Discussion Indian minds are still colonized(excluding exceptions), majorly all the foreign breeds(lab/golden/husky/chihuahua etc.) are inside indian houses.

Post image

These foreign breeds at home sleep at the couch, bed, with AC, get kisses, eat royal canin/pedigree etc. and our indies are out of Indian homes eating leftovers, getting 2 mins of pampering and then again left on the roads.

Dog lovers and animal lovers who eat non-veg are the real hypocrites in India.

Change will happen slowly as I see many people adopting indies. My apartment complex has many adopted indies some literally off the streets. Though many breeds are also there but change and compassion for our Indies is very visible.

The only sad part is that while I see many well to do people in Bangalore adopt indies, i have been noticing people not so well off have breed dogs. I had a carpenter come home and he said he has a husky at home. There is a couple run small mom-pop store behind my house - they have a golden and lab. Nothing against their preferences but earlier these people were the ones who had indies at home and we're very pro street dogs. Now we see they have shifted to breed as it's easily available due to rampant unethical breeding.

u/Realistic_Orange2606 Jun 05 '26

It’s also a side income where they breed these dogs to sell the puppies.

6

u/Confident-Profile143 Jun 05 '26

Yeah that too ! So sad... Breeding should be completely banned.

7

u/Downtown-Freedom9265 Jun 05 '26

Yes.. we have adopted one, and our neighbour has adopted 4 indies, 2 of them died recently due to distemper

u/Mekamaruu Jun 05 '26

Indies is the best !! I once rescued a indie pup and she was so intelligent within 2 days she learned tricks and so playful no I ssue in eating food very very flexible. That’s why I’m gonna adopt another indie soon they are absolute cuties!!

You not eating non veg doesn't make you any better than people who do eat non veg. Unless you're actively saving any animals from getting slaughtered, you ain't doing shit. That cow, goat, chicken etc is going to get slaughtered anyway.

Get off your high horse and use your brain, humans are omnivorous by nature. We're keeping and herding animals for the sole purpose of eating them. If farmers stopped keeping animals because of veganism, all farm animals will go extinct

-11

u/Plea-8859 Jun 05 '26

Change starts from within, I care about not killing other animal and not putting in my gut to digest. Stop with your world view, do something in your own home first.

10

u/Adzz28 Jun 05 '26

Yeah? Do something in my own home? I'll let you know I have actually rescued multiple farm animals as well as dogs. I've done more than you ever will

Change starts from within, it will start if you are disciplining your own life and not trying to control the life of others.

Your comment sucked so bad, that it didn't even make it to the comment section. Fk off bot

1

u/fatherisadouchbag Jun 08 '26

do you drink milk?

-8

u/Additional-Topic-581 Jun 05 '26

Let's be honest, you are just finding a reason to justify your bad habit (not different than politicians and billionaires justifying their actions with similar bullshit), humans have this great ability to adapt to anything, people have lived and thrived without harming animals, I understand it's not easy for weak minded people, especially when your minds don't want to live with cognitive dissonance, but I hope you get the strength to overcome it one day

13

u/Adzz28 Jun 05 '26

The issue is not my self control. Upto 80 % of Indians have protein deficiency. Just because you can avoid meat doesn't mean you should.

How many farm animals have you actively rescued instead of just pretending like you're above everyone else just because you're vegetarian? Only the mass slaughter industries are cruel. Instead of crying about veganism, you should support ethical farmers to maintain balance

-2

u/Additional-Topic-581 Jun 05 '26

good for you my man, i can't imagine support eating animals, how can killing an animal ever be ethical, it's good you have found a balance, maybe i will change my opinion in future , let's see

6

u/Adzz28 Jun 05 '26

How can killing an animal ever be ethical? Are you seriously asking that? We are a part of the food chain, just like every other animals. We have a part to play in nature and as long as we don't abuse our power, our part is very necessary. Eat free range farm animals. We provide a shelter for them and their youngs, we provide food, we provide care. And in the end, we benifit from it. All animals have a part to play in this ecosystem, we're a part of it. Do you feed your dogs only veg? If yes, I hope you know you're a horrible 'dog lover'

2

u/LordofPvE Jun 07 '26

That's literally why I hate vegans to the core of my being. You can always pretend to be better but the soy beans you grow, killed the fertile land it grew on, killed millions of insects that depends on fertile land just so you can have your almonds n soy beans

And that will NEVER happen.

Like I said already, humans are built to eat meat. You can't get many essential vitamins, iron and zinc from plants only without supplements. Keep in mind that supplements are not accessible everywhere or to everyone. You are privileged enough to care about these things, many people are not.

Vegans have to take vitamin D supplements and since it's fat soluble, it can cause heart and kidney diseases. It is always better to avoid supplements when the actual source is accessible to you.

Iron and zinc supplements wrecks the gut in long term and causes vomitting, diarrhoea etc. It can even lead to copper deficiency which will cause even more issues. Don't say these can be obtained from plants because the absorption rate that plants provides is very low.

And I want to ask you something, what do you think will happen to the farmers if veganism happens in large scale? They'll loose an insane amount of money, it is very expensive to take care of large cattles. I would know, I've recused many from slaughter houses. Not all of them are rich and if the animals are not providing any income for them, they will stop keeping cattles. This will lead to mass extinction or even more stray animals

7

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '26

[deleted]

6

u/Adzz28 Jun 05 '26

Literally. They're so out of touch with reality it's actually crazy. We've evolved for millions of years to eat meat and now they want us to go against biology? Ethical farming of meat could solve so many issues but they refuse to address that

1

u/LordofPvE Jun 07 '26

You are fighting bots bro, stop. Veganism is inherently flawed. It started like Marxism, it was good concept on paper but doesn't work

5

u/WebDismal2217 Jun 05 '26

So this might be a dumb question, but how do you guys adopt indies?, do you just take them off the street or you visit a local shelter for adoption?

4

u/Adzz28 Jun 05 '26

I've got six indies. I adopted all of them from the street, vaccinated and sterilized them and now they're permanent residents of our house. But if you're worried about the dogs past (diseases, aggressiveness, vaccines etc), you can visit a shelter

1

u/WebDismal2217 Jun 05 '26

Thanks for replying. Were they still puppies when you adopted them ? If yes did you separate them from their mother ?

1

u/Adzz28 Jun 05 '26

Not all were puppies but most of them were when I adopted them.

The first one was a puppy from our street. His mom lived in our colony and we used to feed her. She eventually got super close to us and became a house dog. All of the pups she gave birth to got adopted except one and we kept him. She was later neutered and died of old age (her puppy is now 11)

The second was abandoned by his mum cause he was the runt of the litter. Usually if the last puppy is very weak and the litter is large, moms will either abandon or kill the last puppy. We raised even before he opened his eyes.

The third came to us when she was a full grown adult. She came from some other street and begged for food infront of our house. We noticed she was pregnant and ended up taking care of her.

Two of her babies got adopted but the remaining three didn't so we've kept it

2

u/WebDismal2217 Jun 05 '26

Oh wow that's great, thanks for sharing.

2

u/Adzz28 Jun 05 '26

No issues!

6

u/DiligentCoach Jun 05 '26

You have a good point about the breeding and that entire industry as a whole, I completely agree. Being a big supporter of Adopt don't shop myself, it is really sad to see how people treat them.

However you completely lost me at the non-veg part. Stop judging and hating on people for what they eat man.

1

u/LordofPvE Jun 07 '26

OP is a just vegan, using indie dogs to support his own agendas

11

u/Hav0c_R Jun 05 '26

dog lovers and animal lovers who eat non veg are hypocrites

Why are dog lovers who eat non veg hypocrites?

-9

u/Plea-8859 Jun 05 '26

Any animal lover and eating non-veg selectively is sheer hypocrisy.

12

u/Lexillios Jun 05 '26

Sorry but i had a severe protein deficiency and b12 deficiency when I was vegetarian for 7 years. My doctor who was gujrati was also telling me to eat fish 🙃 supplements are expensive if youre a student.

10

u/Broad-Importance4282 Jun 05 '26

OP seems like a wannabe activist. If you consume milk and other dairy products you have no credibility. It’s literally law of nature. Prey and predators exist in every ecosystem. Stronger ones prey on the weaker ones. Animals being killed for fun is wrong, for sustenance and food is different. Don’t force your choices on everyone

Do you eat non-veg?

8

u/Broad-Importance4282 Jun 05 '26

I do and i will continue eating it. You don’t like it then don’t eat. No one is obligated to follow your ideologies

8

u/Uncrowned_Monarch Jun 05 '26

Bro i love non veg, I'll eat extra so your effort goes to waste.

-1

u/Plea-8859 Jun 05 '26

Of course you do, look at what are you writing 😂

16

u/Hav0c_R Jun 05 '26

My dog eats meat. I have to feed him nonveg. I like non veg too. Does that make me a hypocrite?

-8

u/Plea-8859 Jun 05 '26

If your point is that your dog eats non veg and that's why it's fine for you to eat as well then 2 minutes mourn for you my friend.

13

u/Broad-Importance4282 Jun 05 '26

Is the dog a hypocrite for eating other animals but loving humans i.e. a different species? Such a stupid take. Take your moral policing elsewhere

9

u/Hav0c_R Jun 05 '26

So are you going to be ok with feeding non veg to dog while preaching vegetarianism? Because your dog will prefer meat over it. Of course it can survive on supplements and pure veg diet. But will it prefer to?

-2

u/Plea-8859 Jun 05 '26

I don't eat or feed dead animals of any kind to anyone.

8

u/Hav0c_R Jun 05 '26

Yeah then you're denying the dog his true food. Youre doing more harm to dogs

-1

u/Plea-8859 Jun 05 '26

Roadies salute to your fumbness

1

u/burndhousedown Jun 08 '26

If your dogs don’t get their animal protein and if you can’t tailor a vegetarian diet with all the amino acids dogs need then you are an ANIMAL ABUSER.

Get down your high horse and touch grass, maybe eat some too since you love it so much.

1

u/Plea-8859 Jun 08 '26

Blah blah, go and continue drinking blood and eating flesh n bones of dead animals.

-11

u/sattukachori Jun 05 '26

Yes that makes you a hypocrite. You like non veg because you have not deeply reflected about the impact of your actions. It is a very well established ethical principle that eating animal is wrong. You have to take a visit to any philosophy subreddit to find the answer. In addition, you can search slaughterhouse videos on youtube and watch the undercover videos of the way animals are treated in India. They suffer the same way we do.

11

u/Hav0c_R Jun 05 '26

It's not an established ethical principle that eating animal is wrong. Stop putting conclusions as statements.

You feeling bad for eating animals is a cognitive process that arose because man thinks. Just because you feel bad for animals doesn't mean you can deny the dog his nature. Same way you also cannot deny your own nature. Our digestive system is made to consume both plants and animals. Your teeth aren't flat like a cow, they have canines for tearing meat.

If you give dog food to your dog but refrain from non veg and also preach vegetarianism, you're the hypocrite.

0

u/sattukachori Jun 06 '26

Just because you have not used the same cognitive process to think and reflect on your choices or read some books on animal ethics, you cannot dismiss that a large discipline exists on animal ethics. Your lack of knowledge is not proof that the knowledge does not exist.

I know that this subreddit is very hostile to any suggestion of animal ethics. I have observed and participated in these discussions for a long time here.

https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/moral-animal/

I don't know how you guys compare yourself to a cow. Did somebody ask you to eat grass and leaves? Do you eat raw meat? You have to eat cooked food. like a civilized person.

I do not feed my dog or my community dogs meat based dog food. I only feed them 100% vegetarian dog food that I order from Amazon. I suggest veganism not vegetarianism. I bet you don't even know what veganism means but will reply something out of spite to win an argument rather than taking some time to research and read what you're talking about.

1

u/Plea-8859 Jun 06 '26

Love you man! Pure vegetarian forever, non veg eaters being animal lovers is the biggest hypocrisy on this planet.

2

u/Hav0c_R Jun 06 '26

Dog lover =/= every animal lover.

0

u/Hav0c_R Jun 06 '26

Sure buddy use the same ad hominem remarks without scientific basis. Your whole argument rests on "oh no but animal feels pain." This is the same as feelings>facts.

Dont bring the civilisation argument here. Cavemen ate cooked meat too doesn't mean they're more civilised.

If you're feeding your dog vegan food you're denying him his nature. Simple as that. It's even worse that you're not giving him milk based products.

1

u/Plea-8859 Jun 06 '26

Meet our cavemen here, Mr. Cavemen Hav0c_R

1

u/sattukachori Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 06 '26

There's enough scientific evidence that vegan diet is healthy for both dogs and humans. There's enough philosophical argument that eating animals is wrong.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9860667/

Feelings and facts are not watertight compartment. I never understand people who say fact>feelings. What does that even mean? You're a wholly emotional being. Why stigmatize feelings only when it comes to animal ethics? Besides, there is enough scientific evidence that animals feel pain and suffering, show emotional intelligence, can solve puzzles. Do you remember just some months back everyone was sympathizing with punch the monkey? All day the posts and comments on this subreddit invoke "feelings" for indie dogs. How can feelings be wrong?

I don't plan to continue this conversation any longer. It's a drain of my time. There's enough information on internet to read about animal ethics if you're interested.

1

u/xxghostiiixx Jun 06 '26

Dog eat bones so are they bad too

6

u/Lexillios Jun 05 '26

But what about when someone has abandoned a breed dog. Theyll need someone to take care of them. I adopted my pomeranian from a shelter. Shes three legged and was around 2 years. The shelter people told me people end up only adopting puppies so all the adult dogs usually live in the shelter forever 🥺💔 Shes a very good girl and her temperament is good. Even my vet was surprised because shes never been aggressive even when she was in pain once. Someone had bought her , trained her and then abandoned her on the streets :(

5

u/Plea-8859 Jun 05 '26

My post has 'excluding exceptions'.

5

u/AromaticPotato Jun 05 '26

what does being non-veg gotta do with this? i have an indie puppy and i pamper it and i still eat beef and other non-veg

1

u/Odd_Profile_2943 Jun 05 '26

Why do people look at me different when I tell them that I enjoy dog meat then

2

u/Blackzee888 Jun 05 '26

Same way you look at me differently when I say I eat non veg and love dogs

0

u/Odd_Profile_2943 Jun 05 '26

I don't look at your category differently, i look at people differently who claim to be animal lover and also a non vegetarian. You chaps on the other hand are cool to me. I just love the tender grilled dog meat is all.

-4

u/Plea-8859 Jun 05 '26

Dog is an animal and you love to eat animals(selectively of your choice).

6

u/deafbull Jun 05 '26

Ants, flies and all other insects, bacteria, protozoa and all microbes - all of them have life. By your brilliant logic, a dog-lover should be worrying all day about not harming any kind of life. Even better, you should adopt Jainism, become a monk and follow the path of absolute ahimsa.

Your idea of emotional companionship found in an animal and your knowledge of the scientific concepts of food web and ecological balance, are pretty flawed and divergent. Please educate yourself, before being a hypocrite veiled as a saint.

-3

u/Plea-8859 Jun 05 '26

You keep eating dead animals, your only logic and way of life. Food web and ecological balance..hahah!

Kahan se aate hain ye log 😅

5

u/deafbull Jun 05 '26

Tell me about your diet and your "way of life". I am genuinely curious and willing to learn how you survive without harming any living being.

Oh, but I know you won't reply logically. You can only say "Kaha se aate hai yeh log" and move on with your attention-seeking karma-farming pretentious life.

0

u/Plea-8859 Jun 05 '26

Get up at 6am, 1.5 hours of Ashtanga yoga. Breakfast includes poha, upma, sabudana, parathe, idli, dosa and sandwiches sometime(everything vegetarian). Work starts at 9am and ends up 10.15pm. I only eat twice a day and dinner includes rice with any legumes, pulses and curd. Ye Le bhai!

7

u/deafbull Jun 05 '26

I am unable to see how this lifestyle doesn't harm "any life", as you claimed previously. Please enlighten us!

0

u/Plea-8859 Jun 05 '26

Stop eating dead animals and you'll understand the difference in energy 😅

4

u/Blackzee888 Jun 05 '26

I guess every animal should stop eating animals and let the food web be destroyed. The world will become a better place

-1

u/Plea-8859 Jun 05 '26

First you stop eating dead animals as human being, leave animals choices and their hunting to themselves.

5

u/Blackzee888 Jun 05 '26

Maybe first stop preaching moral science and do something meaningful for the world instead of just typing and preaching online. This way the world will definitely be a better place. And yeah, I have adopted 4 indies despite devouring non veg. Let me know how many you have adopted! 😇

3

u/animeshrawat Jun 05 '26

Pal, i got two indies living a life that even huskies would envy. Seen a lot others being treated the same. This was not the situation 10 years back. Give it time, have seen their proportion as pets to foreign breeds steadily increase. People of varying social and sconomic standing have started warming up to our cutie Indies. Change is definitely happening. We need to adopt a positive mindset about it, and try to motivate others to adopt them as well.

3

u/paneer_dosa Jun 05 '26

3

u/Spirited_Command5642 Jun 05 '26

U don't really need to downgrade those dogs tbh, they've done nothing wrong aswell. It's not their fault that they end up in our households.

Instead of badmouthing such breeds u shd just promote the adoption of indies.

5

u/JoBoltaHaiWoHotaHai Jun 05 '26

Lmao

Noone's badmouthing other dogs, OP is badmouthing people who think dogs worth keeping as pets are the foreign breeds only.

2

u/baburao_apte Jun 05 '26

It is not about those dogs but the illegal breeders and their reluctance to understand the basic geography of this land.

1

u/Plea-8859 Jun 05 '26

Did you understand what I wrote ? I was talking about Indian human beings mind being colonized, I'm not blaming dogs, please read again.

Dogs don't understand the cash flow being generated from royal canin/pedigree etc. and who eventually benefits from it. Think deeply!

1

u/atlantis2705 Jun 05 '26

Indies are the the most loyal doggies. I feed strays. I can say Old generation is the main Trouble maker. Like why you are feeding here, they poop near my gate. Take them to your home etc etc.

1

u/Double_slit_photon14 Jun 05 '26

That’s right…
don’t feed out on the roads adopt feed them in your home. Thats would be good for you and dogs..
All the best

1

u/Wanderer_8961 Jun 05 '26

My adopted indie whom I started feeding and he gradually made our house his lives right next to me throughout the day in AC and he eats pedigree only as last option first option is what I am eating

1

u/Pink-S0ul Jun 05 '26

I had this interaction with a person recently where he was justifying why his breed dogs are better than my indie child and comparing that his breed dogs who are btw agressive and not properly trained is a good thing according to him because their agression protects their farms from leopard. However, there have been no such incident what so ever. This pissed me off to the level I can't explain.

1

u/prof_devilsadvocate3 Jun 05 '26

Just like cars..

1

u/xxghostiiixx Jun 06 '26

Choice ha yaar jisko jo lena ha wo lo, and i have seen most people who adopt indie , the dogs somehow become very possessive of the house , and i have an eg my aunt adopted a rescued indie(his mother and siblings died in a highway) and man the dog has a temper, my aunty tried everything, from dog trainers to putting cone but that guy won't stop biting people (he doesn't bite only 4 people -my aunty, uncle , cousin and driver) rest every one would get shredded if went near him. So yeah hard pass, i would rather get a golden retriever that is friendly with everyone

1

u/AgencyQuiet9559 Jun 06 '26

Agaye phirse veg wale virtue signaling karne. Chup chaap ghaas kha.

1

u/MR_2POSITIVE Jun 06 '26

Everything was right except your last line about non veg n all.

Being mindful and focusing on balance is much Better thing than being Maniac.

Grow up, eating non veg is not a bad thing at all. Its a personal choice . You don't wanna eat, good . But stfu about others food choices.

1

u/LordofPvE Jun 07 '26

Idk about dog lovers or animal lovers you talk about. But there r some who can't adopt everyone they come across. You have to start with rich fellows and change their mindset n ofc arresting breeders as well

1

u/fatherisadouchbag Jun 08 '26

do you drink milk?

1

u/Plea-8859 Jun 08 '26

Of course, I do. Its the land of Sanatan Dharma where we pray to cow, drink it's milk and even pour milk and ghee on Jyotirilingas. Cow dung is also very essential. Gau-Mata ki Jai.

1

u/fatherisadouchbag Jun 08 '26

Then you can not claim superiority over people who eat non-veg food

1
