Question: Unanswered Why were we ineligible for a refund?

A big part of our MacDonalds app order didn’t arrive tonight, and MacDonalds in-app support told us to contact Uber Eats customer support. Their response was that they are unable to give us a refund due to their policy, however they wouldn’t clarify.

This was missing: Big Arch Burger 1 x large fries Oasis (we received a second come zero and my girlfriend doesn’t like carbonated drinks) No sauces

So not only are we down a major part of the order, we can’t get any of the money back and we don’t even know why that is!

Has anybody encountered this before and known why?

TIA

Unfortunately when uber takes this position there is no explanation or recourse even if they are abjectly in the wrong. You could raise a credit card dispute with your bank for services not rendered etc but I’ve never gone that route

u/BeldakGWF Jun 19 '25

You can do this but they'll ban the account and have been known to try take payment again months later

I don't disagree, I fully agree they should just charge back at this point but alot of people don't realise it leads to a ban and they'll have say X amount in Uber Cash from being an Uber One member

7

u/Pedanter-In-Chief Jun 21 '25

Uber cannot ban you from their service because of a *successful* chargeback; it violates the Ts&Cs with the credit card networks.

Visa takes this VERY seriously and has a complaint line for this (at least in the US). The other avenue to reinstatement is sending a copy of the relevant Ts&Cs section to Uber's legal department with a threat to enforce it -- you're the third party beneficiary of that contract. I was successful in this with a different merchant some years ago.

The fact anyone would be afraid that a scammy company who repeatedly steals from them with zero recourse would ban them is crazy. Oh no! Uber eats won’t let me willingly participate in their theft of my money anymore! lol

u/Seantwist9 Jun 20 '25

make a new account, charge back again later

Over maybe 5 years, most issues are with the restaurants than Uber Eats or the drivers. Almost every time, I get a partial, and sometimes even a full refund after raising the issue with them. Maybe 1 out of 10-12 orders may require me to contact Uber Eats. Is it possible that the frequency with which you may contact Uber Eats affects them not refunding you or banning your account? I’ve no idea what this agreement is with McDonald’s. Maybe an Uber Eats or McDonald’s employee could reveal the secret. If I get banned and start a new account, what do I ensure isn’t in your new account. You can’t change your address. Do you have to come up with a new payment method?

7

u/sugarmagnolia__ Jun 20 '25

Not sure why you are being downvoted. This is exactly correct. If you have too many issues in a short amount of time, they will say you aren't eligible. Even when the issues are not your fault. However, I have recently found that posting screenshots of the help chat and then tagging them on Twitter and sending proof helps, and I have gotten more help that way, and have been refunded. We should not be penalized for restaurants making mistakes, but if it happens too frequently, we are. It isn't right, but that doesn't make it untrue.

4

u/comfnumb94 Jun 20 '25

Voting is a binary response to a non-binary reply which most don’t understand. It only reveals their poor communication skills and lack of education. I’ll probably rack up 50 downvotes or more now. Woo hoo! The thing is, I don’t care.

There have been a couple times when I’ve dealt with Uber Eats support and they have asked for pictures but I already ate the food while it’s still hot. Posting your screenshots on twitter helps? I’d have thought Uber knows they have a monopoly so they don’t worry about it. What do you put in your tweet so they know it’s you? I would suspect they would close your account rather than improve your support. It seems the Uber company has just turned into a bunch of bullies. Yes, drivers should not be penalized for others mistakes. It’s like blaming the person on the road who was killed by a drunk driver. I agree with you. Uber support is basically a computer.

I drove for Goober until I realized this. Mainly with mcds as the culprit. I encountered many customers and most of them old and without transportation. Only restriction was age. Elderly customers would thank me once handing them the food and explain how uber has been owing them for nearly 4 months on missing or never delivered food . I had one mcds miss 2 Big Macs n fries on order . Get to customers door. Old lady explains that her mcbag fills light . We open the bag to discover half her food was missing and her grandkids were in distraught. I go to the mcds which was like 2 miles away and the manager barks at me and calls me a liar . Shuts window . Once he comes to his senses I tell him that I witness old granny customer open her mcbag in front of me . I record with customer on speaker and ask for her food. He smirks and miraculously hands me a bag with the exact missing items without asking me . McDonald’s and Uber are evil. I still have recoding . Had I not did that she would have been another victim. I would say uber on average owes $30 times atleast 45 million customers . Times each year ,globally . Old , scared of ban, enough money to overlook , or just flat out unaware on how to recover their money .

McDonald's has even started refusing refunds. I went to Micky ds got me a little breakfast mix with an orange juice to drink. The orange juice was watery I asked them "make me a new one this one taste a bit like water" they left me hanging for 10 minutes so asked. "what's the hold up on my drink?" McDonald's worker: "oh you said you didn't want it anymore"  Me: "no I asked you for a new one if I didn't want it anymore I would ask for a refund what's wrong with you?" McDonald's "you can leave now" Me: "not without a refund or my drink y'all are not gonna rob me of 3 bucks for a shitty drink" McDonald's: "no refunds!" They finally gave me the drink after I basically threw a tantrum. And that's not normally how a mistake at McDonald's is handled. Its usually you ask for a replacement they replace it.

Yeah taking payment again after losing a dispute isn’t looked on too kindly by the banks.

24

u/Maleficent-Owl-2479 Jun 19 '25

This is the best course. Your bank will take your side and block them from trying to take future payments. You'll probably need to create a new Uber account but I wouldn't give them a second chance after this. Better they get the loss than you

7

u/Alright_So Jun 19 '25

Hate to say I have taken the loss because I’m lazy and hungry. But it makes me furious

I threaten to file a chargeback before having to do so. They change their tune relatively quickly.

5

u/Alright_So Jun 19 '25

Unfortunately I haven’t had that response

2

u/Fun-Baby-9509 Jun 19 '25

Call them vs texting support. Bettet experience.

4

u/Alright_So Jun 19 '25

Unfortunately I haven’t had that experience

3

u/psychedelic-ape Jun 20 '25

I can relate. Whether call or text they still act like bots and don’t really care to resolve the issue..

3

u/comfnumb94 Jun 20 '25

Huh!!! Call who? No one’s home.

5

u/ReaperCrewTim Jun 20 '25

Lol in my last incident, that didn't work for me. I threatened a chargeback and they threatened me in return. They said "you may file a chargeback if you'd like, but be aware that this can lead to the deactivation of your account." I told them to go fuck themselves. What, my choices are either to get my money back, or be a good little bitch in exchange for the opportunity to keep my account so that they can continue to rob me in the future? No thanks, just the money back please. I always liked GrubHub better anyway.

3

u/pulsepm36 Jun 20 '25

I filed a chargeback on uber a couple years ago due to a refund refusal. The bank rejected the claim due to uber sending their terms and conditions over stating that their official refund policy is "no refunds". I ended up emailing the BBB and our state attorney general. Uber ended up sending me the refund once they got involved.

6

u/_kattitude Jun 19 '25

They are so annoying for this. I once had them try to take £160 from me for a grocery order that wasn’t delivered (driver never picked it up) so I had to do a PayPal dispute.

Good for you. They rely on this being too much hassle for most of us to pursue fully and I’m not happy that I fall into that bucket.

2

u/RepublicLate9231 Jun 20 '25

This happened to me and I just requested a refund again for a different reason, immediately, and it was granted.

I think this is a new policy. They just did this me to as well over the weekend. I went through BBB, but Uber Eats is sticking to their guns. So, I’ve filed a complaint with the AG of my state, and a charge back with my credit card company.

I think we should all file a nationwide class action lawsuit against uber eats, for services not rendered, and consumer protection violations.

12

u/Ok_Singer_5210 Jun 19 '25

The BBB is essentially just a review site (think Yelp in a suit.) Also, a business can have thousands of bad reviews and still have an A+ rating as long as they reply to the reviews politely. Paying businesses have also been known to have better ratings than non-paying businesses, regardless of the reviews they received.

While registering your complaint with the BBB is still a good idea, filing with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) and the CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau) are also good steps to take, as well as your state’s attorney general (as you have done).

I agree with the class action lawsuit. I was ultimately able to get a refund when the driver stole my food, but they denied it initially and it was an absolute headache. I then cancelled my UberOne subscription and told them I was switching to DoorDash due to abysmal customer service.

5

u/ChampsLeague3 Jun 20 '25

We have a President in office that's trying to destroy all consumer protections so those agencies won't exist for too much longer.

2

u/greenbastard6930 Jun 21 '25

they are currently facing a lawsuit right now in Canada along with Doordash. though it's not for services not rendered, but for the companies jacking up fees and charges without any reason other than to scrape more money from customers. its a start though

They are so infuriating when they pull that “since I’ve already answered your question I’m going to disconnect …” or some variation! Like, no, you haven’t fuc%ing answered anything! Or, OR…when you are frantically mashing the keyboard trying to type out the situation, and after 5 seconds they hit you with the “are you still there?” And if you don’t drop everything and say “yes” immediately, it’s “since I haven’t heard back , I’m disconnecting the chat,BYE! click” They are gonna try and say we can see “…is typing” when they are, but they somehow don’t have that advanced technologia on their support ticket system?! BS!! This is my experience with support as a delivery worker , I can imagine how bad it is as a customer! Just had to vent since I dealt with them last night and it was so frustrating. Sorry!

8

u/Teleke Jun 20 '25

Just keep harassing them, they give in. I sent around 100 messages over a few days using every option in the menu.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '25

Uber refuses all refunds by default. You have to chargeback.

3

u/Traditional-Share657 Jun 19 '25

Because McD pushed back on Uber for giving so many refunds to customers in the past, so now Uber refuses to give refunds for anything that can be staged as fraud. (You could have easily taken out food, took a pic and claimed half was missing)

5

u/Upsidedownmeow Jun 20 '25

So an uber delivery driver for McDonald’s can know this and get free dinner every night? Seems wrong

3

u/Traditional-Share657 Jun 20 '25

Basically Uber doesn't investigate, so a smart driver would do a few legit orders and then steal an order and get away with it. Only if there's a pattern will driver get deactivated.

If your account is bought for cheap, stealing food is probably more profitable than the fares Uber gives. So once problems crop up on a bought account, driver will likely go out by stealing orders in the end just to "get even".

3

u/bloodcnmyhands Jun 19 '25

Simply because they don't want to give the money back. Dispute the charge with your bank.

3

u/Realistic-Loss-9195 Jun 19 '25

2

u/PM_ur_butthole_2me Jun 19 '25

Don’t contact Uber eats call McDonald’s and tell them what’s missing. You’ll get your food or refund. It’s not Ubers fault McDonald’s missed half your food

2

u/FinalBat4515 Jun 20 '25

Cuz regular folk can’t do anything meaningful to fight them. They’re the main company fueling my corporate rage. Fuck them and any company that treats consumers like that

2

u/Snoo-46104 Jun 20 '25

Go get the food yourself.

Your paying almost double in premium for ordering off an app, the workers are basically abused, the company is hot dogshit in morals, your food will be cold and this happens 50% of orders.

There is really no benefit you have to wait same amount of time as if you had biked/walked/drove to the restaurant.

2

u/wolfe_god Jun 19 '25

You should contact McDonald’s and ask them for a refund.

0

u/hawaiiOF Jun 19 '25

Ive never had a problem getting a refund on uber also never had to speak to an agent to get it.

6

u/ResourceHuman5118 Jun 19 '25

Huh? Anyone reading this thread, this is uber talking. There’s no way you have 4 different users saying how they’ve TALKED to someone AND got a refund no problem. You are ineligible because Uber Eats is a scam and they want to keep your money if they screw up. Chargeback your card and remove the app.

1

u/iaguetzZ Jun 19 '25

just write "speak to a person" for every response untill the AI transfers you to a real person. That looked like an AI for me

1

u/Choice_Try_1381 Jun 19 '25

Do a chargeback

1

u/GreatestState Jun 19 '25

I was literally banned from my UberEats Driver account because they accused me of stealing the French fries out of a sealed McDonald’s bag that I took a picture of before customer opened. I had been driving almost every day for 10 months straight. No warnings or anything. When I questioned them about it they said it was because of low customer ratings, but my customer rating was like 4.9 stars or whatever. I’ve been driving with Door Dash ever since and I’ve got a couple violations because “Driver Support” decided to side with the crackheads I delivered to. It’s an awful system, because you’re completely on your own and at their mercy. We can’t actually use those photos we take as evidence to back up our side of the story. They always lie. They lie every time. No transparency over this whatsoever. A big problem is that the these employees don’t speak English as their first language, and they are so disconnected from our society that they don’t even know what a Walmart is.

1

u/Weekly_Chipmunk2177 Jun 19 '25

They just don't like you

1

u/MomsSpecialFriend Jun 19 '25

It’s the same as if you ordered it and took it home and it was wrong. You call McDonald’s and they offer you free food when you come in the next time.

u/Apprehensive_Win292 Jun 19 '25

Dispute with your card issuer and never use this trash company again.

1

u/xMcRaemanx Jun 19 '25

In ubers opinion they arent really liable for anything, they know that even if you sue them it'll be for a minimal amount if you even win. And then they'll just block your account and card from being used again.

In this case it was the restaurants responsibility to package it correctly, and ubers to deliver it, so uber is just washing their hands of it saying order accuracy isn't part of your agreement with them. Even though common sense says if they are the merchant organizing the order they need to take responsibility for the shit performance of the restaurants and drivers they allow on the platform. It's unreal.

You'll get the same answer if you have the driver on camera yeeting your food out the window at your door as he speeds by though so, it has nothing to do with you or your order. Just a canned response.

3

u/Seantwist9 Jun 20 '25

uber is liable, and this is why we have chargebacks. it’s not common sense to be on uber, it’s the law. you never entered a agreement with the store

1

u/DatBoyCody Jun 19 '25

McDonald’s has a McPlant? 🤣🤣 never heard of that

1

u/Western_Fish8354 Jun 19 '25

Always call support

1

u/Sad-Gas5277 Jun 19 '25

Dispute it with your bank

1

u/MarvaJnr Jun 19 '25

Had a similar situation with a KFC order- deleted the app and bought an air fryer.

1

u/fkngdmit Jun 19 '25

1) Stop eating McDonald's. It is overpriced garbage and is bad for your health. 2) Stop using UE, you are enriching a company that profits off the suffering of their drivers and their customers.

1

u/Familiar_Marzipan_46 Jun 19 '25

When you complain all the time you don’t get anything. When you refuse to tip the driver (which has been confirmed by your posting) you get shit service.

1

u/Numerous-Kick-7055 Jun 19 '25

If this is above the minimum for small claims court you should do that just to mess with them

1

u/killahtomato Jun 19 '25

Every post on this sub is about Uber not giving legit refunds and overall being a dirtbag of a company...Stop ordering from them. Use a different service. Why do we still give them money just for them to screw us?

1

u/Automatic-Cut-5567 Jun 19 '25

Chargeback. You paid for an object and never received it.

1

u/Super_Caterpillar_27 Jun 19 '25

there needs to be a class action lawsuit.

1

u/Time-Jellyfish-9135 Jun 19 '25

I used to never have any issues but the last couple of months I just get the same generic message. I’ve literally sent proof of my order being delivered to the wrong address and I was still told no refund. So I just stopped using their app 🤷🏾‍♀️

1

u/WhyWontThisWork Jun 19 '25

Tip your delivery person

1

u/National_Way_3344 Jun 19 '25

You are eligible for a refund.

Chargeback your credit card.

If your account gets banned, it would be doing you a favour. Then contact their card issuer and consumer protection authority and complain about retaliatory bans for reasonable chargebacks.

1

u/odanhammer Jun 19 '25

When you follow the refund route, you're talking to a bot Keep pushing , ask for more support, etc.

1

u/Hijye Jun 19 '25

Uber support otp is how I contact them and I dont know if that gets it settled quicker for me than texting a person/bot but take it up with the mcdonalds location, call them and explain what happened date and time they literally have cameras recording whoever poorly packed up your order, cameras pick that all up before it gets sealed.

1

u/AgeInteresting4294 Jun 19 '25

Why can’t we call anymore?

1

u/Proof_Education8967 Jun 19 '25

Exactly why I canceled my subscription!! Service is terrible and after multiple stops, the food is cold!!

1

u/Top-Respond-3744 Jun 19 '25

Because that’s what they tell to everyone as they think you have no choice but to accept their decisions. They have killed the competition now they show what and who they are.

1

u/Nolaboyy Jun 19 '25

Im guessing the zero tip caused your driver to eat his tip and thats why you were missing food. 😏

1

u/[deleted] Jun 20 '25

Its literally AI. I mean I know people that dumb but still.

1

u/psychedelic-ape Jun 20 '25

They got me for $40 on Thanksgiving night, for some reason I was allowed to order from a restaurant that was closed, waited 2 hours for a phantom “delivery driver”, food never came, they basically gave me the same story about being ineligible for a refund. Yea they suck.

1

u/Teleke Jun 20 '25

I'm not going to read through all the comments, but in case nobody else has mentioned this: this is not a person, it is a bot. That exact sequence happens all the time and it's pretty much regardless of the text that you type in.

1

u/Quick-Watch-2842 Jun 20 '25

Probably just AI. Auto generated texts etc.

1

u/OrionTheMightyHunter Jun 20 '25

What kinda crappy service is this? In the UK you just go through some automated answers and then they refund you without having to even talk to someone. The only exception is if you have a pattern of requesting refunds but otherwise it's easy and takes two minutes.

1

u/Extra-Throat-162 Jun 20 '25

Why do you guys post the same shit every day instead of just stop ordering via uber eats?

1

u/Hairy_Advertising630 Jun 20 '25

I don’t understand your answers though because on the one hand when they asked, you was anything else missing from the order you said just these things that I mentioned but then on the very next line they asked you was it just these items or the entire order and you said it was the entire order so my gut thought is to flag you for lying and deny you as well You may wanna try to be more clear in future communication

1

u/MoodyBloom91 Jun 20 '25

I reported them to ftc for this exact thing. Unacceptable

1

u/Fit_Cut2092 Jun 20 '25

File a complaint with the BBB and send screenshots to uber. They pay it right away.

1

u/Comfortable_Win7926 Jun 20 '25

Was it an order made through Uber or thru McDonald's and full filled by Uber?

1

u/MoodyBloom91 Jun 20 '25

Just wait until you try to edit your order 10 seconds after placing it and it prompts you to cancel it and nowhere does it say that you will be charged a full price and than you cancel it thinking you will get some back but nope then when you contact support within 1 min they basically say there’s nothing they can do and that they already paid the restaurant. What I did was had to drive to the restaurant and pick up the food myself 🙄

1

u/Jezzuhh Jun 20 '25

Regular uber also seems to have laid off their entire customer service support staff and are just auto denying issues. They’re going scorched earth

1

u/x40Shots Jun 20 '25

Idk, but why are you being confusing in the chat and first saying part of the order, and then when they go to reconfirm, you say the whole order...

1

u/robjohnlechmere Jun 20 '25

You're usually ineligible for a refund until you ask a 5th time. Then it's given no questions asked. You're talking to an AI, it is basically a verbal game of pong. Just keep rap a tapping that ball back at it.

1

u/2sAreTheDevil Jun 20 '25

McDonald's seals their bags, and drivers aren't allowed to open them. We literally can not verify if everything is in your order. Since Uber can't verify it, the fault lies with the restaurant.

1

u/JRPGsAreForMe Jun 20 '25 edited Jun 20 '25

Why won't this square fit in the triangle hole? I keep trying and trying, but it never works the way it should.

That's how people sound when they order for the 20th time from a place that "always messes their order up" and then complain when they can't get a refund because they're on their 50th refund when you include all the other orders they've placed and then tried to use the "didn't get it hack" they saw on TikTok.

Shit, I work at Home Depot in the customer service area, and we have a system where after so many refunds with or without a receipt you go on a list and can be denied.

It reminds me of when I worked at a pizza place that stopped accepting checks north of George Street because of the number of fraudulent checks. Delivered to one if the main offenders who said she'd be paying cash and she couldn't understand why I wouldn't give her the food until she put the checkbook away and pulled out a wallet. And since that didn't happen, I drove back with her pizza and drinks and had to cancel the order.

1

u/mklinger23 Jun 20 '25

You have two options.

Do you want/need to use Uber eats in the future? They took your money. Deal with it.

Would you be okay with not using Uber eats in the future? Contact your credit card company and donate charge-back. Uber will ban you.

1

u/bobthebobbober Jun 20 '25

My solution to this sort of thing, which you will see hundreds of posts about here, is just not to use Uber Eats anymore. In my city a recent report even showed that ordering groceries through them makes the bill rise 112% (ex bill at store is 38$ and delivery is 82$ for the same things from the same place), as all discounts are taken by them.

At this point, Uber is playing everyone , the stores with a cut , the drivers with a cut , and the consumers with poor service and a cut.

1

u/Infinite_Escape9683 Jun 20 '25

Because Uber is slowly becoming an outright scam.

1

u/Aurialirez1 Jun 20 '25

This is honestly why I stopped using uber eats

1

u/SnooDoubts2293 Jun 20 '25

Yeah. Uber eats did this to us twice, so we don't use them anymore. They don't refund missing items, it seems. Why on earth would anyone use them?

1

u/DragonflyBusiness889 Jun 20 '25

DoorDash refunds every single time. Uber sucks

1

u/Lopsided-One9196 Jun 20 '25

Because its a shit app and has next to no real humans working it. I used to do the deliverirs from time to time. The app is attrocious.

1

u/Impossible_Key793 Jun 20 '25

They told me this once and then I replied that I was very disappointed but I understood and Unfortunately I will now have to switch exclusively to DoorDash. They were then suddenly able to refund me.

u/mikehocksard Jun 20 '25

Are all these posts in America? I have never once been refused a refund in the uk and I ask for one if I even have a straw missing

1

u/burningtoast99 Jun 20 '25

Off topic but have you tried the big arch burger before?

1

u/RubbelDieKatz94 Jun 20 '25

It's crazy how enshittified delivery apps in other countries are. I rarely have bad experiences with UberEats, Lieferando, and other apps in Europe. German Restaurants will often use these apps as storefronts and simply hire their own drivers.

1

u/Akash_nu Jun 20 '25

I’ve stopped using uber eats because of this problem. Luckily there are better alternatives who don’t try to scam the customers out of their pocket.

1

u/Consistent_Garlic6 Jun 20 '25

They did exactly the same to me with the same meal. Im jut going to use an alternative way now because its always the same with uber

We used user eats twice, and both times our order had missing items. Once we got refunded for a bag of chips. The second I went to McDonald's told them half our order was missing and the worker re did our entire order and then got into an argument with a manager because she shouldn't have done that. I will never use uber eats again. Biggest scammers out there.

1

u/Scnew1 Jun 20 '25

I don’t know why Reddit started showing me these delivery service subreddits, but I am amazed at how often this seems to happen with Uber Eats, meanwhile I’ve never seen someone post this issue with DoorDash.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 20 '25

You need to call not text and tell them that if they don’t correct this, you will be filing a charge back with your bank, I just threatened that anytime they’re on bullshit and it works, they tried to tell me they weren’t gonna refund me for a like $80 order before that the driver stole, they pulled across the street from my house, walked up, took a picture of the bag, picked it back up and left… I was drunk and angry, but was not about to open the door to try to start something… had to wait till morning and that was the last of my money so I went to bed hungry, I honestly wish people would stop using these apps because they’re out of their mind. And the more they do this and get away with it and they will because a lot of people are pushovers and won’t do anything about it the more they’ll do it.

1

u/themorganator4 Jun 20 '25

Because fuck you, that's why - uber customer support

Chargeback is the only way but uber will ban your account after you're successful.

1

u/Sea-Business8316 Jun 20 '25

The bags are stickered shut, I'm assuming it's on McDonald's. But you do have shady drivers out there. Only way is through your bank.

1

u/Yellamine Jun 20 '25

You deserve this. You use uber eats.

1

u/SlimLivv Jun 20 '25

A little off topic, but where do they sell Big Arch meals? Canada? UK?

→ More replies (5)

1

u/knittingclub Jun 20 '25

Dont use uber eats or any uber services anymore. This is how they deal with every customer service issue. A chat bot's hollow apology and denying any chance at making the customer whole. They wont even help you if your uber account is being used by an unknown party

1

u/DarthXOmega Jun 20 '25

American uber will literally just scam you huh?

1

u/Fun_Government8422 Jun 20 '25

Uber only do this to customers who constantly claim refunds and complain. I have had this happen to me once or twice and refunds were issued.

So may be you're a serial refunder.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Remarkable_Effort_33 Jun 20 '25

Chargeback and stop using them.

1

u/throwaway_aljsjdjs Jun 20 '25

Its Mcdonalds. i used their app before (its through door dash in canada idk) I contacted doordash support for a refund and they wouldnt do it either.

1

u/Every_Okra_3604 Jun 20 '25

Holy fucking VAT

1

u/DeweyDefeatsYouMan Jun 20 '25

You’re ineligible for a refund because they want to keep your money and they think you won’t do anything about it. You can get your money back by doing a chargeback with your bank, but that means no more using uber eats.

Keep in mind, this will continue to happen to you and you will continue to have no recourse until you decide to stop using uber eats.

1

u/Resident-Variation21 Jun 20 '25

“Understood, I’ll proceed with a chargeback. Thank you”

1

u/InternetWaste532 Jun 20 '25

delete your account and file for dispute. reopen later

1

u/GeorgiaFat Jun 20 '25

When your missing items, it’s the restaurants problem and not Ubers. If you order from a local restaurant and call them with the problem after you don’t get part of your meal, they might refund you those items or order a driver to deliver the missing items. This is not an Uber problem; this is a restaurant employee problem. Take it up with the restaurant and not Uber.

1

u/PlanetaryPotato Jun 20 '25

“Can you reference in the policy”

completely ignores the question and hits you verbal bullshit

→ More replies (1)

1

u/iwxoxo Jun 20 '25

This happened to me enough times that I finally decided to recently delete uber. If I needed groceries, I’d have to go out and get it the Ol’ fashioned way. Way harder with kids but I take it over constantly gettjng my money stolen from uber.

1

u/mardan810 Jun 20 '25

Speak to a supervisor

1

u/earth_west_420 Jun 20 '25
  1. Keep trying differenr agents, one will probably help you out.

  2. Talk to a class action lawyer, one will probably help you out

1

u/ProphetOfAethis Jun 20 '25

Dispute charge, had to do that once with Doordash(which was weird, usually they were on top of giving me a refund) for some reason they refused to give a refund when they gave me the wrong persons order. Because “I got a delivery” so I disputed, they contacted me about it. I told them I’d sue if I had to, got my money + a credit to my account

1

u/OrdinaryStrawberry43 Jun 20 '25

They said the same to me despite not getting my food

1

u/Fragrant-Power-2461 Jun 20 '25

I had an issue with them like this even with proof I had to dispute and my bank gave me my money back. They didn’t close my account but added balance of amount I disputed to uber eats account to pay them back. They told me at first I would get refund I kept screenshot of that and then said no refund later. That was my last time using them after dispute.

1

u/fightmefresh Jun 20 '25

uber does not care about you, stop using these crooked 3rd party delivery services

1

u/MiserableHoliday5913 Jun 20 '25

Yeah, it’s one of those situations where you live n you learn. Eventually, no one will use this service anymore because so many people get burned by them. I’m sorry that happened to you. That’s so frustrating. Especially from a company that can definitely afford to refund you.

1

u/Cruddmuffin117 Jun 20 '25

You lost me when I saw Vegan on the receipt. 🤦‍♂️

1

u/neyman-pearson Jun 20 '25

Thís happened to me 5 years ago. Told them I'd never use their service again and haven't looked back since

1

u/bullzeye1983 Jun 20 '25

If you ordered from the app and not Uber then your complaint is with McDonalds.

My complaint is with you eating so much of that junk you get that many free items. Gross.

1

u/Gordon_Brody Jun 20 '25

I know mcdonalds is on doordash, so why the fuck we doing Uber eats?

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Slighted_Inevitable Jun 20 '25

You ordered it thru the McDonald’s ap? They pay uber for delivery but uber doesn’t get their price hikes on the food or their service charges. Uber is not responsible for refunds for those orders. You have to go thru McDonald’s support.

1

u/Wide-Turnip899 Jun 20 '25

For lying 😩😂

1

u/PretendTeach4741 Jun 20 '25

Everyone that doesn't get their refund back should definitely band together and sue cause ffs why would they not give you your money back😭

1

u/ChipotleGuacOnMy Jun 20 '25

Tip Karma for sure 🤪

1

u/sugarmagnolia__ Jun 20 '25 edited Jun 20 '25

Post this on Twitter (x) and tag them in it. I've been having issues with them, and I think once you have too many, they say you're ineligible. I got the wrong order, and the items were less expensive than the ones I ordered, but in the app, when I did the chat, they said I was ineligible for a refund, even though I had the pictures, receipt, and everything. So I complained on Twitter and tagged them, and was DM'd by them that they were looking into it, and then got an email and message on UberEats about a refund, and I was refunded the next day. Feel free to DM me if you need

1

u/[deleted] Jun 20 '25

This stems from people falsely reporting missing items. Uber is losing too much money from lying customers and are now forced to reject claims even if they're credible. I had one customer report they never received their $70 red lobster order I clearly put at their door. If you mark meet at door then comment leave at door I now take a photo regardless to show proof of delivery. I'm not saying this is you, I'm saying these situations are causing your current situation.

1

u/Electrical-Ice-9175 Jun 20 '25

I would solve it this way.

- Chargeback with bank.

- UberEats account will get banned.

- Next time do a pick up order instead.

1

u/wecomeinpeaceMO Jun 20 '25

When are yall gonna stop using uber and uber eats. Everyone knows they’re a terrible company.

1

u/Showny16 Jun 20 '25

Because you wanted a refund. Charge back and uninstall this shit app

→ More replies (1)

1

u/CarpenterTall2172 Jun 20 '25

And this is why I started calling up the restaurant myself to place orders. Uber has screwed me over more times than I can count never ever use a debit card if you must. Always credit card you are almost certain to get your money back if you dispute it because uber is the definition of crazy.

1

u/stepheedee Jun 21 '25

They've done the same hang up in us as drivers trying to help a customer. Unbelievably rude!

1

u/twhiting9275 Jun 21 '25

They're not going to tell you why, because too many people abuse the system and try to 'rules lawyer' shit. That's the process now. Accept it.

Unfortunately, the masses have abused the system so far that this is what happens now :(

1

u/Aceopsog Jun 21 '25

Dispute the transaction with your card issuer and show them exactly what you’ve shown us. They’ll give you your money back and uber will either write it off or have a real conversation about it. Either way you win.

1

u/AntaresTheSlayer Jun 21 '25

Yeah this is on McDonald's and they trying to pass the blame to Uber Eats. That's probably why Uber doesn't want to give a refund. Theyare just the delivery

1

u/SnooMuffins1946 Jun 21 '25

If you ordered through the McDonald’s app message them through the app. That’s what I did and got my money back from McDonald’s!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '25

I’ve been stung a few times myself. One of the delivery drives stole our food and uber did F all about it. Now I drive to mc Donald’s to save the hassle ..

1

u/JRobson23 Jun 21 '25

This happened to me once, they blame McDonalds, you contact McDonalds who blame Uber Eats and it’s all one big con.

1

u/Cuddles_and_Kinks Jun 21 '25

This happened to me once, I was only missing a drink and it was a bit of a bummer since the drink was most of why I ordered but I got over. Then it happened again, they gave me someone else’s entire order, I sent pics of the food and the receipt and still got nothing. Haven’t used Uber eats since, and I’m kind of grateful because it made me realise that I really don’t miss it and I’m sure I’m saving money and eating healthier without it.

It sucks how many services just get worse and worse. I almost said “oh well, it was good while it lasted” but really it was most like “it was adequate while it lasted” because it was never really that “good”.

1

u/Fragrant_Surprise928 Jun 21 '25

Why dont you just call Door Dash support and talk to a real person. I dont know why you guys are doing the chat. It's all AI anyway.

1

u/BigScarcity1304 Jun 21 '25

This is why I only use credit cards when buying anything that relies on people getting your shit right. When discover or visa says I ain’t fucking paying, they listen👍

1

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '25

You wanted the whole meal refunded. Wasn't that why it was rejected?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '25

Sounds like an AI bot; I wouldn’t be surprised. Sometimes it’s worth asking because bots will typically avoid admitting it

1

u/SG_Sia Jun 21 '25

Complain to the better business bureau and include these messages, and then contact your congressman. The more people do the more we can work to get legislation passed to force Uber to fix their predatory practices.

1

u/Specific_Tuba Jun 22 '25

I had to actually call them and talk to a person to get my money back. The funny thing is, he acted like he was doing me a favor even though they delivered our groceries to a different address. He said it’s not really eligible but I’ll give you a refund as a courtesy this once. Lol

1

u/ggbruddda Jun 22 '25

Uber eats completely fucked me over, I ordered a bowl WITH NO BEANS, a dbl honey chicken…. They gave me a bowl with 35%fucking percent of beans and fucking 10 small fucking peices of the NORMAL CHICKEN, then the fucking not says I’m not eligible for a refund I’m pissed tf off and they have no fucking customer support number

1

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '25

Hopefully you filed a fraud case with your bank against them since you didn't get what you paid for. The bank will reverse the charges.

1

u/Chrisagape086 Jun 22 '25

You need to add this to your order in the first place if you didnt, second, if you’re that concerned, call or text your delivery driver in advance before he picks it up, you can literally track them

1

u/christiangh93 Jun 22 '25

Hey everyone, wasn’t expecting this kind of reaction to my post, I was only expecting a reply from one or two people!

So an update, we emailed the MacDonalds email address on the receipt later that evening and explained what had happened with Uber Eats. After asking for a photo of our initial receipt, they offered us two free meals next time we come in, which we claimed yesterday :)

Issue resolved, no dramas, the big arch burger totally slaps and next time we’ll either go in person or use JustEat haha

1

u/Tight-Courage-2281 Jun 22 '25

I would contact my credit card company and have them cancel the charge for services not rendered.

1

u/pandacat1997 Jun 22 '25

Yup they do not care ordered a few groceries and all of my veggies were rotten and had to throw them away. I also tipped well, I always do🤷🏻‍♀️ not ordering from them again. seems they don’t care.

1

u/ZeinzuDebisu Jun 22 '25

They openly scam customers on an extremely regular basis now. I expect a large scale class action lawsuit should be coming soon.

1

u/WonderPractical325 Jun 23 '25

My main question is When did McDonalds get a vegan patty?

1

u/splatterpunkpixie Jun 23 '25

This happened to me too. Cancelled uber one. DoorDash has been much better when issues arise

1

u/Good-Student3783 Jun 23 '25

I feel like we are missing a slide..

1

u/PotentialSpecial362 Jun 23 '25

It’s called uber treats for a reason, one for you one for me

1

u/kirya1120 Jun 23 '25 edited Jun 23 '25

Do you do a lot of refunds or have issues with your food a lot. Uber is known for flagging accounts that do this for mis using the system and stop issuing refunds or credits.

Which sucks for people who have legitimate h problems with their drivers, the customer support sucks.

The other day i told the restaurant I didn’t want a specific item on my food and they put the item on anyway actually hiding it under other stuff, I ate it and had to see a doctor

Ubers response: sorry to hear about that champ, anyways please update your payment information

1

u/PaleontologistDear18 Jun 23 '25

Oh oh oh I know it’s cause they are a scam company and you should make 100s of orders in a row where you remove tip, say you didn’t get something, get delivery twice, and then TIP CASH AFTER REMOVING DIGITAL TIP. Fuck that service
