Question Holy Wow: bill increase

I just got the notification from Apple that my price for DisneyPlus annual is moving from $79.99 to $189.99, a full $110 jump. That's crazy! Was I stuck in some time vortex and underpaying for a year or what in the heck happened?

And it’s even worse. It still has ads (in the US, there are no real ad free plans).

I have Disney without ads and I see no ads whatsoever. If it’s live or sports that is different. No ads interrupt my show or movie. Do more research or use the service and see for yourself.

Got my Disney thru Hulu ad free. My problem is Disney doesn’t work half the time. At this point the only reason I keep it is for Star Wars and they are phasing out Hulu to just be under them. They suck. Kid is special needs and is in to Disney movies. Forgot to add I’m in the states the middle of the country.

Right. No ads, but cost a bit more

Luckily I get it free from Verizon.

If you have ad-free Disney+ and Hulu with ads. You’ll see ads on anything from Hulu, even when streaming it on Disney+

That was not his point. Obviously if you have ad Hulu you would see ads. He was saying g Disney even on ad free has ads now and that is a flat out lie.

I understood his point and offered a possible explanation on why he was seeing ads on Disney+ when he has the premium.

I guess I would say it’s common sense if you’re on Hulu either on the Disney app or Hulu and have ads on Hulu you would know. But yeah I have seen dumber things.

I do use the service. That is how I know there are ads in "ad free" plan in the US.

No, Disney+ has not started running regular commercial breaks during movies and shows on its ad-free Premium tier in the U.S. There has, however, been a recent controversy about this.
Here's what's happening as of October 10, 2026:
Disney+ Premium (ad-free): Movies and on-demand shows remain generally free of commercial interruptions.
Promotional trailers: Disney may show trailers or promotions for its own shows and services, including on the ad-free tier.
Pause ads: Disney has introduced advertising formats that can appear when viewers pause content.
Live programming and sports: Commercials can still appear, even with Premium.
The recent rumors started after Disney changed some subscription-agreement wording, prompting fears that traditional ads would be added to ad-free subscriptions. Reports indicate that Disney has not made that change.
Bottom line: If you're paying for Disney+ Premium, you should still be able to watch regular movies and shows without traditional commercial breaks. But ad-free doesn't mean absolutely no promotional content or advertising in live programming.

Don’t care about controversy. Just sticking with the facts.

I showed facts. And you still don’t believe it. You must be the only person that pays for no ads and gets them during a show or movie. 🤣

You are flat out lying there are no ads in it I use it almost daily. Show me your source they have ads after your movie or show starts.

It’s ok that you’re not in the US.

I am in the USA. Southwest Georgia to be exact. And you seem to be the only person that pays for no ads and gets them in the middle of shows and movies.

Sports and live TV has ads on every service globally.

On demand is ad-free.

I wish that was the case in the US

That is the case in USA

No. Easily debunked by using the service.

I use it with my kid every day. For the on demand tv shows and movies there are not any ads.

Seeing as you posted like a dozen times about getting ads, what shows/movies specifically are you seeing ads on?

No idea what plan you are on but I am in NY on the Disney / Hulu bundle ad free. I see no ads when watching anything now. It is a promo I was offered at $9.99 a month for three months. I was offered it while originally having an ad plan
