[HerbHoward] 2 days before the Jets game, Austin Booker expressed to Me that he wasn’t happy with his role. He wanted more playing time. In 2 games since Booker has 3 sacks & 4TFLs. Today, I asked if he’d changed his approach. “No. When the snap count goes up, the production goes up.”

[MikeHawk5hp8] Miserable day for Bagent from the film analysis. And all the more validated Ben’s playcalling. Not trusting his OL when the protection is fine. Not going through progression. Missing open receivers. Missing throws. Taking unnecessary sacks. This team badly needs 18 back

Johnson's day after press conferences

I don't know how many people on the sub watch them-- probably not many based upon how many over-reactions there are to quotes tweeted out of context by our shitty beat reporters-- but people really should. They are readily available on the Bears app or Youtube. He's remarkably transparent for a modern coach and the Monday -- or Tuesday-- day after ones after he's watched the film are really illuminating.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0OdDBhSur4

Couple observations from today:

1-- He was pissed. He usually talks way more about things he and his staff need to do better as coaches but he really harped on execution and emphasized how the game did not go as planned. The team is in a for a tough week with the coach.

2--He might be more pissed about Bagent's play yesterday than any meatball in this sub. Without throwing Tyson under the bus directly, it almost sounded like he was personally angry about how he played. As if "I believed in this guy and he played like THAT". He made a comment like " he just didn't make throws like this all summer at camp" when asked about his interceptions and shook his head in a way that wasn't positive at all. So for the Tyson haters, it sounded like little to no chance he plays next week barring Caleb not playing or Chase getting hurt.

3- BTW, Caleb is playing unless the dr's say no. That seemed clear to me.

4-- Gordon is going to be activated this week if he can withstand the "stress test" of practice all week. The issue with him is physical 100%. Can he STAY healthy. But I don't think Shemar Turner is going to be activated. He made a comment like "I guess we have to decide if we're going to activate him in a day or two" which really didn't sound like a ringing endorsement. If he was looking good, I think it would have been more positive. I might be reading something into it but my sense is either he's still hobbled or they don't love what they've been seeing.

[Kevin Fishbain] Bears head coach Ben Johnson said no determination has been made as to which quarterback will take the first snaps Wednesday at practice. Asked if Bagent is still the next man up if Caleb is out, Johnson said, "I think we have three guys that can win games in this league."

[BrendanSugrue] Jaylon Johnson’s completion percentage allowed by year. 2020: 56.4% 2021: 59.7% 2022: 58.8% 2023: 55.2% 2024: 66.1% 2025: 72.7% 2026: 83.3%* He’s been trending down for quite some time but this is as bad as it gets.

Just want to toss in as well; in the first five games of the season Johnson has 15 receptions allowed for 309 passing yards and a 118.8 passer rating when targeted, and 16.7 yards per catch.

Anyone else genuinely just depressed the day after a loss to the Packers

Someone please talk me off the ledge.

Usually when the Bears lose I can brush it off and go on with my life, but losing to the Packers is just different

It’s also admittedly a little more personal for me because I come from a family of packers fans (long story) and have been getting absolutely harassed by them + extended family since I was 4 years old, but that fanbase is genuinely just the worst.

Anyone else kind of sick of this shit? I get the team will be fine going forward, but why does it feel like we save our worst performances for the Packer games? This type of loss wasn’t supposed to happen in the Ben era. There is absolutely no reason to lose in that fashion yesterday even with a backup QB

[Courtney Cronin] Ben Johnson on Caleb Williams: "He’s doing a great job progressing and we’ll see when we can make him available to help us win ball games. But he’s itching to get back as soon as he can, which is a good thing, and when we get the green light, we’ll move forward from there."

Colston Loveland

Can someone please explain to me what the deal is with Loveland? He had a great end to last season but has been virtually non existent thus far. There are other teams with mediocre qb play that rely heavily on the te position (Cardinals, Browns)What gives? Is he struggling to get open? Is it a talent issue? If he’s being asked to primarily block why is that the case? Hes supposed to be our most talented position player on offense. This guy should be the safety blanket for any of our qbs.

Bridgeport Bears.

Post image

Hear me out. Mods - feel free to remove if you think this is a low effort post, but I'm pretty convinced this is the plan.

Amtrak says it picked the Canal St yard in Bridgeport back in 2023. In its presentation at UIC this spring, Amtrak says Ishbia came to them in August 2025 wanting the 14th St yard. His company hired the engineers to design the Bridgeport replacement, and he’s putting $125M toward it. Amtrak gets the yard it already wanted, Ishbia gets the riverfront. Everybody wins.

Then six days after that presentation, the Bears bill in Springfield picks up the RREDY amendment: a 40 year property tax freeze for redeveloped rail yards, but only in cities over 2 million people... The sponsor is Kam Buckner.

Kam Buckner was also in the room with Goodell and Pritzker two weeks ago about the Bears.

The Senate’s version of the Bears bill had a stadium authority for Arlington Heights and Chicago. Why Chicago, if the Bears only care about the suburbs and Hammond?

Also, the state owns Rate Field through ISFA, and the Sox lease is up in 2029. It’s the only site in this whole mess that the people in that meeting actually control. Red Line, Dan Ryan, and acres of surface lots you could build a whole stadium district on. Put a dome on it and you’ve got concerts, Final Fours, and a Super Bowl bid, plus restaurants and bars that are open on days that aren’t game days.

So, Ishbia gets the river, the Sox move in 2029, the state needs a tenant, the Bears need somewhere in Illinois, and Bridgeport gets a team back so everyone can say they kept the Bears in Chicago.

So anyone else excited for Sunday?

It seems like a large portion of this sub has given up on the team cuz we’re 3-2 now. Well I personally am excited to see the offense with our star QB. It’s been a long month. I miss the big explosive plays in the run game and passing game. I think we’ll be able to hang points on the falcons. Their defense is really injured and they aren’t as good as the numbers say. They just have really good coaching kinda similar to us.

What do you predict for the final score and who has the biggest game on offense?

We'll Be Ight, Don't Freak Out

I know, I know. Yesterday was so dysfunctional and damn near everything that could go wrong went wrong during that game. But don't panic, they beat an injured Bears team in their home field. I'd be lying if I said that wasn't still embarrassing to watch, I fucking hate losing to those mfs, but at some point, the circumstances gotta matter. Some things were definitely self inflicted such as starting Bagent in the first place then waiting until they were down 31-7 to but Keenum in the game and yes Ben coached poorly yesterday and I'm sure he knows it. But remember, the Bears are 3-2 (Even though we have a potential major trap game next week against the Falcons smh) but Caleb will be back soon and hopefully Monangai isn't out long either and they'll get together. Cause we all know they gotta do it fast since the schedule only gets harder and harder.

[Cronin] Ben Johnson tells @JeffJoniak that Caleb Williams is "going the right way" and reiterates that he didn't see Williams' pregame workout at Green Bay. I imagine Johnson got some indication of how that went by now but he said very little that's different from last night.

[Greenberg]: Bears brought back to earth in Green Bay. Ben Johnson needs Caleb Williams back

Thumbnail

Johnson is now 2-2 against Green Bay. Now that’s amazingly just one win shy of tying the total of the four coaches who preceded him, but this loss should sting nonetheless. He’s not trying to be better than Trestman, John Fox, Matt Nagy and Matt Eberflus. His goals are bigger.

But the notion that Johnson is such a genius that he can win with any ol’ quarterback was proven incorrect Sunday. He needs Williams back ASAP.

Williams did some early morning pregame work as he tries to return from his hamstring injury. After next week’s game in Atlanta, the Bears are at home against New England on a Thursday before a long layoff and a Monday night game in Seattle. You’d assume he’d be back by one of those games. That’s the hope anyway.

In the meantime, the Cult of the Bears Backup QB might want to re-evaluate its beliefs.

This oddly makes me feel a bit better in the sense that there were shots to be taken throughout the game. Ben was dialing up some good stuff. Bagent just didn’t have it. Maybe the moment was too big, maybe he’s incapable, idk, but the route concepts are still there, especially with Caleb’s arm talent.
