General Support Where can I obtain the last version of eos-update-notifier that actually works, assuming I don't have the old version cached?

Yes, I'm aware that it's deprecated, but it worked until I updated to the latest version recently.

I hadn't used my main PC in a couple of weeks, so up until roughly two days ago, the last time I updated was in late August.

In any case, I already tried using downgrade, but that couldn't find the last working version of eos-update-notifier since it's from the `endeavouros repo, and as such not available in the Arch Linux Archive.

EDIT: Thinking about it, I might have to grab an old ISO and extract the package from that somehow. Yes, I am willing to go that far.

EDIT2: The last working version of eos-update-notifier, at least on my system, was 26-1`. If that's archived somewhere, I'd love to find it.

EDIT3: It looks like the last version isn't dummied out as far as I can tell, but I can't figure out how to actually get it to do something so I think I'm just going to switch to Apdatifier.

I have my doubts about Apdatifier, but I imagine it beats being nagged by messages telling me "eos-update-notifier was removed at 2026-09-01 and is no more supported" (sic)

what DE do you use? because in KDE, there's a widget that does basically the same thing called "Apdatifier"

I am on KDE, so I think I'll give that a try.

Honestly, I just liked the reboot required notifier. Is that not working anymore? Because it doesn't seem to be working on my system.

It still works for me when I perform system updates from the Welcome app.

That's interesting, I haven't tried that. In the past it used to work when I used pacman or yay

it is no longer maintained, maybe https://github.com/Antiz96/arch-update can help your situation

Just gave this a try. Didn't care for it. I just want the old EOS update notifier back. It was faster and it didn't ask to remove "orphan" packages or process .pacnew files.

The last version is useless. The version before actually functioned. I would like to find an archived copy of it.

If you do a yay it will update all packagés of your system so you might get what you want

yay doesn't automatically remind me to update my packages or tell me how many packages I have to update until I run it.

You dont want to upgrade your system ?

Or do Pacman -q name of package ronger your version and compare it to the last one on the official website or just launch a sudo pacman -S name of package to update

You dont want to upgrade your system ?

I do, but only when I need to. It's nice to know when I have a bunch of updates queued vs only a small handful or even none.
