General Discussion the original trilogy made star wars tech feel real
rewatching the original trilogy with my kid, i noticed how often the ships and gear break down. han has to smack the falcon's dashboard, luke's landspeeder rattles and kicks up dust, and everything feels like it could fall apart at any moment
that roughness makes the galaxy feel lived-in. the newer movies look great, but their technology often feels too clean and reliable by comparison
anyone else notice this when rewatching the originals?

General Discussion What did the Kaminoans before the Clone Army?
In AOC, Dexter Jettster told Obi-Wan that the Kaminoans were famous for cloning. Considering that the clone army was a secret and nobody knew about it, what made them famous?

Games Anyone got the list of Huttese insults used in Episode 1 Racer?
I’ve been so into Galactic Racer I find myself repeating the banter I remember from the original game and I want to make sure I’m pronouncing it right lol.
so far I kinda remember something along the lines of “Mee-Ah-Ba-doosta” for something like “Nice Cropduster” and “Ee-matchi-malta-marnie wermo!” for something like “See you at the finish line dumbass” lol.

Games Starkiller has Darth Maul’s Lightsaber hilt? (Star Wars Force Unleashed)
Okay I’ve been racking my brain trying to make it make sense, but I don’t feel like it does so maybe you guys could explain it for me.
I’ve just bought the Star Wars Black Series: Lord Starkiller action figure (which is awesome, by the way) and he comes with six lightsaber hilts you can hang on his belt (pictured above). I’ve managed to identify them, to the best of my ability.
From left to right we have:
-Starkiller’s first saber hilt
-Lord Starkiller’s saber hilt
-Darth Vader’s saber hilt
-Rahm Kota’s saber hilt
-Kazdan Paratus’s saber hilt (not the whole pike tho)
-Half of Darth Maul’s saber hilt???
My question is: why would Starkiller have Maul’s hilt? The only explanation I’ve seen others give is that it’s from Proxy, but why would Proxy have Maul’s hilt? Proxy does simulate Maul at one point, but he also simulates Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon Jinn and various others. Are we to assume that he has all their hilts as well?
I’ve checked the actual in-game outfit as well and he has Maul’s hilt there as well.
It just doesn’t make sense to me. And, yes, I am very aware of the fact that I’m probably putting way too much thought and energy into this question. More than the people at LucasArts did, probably.
I guess what I’m looking for is someone to either give me a plausible reason for Starkiller to have Maul’s hilt, or just validate that it makes no sense.

Merchandise Following up on their comment about 'the six core Star Wars films', Hasbro have clarified: "if you're a sequel fan, we have a sequel product coming next year. We have a list of sequel stuff we want to hit, for now we're releasing our number one from that; hopefully we'll get onto more after that."
https://youtu.be/OiuV1GAbo94?t=89
Video timestamped to the relevant portion. I'm going to assume the 'number one' is Kylo, he sells pretty consistently out of the sequel characters I believe. They could be using the sales of that figure to gauge interest in further sequel lines.

Fun Lightsabers at Disneyland
Just found out the cost to build a lightsaber at Disneyland. I'm curious to know if they're just cheap pieces of plastic that you're just paying for the label for, or if you can actually duel with them.
I'm not going to Disneyland (right now); I'm just curious lol

Fan Creations Shadows of the Empire - Ord Mantell - fan remake hobby project
I absolutely loved this game as a kid. It would be my introduction to Star Wars.
4 years ago I attempted to remake 1 of my favorite levels: Ord Mantell Junkyard with IG-88 boss fight in the old retro style just for Fun. Past holiday I revisited the project again and decided to record what I have so far.
It is meant as an homage to those awesome developers and actors who made such an amazing game.
Purely for hobby purposes and as a tribute. No commercial intent or file sharing whatsoever. If it violates anything I obviously will take this down.

Movies Shawn Levy Teases Latest Star Wars Film Starfighter, Says He Couldn’t ‘Make Something That I’m Not a Fan of’
https://people.com/shawn-levy-teases-star-wars-starfighter-starring-ryan-gosling-exclusive-12167131
“When I make a Marvel movie, I’m a Marvel fan making that movie. When I’m making Star Wars, I’m a fan making that movie,” Levy said.
Levy previously praised Gosling as not just an actor on the project, but as a true creative collaborator. “Some actors are great muses, right? Some actors are just amazing on screen, and you’re inspired telling that story. The thing about Gosling is he’s a great muse and he’s inspiring, but he’s also a great partner,” the filmmaker told PEOPLE in August.
“He thinks like a full spectrum creative,” Levy continued of Gosling. “He’s an artist. He’s an incredible actor, but he’s also thinking about the lighting, the fabric on the wall. He’s noticing everything.”

Fan Creations Project: Rebellion RTS mode
This is a personal project of mine I've been working on for the last couple of months as a learning experience. The ultimate goal is to rip out the star wars and make my own IP and game using the systems I've created for this project. Seamless space to ground combat. Ground battles (very WIP at the moment so no good footage, but I can share a screenshot of my coruscant map from blender.
The vision: A galactic citizen game where both sides of a galactic combat are played by the computer. In other words, the player would exist as a citizen in the galaxy, doing quests, taking jobs, escorting ships from ground to surface, joining the rebellion or joining the empire, etc. Meanwhile, in the background, the computer is playing the RTS game in realtime. So let's say the player has been hanging out on a water planet doing odd jobs for the fish folk, completing storylines, etc. In the background, the computer decides it wants to blockade that planet. Now, the player is free to leave at any time, but if they are on a blockaded world, the fleet is going to try to shoot them down while they do it. Take it further: You're on that same water planet, and the fleet shows up and launches a ground invasion while you're there. Suddenly there's a battlefront style ground battle going on around you. If the attacking army captures all the key command points, control of the planet falls to them, and you'll start seeing their faction flags and units all over the place.
Let's say you don't like that the bad guys control the planet you're on and decide to do something about it, so you join a rebel group. You're now marked as an enemy of the opposing faction. Double cross your allies? Congratulations! You have a bounty on your head and could be confronted by someone trying to collect at any time.
Most of that is just in the concept phase, but the systems are in place.

Get blitzed and watch a cool battle mode:
https://youtu.be/CAZD9we8f88?si=VIyaskQM10KhFr4k
Edit: To be clear, this is not a modded mashup. This is a brand new game built from the ground up in Godot. This is definitely AI assisted, but I have personally made hundreds of models and textures myself.

Merchandise Star Wars card collecting help!
Dear Star Wars community, please help a confused mom out!
My son is a massive fan. Like massive seems like down playing it honestly. But anyway, he is turning 5 in a couple weeks (the obsession started when he was 2) and we are desperate to find some kind of Star Wars something he doesn’t already have. He’s an avid Star Wars LEGO/minifigure collector but kids his age are starting to get into Pokémon card and I remember being obsessed as a kid getting a new pack of cards to see what I got and going home to put them in my binder. Is there a Star Wars version of that we could get him? If so what exactly should I be looking for to get him started? I did google it and saw that they exist for a game? Is that correct? I’m definitely thinking just to collect and enjoy the fun of opening mystery packs type of thing. Maybe these are the cards people collect..? Any help appreciated!
Thank you!!!

General Discussion Confused about Clone Battalion Structure?
How does it work? I know there’s Jedi High Generals Jedi Generals and Jedi Commanders but there’s also Clone Commanders and Clone Captains? My main questions about the structure is
* what’s the difference between each of the clone rankings?
*what type of clone was Commander Gregor who had the glowing visor?
* could an entire squadron of clones like Commander Gregor exist? Could they be ran by a Jedi General?
* how many clones total are under a Jedi General?
Just lay it out as I am trying to write clone characters and breaking down the military hierarchy has been tedious.

General Discussion I find it interesting how Leia forgave her son for all the terrible things he did as "kylo ren" including killing Han but never forgave abakin until maybe the later time of her life for the things he did as darth vader
I know at a point leia had given up hope for ben turning back to light but she never hated him or disliked him like she did with anakin. In bloodlines novels she already knows about anakin's background and his good deeds but still doesn't understand him and doesn't see him as her father and it's at the end of life that she comes to maybe forgive and accept him. Maybe it was because her first impression of her father was as vader
Meanwhile since she raised ben she has a much softer spot for him and can't bring herself to truly hate him even if he killed her husband and killed thousands of people

Other Is there a more updated Huttese Dictionary anywhere?
I’m mostly writing this because of the whole “SCRIB DOOOOOON” meme but like the title reads is there an updated dictionary?
The most popular one hasn’t been updated since 2012 and there’s the google doc some members of Sliimo have updated themselves here in this sub. According to them they have their own dictionary they’ve written but have not released yet but I’m curious if anyone else has one written down in hand or if anyone is interested in starting one?
We have over 24 years of spoken Huttese dialogue and I don’t think Disney or Lucas LTD. care to release their internal notes anytime soon and I would love to have something other than Klingon to learn

General Discussion Will Rey's Jedi Order allow attachments this time?
Seeing as the old order failed Anakin & Padme, as well as Luke Skywalker's order failed, I hope Rey's new Jedi Order will allow attachments this time. And I mean love/romance!
For the new movie being Rey's new Jedi Order, look forward to the next generation outside of the Skywalkers. A fresh new cast.
As for the villain side? If Palpatine tries to return again, look forward to the birth of a new villain who intends to form a new faction of Jedi for the dark side to rise above the Sith.

If Jedi/Sith can sense the next move sentient beings make, shouldn’t they have a harder time fighting droids since they’re not alive?

General Discussion Qui-Gon & Anakin post-vaderification: what would they say to eachother
A conversation between the two would be interesting. How do you think it would go? What would they say to eachother?
