MOD POSTS📣 Raising the Bar: Setting better standards because YOU deserve it

Post image
55 Upvotes

Dear members,

As we build this community with your contributions, we want to set standards that match the quality of discourse you deserve.

We want this subreddit to stand apart from the Indian focused subs that often feel like echo chambers of one side or the other. That is not healthy for our growth as a country. We need quality discussions - ones where we understand each other better, empathize with each other, and come together. Critical Thinking India is not just a name. It is the expectation and the foundation of this sub.

Building on top of the previously shared guidelines, this post outlines what good participation looks like, what we expect from you, what you can expect from us, and how we plan to maintain it.

1. Post Standards

Every post should meet a basic quality threshold:

  1. A clear, descriptive title. No low-effort, clickbait, or ragebait titles. They are not a good starting point for meaningful engagement.
  2. Your own reasoning is required. Whether you share a news article, a video, or a picture - you must include text where you present your own opinion, analysis, or argument. A link dump with no-explanation does not qualify as a post.
  3. Steelman the opposing side. This is what sets this subreddit apart. When you make an argument, make a genuine effort to understand and present the strongest version of the opposing viewpoint - not a strawman. Show that you actually understand why someone might disagree with you, and then explain why you still hold your position.

1.1 Recognizing Quality Contributions

  1. Posts that genuinely engage with opposing arguments in good faith will be recognized by the mod team with a special post flair. This is our way of signaling to the community that a post is worth engaging with deeply. If you believe your post presents honest arguments and addresses a steelmanned version of opposing views, you can appeal for this flair at the bottom of your post.

  2. Beyond individual posts, we are introducing a tiered contributor flair system. Members who consistently produce well-reasoned posts and comments will earn progressively higher contributor levels/'reputation' within the sub, assigned by the mod team based on sustained quality over time. These are not something you can assign yourself. They are earned through rigorous, honest contributions with sound analysis and respectful argumentation.

Note: Upvotes and downvotes do not seriously factor into this. What matters is how well you understand opposing views and how respectfully and clearly you present your own.

Details on the exact tiers will come as the system takes shape. The principle is very simple: put in the effort to think critically and fairly, make contributions that add nuance, clarity, and better understanding, and it will not go unnoticed.

2. Comment Standards

When engaging in the comments:

  • Focus on ideas, not people. You have freedom of speech. We do not gatekeep you from discussing any topic or ideology. You can criticize an ideology, but you are not allowed to generalize about the people who associate with it. Attacking people, groups, or individuals by name-calling is not permitted. Disagree with arguments and ideas, not the person making them. You can criticize politicians and other public figures/influencers, but with respect.

  • Back your claims. Wherever possible, cite your sources and explain how you arrived at your conclusions.

  • Stay on topic. Derailing a discussion with unrelated tangents or bad-faith engagement is not allowed.

  • Don't retaliate, report. If you see someone breaking these rules - personal attacks, derailing, uncivil behavior - do not join them. Use the report button with the appropriate rule. Let the mod team handle it.

3. Enforcement

We keep track of rule violations. The process is straightforward:

  • Initial violations result in warnings and content removal.
  • Repeated violations, despite warnings, lead to temporary bans.
  • Continued disregard for the rules results in a permanent ban.

We intend to make sure disagreements here are productive, evidence-based, and respectful.

Why This Matters

We know the majority of people are not firmly right-wing or left-wing. Most people understand that there are nuances - whether it is government decisions, world affairs, religious tensions, private sector actions, or infrastructure issues, etc. Most people know that there are good things and bad things in every person and situation.

With these standards, we want to bring out those nuances so more people are informed enough to form their own opinions about society, culture, politics, and everything around them.

This space is not for extremes. It is for those in the middle who appreciate nuance, who want to understand the world they live in better. That is the purpose of this subreddit, and we want to give and maintain space for nuanced agreements and disagreements to exist.

We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to better discussions.

Our parents built house without any problem during congress era, but we have to work overtime for dhandhos to meet our basic requirements that's the situation of ecomomy today.

Inflation numbers are manipulated, gdp numbers are inflated you don't know what real condition is and how deep system is rotten.

They can hire hundreds of members to spread propoganda and thousands of bots to comment same propoganda but at the and we have to look reality of our lives.

Dhandhos become doubled or tripled their wealth but common man robbed out of their human rights and basic dignity.

CJP Leaders Detained Again Despite Bail Bond

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were reportedly detained again by Delhi Police after attempting to resume their protest at Jantar Mantar on October 13, 2026. Their detention comes just days after their release upon furnishing surety bonds of ₹50,000 each. The leaders had been protesting against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Their repeated detention has raised questions about the restrictions imposed on peaceful demonstrations and the ability of protesters to exercise their democratic rights without facing repeated police action.

What we're seeing is unprecedented in Indian history. Every political party has goons, and police are known to be collaborators. But there has never been such open collaboration, and such huge number of thugs! By masquerading as "protectors of Hinduism", any violence is now legitimate! No laws apply when enforcers of law are openly on your side!

India's most prominent asset, that kept the country intact and stable despite turmoils over the years, has been the sanctity of institutions. When they get corrupted to the extent that it becomes open and clear to the people, then the nosedive becomes imminent. We should've learnt from our neighbour's past and present, and we chose to radicalise ourselves in the name of religion, so much so that our own govt openly flouts laws.

Elections & Democracy Does BJP remember why Jantar Mantar became a protest site in the first place?

Does BJP remember why Jantar Mantar became a protest site in the first place? Jantar Mantar became Delhi’s designated protest hub in 1993 after the government restricted demonstrations at the Boat Club following major protests, including the 1988 farmers’ agitation. Anna Hazare’s 2011 anti-corruption movement later turned the venue into a national symbol of public dissent, with the movement helping push the government towards Lokpal legislation. Today, on October 12, 2026, Delhi Police has removed Jantar Mantar from the list of designated protest sites, shifting demonstrations to Ramlila Ground, Burari Ground and CBD Ground.

The irony is hard to ignore. BJP leaders once gained political mileage from public anger against corruption and the demand for accountability. Yet under the BJP-led Centre, one of the most recognisable addresses for peaceful dissent has lost its official status. Moving protests elsewhere does not erase the right to protest, but shifting demonstrators away from the seat of power raises a legitimate question. When citizens protest against a government, does the government defend their democratic right to dissent, or does it prefer their voices to be heard somewhere less visible?

News & Current Affairs When even an Adani channel calls LoP's rally a "Massive" one, you definitely know that they have nailed it!

Post image

Ever since its acquisition by Adani, NDTV has always been 10 steps behind other channels in reporting anything positive about the opposition (especially RaGa) and 10 steps ahead of others in deriding them. For obvious reasons, of course.

But after today's INDIA bloc rally even NDTV seems to be changing its tone a bit... calling it a massive one, and inside the article mentioning that thousands of INDIA bloc supporters and leaders joined it and the stretch between CP to Barakhambha road was packed. In a normal situation they would have tried to downplay the size of it or avoid reporting about it with much fervor, but this time it's different.

Seems like they too have smelled the coffee!

Critical Analysis & Discussion Bjp supporter only

BJP supporters se ek simple sa sawaal hai, zara thande dimag se sochna Election Commission na Right wing ka hai, na Left wing ka. Woh ek independent body hai. Toh fir agar Election Department ki kisi galti par sawaal uthta hai ya log protest karte hain, toh aap logon ki itni kyun jal rahi hai? Aap log har protest ko 'propaganda' kyun bolne lagte ho? Agar department me koi badi problem aayi hai, toh unka Resignation istifa mangna bilkul sahi banta hai. Aap log khud socho Punjab me BJP aa sakti thi par nahi aayi. Agar wahan sach me vote chori hui hogi, toh nuksan toh aapka bhi hua na? Isliye aapko bhi is protest ko support karna chahiye, kyunki hume sirf fairness chahiye aur galti karne walon ka resignation chahiye Ab aap hi bata do, kya Gyanesh Kumar BJP ke hain? Nahi na! Toh fir aap log itna kyun tilmila rahe ho? Protest ko support karo! Agar aise laparwah log resign karenge aur system saaf hoga, tabhi toh aage chalkar BJP sarkar Kerala aur Punjab jaise states me imandari se jeet payegi. Main sahi bol rahi hu na? System ka saaf hona sabke fayde me hai, chahe koi bhi party ho!
