Science, Tech & Medicine Following Ukraine’s attack on Yandex’s data centers, Russian bot activity across American platforms appears to have declined significantly. A Swedish engineer rans tests by posting pro-H-1B visa content and observed no anti-Indian hate in response.

I’m talking about generic anti-Indian hate online. Calling Indians third-world scammers who shit on the streets, fuck animals, and want to steal American jobs, and are systematically destroying American society. That’s anti-Indian hate.

Imposing tariffs, or even Navarro calling us the “Maharaja of Tariffs,” is policy.

There’s a clear distinction between anti-Indian racism and criticism of government policy.

They’re being harsh on Canadians, too. Fucking hell, we haven’t even received half the stick in the media that Canada gets on a daily basis by US Officials. That doesn’t mean they’re being racist or anti-Canadian. That’s policy.

False. The MAGA warriors on the ground absolutely contribute to fuelling anti-Indian hatred. While officials may refrain from making such statements publicly, their political allies and prominent figures often voice these sentiments openly. The treatment of Canadians is different because it lacks the same racial dimension that makes anti-Indian hatred easier to fuel. If race were a factor in how Canadians were perceived and treated, I have little doubt we'd see a similar pattern there too.

As for Russia, it may have its share of anti-Indian sentiment, but I doubt it's any more widespread than in the US, and it's arguably comparable to what you'd find in other European countries at most. Besides, India can hardly afford to be openly hostile towards Russia when it has been one of India's most dependable partners among the major powers, particularly in defence and strategic affairs especially when don't share good relation with other big nations at this moment.

For one, real conservative influencers feed off the engagement their content generates. Many mistake these bots for actual people and end up amplifying and perpetuating the same hateful rhetoric.

Two, not all anti-Indian hate or racism comes from bots. Bo French demonstrated that with his post about the kids at a UT Austin game. These are conservatives who are running for office, who are made to believe spewing Anti-Indian hate will get them votes.

If you think racism is exclusively about skin color, then I feel for you. Canadians and Mexicans are among the first groups that face prejudice and have negative stereotypes projected onto them. Racism and xenophobia aren't limited to skin color.

I never claimed Russia harbors anti-Indian sentiment. That isn't even the argument. The hypothesis is that Russian bot networks could amplify anti-Indian sentiment to deepen divisions between India and the United States. The wider that divide becomes, the more room there is for India and Russia to strengthen their relationship. That has been the case since 1947.
