Just got infinite only playing this deck! (From around 80 to 100)
It is a deck built around Goose and Jean Grey who can completely wreck combos. It naturally fits an almost full ongoing deck as they naturally like to stack up locations to buff each other instead of spreading out. Jean grey (and Nebula) force the enemy to stack as well, so they are playing into your strength (if you draw the cards 😭). Below I'll explain a bit how I played this deck etc. Feel free to skip it or skim through it if you are more experienced or don't care for it :)
Basic Ideas
The ideal line:
T1 Nebula
T2 Goose at another location
T3 Jean Grey with Goose
T4 Add Captain America/Mojo/Antman/Luke Cage
T5 Ironman the Nebula location or third location (if jean grey location is stacked)
T6 Spectrum on Ironman or Negasonic and whatever
You need to win the Jean Grey location so if it looks shaky you play Spectrum T6 which won me so many games. If it looks safe you can just comfortably play Ironman or Negasonic or whatever you want to win.
Remember!!: the enemy, just like you, can't play cards that cost 4 or more on the Goose location so you don't need to be scared of big powerswings by your opponent. Unless they play Loki or something similar to you.
If the enemy has no cards that cost 3 or less they can play a card at the other locations. Which is okay because we want to win the Goose lane either way. This is where Ironman can help a lot.
You can also play Goose without Jean grey to deny combos. Goose on a Wong lane can be strong. (Not against Silver Surfer!!)
You can also play Jean Grey without Goose. Adding Ironman on T5 as the last card there to win the Jean Grey lane is needed.
Sometimes if I play Nebula and don't draw Jean I play Mojo on the Nebula lane as they will probably stack the lane to deny Nebula.
I feel like it is important to get a good read on the opponent's deck and possible plays in order to win with this deck as it makes use of disruptive cards and effects. So this is not an autopilot deck.
Decks that naturally spread out can beat this deck. For example silver surfer or swarm. But if they are greedy with Wong you may have a chance with superskrull into Spectrum which can be huge points.
Flexible card slots
Shadow King
It's not an ongoing card but good in this meta against Zombies, vampires and skillspam. Anti synergy with Nebula, keep that in mind. I think Cosmo would otherwise be a better tech card as it synergizes being an ongoing card.
Superskrull
I do think it is kinda essential as it single-handedly can give you a good chance against destroy, mister negative and tribunal decks. Also makes ongoing mirror matchups better. So I think it is essential in order to win more consistently with this deck but not to the gameplan I guess.
Negasonic
Kinda nice for a bunch of reasons. Just fits nicely into this control type of deck. Not part of your primary game plan but very good in securing or locking down a location if you read the opponent correctly.
Luke Cage
Good synergy as it is an ongoing card and low cost so helps with filling up the Jean grey deck, even if it is low power. But also a great Tech card in this meta and upcoming I believe as power-steal will become more rather than less.
I did try a version with some guardians like Groot but the ongoing synergy with Spectrum and the tech cards felt way better. Still if you lack some cards, Guardians of the Galaxy can be good temporary fillers I think.
Closing thoughts
I do think cards like Moonstone, Captain Carter, Goliath, Sam Wilson could probably make the deck better. I don't own them though which is why I didn't use them. Also I have only seen Enchantress twice, so I think her in a tech card slot is not very common rn, hence maybe boosting the success of this deck!
TL;DR
Fun little budget Jean Grey plus Goose ongoing deck. Happy to hear your thoughts or ideas or improvements towards the deck.
Also if you have another version of this deck or similar ones or better ones please do share!
Btw the third screenshot contains gameplay stats if interested.
Deck list is in the comments.
