Pixel 8 is god awful slow
Has anyone else been experiencing this lately? Even simple things lag, like watching YouTube videos, opening the keyboard, or sending a text message. Speech-to-text takes forever, too. I have plenty of storage space available, so that's not the issue.
This has me considering jumping ship to Samsung or something. I've noticed the Pixel lineup getting worse and worse over the years. The Pixel 4 XL was amazing.
At this point, it feels like I'm using a prepaid Android phone rather than a premium device.
I've tried Googling solutions, and I even cleared the cache and data for Google Play Services, but that didn't help. I restart my phone at least once or twice a day, and while that temporarily fixes things, the lag comes back within an hour or so.
Seriously, what happened to the Pixel lineup?

If I want Google Gemini to make a Reminder, it's an absolute fucking nightmare and this company is scummy trash.
So these are the past 4 interactions I've had with my new Google Gemini assistant.
1) Set reminder 1a) I can't set reminders. You need to enable this feature which is about image generation.
I wanted to complain about that being the case and wanted the exact wording so I ask it again
2) Set reminder 2a) Reminder set
Now I know it didn't set a reminder because I didn't give it any details. I wanted to see what it did.
3) Open Reminders 3) Okay, I've opened your reminders
Absolutely nothing happened here, so I asked it again
4) You didn't open my reminders, open my reminders 4a) I can't directly open apps on your phone.
What the FUCK IS GOING ON. Fuck this piece of shit. Anyone defending Gemini is a shill. This is a nightmare user experience and if you say it isn't you're a fucking liar.

Temporary Bluetooth Absolute Volume Fix
Hi all! I'm among many users who are very unhappy with the removal of the Bluetooth Absolute Volume toggle under Developer Options. I personally have a Pixel 10 with Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds and the volume would be randomly between absolute and not absolute whenever I connected. In the interest of protecting my eardrum I did some digging around and found a fix to disable BT absolute volume via Poweramp Equalizer and Shizuku. So far it has been pretty stable when I use YT Music and hopefully it will stay consistently disabled until Google fixes it (or not).
Huge credit to the devs of Shizuku and maxmp, dev of Poweramp for releasing this feature.
Disclaimer: Shizuku grants apps advanced developer-level permissions, so only use it with apps you completely trust to avoid breaking your system or risking your data. If you're apprehensive about using Shizuku, I'm afraid this fix is not for you.
Overview: you will be installing a Poweramp EQ beta APK and using Shizuku to grant Poweramp the permission to disable absolute volume.
If you are unfamiliar with Shizuku, you can download and install the APK from here: https://github.com/rushiranpise/Shizuku-Next and follow the in-app instructions to get it running. I'm not sure if other forks of Shizuku would work, this was forked from thedjchi's fork which was of the original RikkaApps package. I was previously using Shizuku+: https://github.com/thejaustin/ShizukuPlus which could grant Shizuku permissions fine, but the PowerAmp beta would refuse to detect it even though I granted it permission. If you're using another Shizuku fork, YMMV.
Next, go to the Poweramp forum and download this beta build APK of Poweramp Equalizer: https://forum.powerampapp.com/files/file/103-powerampequalizer-build-1033-uniapk/ (VERIFY THAT IT IS BUILD 1033). Install the APK, then open Shizuku, make sure the Shizuku service is started, go into the Apps list and grant permission to Poweramp.
Finally open Poweramp, make sure to follow its in-app prompts to disable battery optimizations and whatnot. Look for the Settings menu, then go to Equalizer > Direct Volume Control (DVC). In this menu, you want to ENABLE: Direct Volume Control, DVC for Bluetooth, Allow DVC via Shizuku and DISABLE: No DVC for Bluetooth Absolute Volume.
Enjoy your disabled BT absolute volume again! Once again I'm not a dev for any of the apps, huge huge credit to maxmp, Rushi and co. for saving my eardrums and me from constant guesswork whenever I put in my buds.

Pixel 10 Pro XL won't stay connected to Windows 11 via Bluetooth — Phone Link not working
I switched from an iPhone 16 to a Pixel 10 Pro XL running Android 17, and Phone Link won’t connect properly to Windows 11.
Bluetooth connects for a few seconds, then disconnects. This happens on two laptops. Bluetooth works normally with other devices, such as headphones.
Enabling Bluetooth tethering and disabling calls and media audio keeps the connection stable, but Phone Link still shows "We couldn't finish setting things up."
I’ve tried:
Resetting Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
Re-pairing both devices.
Clearing Link to Windows’ cache and storage.
Repairing and resetting Phone Link.
Restarting everything.
Contacting Microsoft Support.
Microsoft suggested the issue may be on the Pixel’s side. I’d prefer not to factory reset it.
Has anyone experienced this with the Pixel 10 series or Android 17? Is there a known fix?

Bluetooth issues on Pixel 11 Pro XL
I guess I also noticed on my Pixel 10 Pro XL but not as bad.
I have a medical device (dexcom) and it seems more often than not it tells me it cannot get a signal. Sometimes flipping Bluetooth on/off or restarting my phone will fix it temporarily.
I also noticed my car occasionally doesn't connect and I have to restart my phone.
Does anyone else have intermittent Bluetooth issues and any fixes that may have worked? Is it possible my phone is bad?
I doubt resetting my phone would fix it and also the hassle of setting up work stuff, I'd like to avoid it.

Bug?
My phone is always on 80% 🔋 limit.. yesterday after work I put my phone on charge as usual.
In the evening I said to myself "I've not rebooted my phone in a while best I do. Unplugged it, rebooted it and the battery is now 100%.... So before reboot 🔋 = 80% after reboot 🔋 = 100%
I plugged it in again cause I figured it'll fix it but nope. The 80% limit was still on. This morning it was at 94%, meaning it was discharging.
Is this normal or did I mess something up?

Issue with delayed/not working notifications on mobile data
Device: Pixel 11 Pro XL, Unlocked, Purchased from US Google Store
Security update: October 5, 2026
Play System Update: September 1, 2026
Carrier: AT&T
Previous Device: Pixel 10 Pro XL. Transferred to P11PXL on initial setup
Other devices: Pixel 11 Pro Fold (no issues whatsoever). All notifications work as intended on both wifi and 5g.
Issue description: Originally noticed that I was missing Whatsapp calls, SMS messages, Google Chat messages and other notifications when not on wi-fi. For instance, someone would call me on Whatsapp and I wouldn't receive any notification until eventually a missed call notification would appear. Google Chat messages would arrive minutes later or not at all until back on wifi or airplane mode toggled on and off.
I confirmed the above behavior by keeping both devices side by side while not on wifi and waiting for a notification to arrive e.g. Google Chat. On the Fold, notifications came every time, on time. On the 11PXL, no notification until either opening the app, toggling airplane mode on and off, or joining wifi.
Steps I've taken to try and resolve the issue:
- Disabled Adaptive Connectivity
- Disabled Adaptive Battery
- Deleted Transferred eSim and re-added fresh eSim
- Deleted and reinstalled apps that weren't properly notifying
- Enabling high priority notifications for specific contacts in specific apps
- Allowing unrestricted background data for specific apps
- Allowing Unrestricted mobile data usage for specific apps
- Perform a speed test on 5g to ensure that mobile data was connected. 100mb down/up without issue. Can stream 1080p with no buffering or skipping.
- Ensured that all system apps, play store apps, security and play system updates were installed.
- Ensuring that "notification cooldown" is not toggled on
- Ensuring that "mute notifications" is not enabled on my Pixel watch 5
At this point, short of factory resetting or RMAing the device, I'm at a loss for things to try. Any thoughts or suggestions would be super helpful.
I've had every Nexus and Pixel device to date and I find it absurd that in 2026 this type of thing is still an issue.

No full-screen in landscape mode on my Pixel in Google Maps
Hey, I’ve noticed the camera cutout in landscape mode is showing up as grey.
Honestly, I expected better polish from Google on their own hardware. It’s happening in Google Maps and Chrome. Is this a known issue?
Device: Pixel 11 Pro, but had the same issue with my pixel 10

Can't stop Clock app screen saver from overriding System Screen Saver
Hi everyone,
I'm having a frustrating issue on my Pixel 11 Pro running Android 17 and could use some help.
I set up my custom Screen Saver via Settings > Display & touch > Screen saver. However, whenever I plug my phone in to charge, the Clock app's built-in screen saver completely takes over instead of the system screen saver I configured.
The main issue is that inside the Clock app settings, there are only options to switch between analogue/digital and toggle the "dim screen for dark rooms" option. I can't turn off the screen saver in the app.
Has anyone else run into this issue? Is there a hidden permission, default setting or something like that?
Thanks!

Pixel 11 Pro - Standby drain fix
Hy folks,
If anyone has a Pixel 11 Pro,
and set up the device by transferring old settings from their previous mobile device, and your batt. is now draining significantly more than usual—especially noticeable during stand-by (also high over night drain) —there is a solution.
At least for me, it worked like magic, even though I had heard about this fix before and didn't believe it. You need to perform a factory reset on the device and set it up as new without transferring old settings from your previous phone.
All of a sudden, the stand-by drain is great and the overall b. life is excellent—better than on the Pixel 10 Pro. Meanwhile, on the beta (especially QPR3), the stand-by drain was terrible.
Standby drain (mixed wifi6/4G/5G )
BEFORE (setup from backup)
Stable - 2.5 %/h ( overnight 1.1/h)
QPR2 beta 6 - 2.5-3 %/h ( overnight 1.3/h)
QPR3 beta 1 - 2-3.5 %/h (overnight 1.4/h)
NOW (**setup as new**)
Stable - **1.4 %/h (overnight 0.43/h)**
Btw, October security patch, September Google play.
Just informatively,
in case anyone else is having bat. issues like I did.
✌️ Peace

confused about photo storage
when I go to setting in my phone I have plenty GB of storage and my photos don't take up many.
when I go to my photo album It says I'm almost out of storage on Google.
I used to have Apple so Icloud was the same as my phone photos.
with my pixel it seems to be 2 different storage systems??
sorry if this is confusing I'm trying my best to explain
so my question is am I running out of storage specifically on Google and if so why is my phone storage separate?

Unresponsive Pixel 8 motherboard failure in under 2 years — is this a known issue?
I wanted to share my recent experience with my Pixel 8 to see if anyone else in the community has run into this failure mode or found a viable resolution.
Our household has been loyal to the Pixel line across four different devices over the years, but my experience over the last few weeks has been deeply frustrating.
The Hardware Issue:
My Pixel 8—which has been kept in a protective case with zero drops, no water contact, and no physical damage—suddenly went completely unresponsive and refused to power on at all. It didn't start with minor glitches; it simply became a brick overnight well within a normal two-year lifespan.
The Diagnostic Runaround:
- I took it to an authorized walk-in repair center, and the technicians confirmed that the motherboard itself had failed and that they could not service it locally.
- Because the phone won't power on, Google’s Extended Repair Program (which covers display issues like vertical lines) won't apply, as the program strictly requires the phone to turn on.
- Between diagnostic fees, travel, and logistics trying to get the unit inspected across service partners, I ended up spending around $400 out of pocket just trying to find a viable repair path.
The Store Inventory Problem:
Because I couldn't be left without a working device, I tried to purchase a replacement through the Google Store using an eligible 20% discount code I had. However, the Pixel 10 Pro was repeatedly out of stock on the store website. With inventory unavailable and a strict deadline for a working phone, I had to purchase the replacement at full retail price through a third-party retailer, leaving the promotional code completely unusable.
Now I am left with a completely pristine, two-year-old dead phone, roughly $400 in diagnostic and travel expenses, and an out-of-warranty quote that costs nearly the price of a refurbished unit.
Has anyone else experienced an abrupt motherboard failure like this on a Pixel 8? If you hit a wall where local centers couldn't service the board and the extended program wouldn't take a dead device, were you able to get an out-of-warranty accommodation or find a reliable repair solution?

NFC/Mobile Key issues with Hilton and Marriott app
Ever since updating to Android 17 on my new Pixel 11 Pro, Mobile Key in both the Hilton Honors and Marriott Bonvoy apps has been wildly unreliable.
It might work once right after I check in or set it up, but after that, every attempt fails at the door. It just hangs on "sending key", the lock does nothing, or the app gives an error, forcing me to haul my bags down to the front desk for physical key cards anyway. On my older Pixel 7 with an earlier Android version, it worked without issue.
Anyone else running into this on Android 17 / Pixel 11? Is this a broader Bluetooth / UWB key permissions bug, or is there a specific settings tweak to get it to stay working?

Just me, or did the recent update make your Phones unusable too?
Recent Pixel 10a user here. I actually bought this phone a month ago as a stopgap after my old phone sht the bed and I had to have a working phone for a long holiday abroad. Anyway, bought the 10a since it was on sale and was pretty happy actually until recently. However, since the new update I basically cannot use this phone. I'm talking several seconds to open Apps, Lags and Audio bugs when watching any type of video, keyboard lagging behind, sometimes even spotify is audio-lagging when running in the background and the screen turned off. Even as I am typing this, my phone is lagging like crazy. Is this happening to anyone else? If you were able to fix it, how? Restarting doesn't change anything for me.

Losing my mind transferring RCS/MMS images to new phone
My Pixel 7 died and I am trying to restore my rcs/mms/sms messages on my other phone (Pixel 9, Android 17) from a Google One backup. I have a different phone number now but from what I read that should not matter for restoring. The backup still shows under other devices as "Google Pixel 7 · 4 days ago" with SMS & MMS messages: 3 GB so I know the images are in the backup.
- Texts and call history restored fine
- Every MMS/RCS picture shows "restoring" and never downloads
- Left it overnight on Wi-Fi and charging but no change
I tried this a few times and even tried the Android Switch app manually on my new phone but nothing seems to restore the images. I'm losing my mind here and have lost a lot of faith in Google One and the backups so any help is appreciated.

Personalize a screen
Pixel 10
I have the google news app that launches from an icon. I customized choices there, it work ok, there is some leakage, and choices were not accurate, but for the most part it is not a problem.
There is also a news feed page to the left of the home screen. The title just says "Google" and has my g-account icon in the upper right. Under those is a scrollable marquee of small cards for weather, stock market, sunrise/sunset. Below that there is a series of news headlines with images and sources. These used to be good news stories but lately it is all videos and entertainment/celebrity crap that I have no interest in.
What is this widget called?
Can it be customized?
If not, can I turn it off from display?

Where my 12gb pixel folks at
Question! I have the Pixel 9a. It has 8gb of ram. As my phone ages the ram usage also has a similar fate. I understand that free'd up RAM is essentially useless and its better for app switching. However, since AI has plauged our phones I've noticed in recent updates my phone is starting to struggle with multiasking. Ram is constantly used up.
I do not game or video edit. But I commonly do two things: video call on Telegram + watching a movie with my gf. And doomscroll instagram with a youtube video in the background (I have premium).
Since I've owned this phone. Ive had no issues. No performance problems. Nothing. Smooth, and buttery performance. But now the recent updates are causing a lot of fps drops. And just this week I had my first crash.
Im starting to think its thanks to AI .. now I could reset my phone and hope for the best. But im thinking I could trade in my Pixel and either get a used Pro Fold or any Pixel XL. Anything with 12gb of RAM. I used to rock Samsung but honestly, despite how a little buggy Pixels can be, I do love the software experience and some features like call screening!
(Fyi my battery health is at 98%)
Thank you for reading my long winded post. My question to those that have Pixels with 12gb of ram. Do you experience any significant fps or performance drops on your device when you are multitasking ?
