AI Had Opus 5.5 improve the SVG for pixel art animations.
Earlier I posted about the SVG tool that I had opus make so that it could render them natively, I also wanted pixel art support so I had it had that too. Now it can convert basically any picture into animated pixel art in like 10 to 20 seconds

Discussion I donât think weâre going to see an era of abundance.
Please read the entire post before upvoting, downvoting, or commenting.
Iâm pro-AI, and Iâm not a decelerationist.
The thing is, I donât think weâre going to see an era of abundance.
I think at least 90% of humanity will become not only economically useless but also a burden to society. People will no longer produce anything while still consuming resources. And if they suddenly have at least 40 extra hours of free time per week, theyâll have more time to contemplate their situation, grow resentful, rebel, or have more children, who will, in turn, consume even more resources.
If we achieve AGI, I think we will face global conflict on an unimaginable scale. No one needs billions of people when AGI can perform their jobs better, faster, and more cheaply.

Discussion Why is barely anyone talking anout the guy who vibe coded Adobe's whole billion-dollar industry product collection?
It's cool, insane and deeply scary news to me, because it shows the crack in the matrix that is shattering.
It's not about whether what he did is illegal/legal, it's about what that means for every software industry out there.
It's just such uncertain crazy times were living in and I might ask for a room at Zuckerbergs bunker.

AI Meta pitches âpersonal empowermentâ AI, but Muse Wonder is closed and its best versions are sold to businesses
The pitch is personal superintelligence for individuals. The product is a closed model sold to enterprises, competing with Anthropic and OpenAI for corporate contracts. Both can be true, but the framing and the business model donât match.

Compute Microsoft to expand Azure Maia system to multi-gigawatt deployments
As we move into the era of Super Intelligence, Microsoft is entering a new phase of infrastructure. We will scale our Azure Maia family to multi-gigawatt deployments starting in 2027, making Maia the primary inference system for Microsoft products and services.
The multigenerational Azure Maia program has become a foundational element of Microsoftâs AI infrastructure strategy. Maia 200 is now serving Microsoft production workloads, including Microsoft Copilot, and supporting the MAI team as they develop next-generation models, with GitHub Copilot and Microsoft Foundry to follow by end of year. Across these workloads, Maia 200 runs OpenAI models, Microsoftâs own MAI models and leading open-source model families. Insights from the scale of Microsoftâs AI services allow for unique co-design between hardware systems and software applications to optimize real-world use cases across enterprise applications and industry scenarios.
Maia 300 is a complete intelligent system designed for the new types of AI workloads emerging today: Long-context reasoning, latency-sensitive conversational experiences and sustained, multi-step agentic tasks. By improving efficiency across the system, we expect Maia 300 to deliver 40% more tokens per megawatt compared to leading GPU-based systems. And in a full 96-accelerator configuration, it delivers up to 7x the rack-scale token throughput of Maia 200.

AI Why I want fast AI takeoff: Iâm fucking tired of the present
A lot of discussions about AI risk seem to assume we have a reasonably comfortable present to protect.
That isnât my experience.
Finding work is brutal. AI is putting pressure on the very jobs Iâm trying to get. I have skills, I want to work, and I believe I can contribute something useful. But none of that automatically translates into being able to pay rent.
Meanwhile, everything keeps charging admission.
Rent. Credit cards. The IRS. Groceries. Your cat gets sick? Pay. Something breaks in your home? Pay. Need to travel? Pay.
Even earning more doesnât necessarily produce the sense of security you thought it would. Going from $10k to $15k sounds transformative until taxes, debt, overdue expenses, and all the things you postponed start eating through the difference. Youâre finally catching up, and somehow still donât feel safe.
People talk about accumulating capital. Iâm trying to get to the point where an unexpected bill doesnât threaten to knock everything over.
And while youâre doing all this, biology keeps running the clock. You donât get your years back once youâve finally figured out how to afford them.
So yes, I want fast takeoff. I want the possibility of a world where survival doesnât depend on continuously selling my labor in a market that needs it less and less. I want universal income or universal access to essentials. I want medical progress fast enough to matter within my lifetime.
I know those things donât automatically follow from AGI. Distribution matters. Ownership matters. Alignment matters. A superintelligent system doesnât magically pass a UBI bill.
But âletâs slow downâ needs to come with an answer to a very basic question: what happens to us while we wait?
If you have millions invested and a stable life, another decade might sound like a sensible precaution. If youâre struggling to stay afloat, that same decade means something very different.
And yes, Iâm willing to accept some risk of misaligned ASI for a chance at a radically better future. I understand that my willingness alone doesnât settle what risks everyone else should bear. But neither should the preferences of people comfortable enough to wait settle how long the rest of us have to keep struggling.
You can disagree with my risk tolerance. Just donât treat the status quo as a safe, neutral baseline.
If weâre going to discuss the risks of moving too fast, we also need to discuss who pays the price of moving too slowly.

Economics & Society How will life find an equilibrium?
Lets say generously 10 years from now, everyone has staggering capability unlimited AI agents at their disposal for ÂŁ20/month.
80% of computer based jobs have been hoovered up.
Unemployment is extremely high.
Negligable new jobs have been created for those that are now automated.
There is an immense welfare bill.
Demand for any products is mostly just for essentials, not luxuries. So many companies selling non essentials fold.
A new equilibrium must surely emerge. It doesn't sound like a good model for society to run on.
So before we get to they dire state of affairs, will government's start introducing an AI tax? Or somehow disincentivising the use of AI in work?
Will people become far more entrepreneurial, so big businesses fold but there is a mass of fast moving tiny companies in their place? (Design a car, submit it for build test at a robo factory, release it relatively cheaply, get a tiny marketshare but enough to pay your ok liestyle). Prices for products plummet to increase demand and because manufacturing of new items is fast and cheap?
Or will there be so much anti AI backlash that companies start advertising that they are a human-first company, and the AI first companies get dropped? Mass protests? Everyone realises that an society/economy doesn't work if most of the jobs get outsourced to robots?
At the moment, society will just be a big race to the bottom for quick short term gain, but maybe an equal and opposite shift will emerge to create a new equilibrium...
Same old question that everyone posts daily I guess.

AI Addressing some misconceptions about "abundance", "post-scarcity" and "UBI".
A lot of discussions about AI and robotics misunderstand what abundance and post-scarcity actually mean. This post's goal is for addressing those common misconceptions.
Abundance & Post-scarcity
As automation advances, productivity will surge. But post-scarcity doesn't mean we will suddenly have unlimited land or infinite raw materials. It means we will have an abundance of products and services.
How do you get unlimited products from limited physical resources? Recycling.
In a post-scarcity economy, AI and robotics continuously dismantle what we no longer need and rebuild the next best version. When a device breaks or becomes obsolete, its materials are immediately recycled into something new.
Think of Earth's oxygen, the total amount of oxygen atoms is finite, yet breathing is effectively post-scarce because nature constantly cycles it. Products and services can work the exact same way. The raw matter is limited, but the utility it provides is endless.
This shift also transforms ownership. When people ask, "Who will own the raw materials?", the answer is that nobody needs to. We don't actually care about owning a block of aluminum, we care about the service it provides, like transportation. Once automation makes recycling virtually seamless, the focus moves from hoarding physical resources to simply enjoying the services they deliver.
When it comes to geopolitics and resource competition, keep in mind that an Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) won't just rely on standard raw materials. It will likely engineer novel synthetic materials, bypassing many of the scarce natural resources that drive global supply chains and geopolitical tensions today.
UBI & UHI
UBI and UHI are not the end goal, nor do they define post-scarcity.
Post-scarcity requires fully automated labor (100%), which can't happen overnight. Instead, automation will roll out unevenly, some sectors will be automated almost immediately, while others will take years to catch up.
During this shift, UBI and UHI are simply transitional tools.
They serve as the bridge to keep society stable while we navigate the gap between human labor and complete automation.
