Hey guys, i got this flashlight on a flee market and want to know two things:
Does anyone know anything more about this flashlight? It runs on 2 D-cells, has 'Philips HALOGEN' on the tailcap and 'Philips W-GERMANY' imprinted into the side
I'd like to run it on something other than D-cells, what cell would be best to substitute the alkalines?

I researched this flashlight before pulling the trigger. Paid 160$ for the UV version in black. One of the selling point was a power bank feature which can reverse charge connected devices with the flashlight. I planned to use to charge my Garmin watch when I'm out in the nature. Well, the flashlight came and I enjoyed using it but when I plugged in my phone to charge, it didn't. I contacted the seller and he told me that apparently they removed this powebank feature from the Chinese market version. The ad didn't mention that and when I try to search I can't find anything. Can this be true ? I opened the box which was sealed and everything looked new. Is the seller lying or is there more to it ? What would you do ?

I bought their Transcend 3000 headlamp and have been using it for hiking during summer trips. I haven't used it for more than 2 months and was gentle with it throughout its use. Much to my surprise, the clip that holds the lamp isn't what I expected from something so pricey. I was enjoying the view on a mountain. I didn't notice one of the clips that held the lamp had broken off at some point during the hike... The headband/clip was something I never imagined being a failure point. I bent over to look at a spider, and I guess I stood up straight too fast and hit a tree branch and then poof. The lamp disengaged from the headband due to a missing clip and enjoyed an express trip to the bottom of the mountain... I didn't have a backup, so I had to use my phone until morning light. I've been using Nebo for YEARS, and I think this might be a sign that I should try something else. Any replacement suggestions, or is there a brand that I can't go wrong with?

Hi All. Looking for a small light that has an accessory diffuser dome that can be put on it in order to put out a 360° light.

Slight comparison between my new flashlights
FFL X1S PHAROS ASTRAL ALUMINUM FFL5009R 5000K
CONVOY M21H MAO WHITE XHP 70.3 HI R9050 5000k
The X1S has a tighter beam and a rosier tint. I like the one on the convoy better honestly, but the X1S is still a nice beam.
The finish on both of them are like the opposite of each other, one is completely reflective finish while the other is full matte finish and they are both very nice, the only thing I don't like is that the convoy's threads were super screechy before adding some grease to the threads.
That's all I need to say about these flashlights, very nice lights that I will probably be everyday carrying with a floody X4Q COMET or the S21D, I will soon upload a comparison between those two as well, with different CCTs.
Thanks for reading.
Edit: Added the CCT on the Convoy

Hi, I have several of these units on my Optivisors that I use for art conservation every day. It’s extremely helpful as is, but I’d like it to have high CRI daylight balanced LEDs instead so I can use it for color matching. Can someone here do this for me? Paid work, of course! Bonus points for a better wire and battery pack situation.

Woke up at 6am for work, to find a power cut in the whole area.
Rovyvon a28 on my bedside cabinet and oclip olight in my bag have come to the rescue.
Think this means I should buy more, doesn't it?

I'm super bummed about it. I really enjoyed fiddling with the Anduril 2 UI and the patina the copper was getting.
Any recs for a similar light?

Hello r/flashlight !
Having seen some recent glowing reviews and already having a good experience with the SK-03 I just picked up an SK-06 which is already proving itself useful, but I'm really struggling with the charging.
In short, when using the provided USB-C to C cable, it always seems to default to discharging, regardless of if I have it plugged into power bank, wall socket or computer. This makes bringing a power bank along to charge it completely pointless as it always ends up just draining itself back into the bank - before we even consider the concern that it's dumping power into things that are not designed to receive it.
On the other hand if using the SK-03's USB-A to C cable, it seems to default to charging regardless of what it's plugged into.
Since Loop didn't provide any means to tell the flashlight which mode to enter when plugged in, I was hoping perhaps other SK-06 owners, or owners of any other bidirectionally charging flashlights may be able to clarify why this happens or if there's a way to change it since it feels not only redundant having to carry round an A to C cable just for the SK-06, but also somewhat dangerous given that plugging the C to C cable into the wrong device could end up frying a port.

What could be causing this flicker and buzzing sound when torch is turned on? Happens at random and mostly when torch is cold and fully charged. Torch is only few months old. Should I send it for warranty service? Thanks

I’d heard about this flashlight and was curious to try it out to see what made it so special. What’s more, it’s especially meaningful to me that the driver for it was designed by a Ukrainian. So when the opportunity to buy one unexpectedly came up, I didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger. The experience turned out to be all the more interesting, considering that I already own an M44.
As for the beam, there’s not much to say—since everyone’s probably seen the 10507. The brightness isn’t surprising by today’s standards, but it’s still plenty of light. I’m not quite used to the UI yet, but so far I really like it, especially those smooth transitions. The body is a real treat. It’s small—no, you got that wrong—it’s even smaller. Right now it doesn’t look as fancy because it lacks a steel bezel and a modern button, but it feels much better than the new M44. Especially since it has four batteries instead of three, with almost the same body diameter. The knurling on the body is very grippy, and I wish more manufacturers would make it like this nowadays. The previous owner installed a GITD insert under the glass, and it looks great—almost like an AUX. In conclusion, I get the impression that it’s still relevant today. Add a steel bezels and higher brightness, and even by today’s standards, it would be a fantastic flashlight. It’s a shame Hank don’t make it anymore. I’m very happy to own this little piece of history. I’m very glad I stumbled upon this subreddit and signed up here to talk about flashlights. Thank you dudes.

I'm in Canada, and live in the country, I'm looking to upgrade my five d cell non led flashlight that I use to check out the house when my wife says she heard something.
I'd like a compact single hand flashlight that has an intense flash bang like initial on cycle. Is this a thing? Or do I just get the 10k lumen huge flashlight from Costco?

When it comes to the green light thing, maybe I don't get it... I'm not that big of a fan of it but that's not what I'm reviewing today. I'm reviewing the actual light and I'll tell you what: even though it comes out green, this thing is bright. It's definitely way too bright to look at in the beam for sure and I mean that pretty literally. It's made extremely well. It's very solid feeling. I love that it just has an on and an off function. Nothinelse. I am so tired of all the multiple modes that nobody uses that come on the majority of flashlights these days. I have probably 35 flashlights. Prior to them I was a Streamlight fanboy. I'm just quickly becoming disillusioned with Streamlight and UltraFire is right there to pick up the pieces for me. I probably have 5or 6 UltraFires now. I even got a green one lol, first time for everything...

I made a post last week with some first impressions of the Lumintop Tiger Vintage. In short, most of the quirks of the light (and there are several big ones) make sense when compared to true vintage lights, and it looks sweet.
The big issue is Lumintop's staggering choice of a 5300K, 60 CRI LED in a vintage-styled light. I couldn't let that stand. Once I pulled the MCPCB out of the light, I decided I was stuck with a 5050 footprint. The MCPCB is very thick and has a unique shape, along with both wire pads being on one side, so a generic won't fit without a lot of extra work. I ended up going with an SFT-40 at 3000K and 95 CRI.
Here's the process:
https://imgur.com/a/lumintop-tiger-vintage-mod-xKU5mzh
All in all, this wasn't the hardest mod I've done, but it was pretty fiddly working in the narrow-but-deep head and soldering wires to such a beefy MCPCB. I'd say pretty similar to working in a Convoy M1. The biggest issue is just that 3v in a 5050 footprint doesn't leave you with very many LED options, and a 3535 conversion would need to to do some shimming and shaping on an MCPCB.

Picked up an M21K with the LHP73B 4000K to see what all the fuss was about as I kept seeing this light mentioned quite a bit.
The first thing that impressed me was the camo finish - very nicely done and definitely "feels" much more expensive than the price tag would suggest.
I put a Molicel P50B in and went out to test it against one of my favourites - the Acebeam L35 2.0 which this light is strikingly similar to.
While the more expert minded members have already reviewed the light in-depth and these reviews are a much more reliable source of specs and outputs, this light nonetheless seriously impressed me.
Judged by sheer light output alone, this thing was more impressive than the L35 2.0
While the L35 2.0 has somewhat better build quality, is lighter and a more "end of times" flashlight, the M21K would be my go to every time for an evening walk, or if I just want to blast full power and giggle to myself. The beam profiles are very similar, with the M21K having a fatter hotspot which also manages to be brighter. The 4000K CCT is also much more pleasing to the eye than the cool beam of the Acebeam. The 4000K version of the L35 2.0 would negate this point somewhat, however.
There is also the issue of price, with the L35 2.0 being more than 2x the price of the M21K.
If I need to go into the mountains or dark woods in an emergency on a stormy night I'll grab the L35 2.0 but for everything else it'll be the Convoy M21K.
Beamshot 1: M21K 20A turbo.
Beamshot 2: L35 2.0 turbo (70.3 HI 6500k)
The treeline in the distance is approximately 110 meters away.

As I saw posted from another, I was in the area and checked out the tunnel. Awesome experience, I would suggest, definitely had the brightest flashlight 😎

Emitters are Sft25r 6500k and domed 519a 2700k. Hanks lights are my favorite lights.

The gray Convoy S3 with SFT40 3000k (lower right) was the most fun in the tree tops, but I didn't have a true thrower in the mix. (Wurkkos TD01C Mao Stone on the way.)
Wurkkos FC11C in 519A 4000k was what I handed my partner.
Hadn't had the red Manker E05 ii out in a while (middle right). Good beam, feels good in the hand. UI is a little clumsy but good enough for kids.
Didn't bring the tripod for the CL01 and putting it at mustard-bottle level on the table outside didn't quite do the trick.
