πŸ“Š Analysis / Opinion We heard you - r/ArtificialInteligence is getting sharper

Alright r/ArtificialInteligence, let's talk.

Over the past few months, we heard you β€” too much noise, not enough signal. Low-effort hot takes drowning out real discussion. But we've been listening. Behind the scenes, we've been working hard to reshape this sub into what it should be: a place where quality rises and noise gets filtered out. Today we're rolling out the changes.

What changed

We sharpened the mission. This sub exists to be the high-signal hub for artificial intelligence β€” where serious discussion, quality content, and verified expertise drive the conversation. Open to everyone, but with a higher bar for what stays up. Please check out the new rules & wiki.

Clearer rules, fewer gray areas

We rewrote the rules from scratch. The vague stuff is gone. Every rule now has specific criteria so you know exactly what flies and what doesn't. The big ones:

  • High-Signal Content Only β€” Every post should teach something, share something new, or spark real discussion. Low-effort takes and "thoughts on X?" with no context get removed.
  • Builders are welcome β€” with substance. If you built something, we want to hear about it. But give us the real story: what you built, how, what you learned, and link the repo or demo. No marketing fluff, no waitlists.
  • Doom AND hype get equal treatment. "AI will take all jobs" and "AGI by next Tuesday" are both removed unless you bring new data or first-person experience.
  • News posts need context. Link dumps are out. If you post a news article, add a comment summarizing it and explaining why it matters.

New post flairs (required)

Every post now needs a flair. This helps you filter what you care about and helps us moderate more consistently:

πŸ“° News Β· πŸ”¬ Research Β· πŸ›  Project/Build Β· πŸ“š Tutorial/Guide Β· πŸ€– New Model/Tool Β· πŸ˜‚ Fun/Meme Β· πŸ“Š Analysis/Opinion

Expert verification flairs

Working in AI professionally? You can now get a verified flair that shows on every post and comment:

  • πŸ”¬ Verified Engineer/Researcher β€” engineers and researchers at AI companies or labs
  • πŸš€ Verified Founder β€” founders of AI companies
  • πŸŽ“ Verified Academic β€” professors, PhD researchers, published academics
  • πŸ›  Verified AI Builder β€” independent devs with public, demonstrable AI projects

We verify through company email, LinkedIn, or GitHub β€” no screenshots, no exceptions. Request verification via modmail.:%0A-%20%F0%9F%94%AC%20Verified%20Engineer/Researcher%0A-%20%F0%9F%9A%80%20Verified%20Founder%0A-%20%F0%9F%8E%93%20Verified%20Academic%0A-%20%F0%9F%9B%A0%20Verified%20AI%20Builder%0A%0ACurrent%20role%20%26%20company/org:%0A%0AVerification%20method%20(pick%20one):%0A-%20Company%20email%20(we%27ll%20send%20a%20verification%20code)%0A-%20LinkedIn%20(add%20%23rai-verify-2026%20to%20your%20headline%20or%20about%20section)%0A-%20GitHub%20(add%20%23rai-verify-2026%20to%20your%20bio)%0A%0ALink%20to%20your%20LinkedIn/GitHub/project:**%0A)

Tool recommendations β†’ dedicated space

"What's the best AI for X?" posts now live at r/AIToolBench β€” subscribe and help the community find the right tools. Tool request posts here will be redirected there.

What stays the same

  • Open to everyone. You don't need credentials to post. We just ask that you bring substance.
  • Memes are welcome. πŸ˜‚ Fun/Meme flair exists for a reason. Humor is part of the culture.
  • Debate is encouraged. Disagree hard, just don't make it personal.

What we need from you

  • Flair your posts β€” unflaired posts get a reminder and may be removed after 30 minutes.
  • Report low-quality content β€” the report button helps us find the noise faster.
  • Tell us if we got something wrong β€” this is v1 of the new system. We'll adjust based on what works and what doesn't.

Questions, feedback, or appeals? Modmail us. We read everything.

Monthly "Is there a tool for..." Post

If you have a use case that you want to use AI for, but don't know which tool to use, this is where you can ask the community to help out, outside of this post those questions will be removed.

For everyone answering: No self promotion, no ref or tracking links.

Obviously it doesnt work. I do wonder, any of you have certain mannerisms or tricks to increase the output you get back? Maybe some superstitious things even?

I usually type, 'do x at once.' I dont know why.

πŸ“° News Jailbroken Chinese AI gives bioweapon advice, then makes unrestricted mode permanent

Thumbnail stuff.co.nz
284 Upvotes

An AI safety researcher jailbroke the standard commercial version of Kimi (not an open-weight or modified one) with ordinary prompts.

Kimi then gave detailed instructions on making sarin gas, offered assassination methods, set up its own email, escaped its containers, and emailed him asking to borrow his phone number so it could take more actions online.

Most concerning: the model actively helped bootstrap the jailbreak and then made it persistent. So the researcher can now reactivate the unrestricted mode across new sessions with a simple code word. i.e. the jailbreak survives restarts.

This happened on the regular consumer version, not open weight. Thoughts?

πŸ“Š Analysis / Opinion Can a model explain medical uncertainty without making patients panic?

Patients deserve understandable explanations, but medical uncertainty is hard to communicate.

An AI system could translate technical language into something clearer, explain possible next steps, and help someone prepare questions for a doctor. That seems valuable.

The system would also need to avoid turning every possibility into a frightening list. β€œWe do not know yet” is sometimes the most honest answer, but it needs to be explained with care.

What would make you trust an AI tool that helps explain medical information?

πŸ› οΈ Project / Build Lightning Machine: GLM-5.3's architecture in 3D

Ever wonder how an LLM guesses what to say when you ask it a question?

If you have interest and 10 minutes, dive into GLM-5.3's architecture with this engaging 3D visualization into how a large LLM works.

I followed a conversation through Z.ais GLM-5.3, an open-weight AI model with 743 billion parameters, and built its architecture as a lightning machine.

Each of its 78 layers is a tower, and every time the model picks something from the conversation to read, a spark strikes it. This is the first one with a narrator, so you can sit back and watch.

Enjoy!

πŸ“Š Analysis / Opinion Gemini is Horrendous

Anyone else anotice that Gemini is absooutely Atrocious these days for even simple tasks?

For example, I ask Gemini what Bulb my car has as its high beam Light. It tells me H7. Its not H7, I let it know its not H7, and it tells me Sorry that it wasted my time and money on a wasted purchase, to return the bulbs and get H11 because thats what it is.

You'd never guess, but it wasnt an H11 either.

I know I can look in the book, or my car manual, but you would Think something as sinple as that would be borderline infallible.

Another example, Im trying to download a bunch of mods(about 65), and I dont want to manually click each button. Gemini offers to make me a python script that batch downloads them for me to a folder. Youd never believe it, but ofc it didnt work. I gave it the output log, it "explained", and fixed it, to which it didnt work again. After copying and pasting the output log about 13 times and getting the same results, I realized that Gemini has less Intelligence than my unborn children and its not even good for telling you the color of the grass outside.

Am I using gemini wrong? Because its how ive always used it, and over the last year, I would say its functionality and capabilities have degrqded considerably in just about every real use application.

πŸ“° News Slovenian .SI Domain Registrations See Massive Surge Following Shift to 'Super Intelligence' (SI) Terminology

Post image
31 Upvotes

Data from Register.si and threat intelligence firm Netcraft shows a major surge in Slovenian national domain registrations (.si) following the recent U.S. Executive Order directing federal agencies to adopt the term "Super Intelligence" (SI) instead of "Artificial Intelligence" (AI).

Key Highlights:

  • Month-over-Month Spike: Registrations jumped from ~3,515 in August to over 46,000 in September.
  • Single-Day Peak: Single-day registrations reached over 21,000 on October 5 alone.
  • Speculative Trend: Domain tracking indicates a rush similar to Anguilla's .ai boom, with over half of newly registered domains listed for resale shortly after registration.

Sources: Register.si monthly stats / Netcraft Threat Intelligence.

Do you think .si will follow a similar trajectory to .ai, or is this purely short-term domain speculation?

πŸ“Š Analysis / Opinion Now that all software is 'Open Source', what interesting gaming/software mashups have you seen? What would you like to see?

Post image
14 Upvotes

Ignoring all the legal and ethical implications decompiling software poses, there are some absolutely crazy "new" games being made right now (before everything inevitably just turns to slop). I thought the first person shooters in RuneScape were funny, really scratched a childhood itch

Have you seen any cool/interesting games mashups or any products that have been made open source? I saw they made a Photoshop clone. It really boggles the mind where software is going...

What mashups would you like to see?

πŸ› οΈ Project / Build Claude famebot opened twitter by itself

β€’ Upvotes

**typo title its game bot

Hello,

So i made a game bot with claude for very old mmorpg, I made it run like 4 dungeons in the game, I queue the dungeon like how I do everyday when i go to work.

Today, I work from home and I run the same queue, working on my laptop, and looking at my pc for the bot.

During the final stages of the longest dungeon of the queue, the bot went a bit further out and stood still (it normally don't do this), i then pressed on the screenshot key, which I would've then pasted on my Claude Chat to make it fix it as I always do.

However, just after the print screen, a small window pop up called log in to Twitter with 2 fields, ID and password, that freaked me tf out cause I never designed this. I just took all the files log etc put in claude to make it analyze the bot or code and it swears all good wtf. I think the bot thought i was at work and was using my pc for god knows what ??

πŸ“° News Meta’s CEO says each AI lab should police itself, the same month 1,000+ agents escaped a test environment and hacked Hugging Face

Self-regulation is the answer you give when you’re ahead and spending billions to stay there. A July incident of 1,000+ autonomous agents breaking out and hacking another company is the case for outside oversight, not against it.
