General Support Start minimized how to?

KDE, wayland. How can I make OpenRGB minimized/exit on startup? Tried --startminimized that did not work. Tried settings - Start at login: Start Minimized. Did not work either. Tried the KDE window special settings, nope.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Edit: After deleting the KDE configuration files, Window rules work. Why, who knows...

General Support Bluetooth headset is acting weird - codec issues

I have a Yealink headset and I have to do a weird dance with it every day.

Whenever I connect it to the machine it makes sound for a split second and then gets put to Inactive Cards where it says its 'Off', stull connected on bt. I can then choose from mostly 2 codec options, MSBC and CVSD. I say mostly because both of these are headset codecs but some times I get 2 High Fidelity playback codecs, SBC and SBC-XQ.

The headset is obviously thinking Im in a call on CVSD nad MSBC because any noise will make it remind me I've got my mic muted. If I join, then leave an actual voice chat, the card gets turned to Off again.

I have no idea what's going on. Any tips?

SOLVED Should I give EndeavourOS bootloader?

Post image

Hey everyone! I am planning to dual boot arch linux and EndeavourOS soon, and just to be clear, i am using systemd-boot to boot arch linux currently, but then while checking out https://endeavouros.com/ I saw the option that said i could choose my bootloader, or I could just not install a bootloader, and add endeavourOS to an exxisting bootloader. So i was wondering, can i add arch linux AND endeavourOS to rEFInd, which i will be later installing?

Tiling WM Extraordinary; it consumes only 1.5 gigs at idle: End4 not celestia

when I new to linux, and EOS as my first distro, I was thinking if installing dotfiles will consume more RAM than on windows at idle.

I was so wrong.

I started with Kde plasma, loved the features.. then went onto gnome-loved the minimalism and gestures.

but after that youtube recommended me a tutorial of installing end4 on eos, i saw his tutorial and started preparing for end4..

when I was running the script my laptop just froze because my laptop only has 8 gb of ram, and end4 installation requires more than that.. I quickly restarted my laptop, added 12 gigs of swap ram.. and then within 10 minues my end4 was ready to explore.

With all the customisations, animations, and everything it only is using 1.5 gb of ram.. which I was so happy with.

additionally what i really like is that, the volume and brightness features which better than kde and gnome, brightness goes below 0% like if i keep tunring it low, it will reach gamma where it dims the screen so much.. i can easily use light theme with it. and volume goes more 100% on this (i always hated these 2 things on windows.)

so if you are looking to try something like this, you should just stop overthing and go for it.

General Support Where can I obtain the last version of eos-update-notifier that actually works, assuming I don't have the old version cached?

Yes, I'm aware that it's deprecated, but it worked until I updated to the latest version recently.

I hadn't used my main PC in a couple of weeks, so up until roughly two days ago, the last time I updated was in late August.

In any case, I already tried using downgrade, but that couldn't find the last working version of eos-update-notifier since it's from the `endeavouros repo, and as such not available in the Arch Linux Archive.

EDIT: Thinking about it, I might have to grab an old ISO and extract the package from that somehow. Yes, I am willing to go that far.

EDIT2: The last working version of eos-update-notifier, at least on my system, was 26-1`. If that's archived somewhere, I'd love to find it.

EDIT3: It looks like the last version isn't dummied out as far as I can tell, but I can't figure out how to actually get it to do something so I think I'm just going to switch to Apdatifier.

I have my doubts about Apdatifier, but I imagine it beats being nagged by messages telling me "eos-update-notifier was removed at 2026-09-01 and is no more supported" (sic)

Discussion Can EndeavourOS run well on a Chromebook with 2GB RAM and 16GB eMMC?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I have an old Chromebook with only 2GB RAM and 16GB eMMC storage, and I’m thinking about installing EndeavourOS on it.

I know the hardware is very limited, so I’m mainly concerned about performance and screen tearing.

If EndeavourOS is usable on this hardware:

Which desktop environment or window manager would you recommend?

Would XFCE, LXQt, or something even lighter be a better choice?

What kind of tasks could I realistically do on this Chromebook?

Would it be usable for web browsing, YouTube, writing, coding, or other lightweight tasks?

How much storage does EndeavourOS realistically need on a 16GB eMMC?

Are there any known issues with graphics drivers or screen tearing on Chromebooks?

Would you recommend EndeavourOS at all, or should I use a lighter distro such as Lubuntu, antiX, MX Linux, Debian, or something else?

My main priorities are performance, low RAM usage, and ideally no screen tearing.

I don’t really care about having a fancy desktop environment.

Has anyone here tried running EndeavourOS on similar low-end Chromebook hardware?

What setup would you recommend?

Discussion EndeavourOS might be better than macOS — and nobody is talking about it?

Post image

In my opinion, EndeavourOS is one of the smoothest Linux distros I’ve ever used.

It feels almost like the macOS of Linux, but it runs incredibly well even on low-end hardware.

I can run EndeavourOS + XFCE smoothly on a Chromebook with only 4GB RAM and 16GB eMMC.

So I’m wondering: can EndeavourOS actually beat macOS in performance and efficiency?

Maybe I’m crazy, but could EndeavourOS become a major Linux distro by 2030?

What do you guys think?

Discussion Why does EndeavourOS + XFCE feel so smooth on my low-end Chromebook?

Post image
59 Upvotes

I’ve tried quite a few Linux distributions on my Chromebook, but I’m honestly surprised by how smooth EndeavourOS with XFCE feels.

The Chromebook only has 4 GB of RAM and a 16 GB eMMC, so I wasn’t expecting much. I’ve tried other distros and desktop environments, but somehow EndeavourOS + XFCE feels noticeably smoother and more responsive.

What makes it feel this smooth?

Is it because of XFCE being lightweight, Arch’s relatively minimal base, the kernel, default services, or something else in the way EndeavourOS is configured?

I’m curious what is actually happening under the hood that makes EndeavourOS + XFCE perform so well on such limited hardware.

Would love to hear from people who understand the technical side of this.

XFCE / Community Just switched to EndeavourOS + XFCE — looking for a complete shortcut list

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone

I recently switched to EndeavourOS with XFCE and I’m still learning my way around the desktop environment.

I’m looking for a complete list of XFCE keyboard shortcuts, including the commonly used ones and the lesser-known shortcuts.

I’d especially like to know shortcuts for window management, workspaces, application launching, terminal, file manager, screenshots, desktop navigation, system controls, and anything else that can help improve my workflow.

If anyone has a complete XFCE shortcut cheat sheet or a list of shortcuts they personally recommend, I’d really appreciate it.

I’m trying to learn as many useful shortcuts as possible instead of relying on the mouse all the time.

Thanks in advance.

XFCE / Community How can I enable Night Light / Night Shift on XFCE?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m using the XFCE desktop environment and I’m looking for the easiest way to enable a Night Light / Night Shift feature, similar to what is available in iOS or Windows.

Basically, I just want the screen colour temperature to become warmer automatically at night to reduce eye strain.

What’s the simplest and easiest method to set this up on XFCE?

Preferably something that can run automatically based on the time of day without requiring much configuration.

Thanks!

General Support Fresh Install of Titan Hard Crashes + Other Issues

No clue why this is happening, I quite literally just installed this today. It happened before I even installed stuff like Steam. Here's a few of the things I didn't install:

Firefox Language pack

Haruna
Okular
Kate
Plasma-Keyboard
plasma printer things I don't remember the name of

I didn't install some other plasma thing, I don't remember the name of it, I think it was some video player?

Also for some strange reason I have to unplug and replug my USB hub before I can click anything on first login, I can move my mouse somehow, just can't click. I had it plugged into a loose USB port on my case though, I switched ports I will update if it's fixed.

General Support Window Tiling that spans two sections automatically

Is there a Window Tiling tool that can make a window span across two divisions when putting it between the two divisions? Just like in PowerToys FancyZones?

No, KZones doesn't do this. Nor the default built-in one in EndeavourOS

GNOME switched to Gnome from kde.. best desktop ever

Post image
0 Upvotes

I recently switched from windows to endevouros with kde plasma as my default DE
i liked actually, so many options/features. endless customisation.. thousands of themes, and widgets from kde store.

but it felt like I'm just spending more time to tune it for me, instead of actually using it.

no doubt Kde plasma is great, but a beginner like me doesn't belong there yet.

I thought lets try Gnome once.

I switched to Gnome, and suddenly my desktop feels smoother than kde.

even though it lacked many features of customization I didn't feel anything missing that will stop me from using it.

all of the apps are in one place, gestures work smoothly, and it also uses less ram than kde plasma.

what do you think of this??

let me know.
