General Discussion I don't see Palpatine's resurrection in ROS as that outlandish- here's my rationale + other insights about how the sequels actually work

Some may argue this was just a story Palpatine told Anakin to manipulate him into the dark side, but in ROTS he did talk about escaping death using the dark side. After all, he was Darth Plagueis' apprentice- this is the guy that could create life and cheat death. That moment, coupled with his famous line, "the dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural", is justification enough for his coming back in ROS imo (and it was pretty sick when he reprised that line in ROS). He obviously was an extremely powerful sith, and I don't doubt that he could have learned ways to rematerialize post-death considering what is known about his character.

The part about Rey being his granddaughter also doesn't bother me- she's confused by her connection to the force, and its exemplification when she encounters Skywalker artifacts. It makes sense that a random girl on Jakku would be so powerful if she's a descendant of the one who managed to turn one of the best Jedi's to the dark side. And because of her grandfathers involvement with the Skywalkers, it makes sense that she would have a connection with them as well. She's troubled by the mystery of her parents - this could have been a manipulation tactic that Palpatine used in order to generate a weakness in her (one he needed to exploit in order for Siths to take control again).

Snoke was useless and I don't care ab him lol

Her relationship with Kylo and Kylo's whole character arc was awesome

If you look at the whole Skywalker saga as a whole, the parallels happening between the prequels and the sequels is pretty cool. It starts with very powerful good turning to evil, and ends with very powerful evil (descendant) turning to good. Both Anakin's and Reys stories involve "unnatural" uses of the force: Anakin conceived of the force, Rey's conquering of her resurrected grandfather.

General Discussion Theory: How George Lucas' Sequels would've fit into Ring Theory (Dialectics Theory)

Post image
0 Upvotes

This is roughly based on the argument joshfromxboxlive made a while back for how the Lucas films are interconnected within each trilogy and between the trilogies.

To simplify it, in the same way Ring Theory suggests the first two trilogies are mirror images of each other, the Sequels would've been a synthesis of the two as it was the ultimate conclusion of the saga.

Ring Theory:

In short, this popular theory just states how both narratively and visually the first two trilogies are inversions of one another, hers the basic layout.

1-->6

2-->5

3--4

Dialectics:

This is sort of an expansion of the previous theory, where in each episode , trilogy, and possibly the whole saga it consist of 3 parts that make up a dialectical structure. Thesis, Antithesis, and the Synthesis. ANH is the Thesis, ESB is the Antithesis to ANH, and ROTJ is a synthesis of the two. The prequels are now framed as the Antithesis to the original trilogy. With the sequels, they logically should be the synthesis of the two trilogies.

7--> 6&3

8-->5&2

9-->1&4

Episode 7:

Concept art for the opening of the film takes cues from 6 when Thea and Skyler face off pirates while trying to get off world. Visual callback to when Luke was being pushed off the plank in front of Jabba.

Story beat revolving around the lead confronting an old Jedi in hiding for information. (Luke confronting Yoda about withholding info over Vader/Thea confronting Luke over his exile or concealinh something about her family).

Character being seduced to the darkside.(Palpatine seduces Anakin to the darkside/ Talon LITERALLY seduces Skyler to the dark side).

Idk, it's sort of a vague up in the air theory I have and it barely feels relevant not that Disney finished their trilogy.

I know a lot are sick of hearing or reading about these treatments, some are too jaded to accept they exist, y'all are no fun.

Happy to discuss more

Movies Han's backflip, quarter twist, into the Cave on the asteroid in Empire Strikes Back is where he won...

This move may be the suavest maneuver ever pulled off in any movie ever. Think of the run up to this scene, and what he's actually doing here.

Han & Leia spent the entire morning quarreling about him leaving. Something so common the rest of the base barely tales notice. He knows she's into him. She's in denial. So much so she plants one on her brother right in front of him just to spite him.

Han takes it in stride and goes back to prepping the Falcon. Echo base comes under attack and Leia has to make the brutal decision to pull the plug on the entire op. Han shows genuine concern for her by putting himself, his wookie, and his beloved ship in harm's way to save her (and 3PO). A ship Leia never stops nagging about.

If he hadn't been there Leia definitely misses her transport and is recaptured by Vader. Score 1 for Han.

He blasts his way out of Echo base, survives several star destroyers in open space, and outmaneuvers a bunch of TIE fighters through an asteroid field. Without a hyperdrive, All the time with Leia in one ear and 3PO in the other. Score 2. 3, & 4 for Han.

Now, for the first time in six hours their lives aren't in immediate danger, the first time all morning they can stop and catch their breath for a second, Han finds a cave to hide in. He doesn't just retro into like it's a landing bay, doesn't do a slow controlled descent, no, he ever so nonchalantly pulls a giant backflip half gainer no splash. Casually navigating an unnecessarily dangerous approach, and essentially saying without saying, "I know what im doing, im good at it, and at this point even you cant deny it."

You know the second he started to backflip she wanted to say something, but she didn't. She's done, Han won. This alpha male just spent the whole morning proving his worth and proving her wrong. She never questions him again, shes gone, her whole attitude changes. All the life saving was dinner, the backflip was desert. This is the moment she truly falls in love with him, and he knows.

Next time we see her, she's struggling. If it weren't for C-3PO rolling up when he did, they smash

General Discussion Do you think we will get a show as good as Andor anytime soon?

Yes, it's an oversaid sentence, but Andor has to be my favorite show in the series.

I just ADORE the brutalist architectural design and amazing worldbuilding, as well as the amazing storyline, and espionage-like experience.

I Really hope that we can get another show similar in style to this one, and was wondering what you thought of it?

Movies Every trilogy has that one line

The original trilogy has the power converters line
The prequel trilogy has the sand line
The sequel trilogy has the somehow line

All 3 of these lines have one thing in common

They’re not good, they’re not bad, they’re not even worthy of notice

But by some freak act of the force several sections of the fandom fixated on them for literally no reason

No don’t even try you can’t convince me there was a reason.

General Discussion Will Rey's Jedi Order allow attachments this time?

Seeing as the old order failed Anakin & Padme, as well as Luke Skywalker's order failed, I hope Rey's new Jedi Order will allow attachments this time. And I mean love/romance!

For the new movie being Rey's new Jedi Order, look forward to the next generation outside of the Skywalkers. A fresh new cast.

As for the villain side? If Palpatine tries to return again, look forward to the birth of a new villain who intends to form a new faction of Jedi for the dark side to rise above the Sith.

Movies I don't like Revenge of the Sith and I think Grievous is a bad character

Revenge of the Sith paused Obi-Wan's character progression to focus on a goose chase of a character that fundamentally serves no input to the story. Grievous exists just to get Kenobi away from Anakin, he has no reason to drive the main point of the movie that you should not be so attached to something to the point of falling to the dark side.

I heard about how he's supposed to mirror Anakin, but that also means it's not good enough to actually communicate it to people. The movie does a bad job in doing that because that interpretation is so obscure, a better way to do it is to have Anakin face him instead of Kenobi, have something, anything that involves the exchange of ideas between the two other than Anakin thinking he's shorter than he thought.

Now I get that out of my system, I want to say that the rest of the movie was pretty bad as well, Grievous is my biggest point but I dislike so much of the movie that this would be an essay if I continue, so try asking about various elements of the movie in the comments and I may answer them.

General Discussion What did the Kaminoans before the Clone Army?

In AOC, Dexter Jettster told Obi-Wan that the Kaminoans were famous for cloning. Considering that the clone army was a secret and nobody knew about it, what made them famous?

Fun What universes could be in a star wars multiverse

Since I know people are gonna comment angrily, this is just a hypothetical, I am well aware that star wars should not have a multiverse. That is obviousely a terrible idea.

Obviously the first two would be Cannon and Legends, others could be lego, the Infinities comics, the various Visions episodes, George Lucas's first draft for Star Wars that he released as a comic, Star Wars Tales, and Disney Infinity.

Games Starkiller has Darth Maul’s Lightsaber hilt? (Star Wars Force Unleashed)

Post image
3 Upvotes

Okay I’ve been racking my brain trying to make it make sense, but I don’t feel like it does so maybe you guys could explain it for me.

I’ve just bought the Star Wars Black Series: Lord Starkiller action figure (which is awesome, by the way) and he comes with six lightsaber hilts you can hang on his belt (pictured above). I’ve managed to identify them, to the best of my ability.

From left to right we have:
-Starkiller’s first saber hilt
-Lord Starkiller’s saber hilt
-Darth Vader’s saber hilt
-Rahm Kota’s saber hilt
-Kazdan Paratus’s saber hilt (not the whole pike tho)
-Half of Darth Maul’s saber hilt???

My question is: why would Starkiller have Maul’s hilt? The only explanation I’ve seen others give is that it’s from Proxy, but why would Proxy have Maul’s hilt? Proxy does simulate Maul at one point, but he also simulates Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon Jinn and various others. Are we to assume that he has all their hilts as well?

I’ve checked the actual in-game outfit as well and he has Maul’s hilt there as well.

It just doesn’t make sense to me. And, yes, I am very aware of the fact that I’m probably putting way too much thought and energy into this question. More than the people at LucasArts did, probably.

I guess what I’m looking for is someone to either give me a plausible reason for Starkiller to have Maul’s hilt, or just validate that it makes no sense.

TV Skeleton Crew is the closest Star Wars has felt to the original in years, and it deserves a Season 2 Spoiler

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

Spoilers for Season 1 below.

A Jack Sparrow Jedi, four lost kids, and an adventure that brings back the wonder of the original Star Wars. That’s Skeleton Crew, and I still don’t think it got the conversation it deserves.

To be clear, nothing touches the original, and I’m not saying Skeleton Crew is that good. I’m saying it feels like it. The first Star Wars was a young man staring at a horizon, sure there had to be something beyond the life he knew. There was an Empire, a Rebellion and a battle station, but we discovered all of it through an adventure: a message, a journey, a rescue. Skeleton Crew brings that feeling back. Four kids leave a world they think they understand, and all they want is to get home. Every discovery makes that harder and the galaxy more interesting.

War belongs in Star Wars. So do exploration, mischief and mystery. The creatures have personality, SM-33 has attitude, and every place feels like people lived there long before our crew showed up.

The heart of it is the kids. Neel’s compassion matters, and when KB’s implants fail, Wim has to listen to her to fix them. Empathy, courage, and ordinary people discovering they can help someone else: those are Star Wars values.

Then there’s the Jack Sparrow Jedi himself, Jod Na Nawood. To the kids he looks like a Jedi. He acts like Jack Sparrow. He’s neither, and that gap is the whole point. Jude Law makes him charming, slippery and impossible to stop watching. His training was brief, his guidance was taken away, and he learned to survive on deception. Never confuse power with wisdom. Half the time, the kids are more Jedi than he is.

Here are the complaints I see most, and why I don’t buy them:

“It’s a kids’ show.” George Lucas called the original Star Wars “a film for 12-year-olds,” and it never talked down to anyone. Neither does this. It gets darker than people expect: betrayal, threats, a lightsaber pointed at the people the kids love.

“The kids are annoying, especially Wim.” Luke whined about power converters at Tosche Station, and he turned out fine. Wim thinks he’s living a Jedi story. Learning what a hero actually is takes him the whole season, and that’s the point.

“It’s just The Goonies in space.” Star Wars itself was stitched together from Flash Gordon serials, Kurosawa and old westerns, then turned into something new. Same here: the bikes are Amblin, but a lost planet still running as if the Old Republic never fell, with a Force-sensitive con man as the kids’ guide, is pure Star Wars.

“Jod isn’t a real Jedi.” Exactly. Jude Law said they “liked the idea that he had no lightsaber training.” A perfect Jedi would have killed the story.

“None of it matters to the saga.” It’s set in the same era as The Mandalorian and digs up a lost piece of the Old Republic. The stakes are personal: four kids trying to get home. A good standalone story with no Skywalkers is what fans kept asking for.

“Nobody watched it.” It had the lowest Nielsen debut of any Star Wars show, true. But “nobody” was 6.3 million US viewers in its first 35 days. Critics gave it 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, audiences 79%. It won 4 Children’s & Family Emmys too, and before anyone laughs at the “children’s” part: the kids who saw Star Wars in 1977 are the reason we’re all still here.

So, should it get a Season 2? Absolutely. Let these kids grow. Their world has opened up, so explore what that means for them, their families and At Attin. Give Jod a future that has to reckon with his past, and if he’s ever redeemed, make his choices carry consequences.

No Season 2 has been announced yet. Jon Watts said “if people want to see more Skeleton Crew, we’d be happy to make more,” and Christopher Ford said “never say never.” Showing them we want more is the part that’s up to us: watch it, finish it, recommend it.

A strange planet, an unreliable guide, a friend in trouble, one decision that takes courage. That’s all a Star Wars adventure needs to begin, and we need more of this.

Did you give it a chance? Does it deserve a Season 2?

May the Force be with us all.

General Discussion I find it interesting how Leia forgave her son for all the terrible things he did as "kylo ren" including killing Han but never forgave abakin until maybe the later time of her life for the things he did as darth vader

• Upvotes

I know at a point leia had given up hope for ben turning back to light but she never hated him or disliked him like she did with anakin. In bloodlines novels she already knows about anakin's background and his good deeds but still doesn't understand him and doesn't see him as her father and it's at the end of life that she comes to maybe forgive and accept him. Maybe it was because her first impression of her father was as vader

Meanwhile since she raised ben she has a much softer spot for him and can't bring herself to truly hate him even if he killed her husband and killed thousands of people

General Discussion What is the most dragonlike being in the franchise?

Post image

I love all the fantastic animalia from Star Wars but I was wondering, which one is the most "dragonic" from all of them? For now I think that must be Varactyl because is just a gigant lizard.

I love it but wish we have something more draconic, maybe a gigant winged serpent or so. Is there something like that?

General Discussion Should I read Jedi: Battle Scars?

I’ve recently gotten into reading SW books and loved it so far. I also love the Jedi games and all the characters in them. PLUS, I’m a huge Inquisitor fan so I kinda wanna read the book for the Fifth Brother but I hear it’s generally a really bad book. Is there enough Fifth Brother for me to enjoy or should I just skip it altogether?
