How good is Indiana, really? I adjusted IU and Ohio State's EPA for the opponents they've actually played.

Cooking our way through the B1G schedule: What belongs on an authentic Hoosier game-day spread?

Hey Hoosiers, friendly Wolverine fan coming in peace.

My buddy and I have a weekly tradition all season long where we throw out generic burgers and dogs and "Eat the Opponent"—building our Saturday and Sunday game-day menus around the authentic food culture and tailgate traditions of whoever we’re playing.

With Michigan heading to Bloomington, we really want to do Indiana justice on the smoker, flat-top, and fryer.

My mind immediately goes to the legendary giant breaded pork tenderloin—pounded thin until it looks like a hubcap, deep-fried crispy, and served on a comically small bun with pickles and mustard—and maybe a slice of Hoosier Sugar Cream Pie for dessert.

But I want to hear from the people who actually set up tents around Memorial Stadium:

  • Is the tenderloin the undisputed king of Bloomington game days, or are folks firing up something else on the grates out in the grass lots?
  • Bloomington has iconic college food spots like Nick’s English Hut—are people recreating things like the local-style rolled strombolis or fried biscuits with apple butter at their tailgates?
  • What is the hyper-local, weird, or potluck-style side dish (like a classic Midwestern casserole or dip) that outsiders never know about?

Would love your favorite recipes, lot traditions, or tips on what makes an Indiana tailgate table complete. Good luck next weekend—hoping for a great, injury-free matchup!

[Rexrode] Can Indiana fans lose it? Message Board Monday

Thumbnail

Just two years earlier, formerly mighty (and at that point decidedly mid) Nebraska’s visit to Indiana was seen as a referendum on the Hoosiers’ surge under first-year coach Curt Cignetti — could he actually have a winning team or even, heaven forbid, a contender for this newfangled 12-team College Football Playoff?

On Saturday, defending national champ Indiana visited Nebraska to answer very different questions. Could the mighty Hoosiers be pushed enough to ponder their first loss since Cignetti’s first team fell to Notre Dame in the Playoff on Dec. 20, 2024? Does Matt Rhule have a team capable of delivering Nebraska’s first eight-win season in a decade or even, perish the thought, a Playoff bid?

This was a perfect game for Message Board Monday. The competing game threads, in particular, were ideal because that’s where emotions run highest on message boards. Every play is ripe for overreaction.

So let’s check in on Hoosiers fans (who should probably be content with just about anything for a decade or so) and Cornhuskers fans (who have a right to be suspicious about all glimmers of hope) as they take in Indiana’s dramatic 20-17 win, the Hoosiers scoring the last 14 points when they appeared to be in serious jeopardy.

Indiana pregame

KylerStaley: Convinced myself Indiana is going to win by 20-plus over the past 30 minutes.

Bakruer: Got myself to that point about half way through the week.

Flounder87: Run it down their throat.

MIGA: Turbo (Richard) about to go OFF.

Nebraska pregame

HogFarmer1992: Time to shut up the nation!

Tgas74: All we can do is pray and get hammered.

TunaCorn: I just want to believe

McFly1965: Urban Meyer just picked Nebraska ha ha.

Aksarben87: I’m not sure why you’d pick Nebraska to be honest.

Nebraska has a nice drive for a field goal to start.

Indiana

Mohoosier: Defense didn’t get off the bus.

Indiana Ed: Got to play better defense than that.

Dejoya93: Awful tackling

Willtodd122: I don’t think I’ve ever genuinely disliked a team as much as Nebraska right now. Cocky fan base. Let’s stick it to them

Exhibition # 1 ✅

Indiana took care of business yesterday evening against Butler at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse!

Rebounding & transition play looked great!
Fouls, Sisley & Sherrell were the concerns.

What stood out to you?

Where Can I Exchange My Purdue Ticket for Minnesota Game?

I realized that I am not going to be in town for the Purdue game. Is there a platform where I can trade/exchange my Purude ticket for the Minnesota game without selling it? How can I do this with least risk possible? Thank you and GO HOOSIERS!

Josh Hoover is Underrated

Because he's not Fernando Mendoza, Josh Hoover is hugely underrated.

At this point a year ago, Fernando had 17 TD and 2 INT on 153 attempts. Hoover has 17 INT and 0 INT on 129 attempts. Hoover has 24 fewer attempts, about a full game difference.

I think if people went back and watched the first six games of last year with no knowledge of how the season turns out, they'd feel the same way about Mendoza as many of the doubters do about Hoover right now.

The standards have changed for a lot of Indiana fans. After an undefeated national champion Heisman winner, that's not a fair bar to judge the next QB against. It's virtually impossible to exceed or even match that level. Josh Hoover is a great, great college quarterback right now and we're lucky to have him with our team.
