The Ascent hits differently
I think The Ascent is one of the most immersive cyberpunk experiences.

Curious what you think.

It’s a project close to my heart and the most complex thing I’ve done so far; it’s a gift to the cyberpunk genre, it’ll be free, and I’m toying with the idea of releasing chapters weekly as PDF or image files until the whole thing is finished.
I’ve spent this year writing a book not because I wanted to write one, but because I couldn’t find any other way to publish my story.
I’m very visual in my thinking; it’s written in an atmospheric style, ‘show, don’t tell’ is my motto. The dialogue largely explains the world, and each protagonist has their own colour to make it easier to tell them apart in fast paced action scenes. Each chapter has a (synthwave) soundtrack you can listen to; I nicked the idea from Stephen King to get round copyright issues.
I wanted to go further than the typical ‘low life, high tech’ versus ‘corporations’ narrative.
It’s more of a revolution led by broken anti-heroes against an Orwellian superpower in a megacity; it also takes place in Earth’s orbit, in the deep sea, and in a sort of ‘Badlands’ the remnants of a nuclear war.
At its heart lies not only monumental, Emmerich style action, but also its sense of liminality within this dystopia. At first glance, my protagonists are classic action archetypes from the 80s and 90s, but I don’t want to show that side of them; rather, I want to show what they’re like when the camera’s gone and they let their guard down and also their ugly human side.
If I had to squeeze it into a genre, it would probably be 80 per cent action thriller and 20 per cent romance, though it isn’t really a romance.
It’s often morally grey, but it also raises uncomfortable ethical questions.
For example, what is a human being, and what do we recognise as human if it wasn’t born?
I’ve written about 160 pages (arround 200 complete) so far; I’m currently finishing the third story arc.
What do you think of the topic and my approach?
Iam happy to answer any questions i build a complete Lore for my Universe.
Thanks

Eventually XR will shrink to the glasses form factor, and I'll miss this toaster form factor.

Had to slog through this build - just not enjoyable, wire management was bad and some lack of details on the first floor - could not figure out the reason behind the build process on this one - it looks good finished , but to me it was a struggle getting there .

Got some surprisingly positive feedback on the first round of these I posted, so sharing some more. Someone suggested making more with a cyber goth/street punk vibe, not sure I achieved the former, but I like how they turned out! I don't like repeating the same hair in one batch, but the non-basic options are pretty limited.
App used is Covet Fashion, and 99% of these clothes/accessories are real pieces.

So. What we call matter is made of field excitations. Matter is waves of quantum fields. We havent wuantzied spacetime or gravity or dark energy or matter. Thats because we have the wrong lens. This link provides great evidence for the return of the aether as our medium:
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGD50HQFFoww&si=K5V_eKgQOy8qHszE
"But wasn't the aether debunked" no. Youll get all the nuance you need from that link.
Anyhow. We live in a medium. And we live in one slice of reality. Physics tells us what matter and forces and fields do or behave. But never what they are ontologically. Theres good math that days electromagnetism and gravity are 5D systems. And what we see here is one perturbation of a higher structure. Matter isint made of "stuff" its made of "fields".
Anyhow. I figured out that super high voltage electrostatics can infact tear a hole or attract energy from beyond the veil and give us more energy than we put jn and its stored there somehow. Theres also the Charles bhuler exodus drive where two plates start floating in a vaccum. Not ion wind.
Anyhow, yeah that's pretty much all ive come to say. Become energy independent and make syndicates. Make cyberpunk solarpunk enclaves real I guess .

We bring news of the Ready Player One Graphic Novel release, and review a new cyberpunk romance novel. We have trailers for a couple of cyberpunk-adjacent movies coming soon, and take a look at this week’s comic releases, including the Kickstarter campaign for new comic series The Patrolman. We have the trailer for cyberpunk city building game Ultrapolis, and have details on the demo version of a new 3D cyberpunk racer. We also have information on the latest episodes of cyberpunk podcasts The High Tech Low Life podcast, who conclude their look at Cyberpunk 2077, and Hosts in the Shell.

Amidst the cold purple neon light, cyber-programmers tried to code human love and empathy into pure binary to sell as human upgrades. But the system choked and crashed in a pixelated scream, proving that some parts of the human soul just refuse to be digitized.

Brain-Computer Interfaces Decode Private Inner Speech — Researchers Build Fragile "Mental Passwords" to Stop AI From Secretly Harvesting Internal Monologues
Brain-computer interfaces can now decode private inner speech. Because these systems inadvertently translate unvocalized internal monologues, researchers implemented a "mental password". The machine remains locked until the user specifically thinks of the password, preventing the decoder from extracting hidden thoughts.
The contact point arrives as neural implants scale commercially. The primary failure surface is the destruction of cognitive privacy. If individuals fail to maintain their mental lock, their intimate thoughts are harvested. Rapid miniaturization threatens to eradicate the biological barrier between private consciousness and external surveillance.
The trajectory points toward total brain transparency, where internal monologues become searchable corporate assets. As BCI accuracy scales, fragile mental passwords will inevitably be bypassed by administrators, shifting the technology into an extraction device for involuntary thoughts.
This neural extraction circumvents existing legal protections against illegal search. No federal statute establishes fundamental "neurorights" to protect unvocalized cognitive data. Citizens must demand international treaties classifying non-consensual brain decoding as a human rights violation to prevent the commercialization of consciousness.

I have other videos of this tiny terror seemingly reacting to me recording him, making quick turns and other agile moves, and also as varying his speed, as if noticing and chasing things that seemed interesting to him further down the road before giving up. This video is the best out of any that I got for showing the details, but the behavior it captures is not very interesting (except for maybe the way he avoids the metal plates on the sidewalk) though I can’t see any indication of what company or organization unleashed this thing — the only clue is the 02 on the side of his head.

Hey all - sorry if this is the wrong community/wrong place to post.
I want to buy one of those cool/bad-ass cyberpunk looking helmets, but I also don't want some janky temu one.
