Gaming PC Budget around $3K USD including 2 monitors.

Good Afternoon, I need help building a pc for gaming and electrical engineering programs/work. I am willing to spend a bit more so it will last and perform well but don't want to buy unnecessarily expensive prts where possible.

  • New build or upgrade?
    • New build, this will be my first time building a PC.
  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse?
    • None. I'm starting from scratch.
  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
    • Primarily gaming, alongside everyday use and work.
    • I'd like good gaming performance with the ability to play modern games at high settings.
    • Games: Valorant, Minecraft, CSgo, Sea of Theives
  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
    • United States
  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
    • I haven't chosen a monitor yet. I'd ideally like a good-quality monitor suitable for 1440p gaming.
  • Budget range?
    • My absolute limit is about £3k, ideally would like £2.5K
    • I'm flexible with my budget and happy to spend more where worthwhile, but I don't want to waste money unnecessarily.
    • I'm prioritizing aesthetics, quality and ease of assembly over finding the absolute cheapest components as I'm so tired of searching and comparing, I've hit a wall with it all.
  • WiFi or wired connection?
    • I'd like both Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity, as well as Bluetooth.
  • Size/noise constraints?
    • I've chosen the HYTE Y70 Touch Infinite case, so I'm happy with a larger PC.
    • I'd prefer it to run relatively quietly, with good airflow and cooling.
  • Colour/lighting preferences?
  • Any other specific needs?
    • I'm a complete beginner, so ease of assembly is important.
    • I'd prefer components that work well together without complicated wiring or multiple RGB controllers.
    • I'd appreciate advice on compatibility, fan placement, airflow and whether I'm missing any necessary cables or accessories.

Blender and Video Editing

Edit-- Hi All! Figured I should add some general info before diving into the dirty deets.

I've been making videos for fun for the last 10 years ago and they are typically stop motion animations and more recently I've been doing compositing and some additional animation in blender and then compositing in Adobe suite and music in garageband and soubdly. I've been using a macbook pro for this since about 2011 and it is long past time to upgrade to an actual PC since it is getting slower pretty much every day.

I'm not a PC gamer so don't really need to have any extra speed for that, however I am definitely committed to building whatever meets those needs.

Thank you for the suggestions and taking the time to give this some thought!

Urgently need (most of) a new computer

I'm running on a mix of kinda outdated and very outdated hardware. In the past I'd been more on top of updating parts as needed but employment has been spotty recently and I've fallen way behind. Here's my current system:

I'm running into issues with my CPU temps hitting near 100c when idling even after cleaning out everything, reapplying thermal paste and making sure everything is seated properly. Rather than trying to diagnose further, I'm going to just bite the bullet and get some new parts. I'm starting a new gig very soon as a video editor so I'd like to see if I can get all of this from the nearest Micro Center ASAP.

New build or upgrade?

Significant upgrade, I will be keeping my monitors, graphics card, and storage, and ideally my power supply unless someone advises me otherwise. Also all my peripherals (KB +M, camera, etc) are all fine for now.

From what I can tell I will need: CPU, MOBO, RAM, Heatsink/cooling, new case, and maybe I'm forgetting something else.

Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

  • Graphics: EVGA Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 TI
  • Display : ASUS ROG PG279Q and a Wacom Cintiq 22HD
  • Power Supply: Corsair TX750
  • Storage: Samsung SSD 870 1TB (+ additional drives)

PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

Gaming (Cyberpunk 2077 is probably the most graphically intensive thing I've played in recent memory), Animation (Maya, ToonBoom, Animate, Moho), Game Dev (Godot, Unreal), Video editing (After Effects, Premiere)

Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors)

USA, close enough to the Tustin, CA Micro Center that I'd like to use them if possible.

Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

none

Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

Ideally $1500ish, but max $2000

WiFi or wired connection?

Primarily wired, would not say no to having Wifi

Size/noise constraints?

Similar size to my current case would be great (~ 21" x 20" x 9"). Quieter is better, I share my home office with my wife.

Color/lighting preferences?

As little lighting/RGB as possible

Any other specific needs?

I've amassed a silly number of drives that I still use, so ideally 4 SATA ports on the mobo

Thanks in advance for any help

Time for a gaming PC upgrade - currently on a 7 year old Lenovo Legion 5 lol

Hello! For starters, I am looking to transition from a laptop to a PC. I previously used the laptop because I was traveling for work and moving every 3-6 months for the past several years but that is no longer the case.

I am not very tech savvy when it comes to all the finer details of computers. I am currently debating whether I should build my own or just get a prebuilt. Any suggestions there would be appreciated...the biggest factor is how much more am I paying to have it assembled for me? I have read through the guides on r/Prebuilts which brought me here.

Anyway, I essentially want something that will be able to keep up with games as they continue to come out for several years to come. This is what I am currently using:

Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics (3.20 GHz)

Installed RAM: 16.0 GB

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU (4 GB)

AMD Radeon Graphics (2 GB)

The PC will used both for gaming and for remote work...games include a wide variety, battlefield 6, valor mortis, tarkov, etc.

  • New build or upgrade? ------ Upgrade
  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? ------ None
  • PC purpose? ------ Gaming, Remote Work, Occasional photo editing...games include battlefield 6, cyberpunk, elden ring, valor mortis, tarkov, etc.
  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? ------ US, microcenter 2 hours away (not ideal unless I can order from them but would be willing to make a drive if the savings justify it).
  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) ------ 2 monitors, not sure about size, resolution, etc...it would be cool to experience games on high graphics...i have always had to turn everything to low and dont think ive ever experienced more than 60fps.
  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations) ------ $1000-2000 (i dont need the best of the best so obviously if there is little difference in quality, im ok with going with the cheaper version- $1500 is probably the sweet spot). I am also not sure if my price range is unrealistic.
  • WiFi or wired connection? ------ WiFi - will eventually be wired but not for a bit.
  • Size/noise constraints? ------ Not sure what this means...obviously I would prefer it to not sound like i have an industrial fan in my room. No size restraints but I dont want some massive machine unless there is a clear benefit? I dont know much about this.
  • Color/lighting preferences? ----- No RGB...just something simple and "elegant" i suppose. I don't care about having a bunch of flashing lights and such.
  • Any other specific needs? ---- Monitor mounts or suggestions? currently using this desk: Amazon.com: FEZIBO Standing Desk 48 × 24 Inch Electric Height Adjustable, Maple | Sit and Stand Up Adjustable Desk, Home Office Computer Desk with 3 Customizable Memory Presets : Home & Kitchen

Hi everyone, would appreciate some insight in building my first PC. I have done some research on the Swedish forum Sweclockers (RAMverket) and used their build tool to create a first draft. Would like to build my own PC to have room for future improvements (and ofc learn how to do it). Thanks!

Thanks in advance all! This will be my first build. I’m currently on a hand-me-down that I’ve had for over a decade. (Nvidia 1650 gtx, 8gb ram, I think a newer cpu though intel i5-8500 something or other….). She still works but is pretty slow and I’m tired of playing on low settings!

Looking to upgrade my pre built *if necessary* for higher quality gaming, streaming, and coding

For context, I bought a dinky little $1,100 pre built PC from Xidax about 2 years ago during a summer job. I like it, but I think with my full time job, it's time to start upgrading to a real PC. I'm waiting for black Friday to hopefully see some deals to start off, but I'd like some help picking out the best but relatively affordable parts.

- New build or upgrade? Upgrade

- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? So IDK much about the PC, I was barely knowledgeable about PC's when I bought it, the only thing I really care to keep is the case lol. But here goes:

XIDAX TENRAI WHITE (case)

XIDAX APPROVED AIR COOLER

PRIME B840-PLUS WIFI

XIDAX 80PLUS GOLD POWER SUPPLY's: 600W

(2x) XIDAX PERFORMANCE DDR5 5600Mhz 8GB

NVIDIA Geforce RTX 5060 8GB

AMD Ryzen 5 7600 6C/12T 5.1GHZ

(6x) Xidax RGB Fans

WINDOWS 11 RECOVERY FLASH DRIVE

XIDAX PERFORMANCE NVME M.2 SSD: 2 TB

This is the specs listed from Xidax so if not very informative, I apologize

Again, I'm JUST started to upgrade so just some thoughts on what you would start with. Please don't make fun of me, I'm almost completely uneducated in PC life lol.

- PC purpose? Primarily gaming, fps mostly so parts that will focus on that. But plan on starting some game development with friends. And down the line some streaming on twitch

- Purchase country? Near Micro Center? United States, closest center is like 2.5hrs away in MA so if it's really smart to give it a look I can plan a day for the drive. But otherwise if available online I'd opt for those

- Monitors needed? I do have a monitor but only 60hz. Though I do already have $1,500 set aside for everything outside of the PC so if you have recommendations don't include the monitor in the PC budget.

- Budget range? $2,500 for the PC (and again $1,500 for accessories including monitor)

- WiFi or wired connection? Wired connection

- Size/noise constraints? Noise is a non issue, I mean I don't want jet engine but reasonable noise is expected. This is the case I have from Xidax "Tenrai White" Dimension:11.33" (W) * 17.24" (D) * 16.33" (H) Material:0.7mm steel Glass:4mm tempered glass (2H hardness explosion-proof protective film is applied on the glass surface, no need to tear it off when using) Motherboard:ITX / M-ATX / ATX Drive Bay:3.5" HDD*2/2.5" SSD*1 or 2.5" SSD*2/3.5" HDD*1 Cooling Systerm:Top:120mm*3/140*2(optional); Bottom:120mm*3(optional); Side 120mm*3(optional); Rear 120mm*1(optional) Water Cooling: Top:360mm*1 or 280mm*1(optional); Bottom: 360mm*1(optional) Power Supply: ATX≤220mm CPU Cooler:165mm Video Card: ≤420mm Front IO Port: USB3.2 Gen2 Type-C*1 / USB3.0*2 / AUDIO*1+MIC*1(2 in 1) Expansion Solt:7 Weight:19.75LBS

- Color/lighting preferences? Already have the White Case with RGB lighting.

- Any other specific needs? If you could list what you would upgrade first within the budget, no need to upgrade everything right now with my current budget because I plan on continuing the upgrade in the future. I definitely want top notch parts but reasonably priced. Probably don't need to spend the whole budget on a gpu y'know what I mean?

Let me know if I missed anything important to add. Thanks in advance Also I said "if necessary" and IDK even know why. I was thinking "maybe I have a decent enough PC" but I do want to upgrade and know there are MUCH better parts than I have lol so ignore that.

PC purpose?
So i mostly use it for gaming but also some schoolwork, i also want to try new things, like blender, krita, etc, I also use fl studio with my current laptop, but id like a bit more power, i tend to have a lot of stuff open at a time, discord, a couple other programs, and games, i also l ike to stream my games to friends on call, i mostly play pretty light games cause of my current laptop limitations, but some heavier stuff id like would be fortnite, overwatch, rdr2, tlou I & II, Death stranding, e33, pragmata, etc...

Purchase country
Mexico

Monitors needed?
Id like 2 monitors but 1 is fine, 24 inches, 144hz, 1440p

Around 20-25k MXN, (Im thinking of buying this PC in heavy discount and sales times so i can buy better stuff though, lets assume tech is at 20% discount max)

Wifi or wired
Wifi

Color/Lighting
Not really a big fan of RGB, i want something discreet, maybe the keyboard can have lights

Other comments:
I was thinking of getting an asus tuf gaming f16 2025 laptop, but i think i can build a better pc with that same budget, i am a student but not in need of a laptop right now... still, i want something similar or superior in power

Planning to get my first PC ever!

Currently I only have a headset and a mouse. Everything else will be bought new. I usually game a lot on my laptop and would like to get a good pc build with great graphics and RAM. I’m also a physics student so I will use instrumentation softwares. I also like to have After Effects and other video editing softwares on my PC. Here are the specs that I picked out, and a chassis that I really want! I’m in Malaysia and my budget is RM10,000 so this is a bit over the budget for me.. But I’ll save up for it if its really worth it! Everything will be built by the shop I’m buying it from. Price states includes assembly fees. Need help if its worth the price? Thank you in advance.

New build or upgrade? New build

Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) N/A

PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Primarily gaming; Baldur's Gate 3, the upcoming Fable, any of the Bioware games

Purchase country? Near Micro Center? UK/Ireland

Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) I'm a bit clueless with this sort of stuff. Need one monitor, preferably not curved, but not fussy other than that. Something of a decent size

Budget range? (Include tax considerations) £2500-3000

WiFi or wired connection? WiFi

Size/noise constraints? N/A

Color/lighting preferences? Preferably black. Purple or orange lighting would be cool, but not a requirement

Any other specific needs? N/A

New build for about $1500+ USD

I made a post about a year ago but ended up not being able to afford it for various reasons. I now have significantly more money saved just for this. Only caveat is that it has to be (or at least ideally should be) on amazon (whatever isn't used, I can just use it later down the line instead of my store card, especially if purchasing parts for this elsewhere does end up saving money overall.)

The reason I'm making a new post vs using the previous one is in case new hardware has been released that outperforms what was previously recommended, plus having a higher budget.

Posting this on my computer vs phone so sorry if formatting ends up weird. [Aaand..edited for formatting.] The post from then is fairly similar (with minor changes), although I would also like to highlight my recent post that discusses recommendations based on the game I'm currently trying to play.

New build or upgrade?

  • New build

Existing parts or monitors to reuse?

  • These are currently in use on my current (2010) build, so I would still need new cables/equipment while the new build is getting set up.
  • See below for monitors and wifi adapter
  • Harddrive
  • RAM
  • USB port
  • 2 HDMI cables, 1 to HDMI and 1 to Display Port (DP plugging into the tower, not the monitor)
  • Mouse and keyboard are wired
  • VGA cable

PC purpose?

  1. Gaming - play list
    • Red Dead 2
    • Skyrim modded
    • Vintage story modded
    • Cities Skylines
    • Far Cry series
    • Witcher 3
    • Aloft
    • Legend of Khiimori
    • A few examples that I may not play but probably graphics wise would be similar: Icarus, ARK, Valheim, Last of Us, Ghosts of Tsushima, Assassin's Creed, Once Human, SAND Raiders of Sophie, No Man's Sky, FallOut, COD, GTA, Where Winds Meet. I'm very into open worlds and high graphics games.
  2. I'd like to get into programming, 3D sculpting, maybe video editing. [ETA: to clarify, gaming is the main focus. #2 is secondary stuff that I haven't really explored due to limitations with having an old computer.]

Purchase country and nearby microcenter?

  • USA
  • Marietta, GA and Duluth, GA - pretty far but manageable enough

Monitors needed? Currently own the one below, although I'm open to getting a new one so it keeps up with the new build.

  1. PC monitor - cant find the exact store page, as I originally got it from target as refurbished
    • ACER Model number K273
    • Version K273 bi
    • Part number UM.HX3AA.003
    • Mfg date Dec 2021
    • Resolution 1920x1080
    • 74.973Hz
    • 8-bit depth
    • RGB and SDR

Budget range?

  • $1500-2k. I currently have $1142 set aside for this specifically.
  • If it could be closer to $1500, beautiful. However I would like to make sure it can be upgraded later down the line and is more than capable of handling multi-tasking (think gaming + recording, or multiple programs open overall). If it means going closer to $2k, then OK. The store card earns points as I spend, so I can juggle between those to get to that mark.

Wifi or wired connection?

Size/noise constraints?

  • No smaller than 19L x 8W x 17.25H (current build, however I'm NOT reusing the tower)
  • No larger than 23L x 14W (certainly shouldn't be this large; this is just the table it'll be stationed on)
  • I'd like a quiet PC. Doesn't have to be 100%, but I'm AuDHD and don't want anything too loud or with repetitive noises.

Color/lighting preferences?

  • Black case please!! I don't know what variety RGB lights can come in, but the case needs to be black.

Any other specific needs?

  • My PC is auto shutting off whenever I try to game, so it's difficult to see what comes up on task manager while it's running. I did see what it (VintageStory) is using upwards of 13GB of RAM however...my current build only has 16 T-T
  • I am running on an older electrical system. Breaker box was replaced a few years ago and definitely works. Outlets are also "grounded" (3 prongs but can't say what the internal electrical system looks like) but I'd like to not push the limits if possible. As I phrased it in my previous post, "power modesty while meeting the other prerequisites is what I'm looking for." Or power compatibility..whichever works.
  • Not sure if it's needed, but here's an old pchelp post with old specs.
  • [ETA: I was also recommended to look into liquid cooling vs thermal paste, DDR5 for upgrading, and Gen9 CPU. I'm not tech savvy - this was what was recommended by a tech at uBreak after I messed up my CPU recently quq idk what is recommended overall tho.]

Looking for new pc

Very new, would like to have multiple options (not rlly needed)

• New build or upgrade?
New
• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
None
• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
Heavy gaming (such as zzz, Endfield, etc…) and am gonna use it for coding too (cs major), but mostly gaming
• Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors)
United States, not near micro center
• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
Yes, 1 monitor is good enough (I don’t mind more) would like for it to be curved if possible, size doesn’t matter, would like resolution and refresh rate to be considered good enough at least.
• Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
Around $2,000-$2,500 (can go a little higher
• WiFi or wired connection?
WiFi, I can’t do wired connection
• Size/noise constraints?
Not much size constraints but I would love noise constraints, though not really needed.
• Color/lighting preferences?
Prob black for color, would like lighting to be white
• Any other specific needs?
Gotta be comparable.

Up to 1400€ Germany

Ive been asked to build a PC for a Friend who plays Sims and Phasmophobia. Her max price is 2k but I think its way to much for what they need. What are your suggestions.

I was thinking about only giving her 16GB RAM and letting her upgrade later once RAM Prices have gone down.
