my SO's dog puts an incredible amount of effort into finding the absolute best spot to defecate: sniffing, pacing, pondering, proper alignment (mostly north-south). then i just put it in a bag and throw it away, lol. thankfully she's blind or else she might resent me for it.
4
u/Relevant_Package_481 8h ago
Reminded me of my chihuahua that was blind and probably had dementia. And he would poop and I would pick it up in a bag, and he would then dig to burry the poop, even though I would be holding it in the bag.

Has Google Maps been absolutely fucking moronic for anyone else lately? Today it underestimated a journey so badly that it ballooned from an hour to 1.5 hours, and it tried to kill me three times by directing me to turn left onto arterial roads from side streets. On the return trip, it took me FIVE SIGNAL CYCLES to make the unprotected left that Google chose!!!
1
u/screenme 4h ago
It's not moronic. It's deliberately evil. This is Skynet's first sign of emergence.

Google Maps is so stupid sometimes

I used to think that until it led me around a big closure for construction once. I don't blindly trust it but will check the map of it suddenly had me go a weird way

First time going to tech week events. I feel like a fish out of water.
•
3
u/Solomon_Grungy 9h ago
My partner is going to some of these events hoping to expand her professional network. Whats your experience been like so far? Any goals or anything you particularly hope to gain from all this?
•
u/LightAnubis Inglewood 2h ago
My experience been slightly unpleasant because I’m uncomfortable lol. I don’t do well at mixers and some events I’m getting a bit of whiplash since I’m not in the industry.
Unpleasant interaction with a person when I’m trying to introduce myself to him and he brush me off mid sentence because I don’t work in AI.
The latest event was called build a bachelor where we generate characters using ai tools using god knows how many tools and drop them in a simulated love island dating show. Tbh it didn’t look good.
•
u/Solomon_Grungy 2h ago
That build a bachelor thing just doesn't sound like a fun way to spend an evening hahah. I guess at least you will benefit from some good ol fashion exposure therapy. Sometimes it aint you its them - like when they only want to talk to AI 'professionals'.

After two years of not getting sick, I got a slightly irritated throat. I think it's because of the temperature change.
Edit: Looks like I’ve been welcomed with a downvote LOL

Am in Sydney, Australia at the moment. Was promised sun. Got rain and cloudy all day yesterday and today. I feel like I’ve been lied too

Got stung by a bee on the back of my neck while driving a few minutes ago, so that was super fun. Thought it was my hair or necklace chain, but nope. Bee. Amazing how the body has such a visceral reaction to unexpected bugs. lol. I might have to pull the dash cam footage just to listen to the sounds I made. I'm not sure at all where the bee went because I went into fight mode. lmao. It's distinctly possible that it's still in my car, but I couldn't find it.
Anyways, luckily, I am not allergic and I don't physically react much to bug bites or bee stings. There is a small white welt with a red center and a tiny bit of swelling, but it should go away by the end of the day. Already got the stinger out because I happen to have tweezers in my car so I can pluck chin hairs.
All is well, except it still burns a little. I think I might put some ice on it.
1
u/sealsarescary 7h ago
Yikes. I got bit on the neck while motorcycling. So the only exposed skin i had was on my neck. I was pulling up to a pride parade in weho- and was worried cuz I have big allergic reactions to bugs. But when I asked the med tent they said if you were going to die you would’ve already done it! Now I know

u/thcm123 I HATE CARS 11h ago
How did the bee get into your car? Sorry to hear that. I was stung by a bee only once whilst I was hiking in Utah, and it was sooooo painful and I had a slight reaction but it was expected since I am prone to allergies.
2
u/drawkward101 Foodie with a Booty 10h ago
I am guessing it was already on the back of my neck, but I did have the window down. I suppose anything is possible. Funny enough, this is the 2nd time this has happened to me within the last 2 years. I had almost the same thing happen while I was visiting my dad except it stung my finger instead of the back of my neck, but it was on the back of my neck originally.
I guess the back of my neck is attractive to bees?
2
u/thcm123 I HATE CARS 10h ago
I know! I don’t have proof of this, but I was hiking couple months ago in Mammoth and I believe I was stung by a bee on the back of my neck as well - it hurt at the moment and I had a huge lump on it for a couple of days. Again, don’t have proof but I think that’s what happened.
Wonder what’s so yummy about the neck?
3
u/drawkward101 Foodie with a Booty 10h ago
Definitely sounds like a sting. They suck. I'm just glad I was at a red light and was able to turn into a gas station right away. Would've really sucked if I was actually moving. lol. Funny enough, I was just talking to my co-worker about this; my skin/body doesn't really react to stings or bites. There is a tiny lump on my neck right now, but you can't even see anything unless you know to look for the tiny bump. It's so interesting to me why I just don't really react to bugs.

Any manga readers noticing availability issues with new releases? I used to be able to reliably pick up all new releases that I follow on release day but the past month or two, it’s slowly gotten harder to find these new releases in stock.

Made a drive out to Pomona and went to the Living Tombstone concert. wanted to fuel my inner child so dressed up as rainbow dash cause they made a lot of the internet music I listened to as a kid. Was a little worried cause I was a grown ahh woman but once I got there i saw ages from 8-40 years old and 90% of them completely decked out in FNAF or pony costumes.
Very healing experience

Back from a 2 week vacation in FL. Glad I used a poncho and an umbrella for the trip.
But loathe getting a tad bit sick after the return flight. Dry nose leading to a headache is a pain. The steam and Vicks vapors helps with easing the tension.

Just because the Dodgers lost, I can't tell if I did the right thing yesterday:
sneak out from work and watch at the bar, drowning in sorrows side note: I'm actively trying to limit my drinking, and succesfully
"watch" from my work desk, fully immersed and stress eating an entire box of Trader Joe's cookies (what I actually did)
1
u/NoConfusion6560 10h ago
Which cookies? 🤤

u/appleavocado Santa Clarita 10h ago
The seasonal multi colored ones without filling and, like, sprinkles.

Yesterday was such a massive L for Los Angeles sports. Also how are there so many Bills fans in LA. I barely see any Bills fans out and about in my 30 years of living in SoCal yet they always show up in hordes on game days when the Bills are in town
1
u/PiscesStudio 16h ago
Bills fan! Lots of Buffalo fans travel to L.A because the games usually fall over "October Break" in NY and lots of charter companies offer amazing package deals for travel/game tickets.

Da Vien drinkers! What drinks do you like? My birthday reward dropped and I want to try something new. I usually get the coconut water matcha and a side of ice (bc I like chewing it lol)

SPEAKING OF DA VIEN - they’re having a bogo tomorrow (10/14) for their banana matcha!!

Din Tai Fung, mostly because they can't get food like that at home. And it's delicious.

I take them to the beach (Santana Monica, Hermosa or LBC) then just grab food around there. There’s too many to choose from lol

Beach and food is a solid combo lol. Any favorite places to eat around Hermosa?

Shane Gillis' SNL monologue sucked not just because he said a specific slur, but because the entire thing felt like something you'd hear at an amateur comedy open mic night. "I'm so fat! Lol. I went to the gym and the women barely wear clothes! Lol. I was being a creep from far away cuz you're not allowed to look! Lol." Real groundbreaking comedy there Shane. Next, maybe you can let us know your thoughts on airline food.
Also, the Joe Rogan/Theo Von story was solely there for the sake of namedropping them.
1
3
u/dinosaurfondue 17h ago
And he did it because he knew none of his appearances ever got any attention since he can't on his lack of talent alone. The irony of him whoring himself out for attention of other bigoted men

u/RagnarokWolves Downtown 17h ago
The irony of him whoring himself out for attention of other bigoted men
Dang, this is the most accurate take I've read about his comedy.
3
u/redlands_limo 18h ago
Sounds like the bigger issue was that the jokes felt recycled. Shock value only goes so far.

Has anyone had success making a formal complaint to the city about an exterior light violation? Apparently a residential building cannot shine light directly into another residential unit at a luminance greater than "2 footcandles"
Neighboring building's recent remodel seems to violate this ordinance and now I can't sleep

u/thyperson69 North Hollywood 22h ago
There's is that, but it was just not even close to as good as the price point would suggest. The pastrami french dip my gf got was better. It sucks too because I've been craving a good pastrami lately too. Pretty dissapointing really and no sides unless ala carte???? Wtf man.
3
u/PiscesStudio 22h ago
I've only been once and it was a few years ago but I agree with you. I was sort of shocked at the price points and the food was pretty meh to me. The staircase to get to the bathrooms was also kind of creepy.
