It is a spooky season upon us, but fear not, as we are bringing you an update with the latest notes to discuss. As usual, we hope to see lengthy feedback so we can understand how the community feels. Without further ado, let's get into the topic.
Megathreads
In the prior Mod Update, we wanted to create Megathreads for CCs, but after a quick discussion, we decided to drop the idea and work on something different instead. (More about that you can read later below.)
Instead, we decided to use this space for the community and made the Sanctum Showdown guestbook. One great thread that took some bloat away from the Subreddit while giving you a place to collect complaints and compliments about Draft. We've been really happy with it so far and want to keep this trend going. What are your thoughts, and how can we make Megathreads even better, if at all? Let us know.
AI Posts, Bots and Behavior
We face AI more frequently. Not only on Reddit, but overall, which makes it harder to distinguish between real content and AI-generated content. We still don't support AI content, but we have a harder time filtering it out clearly, so we're hoping the community will support us in that area.
SD Employees
Something we realized is that people tend to write feedback without expecting SD employees to check the Subreddit itself, which often leads to hateful comments or borderline racism. We wanna remind everyone that SD is around. They might not interact as often as you'd like, but they can still see the place. With a positive environment, we can make sure that developers, designers, and others find their way to us. Great examples include Jared's past office hours.
Content Creators
Our last point in this post is Content Creators and how we wanna include them more in the Subreddit. To do that, we're planning an AMA and already have a few creators who said they want to work with us. We'll introduce our first guest soon, and like every Creator, they'll get a dedicated post with the AMA go-live date. We are very excited about this and hope you feel the same.
Last but not least, a big thanks to all the mods working behind the scenes to make this subreddit a better place. To the community that strives to be better and slowly but surely removes the prejudice that Reddit is a bad place, and to you for reading all of this. Cheers.
I belive this was by far the strongest card i got in the sanctum draft. Not saying that there arent stronger ones. Needless to say i won all games after i got him by a landslide. I even felt a little sorry for it.
Our 5 most likely nerfs for the October 15 OTA, ordered by confidence. We don't expect all 5 to get nerfed, they're just the 5 most likely per our algorithm.
Caliban and ESN both hit 98 this OTA, and are almost always run alongside APM. Thanos FF and Scorp BND are both still at 94 after their nerfs.
For the opponent and player I've noticed in my game and a couple streamers games this past week that the animation hasn't been going off but he is still buffing.
It seemed super sneaky as a couple people I've played the past week may have been exploiting then turn 6 a stealth buffed Galactus just gets played like, "when did his herald get played?!"
22 variants, that's like 3.5 times more than some other events /s
It's still the biggest and most generous event in the game, even though they've toned down the rewards. But the saddest part for me personally is that they've taken all the fun out of the event, because playing it in combination with the Sanctum scoring system wasn't fun at all.
I didn't buy a Premium Pass, and I played only 44 matches (compared to 93 matches last time) with this record:
0 wins
9
1 win
3
2 wins
7
3 wins
6
4 wins
2
5 wins
17
I hope that when the Draft returns next time, they won't undergo even more experiments. After all, at its core, it's a really cool and fun event.
Don't get me wrong. I generally find Snap to be a pretty generous game, especially by mobile standards. But the value they put some things at is generally baffling to me, and feels borderline insulting at worst.
There's some decent bundles out there! This just isn't one of them. But I've shelled out once or twice over the years for $20 bundles. And sometimes I can even understand certain $50 ones, even if I haven't done it.. but this one? I dunno man.
Genuinely curious. Has anyone ever bought this? No judgment! Just curious to see if there's even a market for this kind of deal.
First, there is no way I would have achieved the results I did without help from the community. I love this game, but even more, I love the people and communities that have been brought together because of it. This post is mainly a thanks to everyone who I have connected with, played with, or talked strategy with over the years, including:
>>>A big thanks to Ika and our discord community. After my performance at GG Q3 (sad), Ika made a promise to practice with me and even with his more condensed schedule, he delivered.
>>>Thank you to the Pixel server and especially our community in the NME - Wolf lists channel where we have discussed these lists exhaustively and love showing off our variants.
>>>GunnyT and the crew that run the GG series. Especially Gunny, since he helped me out with streaming equipment years ago: https://www.twitch.tv/gunnyt_
>>>Splaticus for his great tracker and being such an excellent resource: https://onreveal.gg/
>>>And everyone that tuned in to my Twitch stream - thanks for being patient with me as I tried to keep it together during the whole tourney. Now I know that a 7-hour stream might be asking too much of myself!
>>>Lastly, my wife and pets! Interacting with them and having them with me to provide support and take my mind off of the matches was exactly what I needed.
You can find me streaming on Thursday and Friday afternoons, where I will be grinding ladder and practicing for worlds. Come join to ask questions, chat about my classes, life, etc.
Games
Barely made it out of round 1 with the W, but the game rewarded me with a last turn game breaking Inversion on left lane.So I disconnected and didn't realize that the Play button would still allow me to rejoin a conquest match. Game bug and brain fart causing me to lose 4 cubes. Then I gave them VKM in a later match on a bad location change from Nico. Basically down to 1 cube most of the time. The last game was a gift again.Another last match gift from the game. Asked for double power Nico and the heart was in the cards. My list was just more explosive. The SK on the left is because of an Inversion I cast to flip the lane.Bad luck for Conq, but much needed rest for me. Made worlds on an 8-cuber.Pure vibes, I can't remember anything at this point.
Thoughts on the tourney:
Saturday was outstanding for me, and it still feels a little unreal that I went 6-0. It was the result of a lot of practice and a lot of help from my community.
I streamed for 7 hours, and I think it helped by keeping me focused and alert. Every match until the 5th round was extremely sweaty, and then some luck finally broke my way. In round 2, my game crashed and I disconnected, which tilted me for a moment, but I shook it off quickly. I also came back from large cube deficits in multiple rounds, and there are few better feelings than winning after clawing your way back.
This deck is fairly well known, so I won’t spend time breaking it down, but I’m happy to answer any questions.
This result was the culmination of four or five months of refining this list. In the Pixel Discord, we’ve been working out what performs best for each unique meta moment. Superior Iron Man, Queen of Chaos, and Vampire Killmonger each pushed the deck up a level, but they also made it a bigger target. That almost convinced me to switch lists. After a lot of deliberation, I trusted my experience to carry me through, and it did, until I faced Fudge in the quarterfinals.
Me seeing my matchup for Top 16
In the moment, I was extremely disappointed that I couldn’t maneuver past the matchup, but sometimes it just happens. I took some risky plays trying to play around Mobius and Shadow King, and they didn’t pay off. This might be where the streaming caught up to me as well and after the match I was exhausted.
It took a lot for me to get here, and that’s okay! Some people can pick up a deck hours before and demolish the field, but the rest of us can still make it if we remember RETREAT RETREAT RETREAT. Until you retreat your way out of the tourney.
My biggest tip for fellow ADHDers: get one of these and update it with the cards you need to remember in each matchup.
Overall, I’m happy with my prep and my list.
TLDR: Guy goes 6-0, makes the quarterfinals, and wants to brag about his community, and himself.
Their offer for being a "top ranked" player is $54 for a set of 12 borders same for hitting infinite is but different borders. Are people seriously hitting infinite then rushing to spend $54 on a cosmetic?!? If this was $10 I'd maybe consider buying it on a whim and having a good laugh at the idea that I'm somehow a top ranked player in this game but the amount I'm willing to spend for a laugh isn't that high
So, I held back from claiming my final 5-wins run and force close the game to wait out daily reset. Testing if we can still get another PMV after event ended.
And the result is: perfect variant for the season.
I don't have Galactus yet but on my final Draft run I got offered Galactus. Quickly went 4-0 and not once drawing the card to play it. Took 1 loss after a misplay on my part and then was offered FFF.
Got matched up against a nasty Deadpool deck until the RNG gods finally decided to bless me.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but didn't my opponent still have a turn left?
