so for the new nick saban documentary for what we can take away from it
obviously, it starts with 'the process' of working for what you have to do in increments in order to achieve the results you want, without being outcome-orientated, which becomes external pressure, but rather have motivation be internal in regards to getting the little things correct repetitively, which accumulates into big tasks accomplished over time, by the discipline of carrying out hard tasks over long periods of time long after your opponent gave up while simulating that in practice...control your controllables, be consistent regardless of wins or losses because you want to attack the next thing, so don't have 'relief syndrome' of having a big win deter you from doing the next tasks completely and correctly
have every play have a life of its own for 6 seconds at a time, and if a modern football game has 100 plays, that amounts to 600 seconds which is 10 minutes of strenuous play. the mentality of 'being a champion' is an internal compass to do your best even when nobody is watching, rather than just 'winning games' which is external outcome-driven motivation...and nick saban is the coach that brings upon and reinforces those values to his players with the help of sports psychiatrist dr. lionel rosen.
then there's the mentality of treating games with 'no opponent and no scoreboard' for doing things up to your standard and not play down to your opponent, 'playing not to lose' with conservatism which brings about the 'trap game', or having external factors fuel your motivation, because then you become vulnerable when there is outside noise (that you cannot control) become the fuel your motivation to practice, play, and execute correctly in-game. hone it towards executing a high level of actions over time as the standard no matter what.
nick saban does not focus on accomplishments because he's always humbling himself towards focusing on the next thing. winning the natty just means the season ended later, whereas everyone else had a head start on recruiting for the next season already, so they are behind. never rest your laurels for whatever reasons and always focus on your tasks in a vacuum away from outside nose and outcomes to just do the best you can do in that instance and living with the results with no regrets knowing that you did your best.
in terms of out-organizing everyone else and outperforming everyone else with stacking recruits and roster depths, alabama did their best, but in the age of NIL and free agency, those things no longer are an edge when star players can transfer elsewhere to start for another program paying them more, or if you are playing against an equally talented roster of clemson or a coordinator that used to work for nick's coaching staff, like kirby at UGA.
so saban won his first 4 natties at LSU and bama by out-recruiting, outworking, and out-executing everyone else to the point NCAA rules were made. bama also won the natty in the covid year by treating football in a vacuum and getting rid of distractions in the world that derailed every other football program. for the times when the rosters were equivalent in bama vs clemson or bama vs UGA, they had to change their strategy by doing the onside kick to get the ball back from clemson or starting a freshman where UGA didn't have tape on tua to prepare against him with his throwing ability than the expected run or dump passes with jalen hurts. in essence, nick saban's way of old school offense and defense worked until it didn't against auburn's, ole miss's, and ohio state's spread offenses in 2010 to 2013, and only then did saban adapt and get lane and sark to learn what the new schemes are for offense and defense.
the heavyweight showdowns of clemson and UGA to earn his 5th and 6th natty, saban changed where he had to raise his level of play by trick plays and updated offensive schemes. when the playing field becomes equal in the age of NIL, transfer portal, and there is no ability to stack rosters anymore (to the point it looks like the NFL that saban burnt out from), plus the complicated defensive schemes from the ravens defense that bama couldn't figure out when being beaten by michigan twice in the playoffs and the rose bowl, that's when saban finally retired.
so the lessons are: do the small things correct based on your own judgement as validation without external factors and noise until it becomes a habit of discipline up to your standard. saban won his first 4 and last natties by using that. but in the face of equal competition in clemson and UGA, you have to gain an edge by outscheming them, trick plays, outwitting them with another star player, for who gets the ball last wins the game. saban was unable to change his ways for a long time when he was losing against spread offenses until he begrudgingly finally changed and took outside factors and changed in order to call audibles to win the game, but already in the momentum with his established process. unlike other teams, they take external motivators such as the crowd and bulletin board material as motivation, but that well can run dry the minute you are playing a lesser opponent and it becomes a trap game where you play down to their level of competition and they have a chance to beat you. instead, sync up your realities where regardless if you win or lose, you continue to self-improve, sync up the same schedules of discipline regardless of outcome, and play at the standard you want to achieve to obtain your goals, but only looking at the incremental factors of getting the little things right until you become the embodiment of it without the influence of external factors and outcomes, hence 'be a champion' instead of 'win games'

People seem to forget we have 60 new players. This is Lane's FIRST year. Give the man some time.
Lane is an offensive coach, and all things considered the offense was pretty good last night. 34 points wins games the vast majority of the time. Lane inherited a delapidated roster and did what he could to gear up for this season.
I think Leavitt is likely not the guy, but we should give him more than 5 games to get settled. This is head and shoulders above ASU level football, and will take some adjustment. I can remember similar posts about Burrow and Jayden after their first few games their first seasons. We should at LEAST give him a full season before jumping to those conclusions.
Blake Baker was disappointing last night, especially on the 2pt play. But we also need to remember the turnover with the roster when it comes to execution and learning the scheme. We're also missing Whit, which I believe is understated. Whit is such a vocal leader when it comes to playing physical smash mouth football.
If there's any legitimate gripe about last night, it's punting with 1:40 on the clock. If you play scared you're gonna lose. That's the only criticism I'll lay at Lane's feet, but I also understand that if you go for it and don't get it, the hate he'd get would be out of this world.
Overall, I think it's unrealistic to expect perfection in his first year. We've lost 2 close SEC road games at night. Let's all take a breath fellas.

Lose was infuriating and sucks but theirs no time for him or the team to mope. Kamario Taylor is coming to Tiger stadium after a week of rest . They’ll prob have their stud running back back as well. If this team enters that game moping about that loss that game will go south and this season will fall completely off the rails.
No one wanted to be in a situation where we have two losses before the end of October but that’s the bed you made. Gotta win out from here and it starts with taking care of business and beating state. Put yourself in position by the time the bama game gets here playoff dreams are still realistic. Do I expect us to win out ? No. Do I think we have the ability to hang with any team left on our schedule? I Honesly do but how the team responds this week will tell us a lot about lane’s
Ability to pick the team up from a deflating loss

Fifty million plus dollars to go to end up going to the Texas Bowl as best case scenario
Entire country hates us. We're the laughingstock of the nation.
Kicker misses 2 chipshot field goals and we still trip over our dicks and lose.
Nothing will be done to change this. It's so fucking infuriating.

Who do you think gets the biggest share of blame? Like, is it the quarterback, front 7 on defense, offensive line, coaching, etc? If we're firing off the hottest takes. Who are we blaming?

I understand they got two TDs and the game winner off huge missed calls by the refs, but overall do you think they were bad?

I cannot fucking stand this dude. He struggles to throw the ball more than 10 yards. He has no composure in the pocket. Ole Miss had him scared, he doesn’t even look to throw half the time. Almost a glorified running back. Game on the line, he has fucked us over multiple times. We are the most fraudulent number 10 ranked team I’ve ever seen and we’re not winning a damn thing with Leavitt as our starting QB.
r/LSUFootball • u/RagingMorningBoner • 2d ago
This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I don’t think Sam Leavitt is the main issue, at least last night.
Sam’s gotta take better care of the ball for sure, but our receivers just don’t impress me. We don’t really have a playmaker in the receiver room right now.
We couldn’t run the ball at all last night outside of a few decent Leavitt runs. Our OL is struggling in the pass and run game, and it’s hard to consistently move the ball with a sub par OL.
Brutal loss. Joe Sloans offense looked comparable to ours. Can’t be losing those games, regardless if it’s the first year or not for this staff. It’s the Kentucky staffs first year as well.
Hope Kiffin can get this pieced together. How’s everyone else here feeling?

Your whole Damn career your known for being aggressive and when we only needed one more yard to ice the game you make a Brian Kelly move and punt the ball …. Fucking ridiculous man we shouldn’t have even been in that position for the game to go to OT
