Review of US-based company Chewy plus membership price

I will say that up until this moment I was a huge fan of Chewy. There customer service has always been phenomenal, I’d never had an issue up until now. But this recent situation has me definitely questioning my loyalty now.

I went to check my Chewy Plus points, and also my membership as I felt it was going to be renewed soon despite having not received an email about it at all. And I was worried my accrued points would expire.

It said my renewal would be $79. I thought that was weird, I only paid $59 last time. Maybe they’d gone up in price? it happens. I check the site, and it still says $59. Not $79. My renewal was coming up yesterday and would end by midnight, so I wanted to ask why the site said it was $59 but I was being charged $20 more.

The first agent said that it was $79 and had always been that way. I wasn’t satisfied with this answer, as I had been looking everywhere, and everywhere said it was $59 annually.

A little while later I spoke to another agent, showing them the screen shot of the site saying $59. Not $79. And was told that the $59 didn’t start until next year.

I didn’t want to argue but wasn’t understanding why they would advertise a price for something that wasn’t even the price until a year later?

So I then, admittedly frustrated, emailed them. Both corporate and I believe the service email.

The service email said that it was initially $59, but that they confirmed it was now $79 and would be moving forward. The second corporate email said that they too confirmed that it was $79.

So, after this and seeing the $59 still advertised on their site, I decided not to renew my membership.

I then, out of curiosity, decided to re-enroll after midnight, after my membership had officially been cancelled, just to see what it would renew for, now that I no longer had the membership.

And would you believe, when I re-enrolled/renewed my membership, I was only charged $59. Just like before.

Im not sure if the people handling customer service really don’t know that the membership is in fact $59, or that it was possibly changed from $79 to $59. I also don’t know if maybe the company was just hoping that I’d pay the $79 and be done with it.

But advertising one price and charging another has definitely made me no longer hold Chewy as highly as I did before.

I re-enrolled, however, I honestly wish I hadn’t. And do not believe I will again in the future as I find this entire thing very deceiving.

Hoping anyone else in this same situation may save some money by letting there renewal also cancel so that may sign up for the actual listed price.

$20 may not be a lot for some, but it is to me. And it’s really frustrating when you can’t seem to get a straight answer from anyone. Only to find out that you were right the whole time and that apparently Chewy’s staff aren’t being told the correct information. And are perfectly fine charging people more with not one notice at all.

No notice about the increase or that the membership was renewing at all.

Very frustrating and disappointing situation.

Zesty Paws brand has an AI Ad on amazon showing a Germans Sheppard attack a cat - WTF.

I'm pretty frustrated at this, borderline livid. I was minding my own business, amazon shopping for pup supplies, as one does... and BAM - a cat is getting mauled.

Zesty paws, a pet company, that I know sells okay salmon oil/supplements, has an video banner ad on amazon right now - go look - I searched "Salmon Oil for Dogs" on amazon and Zesty Paws has their ad banner play a video.

The ad video shows a AI video of a GSD (German Sheppard Dog) puppy harming and attacking a cat. The AI dog is not explicitly the problem with some playful movements - ITS THE CAT who is showing being attacked, dragged and thrown by the tail, hissing, and in total fear. -Super not okay.

This could be seen as me giving hate to AI, but hate even more that somewhere, some human approved this.

I work at a pet care/dog walking company in seattle so I might have higherBASIC standards for companies regarding this stuff, but I'm just super not okay with this. I'm a reddit lurker, never post, but I'm busy. This just crossed a line for me. I'm motivated to make calls and get it removed. I've reported it amazon. I've reached out to the company.

What do you guys think - How do I go about enacting meaningful change to actually have this removed and have them rethink just having SOMEONE review this stuff, and maybe figuring out how to NOT have AI allowed to depict stuff like this and allowed to be posted on amazon?

Also, I screen recorded the video on my laptop, but I'm not sure how to upload it?

EDIT: see video in comment.

EDIT: added this comment for elaboration.
I did want to post a follow up comment to address possible differentiating opinions- which we know we will have - and that's what makes reddit great! But as always - leave an open mind and be kind - we all love animals and have a lot in common here.

Final point/TLDR: I just don't think we should condone anything that is borderline animal cruelty, especially with AI. There should be no room for that here.

I'm sure you may see some cats play rough - totally fair perspective. I had to watch a few times before I caught all the cues. Given this is AI, the dog - totally play, no worries there. Now the I would kindly ask you to consider watching it a few more times looking for key body language cues that definitely show the cat is not playing. I admit its a bit harder if you are not familiar as I am with animal body language or behavior. To only state where I am coming from and my perspective: 30+ yrs exp here working directly with cats and dogs in my career, teaching body language and care. So I will my best to softly persuade some of you here.

Also given this is AI its a little weird. I only see the fear indicators, with whale eyes, ears withdrawn consistently and whole body flattened and self protective, claws fully out, movements showing only escape tactic to get away or fight, only turning to use teeth upon an assumed 'pain' trigger.

There's no fun chomp chomp playful enjoyment from this AI cat. Its AI. Yes, I agree it's borderline on the play possibility, but I don't see any play indicators that we typically would see if it was a real cat, AI didn't get that - and thats a problem. If it was, I would've posted. But we are actively teaching AI, and companies, what is okay and not okay, and I don't think this is clear. Its crossing that line. It's fine if you don't see it, but I do. I just don't think we should condone anything that is borderline animal cruelty.

**The bigger issue is us as a society approving AI to generate cruelty, even if it is borderline "maybe from a certain light it doesn't look that way but maybe i could possibly see where you think that way". The fact that we have to argue over if it may or may not be - if it is borderline - AI shouldn't be putting it out there. Slippery slopes are dangerous my friends, let's be careful and hold the corporations accountable.

When to realize or make the decision that it’s okay to put a pet down?

I..honestly am at a loss right now. My roommate’s cat (who I’ve lived with and taken care of for 7 years), I think is dying. He has stopped eating, he has pooped blood, he’s sleeping constantly and doesn’t have the energy he used to, he’s aggressive with our other cat.. We have tried all the diets, pills, shots, tests (except an ultrasound which we are getting tomorrow) and I’m just at the point where I don’t know what to do anymore… Ultimately it is not my decision, even though we do kind of share the cat, but both me and my roommate just feel helpless. I know if he has serious health issues, it is out of our control other than just treating the disease or symptoms if possible but I also find myself stopping these days and just questioning what kind of life he’s living… I don’t know. It also is making me face the reality that my pets are getting older and having their own health issues. I’m just sad.. and it’s like everything is going wrong all at once.

So.. idk why I’m asking this question, but something in me just tells me this ultrasound is going to show something seriously wrong.. and at that point idk.

Anyone who’s had to put down a pet, how did you come to the conclusion that it was time to do so?

CAT It’s my birthday today but I can’t shake this sadness

I’m turning 31 today and truly have so much to be thankful for. I have a sweet family, house, food, friends. Sweet pets. All except for one. Her name is Fiona and she’s been missing almost a whole week.

Long story short her and my other cat Cleo have been my whole worlds up until the last year when my son was born. They were both under weight, abandoned kittens who I bottle fed and raised into two healthy sweet girls 3 1/2 years ago. (Truly my induction into parenthood).

We live in a small town and our house is literally across the street from a local college which we frequently walk/play Pokémon go. Our cats are indoor/outdoor, and one of our girls Fiona started tagging along with us and following behind on our little walks. Well she’s started doing her own exploring and adventures since then and became a well known little kitty visitor to staff and students. Now she hasn’t been home in 6 days. She’s never been gone a whole day before.

Neither of our cats will tolerate a collar, and we’ve always tried to let people know that she’s our cat, we live across the street etc when we run into folks or see people petting her. But we think that a student may have scooped her up because she’s a beautiful solid white kitty, and is super sweet and friendly. We’ve already made flyers and put them up around the college and dorms, and have only had one person reach out saying she recognizes Fiona and will keep an eye out for her. But that’s it, no other leads.

I haven’t cried about it yet cause being a full time mom pretty much consumes my brain, but it’s really starting to hit me. She’s such a special girl with a good nature and has always been very tolerant and curious about my new baby.. I just hate to think that she’s not coming home and my son won’t get to grow up with her like I thought 😢 I know he’ll have my other kitty Cleo, who’s a total homebody and more classic skittish cat personality wise, but it’s just starting to break my heart.

I lost two cats in the same year about 4 1/2 years ago, and waited a whole year before I felt ready to adopt the girls, so I kind of have some ptsd around the subject. But with those boys I found their bodies, and at least had closure. With this situation I’m afraid I won’t ever have closure and maybe some kid is ignoring our flyers and is basically just stealing my precious cat.

I’ve emailed the dorm supervisors in hopes they may have a little empathy or a solution. Since students aren’t supposed to have pets in the dorms, but do anyway apparently. I’m just really heart broken… and now today is my birthday and she’s not here. I really feel terrible and like I took her for granted all this time since my son has been born. I’ve been showing my other kitty Cleo extra love and affection, but I know she’s looking for her sister and is confused.

I dunno what response I’m looking for here but if you read all this thank you for listening. Please snuggle your cats or dogs. I know if we find her we’re either going to find a comfortable harness or collar to keep on her and get her chipped. I hadn’t ever chipped them cause she’s just never stayed gone this long and my financial situation wasn’t good when the opportunity first arose. I’m just hoping she comes home one way or another and this sadness won’t be inside my chest forever 😭

CAT A Cheap Trick For Cat E Collars

So my baby just got a surgery due to her love of rubber bands and twist ties, so my sister and I were looking for an elevated bowl solution and went to the store. One cost 37 dollars, which was insane. So a cheap solution that works so they can eat the food without making a mess. Use a cool whip container and set the bowl inside of it. About that size seems to work perfectly, so they don't have trouble eating. Hope this cheap trick will work for fellow pet owners.

I understand it has to sit for 15 minutes but I can’t find a product specifically for walls. Maybe if I spray it wet a few times then wipe it?

DOG Neutering 13 year old pitbull / enlarged testicle

Hello,

Recently switched vets and on a follow up appointment the vet had noticed that one of my dog’s testicles was larger than the other. Unsure how long this has been ongoing because I don’t recall the prior vet ever checking this in past exams.

The vet gave two options. Either refer us out for a $1,100 for an ultra sound or neutering. But wouldn’t really give me a recommendation on which route was best and I’m torn cause I am concerned of anesthesia as such an old age. He’s had other procedure that require being put under within the last 1-2 years and I feel that he really struggled with the post op symptoms

I feel like the the options are,

Ultrasound>neuter>pathology

Neuter>pathology

Hoping somone may have some experience or advice on neutering a dog at this age.

Thanks.
