An Android smartphone can function as a Network File System Version 3 (NFSv3) server using the open-source "nfsd" ("UNFS3, a User-Space NFSv3 Server") software as a native executable under Termux.
We should be able to change the other two shortcuts too
I don't need lens, not enough that I need it to be immediately available on my home screen. I'd rather be able to customize that to AI mode so I can have a smaller widget and still be able to immediately click on AI mode.

Morocco permanently switched back to GMT time last month, but Google pixels phones. Google weather, and all other Google services still insists on using GMT+1 for Morocco, even when we switch manual to the GMT time zone it creates inconveniences like early google tasks notifications by an hour

Google Calendar Suggestion
Not sure if anyone has brought this up, but you should be able to delete/edit holidays. Example: today is labeled "Columbus Day" in the calendar. People who don't acknowledge this as a holiday should be able to delete it, or change it to Indigenous People's Day.

Google Ads PDE — interview feedback reusable, looking for team-matching advice in India
Hi everyone!
I'm a software engineer in India with around 1–2 years of experience. I recently completed the interview process for an early-career Product Deployment Engineer (PDE) role within Google's Ads organization.
I cleared the technical rounds and Googliness, followed by an additional informal conversation with a senior leader. Although the conversation went well, I was ultimately not selected for the original opening because another candidate was a closer fit.
My recruiter has confirmed that my previous interview feedback can be reused for other suitable opportunities. I've been looking for relevant openings, but the original listing is no longer available, and I'm trying to figure out the most effective way to find another team with headcount.
I'd really appreciate advice from anyone familiar with Google's PDE hiring or who has been through team matching:
- What's the best way to identify gTech Ads/PDE teams that are actively hiring at the early-career level?
- Is it worthwhile to reach out directly to PDE managers or gTech Ads leaders on LinkedIn?
- Are there particular Ads technical-solutions or measurement teams worth exploring?
- Has anyone successfully found another team after completing interviews for an initial opening? What approach worked for you?
I'm still very interested in joining Google and would appreciate any practical advice or pointers to relevant teams. Thank you!

Can anyone explain the bad design decisions
I have to rant about YouTube design choices. They make zero sense to me. In a world full of obsession over optimization, why the hell can’t I select normal search filters? When im on a channel page, why can I only sort by newest, oldest and most popular? Why can’t I select a specific date range? Or search for a keyword. On that note, why does the search engine has to be filled with recommendations that has nothing to do with the search? Isn’t there an entire “home” page for that? Lastly, who asked for YouTube to auto dub and auto translate every non English video? I can’t even find an option to turn that off.

Google Gemini's highly intrusive model
I do not know about the rest of the world, but in the EU, Google gives me the option to allow humans to review my chats with Gemini or turn it off completely, losing history and features like home device control. Google does not provide a middle-ground option to disallow human reviews; if I have a history, it will be reviewed by humans. Turning it off and deleting history does not retrospectively delete history with Google either, as they apparently keep their own copy for three years.

Weather alert - Do better, Google
I'm located in Southern California and I've received two weather/storm-related alerts today. NWS has indeed issued alerts about the expected impact of Tropical Storm Rachel. But that's not what Google is surfacing for me.
Clicking on the alerts shows me information on Hurricane Isaias, which is effectively across the country from me. Not to take away from the importance of alerts for people in the path of Isaias, but this is not directly relevant to me or the weather expected in my area. Google should be able to - on a page that indicates a California flood watch - at least show me info from my state.
